Betsey Brown Character Analysis
In Ntzonke Shange s Betsey Brown, the titular character decides to run away because she no
longer feels like she belongs at home: Every time she played music she was a n . If she
mentioned Nasser, she was a communist. If she wanted to boycott her school, she was a rabble
rouser. If she wanted to eat at Howard Johnson s, she was giving whites more than was their due.
No matter what she said or did, it wasn t right. (102) Betsey decides the only reasonable thing to
do is run away and she decides on Mrs. Maureen s beauty shop. She figures she can work there
until she elopes. She s also seeing a different world, including the men with stocking caps on and
curlers in their heads...women with too much rogue and not enough clothes. (116) Betsey is also
reunited with her former care taker Regina, who now works at Mrs. Maureen s and is pregnant,
her boyfriend Roscoe presumably leaving her despite saying he was just getting things ready in
Chicago. I think by seeing Regina and seeing that Roscoe is gone, it begins to fade her
romanticized visions of not only love, but the supposed love she witnessed between the couple

Maureen and Regina pamper Betsey, giving her a manicure and a pedicure and doing her hair.
But being at the salon, Betsey begins to realize that there are different types of people. She
realizes that there was a difference between being a little girl and being a woman. (124) I think
Betsey learns that she shouldn t grow up so fast and that it s okay to be different. She learns that
she shouldn t go chasing after love (especially looking at what happened between Roscoe and
Regina) and to just let things happen as they

Government Shutdown Essay
The October 2013 government shutdown stimulated a wave of delays in pay and furloughed non
excepted government contractors, which affected agency s operation, services, contracts, and
grants. The furlough builds exclusive doubts on government stability and security from the affected
contractors triggering a negative impact on their WLOC, job satisfaction, and job performance
linking to CWB I and CWB O. Several research questions and hypotheses below correspond with
the problem statement and the purpose of the study. Q1. What percentage of government
contracting men and women were furloughed during the shutdown? Q2. How does furlough
impacts non excepted contractors WLOC, job satisfaction, and job performance? Q3. What is the
relationship... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How is job satisfaction and WLOC related? Q6. What is the relationship between furloughed
government contractors and WLOC as it relates to CWB I and CWB O? Q7. What are the effects
of shorter or longer furlough periods as it relates to CWB I and job performance? Q8. What are the
effects of shorter or longer furlough periods as it relates to CWB O and job dissatisfaction?
Hypotheses This study could potentially test the following hypotheses: H1a. Male contractors are
most likely affected by being furlough more than female contractors. H1b. Female contractors are
most likely affected by being furlough more than male contractors. H2a. Furlough is positively
associated with non excepted contractors WLOC, job satisfaction, and job performance. H2b.
Furlough is negatively associated with non excepted contractors WLOC, job satisfaction, and job
performance. H3a. There is a positive relationship between WLOC, job satisfaction, and job
performance when non excepted government contractors are furlough. H3b. There is a negative
relationship between WLOC, job satisfaction, and job performance when non excepted government
contractors are furlough. H4. Job performance mediates the relationship between furloughed
government contractors investigated in this study and their

A Short History Of Progress Summary
A Short History of Progress Written by Mister Ronald Wright, talks about the progress and the
issues of having too much change occur to a civilization, and how it can affect the outcome results
of a healthy progressing community. He mentioned the ups and downs that occurred to some
civilizations and how some triumphed while others did not. Which leads to the main dilemma
Wright argues about, which is the current destruction of the environment around us. Over
exploiting nature, over expanding, and overpopulating are problems that past societies have come
across and is now occurring in our time. These things are what helped societies prosper during
certain moments in history but they are now causing problems because we as people are abusing the

He grabs our attention by making us think about the three philosophical questions that the painter
and writer Paul Gauguin asked in one of his paintings. Where do we come from? What are we?
Where are we going? Wright tends to focus on the third question throughout the book to answer
where we are heading. He mentioned how some of the past history has been a cycle of what he
calls a progress trap. A progress trap is an action or notion that may help gain power, wealth, or
some type of benefit for some time but may result catastrophic at the end. That is why he focused
on the patterns in past civilization to see their rise and fall in history. Those civilizations that
achieved amazing things, for example the Mayan and Sumerians, would then fall victims to the
success they once achieved. Wright packs his book with proof that our longing for more is
leading us towards the same destruction like many great civilizations have in the past. We as
people are causing great harm to the ecosystem, which is something explained by Wright as a type
of impulse that people have had all through history. It is something we need to find a solution for
and put into action quickly. Mister Wright at the end made a good point Now is our last chance to
get the future right (Wright

Hate Crime in the United States of America
Hate Crime in the United States of America THESIS: In this research paper, information will be
given on hate crime in the United States of America. It s best to know about these types of
crimes before it s too late because it s rarely reported or spoken about but does occur on regular
bases. Hate crime didn t come about until the early 1980 s. It s sad how these types of crimes still
occur so many years later; there are innocent people who are attacked simply because of their race,
religion or sexual orientation. Based on the articles, hate crimein the USA is very common and the
chances to be a victim are high enough. Hate crimes are ignorant and pointless, they need to be

They also occur because of the failure to understand that there are differences between people
and their traditions. Often times, people feel intimidated by people who speak a different
language. They don t know what they re saying, maybe they re talking about them, and they may
also feel jealous because of it. People may commit hate crimes against immigrants because they
feel like they re taking jobs away from the American people and feel like they shouldn t be in
America because it isn t their original country. Another reason people commit crimes against
immigrants is because they feel that they get assistance from the government that Americans
don t. Some American people also don t want the immigrants to mix in with their race or in
American society period. Offenders of hate crimes just like the thrill of committing a crime on
someone of a group they don t like. Other offenders who truly dislike another race will continue
to commit these crimes against them until they are caught by authority. In some cases, being a
victim of a hate crime is the reason it s committed. Some victims feel threatened by the race that
they were attacked by. Some of the victims just want revenge from the group that they were
attacked by.Offender age range and top citiesHate crimes are mostly done by young people

The Pros And Cons Of Erga Omnes
In the international law, believed that as cooperation between state like entities most probably
started with simple trade agreements. These agreements were usually concluded on a bilateral level
and defined the relationship between two states. The idea of an international community only
appeared much later and its first indications can be traced back to the 17th century with the famous
peace treatiesof Westphalia, when states stroke for a balance of power. However, only in the 19th
century states began to develop international treaties in which general rules were laid out such as
the Declaration of Paris regarding the freedom of the sea (1856) or the General Act of the Brussels
Conference in 1890 that established an International Maritime... Show more content on

What Is The Singular Effect In The Fall Of The House Of Usher
Abbey Matties 9 13 17 The Fall of the House of Usher shows the audience that fear can be very
powerful. Not only does it scare us, it can reveal the outcomes that we dread. Poe uses the
characters, setting, and mood of the story to achieve the singular effect of gloom. Every single
detail throughout the story adds to the effect of gloom. Characters, setting, and the mood all
contribute greatly to the singular effect, because of the descriptive words that Poe uses to describe
them to the audience during the story. Now we can discuss and give evidence how these three
things take part in the singular effect. Poe uses characters to express his singular effect of gloom
by how he describes them to the audience. Instead

Should Finance Education Be Mandatory Component of School...
Financial education should be mandatory component of the school program. To what extent do you
agree or disagree with this statement?
Outline. In many countries the discussion about the rising financial problems of young people has
been getting more emphasis. Tough some people are voting to integrate financial education as a
schooling subject. It is an obvious fact that financial aspects are a major part of daily life, as an
adult and even as a young individual. Each and every one of us has to make financial decisions
concerning recreation, health, education and more. The question is whether to start with financial
education as part of school program or postpone it for a later stage in life.
The key problem for many young people is that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

nowdays most task are being done by computers.therefore,it is essential for each child to know how
to work with one. i do believe that from mention reasons it can deduced that financial education is
waste of money and some people find it interfere in their business.
Positive aspects: Finance is an issue relating to all people during their lives. Every of us has to
make financial decision every day in many daily activities. As a result, there is one question that has
been raised for ages: when is the right time to start teaching children to manage and use money.
Some people believe that government should take financial education into school curricula, but
some disagree with this idea.
To begin with, parents think that if children are taught about money too early, they will be obsessed
with money. That could result in valuing everything at a particular amount of money. In addition,
they may talk about money all the time at home, at school and in public places. Gradually children
become money minded ones, which negatively affects their life in the future.
By contrast, beginning learning financial education from the early age helps children understand
the important value of money. That leads them to use it reasonably. Money is an indispensable

Wildfire
On Monday, November 28th, many people in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee were
forced to evacuate, as a horrible wildfire exploded. The wildfires have been caused due to the
terrible drought in the Southeastern United States due to the lack of rain. This lack of rain has
been very tragic for our ecosystem, because it has caused these fires. In the Southeast, it has been
the driest conditions in the past decade, and the ground has been so hard. These fires are
spreading very rapidly and it affects our society in a terrible way. Although firefighters are making
progress, the fires keep spreading due to the low humidity and winds. They release carbon dioxide
into the air and destroy homes and habitats. To begin with, at least 14,000 people have evacuated

How Did Al Capone Impact Society
During the period of prohibition, from 1920 to 1933, the sale, manufacture and transportation of
alcohol was made illegal, through the Volstead act of 1919, leading to the first and only time an
Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was repealed. Throughout this time in American history
gangsters were common and were constantly increasing in every city but one in particular stood out
from all the others making a significant impact on American history. Scarface, Alphonse Capone or
more commonly known as Al Capone; who was the most infamous gangster, taking advantage of the
era of Prohibition, ran an organized crimeassociation in Chicago during the 1920s. He was
responsible for over 500 murders; he had 700 men under his control and earned $60 million a
year for bootlegging. Capone, who was glamorised in media and shown as charitable to the
helpless was also controlling and violent and became an iconic figure of the successful American
gangster who insisted he was just supplying the public demand .
As Al Capone was such a controversy his significance, the interpretations of how he made an
impact on American lives, culture and politics and how he was remembered at the time and

Acute Kidney Injury Essay
ABSTRACT
Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) is a critical complication after pediatric cardiac surgery that
significantly diminishes the quality of life. Early detection of AKI after pediatric cardiac surgery
can lead to better preventive and therapeutic interventions. The aim of this study was to assess the
usefulness of plasma neutrophil gelatinase associated lipocalin (NGAL) as an early marker of
acute kidney injury (AKI) in cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) in pediatric cardiac patients. We
measured serum creatinine, serum urea, and plasma NGAL levels in 30 Egyptian children
undergoing cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass. We classified patients according to
creatinine criteria of Acute Kidney Injury Network into AKI (n=9) and non AKI (n=21) groups....

They were undergoing cardiac surgery with CPB for surgical correction or palliation of
congenital heart disease. Monitoring of the patients was achieved by serial measurements of
plasma NGAL, S.Cr and serum urea levels at 2 h preoperatively, as well as 2 h, and 24 h
postoperatively. In addition, we measured the postoperative S.Cr and serum urea during 48 h
after surgery. Venous blood sample was withdrawn from every patient by suitable syringe
according to patients age and weight. Estimation of plasma NGAL was carried out using Human
Neutrophil Gelatinase Associated Lipocalin (NGAL) ELISA kit (Catalog #: 95645) of Glory
Science Co., Ltd, USA. It was measured on MR 96 Microplate Reader (CLINDIAG SYSTEMS

Measure Growth During American War History And Musicality...
Chapter Four: Data Analysis and Findings The purpose of the study was to measure growth in
American war history and musicality while learning repertoire from various war periods,
identifying the major wars of the United States with dates, and describing the origins of Veteran s
Day. Ten different sub questions and research instruments were used to measure growth during the
process of preparing for the Veterans Day Concert. Each instrument was inserted into Google
Forms and delivered to each student via Google Classroom. Pre Tests were given to students during
the third week of school. Post tests were given to students two weeks prior to the final performance.
Scores may have been effected by possible guessing or misspelled words in the students written
responses. The data is reflective of the hypothesis in the fact that sixth grade students scored low
and eighth grade students scored higher on the pretests. However, on certain pretests, the seventh
grade students actually scored higher than some eighth grade students. Data Analysis Question 1:
Can students demonstrate music growth through naming letter names of notes written on the staff
with treble and bass clefs from F2 to G5? The research instrument entitled Grand Staff required
students to generate letter names of notes placed on the staff with treble and bass clefs. Seventh

Designing A New Identity For This Business
I was introduced to Rayo Santos a new car lot in Lewisville, TX. I was given the opportunity of
creating a new identity for this business. The owner of Rayo Santos, Juan Carlos Olvera, gave
me instructions on what were some of the boundaries of the design, like using the colors of the
Mexican flag and using the name itself as the logo. Rayo Santos meaning Holy Thunder in
Spanish. Through the process of researching for inspiration and sketching, I finally found the
perfect solution by using a Halo and a Thunderbolt for the logo. I believe that going for a simple
and modern design was the correct way to achieve this design. After being introduced to Elda
Chavez, owner of Sky Event Center, I knew I wanted to take the challenge and the adventure of
redesigning their brand look. Sky Event Center is a place where the enjoyment of different
celebrations takes place. The previous logo had a good color scheme but in my personal
opinion, it seemed like it was made for a car wash and it did not appear to be made for a
ballroom, and surely did not reflect the beauty and elegance of the interior. I developed a new
logo that took out the beauty and gave it the sophisticated look it needed by using a self made
typeface that fits the business more accordingly. The mark itself is an abstract representation of a
flower and a disco ball with a combination of a cool color scheme, to remind the people of the
blues and purples of the evening sky. Dos Primos, a taco restaurant full of culture

How Does Presbyopia Occur In Middle Adulthood
For the purpose of remaining consistent throughout this report, we are going to assume that
middle adulthood begins at 45 years of age. While the majority of adults in this age bracket
maintain healthy and satisfying lives, the realities of physical deterioration are inevitable, and can
only be postponed for so long. There is a plethora of physical changes that occur during this
period; these include a decline in sexual performance, lowered bone density, lowered endurance,
and menopause. However, the trait I would like to focus on is age related farsightedness, also
called presbyopia. Presbyopia can make reading small print, and using smaller electronic devices,
troublesome. Unfortunately, this physical change is inevitable, even for individuals

India and Pakistan Negotiations
There have been numerous negotiations taken place between India and Pakistan since 1947. They
have ranged from inconsequential issues such as Border Railway Crossing and Time Tables to
highly disputatious ones like National Security interests including Nuclear Confidence building
measures and to the highly infamous Kashmirissue.
Before discussing the negotiations which occurred over the Kashmir issue, we need to know the
origin of the Kashmir problem!
A Walk into the History
After the departure of the British Empire from the Indian Subcontinent, it led to the formation of
two different countries India and Pakistan along religious lines (Hinduism and Islam). (Kux, 87)
These two new dominions had around 650 states run by princes. Theoretically these states had the
option of choosing either of the countries or remain independent. By remaining independent they
would have let monarchy leap over democracy. These independent states were advised by the
British Government to get associated with either of the two dominions keeping in view the
geographical and other relevant considerations, for the sole purpose of securing their defence,
foreign relations and other specified matters.
One of these newly independent states was Kashmir, which according to its geographical
positioning had the option of choosing either of the two dominions but there lied a problem which
was, the ruler of Kashmir was a Hindu believer but the majority of the population in Kashmir was
Muslim. Being

Central and South America was once home to some of the ancient world s most magnificent and

civilizations ruled the area for many years, and flourished greatly in their own different ways.
They were the cause for much advancement in arts, architecture, politics, religion, and society in

They began as a tribe of nomads and hunter gatherers. They were not used to settling and living
in one area for many years, and so it was after a few years that they began to form permanent
settlements. At this time the Aztecs were not even near being a major empire, as their arrival in
the region had absolutely no impact on the other tribes that were already settled there. It took
many hundreds of years for the Aztecs to make a strong hold in Central America. As this process
took place they started to grow as a tribe and made more enemies. Many battles were fought with
their neighboring tribes, and the Aztecs had to flee to the islet located on Lake Texcoco. It was
there, as an island city, that Tenochititlan was first built by the Aztectribe and made their capital
city. Overtime it matured into their largest city as well.[1]
The city of Tenochititlan went through many hardships, and many wars. But, in the end the Aztec
people prevailed and finally began to show their true colors with the makings of a unique
civilization and culture that would dominate the Americas for many years. This showed great

Allyson Wells Social Media In the world today, the development of technology is constantly
changing and society is becoming more dependent on the Internet and social media. With a growing
number of people using the Internet and social media the advantages and disadvantages become
more prevalent. It is important for society to distinguish between the two in order to effectively and
safely use the Internet and social media.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of easily obtainable information? The Internet is full
of endless information that is easily available at our fingertips. There are advantages and
disadvantages to having access to such easily obtainable information. One advantage would be
the ability to acquire more knowledge by having access to information outside of a classroom or
seminar. Gaining this information can help with school or work projects if you are able to find
helpful information. It is also a quick and convenient method of gathering data. An example of
how it might help an everyday citizen would be if a person were thinking of moving to a new
city or area, they could check the crime rates and frequency and look to see if any sex offenders
are in the area. This is a good way to keep your family safe by using the easily obtainable

aspects of Australian history. The film depicts heritage myths regarding Australian culture; and
Australia s size in the world at large. Weir s Gallipoli is taken from an Australian perspective and

The 20th Century saw the emergence of cinematography as a primary medium. One aspect of

Britain has with Australia. This scene in particular paints an accurate picture of the relationship
between the Australians and the British during, and after World War I. As stated before, Archy is

The second character that Weir introduces is Frank (played by Mel Gibson). It is implied that
Frank is Irish, with a long standing distrust of the British due to the fact that the British killed his

to help the British. He is depicted as a city slicker, that doesn t possess the qualities needed in

Puritan Ideology In Early America
Puritan ideology had a profound effect upon early America. Though they came to the New World
mainly for religious freedom after attempting to purify the Church of England, they left an impact
beyond just the spiritual as many men of the Puritan faith helped shape the young country. This
obviously led to the Puritans having a dramatic effect on the literature The whole life of a Puritan
was dedicated to God, as He was the only one who could offer salvation from eternal damnation.
They believed that humans are sinners incapable of earning God s merit on their own, and for
that reason they observed strict moral codes in order to ensure that they may receive God s grace.

One of his sermons, A Model of Christian Charity espouses central Puritan ideals. As stated
before the Puritans believed in a strict moral code in order to gain God s grace. One means of
living up to this code was helping those who were less fortunate. Winthrop not only
recommended charity towards others but stated it was a Christian duty saying, When there is no
other means by whereby our Christian brother may be relieved in his distress, we must help him
beyond our ability (208). In other words, he believed that as Christians the people should go
through drastic measures in order to help his common man. This lends itself to Puritan ideals, as
he personally believed this was a way of completing one s covenant with God and later suggested
that if all Christians can strive to practice the morals expressed in the Bible that they could perhaps
create a utopian community as a safe haven for all including the Native Americans. This in
particular was important at the time as the writings of Winthrop can perhaps be attributed to
improving relationships between the colonist and their neighbors in the new

children in the foundation years of schooling an enjoyable way to practice counting using rhyme

To start the lesson an introduction into counting to ten would be needed and would start with
asking the children if they know how to count to ten and to get them to count with you to ten in
order to demonstrate this ability. Once this has been satisfactorily accomplished the book
(press,2015) would then be introduced to the children and then read aloud to the whole class to
enable the children to hear the rhyme as a whole and to get a feel for how the rhyme flows
rhythmically along with the wording used. The rhyme would be read a few times depending on
the students, how they are feeling about the rhyme and if a few more repetitions are needed for
the children to gain a good understanding of the wording and flow of the rhyme. Once all students
are capable of reciting the rhyme along with the teacher and the book you can then move on to
more activities such as creating a drama play from the text depicting the ten children in the bed
with them rolling over and having one child fall out while reciting the rhyme as they go along
following up by asking the children to explain why they think a child kept falling out during the
rhyme and did they think ten children was too many fit in the bed to start with. This gives the
children a chance to gain deeper understanding of the counting used as they

The Marriage Of Maria Norler Analysis
In the article War Stories: The Search for a Usable Past in the Federal Republic of Germany
(1995), Robert G. Moeller, a professor of history at the University of California, Irvine, focuses
on the topical question of a treatment of the past by Germans in the post World War II Germany.
The author argues that to find a single viewpoint as for the Third Reich period is difficult and the
binary opposition of perpetrator and victim tends to impact the process of the national self
awareness and self identification greatly (1048). This results in an uncertainty of an ethical
assessment of the historical past and, what is more important, demonstration of a selective
memory. The purpose of this paper is to provide interpretation of the 1979 film The Marriage of
Maria Braundirected by Rainer Werner Fassbinder(1945 1982), a West German filmmaker and a
representative of the New German Cinema movement of the 1960s 1980s, taking into
consideration the ideas revealed in the article by Moeller. In this way, the main idea of the essay
is that in his film, Fassbinder reflects Moeller s concept of the selective memory by means of
dehumanization of film characters while showing the historical post war period of the German
Economic Miracle.
The main character of The Marriage is a woman named Maria. At the beginning of the film, she
marries a Wehrmacht officer Hermann Braun in the city of Berlin, which experiences an artillery
shelling by the Red Army right at the process of the wedding.

Black Americans And The Black Freedom Struggle
Many have thought that the end of the civil war was also the end of the suppression against
Black Americans. However, real freedom hasn t been present to them. Discriminations against
Black Americans were transformed and still exist in other aspects. The life of a Black American
was planned before he or she was born, not much freedom in their hands. Black American
experience disadvantage and discrimination in many different institutions that all prove the
existence of Neocolonialism. From housing to education, formal and informal social controls
prevented them from equality and freedom. Moreover, Black youth was forced to be in the
pipeline of incarceration from school, because of the lack of resources and attention to them. In
this ongoing fight for Black Freedom, many influential Black leaders stepped up. One of them
is one of the most important figures in the Black freedom struggle history, Ella Baker. This essay
will first, explain key issues on Black Americans freedom in housing and school to prison
pipeline, then identify Ella Baker s theory in the Black Freedom Struggle, and finally define what
freedom means. It s the American dream to own a house with beautiful white fences and yard and
live joyfully with families, but not many Black Americans can live up to that dream. The hate and
prejudice against Black American didn t reduce much since the end of the civil war. I m not
prejudice, but I d burn this building down before I d sell it to any damned nigger.

Compages And Disadvantages Of Costing Systems
Costing Systems
The costing systems aid companies in determining the cost of a product in relation to the revenue
the product generates. The costing systems commonly used in businesses include activity based
costing and traditional costing. Traditional costing system assigns the manufacturing overhead
based on the capacity of a cost driver. For example, the amount of direct working hours required to
produce a particular item. Cost drivers are factors that cause cost to incur, like machine hours, direct
material hours, and direct labor hours. Activity based costing system allocates cost of manufacturing
a product in accordance to the activities required to produce the particular item. It s therefore
essential for managers to understand the merits ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, in a banking context, the activity of a bank teller is ascribed to each item through
measuring how long each item transaction (cost driver) takes at a counter and them measuring the
number of each form of transaction. In a machinery context for the activity of running machinery,
the driver is often the machine operating hours i.e. machine operating hour s maintenance, power
cost in the running of machinery and labor cost activities.
ABC systems use activities as the main cost objects. The system works on the notion that activities
cause costs, and cost objects create demand for activities. The system is flexible as it relates costs
to customers, management responsibility and processor and not just the products. ABC system
applies activities as the basic cost objects while using the costs of such activities as the building
blocks for compiling costs of other cost objects.
The application of activity based costing system embraces advanced planning, control and
monitoring system that encompasses: activity based costing; activity based budgeting; activity
reporting; activity based cost management; performance benchmarking and measurement; customer

Compare And Contrast The American Industrial System...
With the internal improvements spreading throughout early America during the 1830 and 1840s,
science and organized experimentation became more important than ever. As a result of the
transportation revolution, America started undergoing revolutionary changes in its industrial
system. Manufacturers moved from being ran by small families to large business ran as the costs
and complexities increased. Additionally, in the 1840s, laborers started striking for better working
conditions and shorter workdays. With the rapidly growing industrialization, we start seeing a
greater need in the improvement of technology throughout America. Technologies such as the
Francis Turbine, which increased the efficiency of water power, are needed to power the larger
manufactures that continue to succeed. Furthermore, we see the ideology of Manifest Destiny play
a role by creating heavier need for a means of transportation, as well as that for a means of
communication. The circumstances leading up to and during the 1830 and 1840s create a larger
demand for technological innovations than ever... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The improvements such as the water turbines and many of the railroads spreading throughout the
countryside were created as a direct result of the need of these manufactures. The turbines and
mills allowed for them to run more efficiently or produce a wider variety of goods, while the
railroads increased the capability of importing goods and exporting produce. We see a direction
correlation between the manufacture s success and the improvement of technology and internal
improvement. The Boston Association recognized this connection and acted accordingly, in some
cases even funding additional railroads. The overall success of manufacturing in early America

The Tell Tale Heart Analysis

The Tell Tale Heart The Tell Tale Heart is a short story written by Edgar Allan Poe which reflects
the story of an unnamed narrator about his internal conflict and obsession. This story demonstrates
the imagination power of a person and how imagination can affect an individual s life. Here in this
story, the narrator commits a murder of an old man with whom he used to live with an unclear

The story, however, reflects the narrator loving that old man as it clearly states: I loved the old
man and in addition to that, the narrator speaks that: He had never wronged me (Poe 11). In the
story, the narrator was ensuring over that he is normal like other individuals, however, he points
out his hearing to be more acute as he claimed to hear different voices from heaven and hell
which could be hard to believe for a normal individual as mostly they are hypothetical or
delusional (Summary). This story written by Poe is a dark story whose primary focus is on the
event happened before, after and during the murder of an old man. Literally, this story is a first
person narrator story where the author is trying to deliver the sense of paranoia in addition to
the sense of irony. It took the almost eight days for the narrator to kill the old man and therefore,
he has been planning to kill the old man for a long time. For the seventh night, he has been
trying to kill the old man but every night he found his eyes to be closed. On the eighth day, the
narrator who was very obsessed with the old man s eye could see his eyes open. With his eyes
open, he could accomplish his motivation of killing the old man. However, as he sees the old man

The CSG has been shown to relieve women s care burdens to some extent in households (Patel

The Change Between Suspension Bridges Before 1940 and...
Suspension bridges were important before 1940 and are still important today. Major cities such as
San Francisco, and Manhattan both have a suspension bridge. Suspension bridges are, a bridge
having a deck suspended from cables anchored at their extremities and usually raised on towers
(dictionary.com). Due to the fact that suspension bridges are not completely supported throughout
the length of the bridge, past bridges were unsafe. For example, the Tacoma Narrows Bridgewas a
suspension bridgeopened on July 1st, 1940 (Mark Ketchum). This bridge marked a huge point in
suspension bridge safety and engineering, because in collapsed approximately four months after it

Sometimes the wind would not be perpendicular, in which the oscillation of the bridge was less,
but there was still some oscillation. On November 7th, 1940, the Tacoma Bridge collapsed
because the oscillation of the bridge became extreme. The oscillation of the bridge was caused
by a wind speed of 42 mph (HistoryLink.org). After, approximately, an hour of a corkscrew like
motion, the bridge collapsed into Puget Sound. This marked a huge turning point in the design
of suspension bridges from that point in time to current time. Initially, suspension bridges before
1940 were made of piers, towers, wires, anchorages, and roadways. Piers were the main
foundation for the suspension bridges. There usually were two of them, which were made out
of cement and were entrenched in ground underneath the body of water that the bridge was
spanned across. Towers were built on top of the piers to provide a means of connection for the
roadways and wires. Wires were connected to the towers, roadways, and anchorages to provide
tension support for the weight of the bridge. The anchorages were large cement platforms that
were planted into the ground on either side of the land so that the wires could be connected to it.
Lastly, the roadways were the main point of the suspension bridge. They usually were wide
enough to provide four lanes of traffic and stretched from one side of the bridge to the other. This
was the basic design of the suspension bridges

The Four Stages Of Group Development
The four stages of group development are forming, storming, norming, and performing. None of
the stages have to go in a particular order. Forming is the first stage where people join together
for a reason. Our group formed because this class put us together, which was mainly based on the
need to fulfill the goal of passing Small Group Communication and doing a service project
together. This happened when we filled out the sheets about our skills and whom we would and
would not like to work with. We were then all introduced to our new groups in class.
Stage two was next for us. This stage is called storming. This is the tension felt in the group. It is
fine for a group to have tension as long as it is a healthy balance of helpful and unhelpful tension.
There are two different types. The first is primary tension, which is what a group feels when
they first meet. That tension usually goes away over time as the group finds a sense of
cohesiveness. There is also secondary tension, which consists of the stress and strain of dealing
with deadlines, conflicts, and scheduling issues. Our group honestly had a very healthy balance
of tension. We all got along from the very first time we met. I even remember us all saying how
happy we were that we ended up in The Avengers. This continued on even with deadlines,
conflicts, and schedules. We all were very good about being flexible and open to new ideas for the
most part. I think that deadlines just pushed us to work harder and cooperate

Effects Of Animal Testing
Stop Animals From Suffering Scientific experiments use many different methods to find their
outcome; many of those experiments use animals. Scientists mainly use rodents and monkeys. In
the clinical trials, scientists torture or injure animals to act like the human subjects. From there,
scientists give the subjects drugs to see the effects produced. Then, they predict how it will affect
humans. This outcome only benefits humans. It does not benefit animals, it only hurts them.
Showing that human experiments involving animals has inhumane effects because it leads to
wrongful animal suffering and other alternatives to testing exist. The government has placed few
laws in order to prevent inhumane experiments. These laws explain how to correctly treat animals.
For example, scientists need to treat the animals with respect and care. One article states When
animal use is necessary, it should be carried out humanely and with concern for the comfort, general
health, and well being of the animals by scientist and staff who are qualified and trained to do the
work successfully. These concerns have been codified in The Animal Welfare Act and Guide for the
Care and Use of Animals in the United States ( Using ). To summarize that statement, scientists and
staff involved in animal experimentation must do such work and humanely carry out the medicine
on their subjects. However,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Swot Analysis Of Hijing Hyundai
Building Distribution Channels One of the most important challenges for Beijing Hyundai was to
develop distribution channels, and to decide where channels should be expanded geographically.
Beijing Hyundai decided to adopt the 4S Shop model, but had to decide where the company should
locate the shops. The company classified the China market into seven regions, north, south, east,
northeast, central, southwest, and northwest. These seven regions were then regrouped into two
major categories, an all cities expansion group (north, south, and east) and a core cities expansion
group (northeast, central, southwest, and northwest). The company then established a sequential
channel expansion strategy, following a hub and spoke pattern, for each of the two groups of
regions. With the hub and spoke approach for the all cities expansion group, Beijing Hyundai‟s
distribution channels made inroads into major hub cities in the north, south, and east, identified

world looked and worked. Many people might say, We know what happened in the ancient
world, there were carts and people died at like 40. But the reason we learned so much from
Pompeii specifically was because the scrolls in the city were so well preserved that they could be

and it described the event in tremendous detail. Finally, one last thing we learned from Pompeii

Fear In The Crucible
In 1953, the fear of communists infiltrating America caused a nationwide panic. The nation began a
witch hunt lead by Senator Joseph McCarthy to find these supposed communists. The government
targeted anyone and everyone, especially if they voiced opposition to the trials. Suspects threw
friends, acquaintances, and enemies under the bus to escape persecution. In response to this bout of
unjust trials, Arthur Miller wrote The Crucible, a book about the witch trials in Salem,
Massachusettsin 1692, which later became a movie 1996.
The movie opens in the woods, where the village s young girls are dancing and screaming in

Verbal Overhadowing Inaccuracies
Societies across the United States are comprised of many culturally diverse people. Each and every
individual possesses a distinct perception that differs from one another of events that have
transpired. For most people that desire to achieve a career in law enforcement, they depend heavily
on accurate, detailed eyewitness testimonials on a daily basis to apprehend the correct perpetrator
that had committed a crime. In fact, law officials frequently inquire about precise and dependable

The Link Between The Term Pidgins Essay
SOCIOLIANGUISTICS
ШЁШіЩ… Ш§Щ„Щ„Щ‡ Ш§Щ„Ш±ШЩ…Щ† Ш§Щ„Ш±ШЩЉЩ…
PIDGINS IN SUDIA ARABIA Pidgin could be defined as a language that results from two
different people who are not able to speak a each other language so they can interact with and
understand each other.
This is situation can be a result of different circumstances like war, colonization, slavery and
international trade.
Some definitions of pidgins although are pidgins have no static definitions : Ferguson (1971)
refers to pidgins and creoles as simplified speech used to communicate with people who are
considered unable to understand normal speech, such as babies or foreigners. One of the essential
points that should be clarified in this context is the link between the term pidgins. This linguistic
variety is used in the contact between two speech communities from two different linguistic
backgrounds (Al Azraqi 2010; Al Moaily, 2008).Bresnan and Roberts (2008:272) state that pidgins
develop as auxiliary languages and thus lack native communities, at least initially .
Although the contact is between two languages, the vocabulary of a pidgin comes particularly from
one dominant language called the lexifier or superstrate , while the non dominant language is
called the substrate (Al Moaily, 2008; Bizri, 2009; Al Azraqi, 2010). Pidgins also do not have a
stable grammatical structure and they are usually used specifically among adults for a short
period of time (Al Azraqi, 2010). However creoles are classified as more

Lindbergh Baby Case
Jessica L. Miller
Kaplan University
The justice system s major components are: police, courts, and corrections. Police are public
officials whose purpose is to maintain order and enforce the criminal law. Police officers work in
the community to prevent and control crime within their jurisdiction. This includes, but is not
limited to: speeding, illegal use of drugs, violence, and disruptive behavior. The police cooperate
with prosecutors in criminal investigations and help to provide evidence to obtain convictions in
the courts. In the Lindbergh case the police gathered evidence and investigated the disappearance

Condon, totaling to a staggering thirteen notes; some of which the Lindbergh s provided the
ransom money in gold certificates. All of the ransom notes were written in German penmanship
and had countless grammar errors. Suspects in the case included: Charles and Anne Lindbergh,
Elisabeth Morrow, Betty Gow, Oliver and Elsie Whately, and Bruno Richard Hauptmann.
Charles Sr. was a suspect because of his suspicious actions during the night Charles Jr. was taken
as well as throughout the investigation. He was in the study directly below his son s nursery
when he was taken and only heard a sound to which he suspected was something dropping in the
kitchen. He was also the person who found the first ransom letter, after the police, Anne, and
Betty Gow had searched the room for evidence. Anne was a suspect because she was also in the
home at the time of the kidnapping. Resting in her room, due to a cold, she did not hear any
suspicious noises. Anne s sister, Elisabeth Morrow, was suspected of the crime as well. She was
initially romantically involved with Charles Lindbergh, Sr. until he announced his engagement to
Anne. Over time she became both physically and emotionally ill. Fits of violence made her staff
believe that she had killed her own dog, and she was not allowed to be alone with Charles
Lindbergh, Jr. for fear that she would harm him in one of her fits. Oliver and Elsie Whately were
suspects because they were in the home at the time that the crime took place.

Double Displacement Reaction Lab Report
!!!What is a Double Displacement Reaction?
Let us imagine ourselves going to a dance and having a dance partner. Once we arrive to the
dance, we interact with other people and we end up switching dance partners with another person.
Now you end up with a new dance partner. The same kind of thing can be compared to what occurs
in a double displacement reaction in chemistry.
A __double displacement reaction__, also known as a __double replacement reaction__ or
__metathesis__ is a type of chemical reaction where two compounds react, and the positive ions (
cation ) and the negative ions ( anion ) of the two reactants switch places, forming two new
compounds or products. The general form of a double displacement reaction is illustrated ... Show

However, as we mentioned above, H2SO3 is unstable and further decomposes to H2O and SO2.
The gas formed is SO2.
!!!Lesson Summary
A __double displacement reaction__, also known as a __double replacement reaction__ or
__metathesis reaction__ is a type of reaction that occurs when the cations and anions switch
between two reactants to form new products. When predicting products in a double displacement
reaction, we need to identify the different ions first and their charges. After that, we switch the ions
of the two reactants and write down the products. The final step is to make sure that your chemical
equation is balanced.
There are three types of reactions that fall under the double displacement reaction category:
precipitation, gas formation and neutralization reactions. A __precipitation reaction__ forms an
insoluble solid compound. A __neutralization reaction__ occurs between an acid and a base that
forms a salt and water. A __gas formation__ reaction is when two compounds react to form a
gaseous

When I think of the summer I was sixteen, a lot of things some crowding in to be thought about.
We had moved just the year before, and sixteen is still young enough that the bunch makes a
difference. I had a bunch, all right, but they weren t sure of me yet. I didn t know why. Maybe
because I d lived in town, and my father still worked there instead of farming, like the other
fathers did. The boys I knew, even Freddy Gray and J.D., still kept a small ... Show more content on

Men came from miles around to look at it. Mr. Wills wouldn t let them go into the melon patch.
They had to stand around the edge.
Just like all other daredevil boys in that country, I guess, Freddy Gray and
J.D. and I had talked idly about stealing that giant watermelon. But we all knew that it was just talk.
Not only were we afraid of Mr. Wills and his rages but we knew that Mr. Wills sat in the hayloft
window of his barn every night with his shotgun, guarding the melon. It was his seed melon. He
meant to plant next year s crop out of that great one and maybe raise a whole field of them. Mr.
Wills was in a frenzy of fear that somebody would steal it. Why, he would rather you stole
Willadean than his melon. At least, he didn t guard Willadean with his shotgun.
Every night I could sit on our front porch and see Mr. Wills sitting up there in the window of his
hayloft, looking fiercely out over his melon patch. I d sit there by the hour and watch him, the
shotgun cradled in his arm, and feel the tremors of fear and excitement chasing up and down my
spine. Look at him, my father would say. Scared to death somebody will steal his seed melon.
Wouldn t anybody steal a man s seed melon.
He ought to be in the house taking care of that wife of his, my mother would say tartly. She s been
poorly all year.
You hardly ever saw Mrs. Wills. She was a wraith of a

Analysis Of The Psychodynamic Approach
The psychodynamic approach was developed by Sigmund Freud between 1890 and 1930.
Psychodynamic approach in psychology emphasizes on systematic study of the psychological
forces that underline human behaviour , feelings and emotions and how these relate to early
experience (Hill,2001). The basis of this approach is that psychological factors play a major role in
determining behaviour and shaping personality. Freud (1961) divided the human mind into three
parts the id, ego and superego so as to determine and understand the root causes of unusual
behaviour. Psychodynamic approach helps the individual to recognize the unconscious which have
an impact on behaviour. As a result, psychodynamic approach provides a comprehensive framework
that describes and explains human personality (Freud,1925).... Show more content on

Nonetheless, psychodynamic approach helps to focus on childhood past experience and the impact
on present behaviour (Freud,1925). However, the psychodynamic approach is very determinist as it
says that suffering childhood traumas lead to abnormal behaviour in adulthood (Mcleod,2015). As
a result it ignores the influence of genes, biological components and thinking patterns (Freud,1961).
Furthermore, psychoanalysis depends on the therapist interpretation of what the client says. As a
result the concepts can be biased as they are based on the therapist intervention. However,
psychodynamic utilises practical application and optimistic view that helps psychologists to treat
mental disorders and psychological distress (Luyten et al

Malicious Prosecution
Discussion I. Can our client satisfy the first requirement for a malicious prosecution suit that
requires that the termination of the earlier suit be in the plaintiff s favor when in our client s case
their termination was due to a voluntary dismissal by the initial plaintiff who changed her mind
about her claim?
To meet the first element favorable termination a plaintiffcannot rely on a settlement of the case that
both parties agree to. Once the litigation ends by settlement there is no favorable termination for the
purpose of pursuing a malicious prosecution. A favorable termination is satisfied by abandonment
or dismissal and without any final determination merits. However there are preceding cases that
require that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The judgment entered by the trial court on the motion to dismiss was reversed because a
termination must be in favor of the person against whom civil proceedings are brought.
To have an action for malicious prosecution, our client must prove that a favorable termination has
taken place. In the Colli case it establishes that a voluntary dismissal without prejudice of a will
contest is a favorable termination. In the Frey case it is stated that when a termination or dismissal
indicates in some fashion that the accused is innocent of wrongdoing it is a favorable termination.
Also a termination without a trial on the merits may be a favorable termination of litigation if the
circumstances indicate the innocence or freedom from liability of the defendant. In a case where
there is no adjunction on the merits the existence of favorable termination of the prior proceeding,
you must look at the facts to determine what actually occurred and whom the termination
benefitted. II. Can our client show a special injury from another earlier suit against him, as
required to have an action for malicious prosecution, when his charter boat was seized pending the
suit as allowed by state, and when his professional reputation was damaged because of the suit?
To meet the fourth element special injury a plaintiff must show a special injury from the previous
malicious suit. A special injury can be met by

Intersectionality And The Feminist Movement
Ever since Intersectionality was introduced as a component of feminism, the movement has
progressed exponentially. All individuals have many different characteristics and diverse
experiences that influence them as beings. Intersectionality addresses the fact that feminism is not
just about gender, but about society as a whole. The idea is that feminismis there to help all women,
but the issue is privileged women often times don t see that they are ostracizing minorities.
Intersectionality is used as a framework for feminist analysis. It is also needed for the progression
of the feminist movement because it acknowledges all categories that shape lives and proves that
women s oppressions are not just because of their gender, but the interaction of structural influences.

Intersectionality theorizes from a position of simultaneity (2012). This means that when thinking
about feminism and feminist movements, society cannot just think of one category but all
categories. For example, throughout history white feminists who advocated for equality among
gender, made movements but neglected the inclusion of women of color. If the concept of
intersectionality had existed during those shifts, women of color would not have been left out and
the progression would not only include white women and women of color, but those with
disabilities, transgendered people, all social

There s A Certain Slant Of Light
Emily Dickinson s poem There s a certain Slant of Light is a powerful reflection on the pain of
depression and other internal struggles. As a recluse, Dickinson most likely was familiar with these
feelings and conveys them in a way we can all relate to. Although cryptic at first, this poem
communicates many universal emotions as well as an insight into Dickinson s state of mind.
Stanza one opens with Dickinson referring to a certain Slant of light, Winter Afternoon . This light
is described in the rest of the work, although it is not the main idea. Dickinson capitalizes Slant and
Winter Afternoon to the characterize the setting. The Slant of the light refers to the time of day,
morning or evening, and Winter Afternoons describes the season

The Midlife Transition Of Daniel Levinson s Theories Of Life
The midlife crisis tale is true and can happen to you without you even thinking twice about it.
Daniel Levinson is a theorist, a graduate from Yale, who earned his degree as a psychologist. He
later developed a comprehensive theory of adult development. His theory, that he spent so much
of his late life working on, is so important because it suggests that growth and development still
happens well into the adult years. Daniel Levinson s theory is based on the underlying pattern of
an individuals life at any given point in time. He states, a person s life structure is shaped mainly
by their social and physical environment, and primarily involves family and work. Not only may

The stage that I am currently involved in is the early adult stage. How I fit just perfectly in this
stage is because I am beginning to support myself in ways that my parents do not have to such as

parents would not think is a priority to have such as: clothes, shoes, purses, jewelry and many
more. But with having my own job I am able to support myself in ways that my parents can help
my younger siblings out. Levinson says that this stage is where the young adults starts to make
preliminary choices for adult life. How I connect with this is that I have two credit cards and able

He mentioned the ups and downs that occurred to some civilizations and how some triumphed while others did not. Which leads to the main dilemma Wright argues about, which is the current destruction of the environment around us. He grabs our attention by making us think about the three philosophical questions that the painter and writer Paul Gauguin asked in one of his paintings. Where do we come from? What are we? Where are we going? Wright tends to focus on the third question throughout the book to answer where we are heading. He mentioned how some of the past history has been a cycle of what he calls a progress trap. A progress trap is an action or notion that may help gain power, wealth, or some type of benefit for some time but may result catastrophic at the end. That is why he focused on the patterns in past civilization to see their rise and fall in history. Those civilizations that achieved amazing things, for example the Mayan and Sumerians, would then fall victims to the success they once achieved. Wright packs his book with proof that our longing for more is leading us towards the same destruction like many great civilizations have in the past. We as people are causing great harm to the ecosystem, which is something explained by Wright as a type of impulse that people have had all through history. It is something we need to find a solution for and put into action quickly. Mister Wright at the end made a good point Now is our last chance to get the future right (Wright ... Moeller, a professor of history at the University of California, Irvine, focuses on the topical question of a treatment of the past by Germans in the post World War II Germany. The author argues that to find a single viewpoint as for the Third Reich period is difficult and the binary opposition of perpetrator and victim tends to impact the process of the national self awareness and self identification greatly (1048). This results in an uncertainty of an ethical assessment of the historical past and, what is more important, demonstration of a selective memory. The purpose of this paper is to provide interpretation of the 1979 film The Marriage of Maria Braundirected by Rainer Werner Fassbinder(1945 1982), a West German filmmaker and a representative of the New German Cinema movement of the 1960s 1980s, taking into consideration the ideas revealed in the article by Moeller. In this way, the main idea of the essay is that in his film, Fassbinder reflects Moeller s concept of the selective memory by means of dehumanization of film characters while showing the historical post war period of the German Economic Miracle. The main character of The Marriage is a woman named Maria. At the beginning of the film, she marries a Wehrmacht officer Hermann Braun in the city of Berlin, which experiences an artillery shelling by the Red Army right at the process of the wedding. ... However, real freedom hasn t been present to them. Discriminations against Black Americans were transformed and still exist in other aspects. The life of a Black American was planned before he or she was born, not much freedom in their hands. Black American experience disadvantage and discrimination in many different institutions that all prove the existence of Neocolonialism. From housing to education, formal and informal social controls prevented them from equality and freedom. Moreover, Black youth was forced to be in the pipeline of incarceration from school, because of the lack of resources and attention to them. In this ongoing fight for Black Freedom, many influential Black leaders stepped up. One of them is one of the most important figures in the Black freedom struggle history, Ella Baker. This essay will first, explain key issues on Black Americans freedom in housing and school to prison pipeline, then identify Ella Baker s theory in the Black Freedom Struggle, and finally define what freedom means. It s the American dream to own a house with beautiful white fences and yard and live joyfully with families, but not many Black Americans can live up to that dream. The costing systems commonly used in businesses include activity based costing and traditional costing. Traditional costing system assigns the manufacturing overhead based on the capacity of a cost driver. For example, the amount of direct working hours required to produce a particular item. Cost drivers are factors that cause cost to incur, like machine hours, direct material hours, and direct labor hours. Activity based costing system allocates cost of manufacturing a product in accordance to the activities required to produce the particular item. • 28. Compare And Contrast The American Industrial System... With the internal improvements spreading throughout early America during the 1830 and 1840s, science and organized experimentation became more important than ever. As a result of the transportation revolution, America started undergoing revolutionary changes in its industrial system. Manufacturers moved from being ran by small families to large business ran as the costs and complexities increased. Additionally, in the 1840s, laborers started striking for better working conditions and shorter workdays. With the rapidly growing industrialization, we start seeing a greater need in the improvement of technology throughout America. Technologies such as the Francis Turbine, which increased the efficiency of water power, are needed to power the larger manufactures that continue to succeed. Furthermore, we see the ideology of Manifest Destiny play a role by creating heavier need for a means of transportation, as well as that for a means of communication. Major cities such as San Francisco, and Manhattan both have a suspension bridge. Suspension bridges are, a bridge having a deck suspended from cables anchored at their extremities and usually raised on towers (dictionary.com). Due to the fact that suspension bridges are not completely supported throughout the length of the bridge, past bridges were unsafe. On November 7th, 1940, the Tacoma Bridge collapsed because the oscillation of the bridge became extreme. The oscillation of the bridge was caused by a wind speed of 42 mph (HistoryLink.org). After, approximately, an hour of a corkscrew like motion, the bridge collapsed into Puget Sound. This marked a huge turning point in the design of suspension bridges from that point in time to current time. Initially, suspension bridges before 1940 were made of piers, towers, wires, anchorages, and roadways. Piers were the main foundation for the suspension bridges. There usually were two of them, which were made out of cement and were entrenched in ground underneath the body of water that the bridge was spanned across. Towers were built on top of the piers to provide a means of connection for the roadways and wires. Wires were connected to the towers, roadways, and anchorages to provide tension support for the weight of the bridge. The anchorages were large cement platforms that were planted into the ground on either side of the land so that the wires could be connected to it. Lastly, the roadways were the main point of the suspension bridge. They usually were wide enough to provide four lanes of traffic and stretched from one side of the bridge to the other. Forming is the first stage where people join together for a reason. Our group formed because this class put us together, which was mainly based on the need to fulfill the goal of passing Small Group Communication and doing a service project together. This happened when we filled out the sheets about our skills and whom we would and would not like to work with. We were then all introduced to our new groups in class. Stage two was next for us. This stage is called storming. This is the tension felt in the group. It is fine for a group to have tension as long as it is a healthy balance of helpful and unhelpful tension. There are two different types. The first is primary tension, which is what a group feels when they first meet. That tension usually goes away over time as the group finds a sense of cohesiveness. There is also secondary tension, which consists of the stress and strain of dealing with deadlines, conflicts, and scheduling issues. Our group honestly had a very healthy balance of tension. We all got along from the very first time we met. I even remember us all saying how happy we were that we ended up in The Avengers. This continued on even with deadlines, conflicts, and schedules. The government has placed few laws in order to prevent inhumane experiments. These laws explain how to correctly treat animals. For example, scientists need to treat the animals with respect and care. One article states When animal use is necessary, it should be carried out humanely and with concern for the comfort, general health, and well being of the animals by scientist and staff who are qualified and trained to do the work successfully. These concerns have been codified in The Animal Welfare Act and Guide for the Care and Use of Animals in the United States ( Using ). When predicting products in a double displacement reaction, we need to identify the different ions first and their charges. After that, we switch the ions of the two reactants and write down the products. The final step is to make sure that your chemical equation is balanced. There are three types of reactions that fall under the double displacement reaction category: precipitation, gas formation and neutralization reactions. A __precipitation reaction__ forms an insoluble solid compound. A __neutralization reaction__ occurs between an acid and a base that forms a salt and water. Every night I could sit on our front porch and see Mr. Wills sitting up there in the window of his hayloft, looking fiercely out over his melon patch. I d sit there by the hour and watch him, the shotgun cradled in his arm, and feel the tremors of fear and excitement chasing up and down my spine. Look at him, my father would say. Scared to death somebody will steal his seed melon. Wouldn t anybody steal a man s seed melon. He ought to be in the house taking care of that wife of his, my mother would say tartly. The basis of this approach is that psychological factors play a major role in determining behaviour and shaping personality. Freud (1961) divided the human mind into three parts the id, ego and superego so as to determine and understand the root causes of unusual behaviour. However, the psychodynamic approach is very determinist as it says that suffering childhood traumas lead to abnormal behaviour in adulthood (Mcleod,2015). As a result it ignores the influence of genes, biological components and thinking patterns (Freud,1961). Furthermore, psychoanalysis depends on the therapist interpretation of what the client says. As a result the concepts can be biased as they are based on the therapist intervention.
