Seminar - Disruptive innovation, what if... - Maria SpiesLearningandTeaching
In this seminar, the concept of ‘disruptive innovation’ is explored by Maria Spies. Some predict that disruption is imminent in the global education sector and and talk covers current trends in global education, along with possible future ‘disrupted’ scenarios. What is the future if disruption occurs? How is our business placed in these scenarios? What can we do to plan for such scenarios?
The presentation will answer the following questions:
What is the true state of the ICT industry in Canada? What are some of the specialized skills employers looking for? How do you add these highly specialized tech skills to your knowledgebase? What technologies do I need to look out for and how do you keep pace with the changes?

Workshop on Knowledge-based Service Innovation2016
The world’s economy is increasingly service-based. More than 75% of GDP in the developed markets including Hong Kong is already services based. Service innovation – not only in services but also in manufacturing sectors – is already becoming a significant transformational force for these developed economies. This workshop provides participants with: (1) an overall understanding of the fundamental ways by which a firm’s knowledge-based organizational capabilities enable service innovation and how these capabilities must be configurable and aligned with the enterprise strategy for superior value co-creation with the customers; (2) a holistic and in-depth understanding of prevailing practical methods for developing and aligning the service innovation models, processes and operations with both the espoused enterprise strategy and customer value proposition to achieve sustainable competitive advantage; and (3) to relate and assess the suitability of the strategy-aligned service innovation concepts, models and methods for their own organizations. Furthermore, to operationalise the above, the Workshop also focusses on the key business concepts and technologies for organizations to orchestrate service innovations. Among others, agile organisations need to possess dynamic capabilities, constantly explore new business models, and foster quality process management via good governance and flexibility. Advancements in Cloud Computing and Business Process Management (BPM) provide the much needed business and technological support for organisations to practice the above. The Cloud provides far more than just scale-able IT infrastructure but increasingly being seen as a compelling force for engineering on demand business innovations. Cloud-based services can be charged as pay by usage hence shielding many businesses from the risks that are commonly associated with launching a new business venture. In the Cloud, expertise, solutions and creative ideas can be sourced as well as the design and execution of collaborative Knowledge Work.

Entrepreneurial Mindset for Engineering UndergraduatesEditorIJAERD
Engineering leverages engineering knowledge and is able to bring real value to the global marketplace,
particularly in the area of creative and disruptive technology capable of improving the lives of others on the global
marketplace. New product development creates both jobs and revenue for companies in the technology field; it is also the
engine that maintains the country's leading role in the world’s economy. Engineering education, therefore, must teach
engineers-to be how to be entrepreneurially minded so they can be key influencers in creating new products. This new
educational paradigm must include not only instruction in the technical fundamentals of engineering, but also incorporate
insight into the importance of customer awareness, an introduction to business principles, as well as a focus on societal
needs and values. These precepts need to be integrated into curricular as well as co- and extra-curricular activities. The
purpose of this literature review was to explore the importance of entrepreneurial mindset for engineering undergraduates to
develop their entrepreneurial intention
Workshop on Knowledge-based Service Innovation2016
The world’s economy is increasingly service-based. More than 75% of GDP in the developed markets including Hong Kong are produced by services. Service innovation in both services and manufacturing sectors is shaping up as a significant transformational force in these developed economies. Accordingly, firms in developed markets are becoming service centered, and focused on enhancing the customer experience. Service centered firms often co-create value with their customers through the dynamic configuration of their people (knowledge), processes and technologies which, collectively, are known as organizational capabilities.
The market is changing fast, and jobs are being reinvented every 3-5 years. The problem is, we can’t go back to school every 3-5 years because it’s time consuming and expensive. Combined with people’s changing workplace expectations, we find ourselves in a new working world with a different set of employee engagement challenges.
The solution to all these challenges is to consumerize learning at work. Why? Your training solution should operate at a higher level. Your employees expect the best user experience from their favorite personal apps in their daily lives, and the technology expectation at work should be no different. People want an intuitive and engaging learning experience so that they can acquire new skills at their moment of need. This is what consumerizing learning is able to achieve. In order to succeed at developing and retaining the best talent, organizations today must invest in consumer-first learning technology that keeps up with changes in the market, and keeps employees productive and happy.
Key Takeaways:
- Why learning is being consumerized and what you can do to manage it
- The key changes in learner behavior and the learning landscape
- What it means to offer a consumer-first learning solution

The industry is growing very fast. They demand highly accomplished graduates with accomplishment. The engineering institutes have to modernize the workshops, laboratories and computer centers. The need to be developed through industry specific skills in planning, designing, developing prototypes testing, and refining. They should be innovators.
The developing countries have to evaluate the existing vocational education programs against the needs of Industry 4.0 and improve them to meet the job specification. There is a need for cooperation and collaboration with the industries in the industrial corridor and hubs.
Planning industry relevant engineering programs to meet the needs of industr...Thanikachalam Vedhathiri
The impact of Industry-4.0, and disruptive technologies demand industry ready graduates. This PPT gives a method planning industry specific engineering programs.
Education 4.0 … the future of learning will be dramatically different, in school and throughout life.
Global connectivity, smart machines, and new media are just some of the drivers reshaping how we think about work, what constitutes work, and how we learn and develop the skills to work in the future. The concept of a “100 year life” becoming the norm, and the majority of that spent studying and working, means that learning will be a lot more important, and different, for the next generations. Most people will have at least 6 different careers, requiring fundamental reeducating, whilst the relentless speed of innovation will constantly demand new skills and knowledge to keep pace, let alone an edge.
“Education 4.0” is my vision for the future of education, which
1.) responds to the needs of “industry 4.0” or the fourth industrial revolution, where man and machine align to enable new possibilities
2.) harnesses the potential of digital technologies, personalized data, open sourced content, and the new humanity of this globally-connected, technology-fueled world
3.) establishes a blueprint for the future of learning – lifelong learning – from childhood schooling to continuous learning in the workplace, to learning to play a better role in society.
Industry 4.0 (IR4.0) & Teaching New Trends in Education with HOTS.Timothy Wooi
Objectives
The main objective of the seminar is to understand how Educational sector can respond to and prepare for educating the 4th Industrial Revolution;
using technological strategies of CHANGE in skills & work,
To prepare Students to be competitive & current to fit in the emerging 4th Industrial Revolution Workforce.
2019 SITEC E-Commerce Class 302: Facebook Marketing by Jacksion Yangsitecmy
SITEC E-COMMERCE CLASS 302 IS FACEBOOK MARKETING
Since Facebook is one of the largest social media platforms in the world, Facebook marketing has become one of the biggest digital channels in terms of new opportunities. The platform offers a variety of different paid and organic tools for brands to surface themselves to Facebook's sprawling user base. As with any other digital channel, there are certain things a marketing manager has to do to optimize for discoverability.
Unfortunately, many businesses assume that social media websites, particularly Facebook, are just opportunities to stand on a soap box and broadcast your brand message to the millions of people who use the platform. When that does not work, many of these businesses will just give up and declare that Facebook does not work for them.
The trouble is that this is not the role of Facebook. People are not on social media to listen to sales pitches, they are there to be social with their friends and the brands they like. Customers today value brands that take the time to get to know them on a personal level, rather than acting as an impersonal corporation.

Internet marketing is the marketing of digital products, especially through online networks to promote products or services. These include mobile phones, display ads, and any digital media.
Online marketing has changed the way companies and brands use technology to market. As the growing number of platforms gradually integrate into everyday life and marketing programs, people tend to use more electronic devices than to visit physical stores, and online marketing has become commonplace and effective.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

GDG Cloud Southlake #33: Boule & Rebala: Effective AppSec in SDLC using Deplo...James Anderson
Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
