AFCEA Cybersecurity through Continuous Monitoring: SolarWinds Survey Results ...SolarWinds
WINNER: Overall Best In Show at 2014 AFCEA® Cyber Conference Solutions Trail
In a 2014 survey by SolarWinds and Market Connections, federal government and military IT professionals stated that their biggest cybersecurity threats are people both malicious external attackers and clueless insiders. So how do Federal IT Pros prevent activity that can put their agencies security at risk and address these living cybersecurity threats when human behavior is out of their
control? Implementing continuous monitoring solutions can help federal agencies safeguard against human error and quickly identify vulnerabilities, compliance issues and other threats by automatically collecting data and reporting on the performance, availability and security posture of an IT infrastructure. While continuous monitoring of the performance of networks, applications, servers, and
more will not stop hackers from attempting to infiltrate a network or stop careless employees from accidental blunders, it can provide a first line of defense and critical insight into how the IT infrastructure is impacted. In this session you will learn: " The top cybersecurity threats plaguing agencies today and their sources " The types of continuous monitoring tools and technologies that can be leveraged by both IT operations and information security simultaneously to quickly detect and mitigate threats " How to overcome common obstacles and frustrations agencies face when implementing continuous monitoring solutions and what benefits they see upon implementation.

Consumers take three main steps to manage their online reputation:
1. Most consumers restrict who has access to their personal and professional online profiles and sites to separate their identities.
2. Doing regular self-searches and using privacy settings to limit access to profiles are common steps taken by consumers to manage their reputation.
3. While consumers employ both proactive and reactive reputation management strategies, they are divided on how much control they have over their online reputation and who is responsible for issues that arise.
This research examines the expanding role of online reputation in both professional and
personal lives. It studies how recruiters and HR professionals use online reputational
information in their candidate review processes, and how consumers feel about this use of their information. It investigates the steps consumers take to monitor and protect their online reputation.

A survey of ship owners, operators, and charterers found they were generally confident in their understanding of upcoming IMO regulations for Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plans (SEEMP). Most companies had SEEMP plans in place, though Asian companies were less prepared. Larger companies favor electronic SEEMP methods while smaller companies prefer paper-based plans due to lower costs. However, electronic SEEMP may provide efficiency savings that many smaller companies are unaware of. While paper-based plans are easier, electronic options may improve efficiency and support paperless systems. Increased information could help smaller owners better implement effective and cost-saving SEEMP compliance.

Rules put in place to slow the spread of the infection have resulted in a mass transition to remote working, rewriting the idea of ‘normalcy’ and forcing many businesses to adapt in the face of new challenges. At Tiger, we wanted to learn more about how employers and employees are reacting to this unprecedented event to help shed light on an uncertain situation.
This document summarizes a webinar about moving applications to the cloud. It discusses the results of a survey of 190 organizations regarding their cloud application adoption. The survey found that email, file sharing, CRM and accounting applications were most commonly moved to the cloud. The primary drivers for cloud adoption were improved mobility, flexibility of the modern workplace, and improved end-user efficiency. However, security concerns and outdated manual provisioning processes were still significant barriers preventing further cloud application adoption. The webinar provided recommendations for automating provisioning and implementing single sign-on to help organizations better navigate the transition to cloud applications.
Social: Session 6: Social CRM Tools: What Makes Sense and What Doesn't SugarCRM
This document summarizes a presentation about social CRM tools. It discusses how social tools are commonly deployed separately from CRM rather than being integrated. It also notes that while organizations want benefits like efficiency and collaboration, they are not achieving benefits like improved customer service. The presentation recommends focusing social tools on business processes and customers by selecting the right tools for each process and context rather than deploying all tools. It provides examples of how tools like group chat could be used for customer support escalation.
This document summarizes research showing that the percentage of women software developers has declined from 42% in 1987 to less than 25% today, despite women representing half the workforce and influencing most consumer technology purchases. It finds that women avoid software careers due to hostile environments, unsustainable pace, lack of purpose/advancement, and few peers/mentors. The document argues that agile values of collaboration, craftsmanship, customer focus and adaptability could help address these issues and better attract and retain women developers.

CAKE: Sharing Slices of Confidential Data on BlockchainClaudio Di Ciccio
Presented at the CAiSE 2024 Forum, Intelligent Information Systems, June 6th, Limassol, Cyprus.
Synopsis: Cooperative information systems typically involve various entities in a collaborative process within a distributed environment. Blockchain technology offers a mechanism for automating such processes, even when only partial trust exists among participants. The data stored on the blockchain is replicated across all nodes in the network, ensuring accessibility to all participants. While this aspect facilitates traceability, integrity, and persistence, it poses challenges for adopting public blockchains in enterprise settings due to confidentiality issues. In this paper, we present a software tool named Control Access via Key Encryption (CAKE), designed to ensure data confidentiality in scenarios involving public blockchains. After outlining its core components and functionalities, we showcase the application of CAKE in the context of a real-world cyber-security project within the logistics domain.

The introduction of DLAU and the CCB & CCX licensing model caused quite a stir in the HCL community. As a Notes and Domino customer, you may have faced challenges with unexpected user counts and license costs. You probably have questions on how this new licensing approach works and how to benefit from it. Most importantly, you likely have budget constraints and want to save money where possible. Don’t worry, we can help with all of this!
We’ll show you how to fix common misconfigurations that cause higher-than-expected user counts, and how to identify accounts which you can deactivate to save money.
