Senior Manager Operations – Trinidad & Tobago (2015 – Present)
Petrotrin is the state owned oil refinery of the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago with 1,600 direct refinery
employees and 5,400 company employees.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
• Hold full strategic and tactical management responsibility for all operations
• Provision of change management program and organisational restructuring to address previous poor
refinery performance and high cost burden
• Managing planned and unplanned shutdowns
• Deputise as Vice President of Refining when required
• Liaising with Government Agencies in relation to refinery operations
Key Achievements:
• Increased and sustained FCCU rate from 25,000 bbl/day to 30,000 bbl/day

Strategic Manager – Milford Haven, UK (2011 – 2014)
Milford Haven Refinery is located on a 1200 acre site; with 376 company employees. The refinery has an
annual processing capacity of 6.6 million tonnes (135,000 barrels per day).
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
• Hold full strategic management responsibility of the Operations, Economic and Planning functions
• Establishing future strategic capital requirements for the refinery
• Managing planned and unplanned shutdowns
• Financial responsibility for the refinery, including gaining capital investment for process improvements
• Deputise for the Refinery Manager when required
• Liaising with Government Agencies in relation to refinery operations
Key Achievements:
• Successful completed whole refinery start-up after power outage with no safety or environmental
issues within record 48 hours of shutdown whilst delegating as Refinery Manager
• Successful shutdown and restart of FCCU for coded shell repair in 5.6 days oil to oil, on grade,
without safety or environmental incident.

• Rebuilt the Linear Program model for the refinery, defining give-away calculations, preparing budgets
and margin calculations
• Chair the Strategic Teams which have achieved unprecedented cost reductions of 0.80 $/bbl, through
reduction in energy usage, reduction in slop generation, improvements in reliability, increase in jetty
capacity and flexibility, reduction in demurrage, broaden feedstock selection and product variety;
creating an annual saving of $39 million

Operations Manager, Milford Haven, UK (2008 – 2011)
Milford Haven refinery imports all its feedstock across a sea-fed jetty, with a range of finished products
exported by road, rail, sea and underground pipeline.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
• Responsible for all Refinery operations, including the processing facilities, importing feedstock and
storage areas
• Leading refinery planning and scheduling teams to optimise performance of processing units
• Provide operational leadership, direct capital creation efforts, identifying process improvement
opportunities.
• Negotiate distribution transactions; establish strategic alliances with suppliers
• Engaging with the board and key stakeholders in relation to the refinery’s performance
• Liaising with Government Agencies in relation to refinery operations
• The position reports to the Refinery Manager and managed 8 direct and 160 indirect reports.
Key Achievements:
• Managed all operational responsibilities for the 2010 Refinery Turnaround to achieve plant
debottleneck from 108,000 bbl/day to 135,000 bbl/day without a safety incident. This included
managing change for all operational procedures, control system interface, operating permits, operator
training, resource loading operating training, etc... In effect, starting a new Refinery.
• Optimisation of performance increasing production by 35% and reducing operating costs
• Identification and quantification of opportunities; conceptual and detailed engineering such as
increase in crude and reformer capacity debottleneck
• Achieved continuous improvement during period as Operations manager with consecutive monthly
processing records established.
• Achieved NVQ level 5 in Operational Management (Masters equivalent) during period as Operations
Manager in recognition of competence.
Planning & Optimisation Manager, Milford Haven, UK (2008 – 2008)
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
• Responsible for Refinery planning & scheduling to ensure production levels are achieved,
• Managing oil accounts and instigating performance control measures; hydrocarbon inventory
accounting and duty payments of £600 million/annum
• Financial accountability for refinery operational costs
• Reported to the Refinery Manager and Managed 5 direct and 20 indirect reports
Key Achievements:
• Achieved "low risk" status with Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs. This avoids the need to have a
Refinery presence by HMRC.
• Reduced Kerosene slopping to crude by 50,000 bbl/annum saving $120,000/annum

Accountable for the financial and operational performance of the FCCU, Vacuum unit, HF Alkylation Unit,
Reformer, Dimersol and Merox Units. Reporting to the Operations Manager and managed 50 direct reports.
Planning Manager. (1996 – 2001), Milford Haven, UK
Responsible for the refinery’s planning, scheduling performance control and laboratory.
Managed the interface between the refinery, the board and shareholders; providing economic and technical
guidance both strategically and operationally. Managed complete rebuild of Refinery economic model (Linear
Program)
Control Applications Superintendent, (1995 – 1996), Milford Haven, UK
Responsible for the IT and advance processing control systems. Sourced and implemented advanced process
control software, introduced Local Area Network (LAN) and Laboratory Information and Management System
(LIMS). Advanced Process Control Systems payback was confirmed at less than six months. LIMS and
process control interfaces brought current data to engineers and operators to improve performance monitoring
and control.

Managed the Inspection and Engineering departments, this involved providing technical support and
mentoring of the engineers; specialising in advance control applications. Responsibilities included project
