The PEST-MAN project aims to understand pesticide use, persistence, impacts, and develop remediation methods. It will examine key pesticides in Ireland, their effects on soil and risks. Studies will identify areas at high risk of pesticide loss and test materials for removing pesticides from water. Field sites are being monitored and interventions will be installed after one year. The project engages stakeholders and the public through social media and its website.

Toxic effect of cythion and dieldrin on the biomass of Earthworms (Eisenia fo...AM Publications,India
This research has demonstrated the importance of earthworm in agriculture. The survival rate was diminished due to the toxic impact of cation and dieldrine was found to be important as compared to control. The cythion and dieldrin affected on the biomass of the crawler. We had taken acute test for effects of selected pesticide on the earthworms Eisenia foetida. We were using different concentrations of pesticide like 4, 8, 12, 16 and 20 mg/kg of dieldrin and 3, 6, 9, 12 and15 mg/kg of cythion.
This presentation highlights key methods and issues arising from the research in the EU Horizon funded projects MINAGRIS and SPRINT regading the presence and effect of pesticides and plastics in the soil.
Problem Formulation as an Ecological Testing and Assessment Tool for Microbia...OECD Environment
The seminar on Problem Formulation for the Risk Assessment of Biopesticides stemmed from a previous CRP-sponsored event on Innovating Microbial Pesticide Testing that identified the need for an overarching guidance document to determine when in vivo tests are necessary. Problem Formulation, a common practice in pesticide risk assessment, was highlighted as a useful approach for addressing uncertainties in data requirements for biopesticides.
The seminar featured presentations from various perspectives, including industry, regulatory bodies, and academia. Topics included the history and principles of Problem Formulation, industry perspectives on Problem Formulation and how it is applied internally for microbial pesticides, regulatory approaches, and specific case studies. The seminar provided an overview of the challenges, considerations, and potential solutions in harmonising Problem Formulation for biopesticide risk assessment. It emphasised the need for collaboration and discussion to develop Problem Formulation guidance for biopesticides.

Pesticides play a sensitive role in food systems. we can see a visible parallel correlation between higher productivity, high chemical input use and environmental degradation and human health effects. There is need to be aware of pesticides pollution, its impact and make policies for its reduction.

Altered Terrain: Colonial Encroachment and Environmental Changes in Cachar, A...PriyankaKilaniya
The beginning of colonial policy in the area was signaled by the British annexation of the Cachar district in southern Assam in 1832. The region became an alluring investment opportunity for Europeans after British rule over Cachar, especially after the accidental discovery of wild tea in 1855. Within this historical context, this study explores three major stages that characterize the evolution of nature. First, it examines the distribution and growth of tea plantations, examining their size and rate of expansion. The second aspect of the study examines the consequences of land concessions, which led to the initial loss of native forests. Finally, the study investigates the increased strain on forests caused by migrant workers' demands. It also highlights the crucial role that the Forest Department plays in protecting these natural habitats from the invasion of tea planters. This study aims to analyze the intricate relationship between colonialism and the altered landscape of Cachar, Assam, by means of a thorough investigation, shedding light on the environmental, economic, and societal aspects of this historical transformation.
