1. NHS Advertising Assignment Review – Charlotte Bracken
For the assignment we were given a live brief with expectations which needed
to be met. It was to create a 90 second video with no sound for the NHS. There
were four different briefs given to the class and these where given to individual
groups made up of 3 or four people, who all had a role within the group they
had to follow. I was given group leader in my group which was made up of four
people when then ended up being a group of 2 considering one person left and
the other person had a large amount of time off college so the project was
divided into two. We had been given the brief ‘Right Treatment, Right Place’
which in itself had 3 individual areas such as ‘Self Care’, ’Professional Care’ and
‘A&E’ . Dividing it up, and then focusing on each one separately, we ended up
doing two videos and taking pictures. One video was based on Self Care and
another video was based on A&E while the pictures taken focused on
Professional Care. On Professional Care we took pictures of outside a pharmacy
as we were not allowed to film within the pharmacy as there where
complications.
Our initial ideas of the film changed a lot as we thought about it and discussed
it as a group, about some of the difficulties we may have during these ideas.
Due to us loosing members of the group, the first initial idea was delayed as
some members where meant to be in the filming itself. An attendance issue
arose and made it a problem to do the work as we didn’t know who within the
group had done what and we lost balance until myself and Ashleigh put our
heads together to get the work done. Ashleigh herself focused on all of the
written work as she worked strongest in that area which I considered while I
focused on the editing using Adobe After Effects, Adobe PhotoShop and Adobe
Premier, i pieced all of the footage and images we had together to create a 90
second film. Also the usage of text was within the film to give small brief
explanations people can read on each of the areas we had to cover.
Ashleigh was the first to film as she focused on ‘Self Care’ which she filmed at
her home within her bedroom. This involved a small minor illness being
2. treated at home why the person was in bed. And she also did the majority of
the written work such as;
Moodboards which we all took a part in
Story Boards
Location Recognisances
Schedules
Mind maps which everyone did
Calling Sheets
Once all of the written work was sorted and completed, we filmed in places we
chosen and it all came together and I am pleased with the final product and all
the work that has been put into it to get this assignment finished and
completed. We did meet the final deadline but because we didn’t spend as
much time on the actual advert and start the filming and planning earlier, we
suffered from this as the standard of the final product isn’t as good as we
expected it to be.
Even though we got through all of the issues that occurred during the process
of this project, there are still a number of things I would do differently if I had
the chance to do this project again, such as ;
Make sure I get into a group of people I can depend on, who will stick to
the project and I can count on to be in and complete the work
Start the planning and construct the ideas earlier than we did do to get
more time for the development of the project
Write down a list of places we could film and take images so we can get
permission and sort it all out.
In the end, the NHS project was a success even though there where
complications and ups and downs. The whole experience was helpful for future
projects.
