Daily Mirror (Tabloid)
This newspaper is a tabloid newspaper so this is available nation wide , this newspaper is a big
comparison compared to the broadsheet newspapers . The Masthead on this newspaper is like all
over newspapers it is a big font which draws the reader into it , also the white on top of red really
brings it out and engages you to pick it up . Also on the front page an advert is visible this only
generally seems to be seen on the tabloids as they can receive money from other companies in a 360
degree branding movement . The sub story is in a visible area down the left hand side as the
background is purple , also she has been mounted onto the purple which makes her stand out ,
furthermore as she is a ‘royal’ this will engage a mass audience to see what she wears . Moving onto
the main headline it has a smaller section of writing that is hitting at the government in charge which
shows the newspaper its self is against the Tories , the headline its self is centred to the page and the
area around the writing is in black which also makes the headline stick out to the reader . The
headline its self is a pun which is almost a tagline for you wanting to read into it , furthermore the
small section at the bottom has another pun and dig on the government with the use of ‘No10’ . The
pictures on the paper show you what is going on and for some people they love having visual aspects
to look at but generally the tabloid papers put a big picture followed by the headline and then a small
picture to follow which makes you want to turn to the actual page and read the full story .

Sub Story
Evening Telegraph (Broadsheet)
This newspaper is a local newspaper for the town , The masthead is a clear bold blue colour
which sticks out it is also clear for the date and price which is sometimes harder to see in the
tabloid papers . Also in the top left corner there is the ‘steelman’ which is symbolic to Corby as a
town and as the paper is bias to Corby this will encourage local people to buy the paper . On this
paper there is a lead paragraph which is able to read on the tabloid this was non existent , the
lead paragraph leads as a bait to real you in to read the full story inside . The main story line on
this broadsheet is a bad news story with a graphic picture of what's happening whereas this
normally happens on a tabloid paper . The Sub story is a local based story about what has been
happening in the local area which is effective because as someone who lives in the are you want
to know what is happening . Also the properties today page is effective because if you live in the
local area you can advertise your property and also browse properties in the area which adds to
the community feeling of the newspaper. The narrative of this newspaper can be negative
towards the local people by blackmailing certain individuals and posting pictures of crimes that
have happened .

Non League (Broadsheet)
The layout of this paper has been organised with the big picture at the top which is the main
story line , also the lead paragraph that is on this uses alliteration which when the reader reads
and rolls of the tongue which is what you want rather than a wordy piece of text . Now using this
alliteration could connote that the people reading the paper prefer easy reading text rather than
hard complex text . The colours on this front page are all bright with colours such as reds ,
orange and yellows these are bright colours that connote the football season when based in
summer . The sub stories on the side of the paper are based in red and they are bad story lines
so the red colour connotes danger which is why they are in this section . This newspaper seems
to have an indirect mode this is because it is not directed exactly at a specific audience ,
although the audience for this would be a niche market as if you are not interested in sport then
there is no need to buy it and read it .
