Evolution vs. Creation Science
Adam Clayton Powell Jr. once stated, There is no future for a people who deny their past
(Applewhite, Evans, III, and Frothingham 474). This statement has rung true for the world for
centuries; the majority of individuals cannot fathom the concept of discovering how mankind came
to be through scientific nature. By denying this truth, the world will not be able to develop.
Evolutionis verifiable in comparison to creation science because of the theories, evidence, and the
increasing acceptance in today s society. In order to discuss the irrefutable nature of evolution, one
must be able to fully grasp the history of this groundbreaking knowledge. Evolution is often
described as a change that has occurred over an extended period of time.... Show more content on

One form of evidence is known as the fossil record; this is the documentation of one species that
has transitioned into another form. A prime example of the fossil record is the evolution of birds.
These flying creatures are often considered direct descendants of dinosaurs; Thomas Henry Huxley
constructed this notion in the 1860s. Evidence of this theory came about in 1861 when the first,
complete skeleton was discovered; the skeleton was of the Archaeopteryx lithographica. There was
no mistaking that Archaeopteryx lithographica was a dinosaur because of features it adorned,
including a bony tail, teeth, and claws on the wings. The troubling detail of this ancient creature
was a new feature that had been discovered: feathers. This ignited the on going search for
dinosaurian skeletons, providing clear evidence in support of Darwin s theory. In addition, direct
observation has provided an enormous amount of evidence to prove a major component of Darwin
s theory of evolution: natural selection. The first piece of evidence is the infamous peppered
moths. The peppered moths are also known as Biston betularia; they are commonly found in
Britain. The moths often fly during the night but they rest on trees during the day; this is a clever
way to camouflage themselves from predators. There are two very common types of these moths:
the typicall and carbonaria. The typicall can be described as a pale, speckled moth that is hidden

New York Giants Case Study
Josh Brown is a NFL kicker for the New York Giants who was recently suspended. The reasoning
behind his suspension were allegations on the grounds of domestic violence. Though the
charges were dropped due to lack of cooperation from Brown s wife and the local law
enforcement, Brown still had to sit out on the opening season game. Many fans of the Giants
were outraged by that ruling. That outrage would subside though since Brown will return for the
rest of the season. Although maybe not as a Giant for long, for another experienced kicker named
Randy Bullock will fill in for Brown. This could lead to a competitive next few games between the
two kickers. Either one could be the future kicker for the New York Giants. Only time and the

Weaknesses Of The Hague Rules
The Hague rules had many imperfections, which highlights its change to the later amended
1971 Hague Visby rules. One of the many weaknesses of the Hague rules was that in article X
The provisions of this Convention shall apply to all bills of lading issued in any of the
contracting States . According to Hasan ZB and Nazli I (2007). Shipment from ports not in the
contracting states to any port in contracting states. The Hague Rules do not apply but rather the
law of the country from where the goods were shipped would be the valid law. According to
Hasan ZB and Nazli I (2007), this creates loopholes where parties are able to contract out of the
Hague rules by selecting any law other than the law where the bill of lading is issued as the
governing law. Earlier common lawcases like the case Moorcock (1889) is helpful in this area of
contract law, as implied contract terms if breached can have locus standi in courts and individuals
should be aware of them within a contract. This highlights how the Hague rules do not add much
to earlier common law provisions. An additional common law case would be Liver alkali v Jonson
(1874), which gives the carrier complete liability giving far better protection to cargo owners.
An additional fault with The Hague rules is that the Maximum Limit of a carrier s liability was
set to low. The limitation of carrier s liability is stated in Article IV Rule 5. Neither the carrier nor
the ship shall in any event be or become liable for any loss or

African Countries And Africa s Modern Day Lingual Issues
Africa is the most fascinating continent on our planet due to the thousands of cultures that are able
to thrive there. Africa is the most lingual diverse continent in the world with over three thousand
languages spoken there. The most common languages spoken in Africa are English, French, and
Portuguese, however most African countries are composed of tribes, each with their own dialect of
language. The issue lies in the fact that most of these languages are not mutually intelligible.
Therefore, having thousands of languages has contributed to the downfall and stunted economic
growth of many African countries such as Nigeria and Tanzania. Having hundreds of languages in a
country composed of tribes can cause multiple issues and can... Show more content on

European colonization is the main cause for the numerous amount of languages in the continent of
Africa. After the industrial revolution, Europe was searching for money, therefore they colonized
in order to enrich themselves. Ethiopia and Libya were the only countries in Africa to resist the
Europeans and prevent their country from being taken over. Otherwise, all the other countries
were colonized. The Europeans sharing the same land brought about a whole new set of
problems. The Europeans put their own cultural practices into use in Africa which included their
languages. The native Africans began to pick up these languages and localizing them. This was
the beginning of the linguistic melting pot that we see today in many African countries. As a
result of European colonization, we saw many languages emerge out of Africa. As time has
progressed, we have failed to see any extinction of these languages of which highly contributes to
Africa s modern day linguistic issues. Nigeria supports over 500 languages inside its borders,
however English has been the official language since independence from Britain. Now nearly 60
years later, Nigerians are proposing the idea of changing the official language to an indigenous
language for multiple reasons. Nigerians believe that an indigenous language is the key to resolving
problems concerning national unity

Book Of Eli Essay
The movie The Book of Eli follows a mysterious protagonist, Eli (Denzel Washington), on a
journey set during an unknown time on an apocalyptic Earth. The story follows Eli on his a
given quest to travel West to deliver a book which is only later revealed to be the last copy of
The Bible. During the film, he is joined (to his dismay) by a lady named Solaria (Mila Kunis).
Eli meets Solaria in a shanty town/camp where the leader Carnegie (Gary Oldman) wants The
Bible to use its rhetoric to convince people to follow him, to rule as a tyrant. The film is a story
about Eli trying to protect the book, and seemingly failing due to the connection he eventually
forms with Solaria. The ending reveals that Eli memorized the book and conveys his recording...

As Greg Smith points out, Filmmakers work hard to exclude the random from their fictional
worlds. the set design, story, and genre in The Book of Eli were all very deliberately decided to
give the viewer a sense of escapism while still analyzing society. The movie very much follows the
mold for action movies, but where the film differs is where it shines. The film establishes religion as
the moral marker for viewers; we are meant to align and relate with Denzel s character sense of
justification and righteousness while portraying Oldman s character as The Bad The Villain for
wanting the same, but for selfish reasons. The film is very much a reflection of American
Christian ideology and the societies current fears and hopes. North American culture tends to be
very aligned with religion and one of society s greatest fears are religious leaders manipulating
society in the hope of self fulfilment. We also fear war, and destruction the idea of something
being entirely lost, and no longer having a legacy. The Book of Eli is a very fine example of
using this fear as a story arc for human analysis the audience is able to project onto the main
protagonist with an nuanced stylistic approach for a different way of storytelling and creating

Technology Management Functions
Technology and Management Functions
Introduction
Information technology is transforming how business and government enterprises operate and, as
a result, how people work. Information is the critical raw material for decision making and the
foundation for producing products and providing services. People create information; people use
information; people control information. The growing economic importance of information in
modern society led sociologists such as Alvin Toffler and John Naisbitt to characterize our society
as the Information Age. In fact, more than half of today s workforce is employed in information
related jobs, compared to less than 20 percent 30 years ago. Most of those people spend a

Stereotypes Of A Manly Person
I grew up as a pretty reserved person in the suburbs of Pittsburgh. I knew what happened outside
of my home, but I was not exposed to it on the daily, or even yearly, basis. Growing up, I saw
fights on TV, in movies, and heard about them from my friends. I never really irritate people,
except close friends, so no one cares to fight me. Also, I would probably lose. My friends always
tell me how annoying I am. Luke is annoying, a friend said. In my seventeen years of life, I have
only had a few physical fights, and they have all been between a few individuals. One fine
evening at a friends house we were hanging out and everything was well. It was about 1:00 a.m.
and a certain individual who attends Central (we will call him Arthur) had fallen asleep. The rest
of us were in one room playing a video game while Arthur was laying on the floor of a different
room. Another friend of mine (we will call him Joe) thought it would be funny to... Show more

Through television and media, we see a scale from weak to manly man. Although everyone is
told to be okay with who they are, I can guarantee a majority would choose to be a manly man.
That is who the girls are impressed by, and that is who most would like to be. However, those are
all physical characteristics, which is only a percentage of being a man. A large portion of a man
should be defined by his mentality and his actions. My best opinion of a man can only be
defined by another Spongebob reference. In the Spongebob movie, Spongebob and Patrick take
on a deathly journey for two reasons: to save Bikini Bottom, and to prove that they are men.
These two animated characters perfectly describe the mentality of a man who is not afraid to
stand up for what he believes in. By standing up for what they believe in, I mean risking their
lives. I do not mean standing outside a political rally holding a sign fighting for safe

People Are Really Good At Heart Analysis
Anne Frank said in her diary that in spite of everything,I still believed that people are really good

police since they are Jewish. No One knows why she still thinks that people are good at heart. My
three main points are optimistic/hopeful,thoughtful/help others, and imaginative. Those are the
main points that would support the quote that she say. The first support point is optimistic
/hopeful. This is not the end It is not even the beginning of the end. Is the quote that she said in
her diary during that time. When they about to sent Margot to work so they didn t give up and
hid from the solders. She keep on hoping that the war will be over and they don t have to hide

president for Hanukkah that she made from what she got around the house or found in the house.
She shears every one up by singing to then and to get them to sing too for Hanukkah. The third
support point that I pick is imaginative. I want to bring out all kind off things that lied buried deep
in my heart. She said this quote when she wrote in her diary every time so one knows what she is
thinking about and just let it out. When she write down everything that is happening during the
time when she went into hiding until they were found. When she talking about having a secret of

critical examination by James McBride in his essay Hip Hop Planet. McBride provides the reader
with direct insight into the influence that hip hop music has played in his life, as well as the lives

families that plague this country, McBride explains that hip hop music has a place for everyone.

In his short overview of the origination of the Sugar Hill Gang in the mid 1970 s, the author
makes it apparent the hip hop grew out of necessity due to lack of funding in the art programs in
New York City school system. This neoclassical movement of the mid 1970 s grew like a
wildflower that sprouts through the cracks of a modern day concrete jungle. One of the more
interesting implications that are presented in the later parts of this essay is the economic
ramifications of the hip hop culture. McBride paints the picture of a lower income Caucasian
American teenager in Dayton, Ohio who finds truth in the story of hip hop. McBride notes:
Henry is a model American teenager and the prototypical consumer at which the hip hop
industry is squarely aimed, which has his parents sitting up in their seats. The music that was
once the purview of black America has gone white and gone commercial all at once. A sea of
white faces now rises up to greet rap groups as they perform, many of the teenagers like Henry, a
NASCAR fanatic and self described redneck (468) The connection that is drawn between the
formerly economically challenged rapper and the child whose parent works two jobs, and can t
pay his child s college tuition is paramount in making this point. The illusion of the American
dream is set through many hip hop songs. The picture of the evolution of the rags to riches story is
set by many rappers in current hip hop culture, this picture is the basic premise

songs for the Beatles was Paul McCartney (6/18/42 present). George Harrison (2/25/43 present)

In 1962, Ringo Starr (7/7/40 present) became the drummer for the band. They were now known as
The Beatles, (the Fab Four).
Their first song Love Me Do was recorded in 1962, after Ringo joined the band. In 1964, the
Beatles invaded the United States, by bringing their music here and driving the crowds wild. The
Beatles bridged the generation gap and language barriers. They were trend setters, with their style of
dress and hair changing the face of the young people. They also influenced the use of
hallucinogenic drugs, Indian music, and Eastern mysticism.
The Beatles last concert was in San Francisco in 1966. The band broke up in 1970. Lennon went
on to record solo albums and with his wife, Yoko Ono.
McCartney went on to form Paul McCartney and Wings, with his wife, Linda.
Harrison and Starr also went on to do solo albums. Ringo also starred in some films. Rumors of a
reunion were believed until the murder of John Lennon in
1980.
Some of the groups influenced by the Beatles were The Who, Cream with
Eric Clapton, and Chicago Blues. They brought out sounds such as loud music,

Cave Allegory
Biographical information: Plato was one of the earliest ancient Greek philosophers who lived from
427 to 347 B.C. He was a student of Socrates, who was also a prominent Greek philosopher at that
time. Socrates had a massive influence on Plato, who called him the most upright man of that day
(The Seventh Letter). Platoadopted his philosophyand dedicated his studies to formation of a noble
character. Born in Athens to a family of aristocrats, Plato attained an exceptional education, most
likely taught by notable educators such as Pythagoras and Parmenides. With the help of these
scholars, Plato began the basis on which he developed a foundation for the study of epistemology

In the cave allegory, a man is bound in a cave, which represents misunderstanding, and facing a
wall his entire life with a fire burning behind him. From this fire, he sees shadows and hears
people passing by, so he believes people are two dimensional beings, this is known as perception.
This shows that knowledge gained through the senses is based on opinion. Only the
enlightened ones will break free from the restraints and turn around to see what the shadows
really are. These people are called philosopher kings. Based on this allegory, these men are not
evil, but rather ignorant. They may not perceive racism as immoral based on several factors
such as how and where they were raised and their experiences, but through philosophical
reasoning it can be determined that what they were doing is wrong. Plato believed in civil
disobedience, which is disobeying the law on moral grounds. Carl Lee Hailey took the law into
his own hands because he knew of a previous case similar to his where justice was not served.
Plato would see this as moral because the outcome would not have been just. In addition, the men
in the KKK would use religion as an excuse to carry out unjust

Introduction
The business environment that is significantly influence by the process of globalization determines
companies to develop different types of strategies that allow them to create competitive advantage.
Some of them focus on reducing the prices of their products. This objective is usually reached by
addressing the outsourcing strategy of some of their processes. This helps them reduce production
costs, which leads to reduced prices of these companies products and services. This allows
companies that use outsourcing to increase their market share.
Other companies prefer to focus on strategies based on differentiation in order to create competitive
advantage. In such cases, companies study their competitors and determine what types

Anyway, it was the Saturday of the football game. I remember around three o clock that
afternoon I was standing way the hell up on top of Thomsen Hill. You could see the whole field
from there, and you could see the two teams bashing each other all over the place. You could

First, I think the Rye Field is a major symbol in this novel because pg 173, Holden told Phoebe
about what he is picturing and Holden said I m standing on the edge of some crazy cliff. What I
have to do, I have to catch everybody if they start to go over the cliff I mean if they re running
and they don t look where they re going I have to come out from somewhere and catch them.
That s all I d do all day. I d just be the catcher in the rye and all. The quote is saying that Holden
doesn t want himself and everyone who entered the adulthood so he is catching everyone who
wants to act like an adult but Holden won t let them act like an adults. I think that Holden is a
little brat. He wants to act like he is a little kid and doesn t want to grow up as an adult. He thinks
that he isn t responsible enough to be treated as an adult because Holden deals with alcohol, sex,
and violence. I think maybe that s the reason he isn t responsible enough to take care of himself.

Power Of Power And Power Control
According to Joseph (2011), power is ability to affect others to achieve outcomes, which power
holder want. Some people can use power to influence others actions and behaviors without holding
any high position of authority. By contrast, a number of people in genuine positions are powerless
to get desired outcomes by affecting other people. There are some factors which can develop in the
course of time such as leadershipskill and power control, however, to become an effective leader,
he or she has to distinguish various power forms and select her or him own leadership style and
characteristic as well as organize unique working environment (Goncalves, 2013). In order to
explore how a person operates power and influence in a daily life as well as how an effective
leader is, the writer had an interview with a teacher, Cynthia Morgan, in one of the states in the
United States. Through the interview, Cynthia shared honestly about her daily tasks while
working as a teacher in school and her points of view about wielding power and abiding by
others power. Firstly, Cynthia is a teacher as well as the head of the Science department in a

unit, want a union at all (Cox, Bok, Gorman, Finkin, 2012). Here, we will discuss the history of and
changes to the manner in which employee votes have been counted to determine an outcome in
these elections.
1. Prior to the National Mediation Board s (NMB) 2010 rule change, what was the primary
difference between how the election results were counted under the NLRA and the Railway
Labor Act (RLA)? For approximately seventy five years the only option an employee had to
submit a vote against union representation was to not vote at all. Under the Railway Labor Act, it
specifically identifies that employees shall have the right to determine who shall be representative
of the craft or class 45 U.S.C $ 152 but does not define that a specific no union choice was
available. This was further exemplified by the National Mediation Board who recognized non
voters as representing a no vote and/or being against union representation. Under this pretense and

In 1979, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomenei overthrew the Western backed Shah and established a

Venetian Army. In this particular play Shakespeare placed several different themes throughout the
play but two of the main themes were Love and Race. Othello is strong, confident man he is the

that finally broke the camel s back is when Othello eloped with the beautiful Desdemona daughter
of Venetian senator Brabantio. She disappoints her father by having wed the moor Othello and he
disowns her for having done such a deed. Brabantio even said to Othello that Desdemona would
betray him just like she betrayed her father.
In fact, being that Othello was from a foreign land and he was dark skinned this angered Iago
even more to the point that he concocted an elaborate story to break up Desdemona and Othello.
Iago manipulated Othello into believing that his sweet, loving was an adulteress and has lain with
none other than Michael Cassio. Othello has great love for Desdemona so when he hears this
news he becomes enraged. Through all the adversity he has faced for marrying Desdemona, he was

The memoir, The Woman Warrior, by Maxine Hong Kingston, is about Maxine s childhood in
America after her mother moved to America from China. The author, Maxine Hong Kingston, talks
about Brave Orchid, Maxine s mother, to show that extrinsic factors influenced Maxine s ability to
become a woman warrior. The first extrinsic factor that is significant is American and Chinese
culture. This impacts Maxine Hong Kingstons ability to be a warrior because the cultures are very

It is a time when matchmakers were popular and local trades flourished. Matchmaking is a
distinctive part of the cultural context; Thomasheen is actually a matchmaker by trade. This was
a traditional aspect of rural Ireland. The majority of the characters in the play see it as a young girl

seen in Sive we see Sive s aunt and for all purposes mother driven to fulfil the match between Sive

In contrast the world of 32A was never much determined by social class as was prominent in

the society and culture of middle class Ireland. Dublin s North side where most of the action takes

Searle s Robot
Searle presents an incredible argument to be sure, especially with the Chinese Room thought
experiment. In the end, I would have to concede to it, if I was trapped in a room with only the
barrels of symbols and the rulebooks, I would not know the meaning of the Chinese symbols from
simply arranging responses from these symbols. However; that does not mean that the argument is
perfect. The premise that semantics cannot be derived from syntax alone can be challenged with an
extension to the Chinese Room experiment. Let us assume that we put a digital computer into a
robot, which has visual cameras, touch, taste, and smell sensors, and microphones to gain external
data from the outside world, which would go into the computer as additional syntactical data. Let us
also assume that the robot looks and acts like the average human, and also that each and every
action that the robot takes is taken in the same way as the Chinese Room experiment, as syntactical
data turning into new syntactical data due to the implementation of programs. Therefore, in the

inventory. Their facilities are fully automated. For example Al Madina Lights located in Lahore
has a fully automated MS database system to manage the shop. The automatic system ensures
customer satisfaction, since they are given information quickly and the customer processing time
is reduced. We conducted a market analysis of the problems faced by Butt Light customers when
they enter the shop for a purchase. Two main problems are as follows: * Waiting time: the
customers have to wait few minutes when they place an order, before they are told whether the
products are available in the warehouse. If the products are not available, the customer feels a little
irritated to have made to wait with no fruit. * The customer has to give his information every time

Intellectual Disabilities
Intellectual disability is becoming more common in today s society. According to the literature,
Down syndrome (DS) is the leading cause, with an incidence rate of 1 in every 700 live births.
5,500 newborns are affected each year in the United States (Abbeduto, Warren, Conners, 2007;
Roberts, Price, Malkin, 2007). The most common etiology of DS is Trisomy 21, which accounts
for 98% of cases. Trisomy 21 is where the individual is born with an extra copy of chromosome21
(Roberts, Price, Malkin, 2007, p.26). Another cause of DS is known as Translocation.
Translocation occurs when part of chromosome 21 attaches to another chromosome. The least
common cause is Mosaicism, which is the result of a nondisjunction of chromosome 21 that places
an extra copy of the chromosome in some, but not all, cells (Roberts, Price, Malkin, 2007, p.26).
Therefore, DS is associated in multiple organ systems and a characteristic phenotype that includes

Gestures are actions produced with the intent to communicate and are typically expressed using

Food Stamps Essay
Food stamps are an important component of low income families monthly resources, increasing
the chances that families are able to meet basic needs (Ratcliffe, McKernan Finegold, 2008). This
form of food relief dates back to the Great Depression when many Americans lost their jobs and
did not have money to feed their families. People were starving while farmers produced abundant
crop that could not be sold due to a lack of consumers with buying power (Dorsch, 2013). The
Federal Surplus Relief Corporation which was a part of the Agricultural Adjustment Act, bought
basic farm goods at low prices and distributed the among hunger relief agencies in different states

This was a great addition to the Food Stamp Act because it helped to better serve those in need.

Schindler s List Comparison
The feature film Schindler s List was the movie adaptation of the novel, Schindler s Ark by
Thomas Keneally. It was said that the story was told to the author by the Pfefferberg family,

during the cleansing of the ghetto. He was atop the hill looking down on all that lay beneath.
The gun shots, the shouts and cries echoed for all to hear. And out of the darkness he saw a
young girl in a red coat. This was the only color in the entire film. It was his pivotal moment. That

with that first winter in Morristown, Hamilton was drawn almost magnetically to... Angelica,
and spent the rest of his life beguiled by both Eliza and Angelica, calling them my dear brunettes.
... The attraction between Hamilton and Angelica was so potent and obvious that many people
assumed they were lovers. At the very least, theirs was a friendship of unusual ardor, and it
seems plausible that Hamilton would have proposed to Angelica, not Eliza, if the older sister
had been eligible. After a few more lyrics, it becomes clear that Angelica has fallen madly in love
with Hamilton at this point. This can be seen in the line Handsome, boy, does he know it! Peach
fuzz, and he can t even grow it! I wanna take him far away from this place... However, Eliza has
also fallen in love with Hamilton at this point as well, as seen when she repeats the word helpless.
In the end, Angelica ends up pushing her own feelings aside and allows her sister to be with

The ideas of cloning and regeneration of loblolly pines discussed by Li and Gupta are effective

be constantly regenerating clones and cloning loblolly pines. The process also has negative effects
on our environment and our health. Loblolly pines can also only be cloned or regenerated in small
numbers and it s not enough to compensate for the number of dying trees. Due to these reasons, the
idea of cloning and regeneration of loblolly pines is not practical and is not enough to compensate
for the mass number of dying trees.
However, Mountain Pine Beetles are extremely destructive and devasting to forests. Even though
there is no direct correlation between Mountain Pine Beetles and forest fires, they are still

first and the third line of the targets recur alternately at the end of other targets, and they are

There can raise various questions on why the author came up with a conclusion of using a leaf
to speak in the poem. It can be because the leaf is a universal thing, simple and observes many
things that happen in life. The poem is about intelligence at the self level, and the author has
used various mediums to bring out a message in each stanza differently (Gale page 12). To start

The Rise And Development Of Ancient Persia
Ancient Persia also known as the Achaemenid Empire is known to be one of the greatest empires
in ancient history. It was viewed as the first humane, equal and religiously tolerant empire. It was
made up of several different languages, races, religions and cultures. The empire would become
large enough to stretch through three continents. The rise and development of Persia revolved
around the rule of Cyrus the Greatand Darius the Great. Cyrus was a military and political genius
that would go on to rule the largest empire in the ancient world. Ancient Persia began to rise in
550 BC when Cyrus the Great defeated Medes and the Median Empire and united the Medes and

then on, the Persian army, under the rule of Cyrus the Great and his successors, started many
wars and became one of the largest and most powerful ancient empires. His first successor would
be his son Cambyses II who would rule for a short time. Under his rule the Persian empire soon
became powerful enough to easily take over Egypt and Mesopotamia which is why they have
some things in common. The beginning of the the rise of this great empire starts in 539 BC

the violence that is necessary during wartime, soldiers are permitted to engage in savage behavior
that is normally forbidden in society. In The Wars by Timothy Findley, however, soldiers act in
violent ways even when they are not actively engaged in battle. The inherently savage nature of

Despite the fact that the German has let the rest of the soldiers escape unharmed, Robert s innate
violence triggers the death of an innocent soldier. Thus, Robert s actions reveal the inherent savage
nature of humankind. Not only does Robert s killing of the German soldier expose humanity s
inherent savagery, but his fellow soldiers brutal rape of Robert also shows the brutal nature of
humankind. After his shower, Robert senses a human presence in his cell and he was spun around
in the dark so many times he lost all sense of gravity.
Then he was lowered onto his back and held there by someone who was lying underneath him.

Death With Dignity Act Case Study
First, Connecticut pro choice supporters attempted to legalize the Death with Dignity Act three
times since 2013, as they believe competent, terminally ill individuals in Connecticut should have
the legal right to choose medically assisted death. Unfortunately, this legislation has not come to a
vote in Connecticut; however, each time more people are supportive of the bill. The last
Quinnipiac University Poll, completed in March 2015, has shown that by more than a 2 1 margin
(63% vs. 31%), Connecticut voters support allowing doctors to legally prescribe lethal drugs to
help terminally ill patients end their lives (C C, Oregon, 2016). The Deathwith Dignity Act
originated in Oregon, in 1997 with enough support to be the first state to pass the new law.
Washington passed a similar law eleven years later, in 2008. Additionally, Colorado has been the
most recent state to have this law passed on November 8, 2016. All the states have modeled after
Oregon s Death with Dignity Act. Specifically, the law states that the person must be terminally ill
with less than six months to live, also be at least eighteen... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Specifically, Washington, DC has recently approved the legislation, and it is taking the bill to
Congress in December 2016. Presently, the United States has five states that approved the law
for the assistance of medical aid in dying. As recently as November 15, 2016, The Times paper
announced: The D.C. Council overwhelmingly approved a Death with Dignity bill Tuesday that
allows terminally ill patients the ability to obtain medication to end their lives (Sanburn, 2016).
With two states legalizing the Death with Dignity Act, within a year, grassroots supporters,
increase media and spokespeople such as Brittney Maynard more people will consider voting for
the pro choice choice in death bill to make a personal decision with the support of their family,
medical providers, and

Gerald Graff Hidden Intellectualism Analysis
Many times a student will be generalized into a category of book smart or street smart. A teacher
or person of higher authority can overlook a pupil s potential intellect due to their grades not
being the most attractive in a main course subject. Gerald Graff expands to his audience on
different areas of the world such as sports intriguing him and bringing out his book smart side. In
Gerald Graffs Hidden Intellectualism, Graff argues that all too often students are not given enough
variety of topics to demonstrate their potentially brilliant mind. Due to teachers solely focusing on
the print of the textbook it has become the norm to brush off students who may not excel in those
areas, therefore, not try to explore where their actual skillful side can arise. Throughout Graff s
passage he exclaims a concern for where educationis heading and the possibility of losing an
immense amount of students in the classroom due to a boxed in area they are limited to explore.
A different approach brought up by Graff is shifting focus onto the students interest and less upon
what teachers assume will help them grow. Where Graff grew up the hoods often viewed book
smart as lesser to street smart, Graff wanted to obtain both smarts. As a child, Graff started to
realize he possessed a hidden intellect when he could discuss and debate the subject of sports. For
Graff, his main interest was on sports, more specifically, baseball. Baseball taught the importance of
teamwork. You could not

The Punk Subculture And The Hippie Counter Culture
Subculture is just a smaller culture within a much broader and mainstream or dominant culture
and is used to study cultures. It basically explains how some groups behave towards society or
other subgroups. The punk subculture is a counter culture and has a sundry selection of
ideologies, music, and fashion. In the late 1960s is roughly when punks came about. They are
more centered on their style of music called punk rock which is a more aggressive and fast paced
style of rock and roll. This music is a response to the hippie counter cultureand some bands were
more heavily influenced than others. By the late 1970s is when the punk subculturebegan to expand
and increased the number of groups within the punk subculture like post punk, pop... Show more

Punk rock is also played by small bands. It was sometimes played by a solo artist but not usually.
In a punk rock band there is one vocalist who does most of or all the singing, two electric
guitarists, an electric bassist, and one drummer. When the musicians of the band do lend
backup vocals, they are main just shouting slogans or choruses. When the punk subculture first
came about, most of its members were in the lower economic class. They had become tired and
jealous of the wealth of those who dedicated themselves to popular rock during these times.
What they did to combat this was publish their own music or sign with small independent labels,
in hopes to receive some wealth as well in what they saw as a money hungry music industry. Due
to the use of drugs, immoral sex, and deep and sometimes violent power struggles, most early
punk rock bands were short lived. Though these punk rock bands were short lived, their
respective popularity evolved punk rock into a lifestyle and a movement. From the view of an
average spectator, the dress code of a punk might look dirty and disorganized with no thought put
into it, but this poor and torn clothing is carefully put together and arranged. The idea of what
some people call insulting or indecent is the reason why punks wear this type of clothing. They
want to look offensive and dirty to the normal eye. Their clothing was modified with everyday
objects to have that aesthetic look and style that everyone else would hate.

The House Of Mirth By Edith Wharton Essay
The House of Mirth, written by Edith Wharton, depicts the social system and how it functioned
during the late 1800 s and early 1900 s. Through looking at the social rise and fall of Lily Bart,
the protagonist, one can see how education, gender, and social status determine value and
success. By the evident contrast between upper class and lower class values in the novel, the
theme of performance is illuminated. Each character in the novel is performing Lily, especially
and does so as a way of socially furthering themselves. This is due to the fact that in the novel,
social status determines value; value increases as social status increases. This idea of
performance correlating with social status and personal value aligns with Louis Althusser s
thesis regarding ideology: ideology is determined before birth and is performed. Ideology forms as
soon as one is addressed and responds; Lily responds yes to each person who addresses her, but
each address puts her in a different performance, causing her to be a reciprocal of these
ideologies. Lily faces an internal conflict of which ideology she belongs to: was she pre
determined with an upper class ideology, or lower class ideology? Is she the person who is
addressed by Percy Gryce, or Nettie Struther? This ideological struggle is conveyed most clearly
when she interacts with Lawrence Selden, who challenges her values and beliefs. Two versions of
Lily exist within the novel that perform and speak to each ideology. In Ideology

  • 2. Evolution vs. Creation Science Adam Clayton Powell Jr. once stated, There is no future for a people who deny their past (Applewhite, Evans, III, and Frothingham 474). This statement has rung true for the world for centuries; the majority of individuals cannot fathom the concept of discovering how mankind came to be through scientific nature. By denying this truth, the world will not be able to develop. Evolutionis verifiable in comparison to creation science because of the theories, evidence, and the increasing acceptance in today s society. In order to discuss the irrefutable nature of evolution, one must be able to fully grasp the history of this groundbreaking knowledge. Evolution is often described as a change that has occurred over an extended period of time.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One form of evidence is known as the fossil record; this is the documentation of one species that has transitioned into another form. A prime example of the fossil record is the evolution of birds. These flying creatures are often considered direct descendants of dinosaurs; Thomas Henry Huxley constructed this notion in the 1860s. Evidence of this theory came about in 1861 when the first, complete skeleton was discovered; the skeleton was of the Archaeopteryx lithographica. There was no mistaking that Archaeopteryx lithographica was a dinosaur because of features it adorned, including a bony tail, teeth, and claws on the wings. The troubling detail of this ancient creature was a new feature that had been discovered: feathers. This ignited the on going search for dinosaurian skeletons, providing clear evidence in support of Darwin s theory. In addition, direct observation has provided an enormous amount of evidence to prove a major component of Darwin s theory of evolution: natural selection. The first piece of evidence is the infamous peppered moths. The peppered moths are also known as Biston betularia; they are commonly found in Britain. The moths often fly during the night but they rest on trees during the day; this is a clever way to camouflage themselves from predators. There are two very common types of these moths: the typicall and carbonaria. The typicall can be described as a pale, speckled moth that is hidden ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The reasoning behind his suspension were allegations on the grounds of domestic violence. Though the charges were dropped due to lack of cooperation from Brown s wife and the local law enforcement, Brown still had to sit out on the opening season game. Many fans of the Giants were outraged by that ruling. That outrage would subside though since Brown will return for the rest of the season. Although maybe not as a Giant for long, for another experienced kicker named Randy Bullock will fill in for Brown. This could lead to a competitive next few games between the two kickers. • 4. Weaknesses Of The Hague Rules The Hague rules had many imperfections, which highlights its change to the later amended 1971 Hague Visby rules. One of the many weaknesses of the Hague rules was that in article X The provisions of this Convention shall apply to all bills of lading issued in any of the contracting States . According to Hasan ZB and Nazli I (2007). Shipment from ports not in the contracting states to any port in contracting states. The Hague Rules do not apply but rather the law of the country from where the goods were shipped would be the valid law. According to Hasan ZB and Nazli I (2007), this creates loopholes where parties are able to contract out of the Hague rules by selecting any law other than the law where the bill of lading is issued as the governing law. Earlier common lawcases like the case Moorcock (1889) is helpful in this area of contract law, as implied contract terms if breached can have locus standi in courts and individuals should be aware of them within a contract. This highlights how the Hague rules do not add much to earlier common law provisions. An additional common law case would be Liver alkali v Jonson (1874), which gives the carrier complete liability giving far better protection to cargo owners. An additional fault with The Hague rules is that the Maximum Limit of a carrier s liability was set to low. The limitation of carrier s liability is stated in Article IV Rule 5. Neither the carrier nor the ship shall in any event be or become liable for any loss or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Africa is the most lingual diverse continent in the world with over three thousand languages spoken there. The most common languages spoken in Africa are English, French, and Portuguese, however most African countries are composed of tribes, each with their own dialect of language. The issue lies in the fact that most of these languages are not mutually intelligible. Therefore, having thousands of languages has contributed to the downfall and stunted economic growth of many African countries such as Nigeria and Tanzania. European colonization is the main cause for the numerous amount of languages in the continent of Africa. After the industrial revolution, Europe was searching for money, therefore they colonized in order to enrich themselves. Ethiopia and Libya were the only countries in Africa to resist the Europeans and prevent their country from being taken over. Otherwise, all the other countries were colonized. The Europeans sharing the same land brought about a whole new set of problems. The Europeans put their own cultural practices into use in Africa which included their languages. The native Africans began to pick up these languages and localizing them. This was the beginning of the linguistic melting pot that we see today in many African countries. As a result of European colonization, we saw many languages emerge out of Africa. As time has progressed, we have failed to see any extinction of these languages of which highly contributes to Africa s modern day linguistic issues. Nigeria supports over 500 languages inside its borders, however English has been the official language since independence from Britain. As Greg Smith points out, Filmmakers work hard to exclude the random from their fictional worlds. the set design, story, and genre in The Book of Eli were all very deliberately decided to give the viewer a sense of escapism while still analyzing society. The movie very much follows the mold for action movies, but where the film differs is where it shines. The film establishes religion as the moral marker for viewers; we are meant to align and relate with Denzel s character sense of justification and righteousness while portraying Oldman s character as The Bad The Villain for wanting the same, but for selfish reasons. The film is very much a reflection of American Christian ideology and the societies current fears and hopes. North American culture tends to be very aligned with religion and one of society s greatest fears are religious leaders manipulating society in the hope of self fulfilment. We also fear war, and destruction the idea of something being entirely lost, and no longer having a legacy. The Book of Eli is a very fine example of using this fear as a story arc for human analysis the audience is able to project onto the main protagonist with an nuanced stylistic approach for a different way of storytelling and creating ... • 10. Stereotypes Of A Manly Person I grew up as a pretty reserved person in the suburbs of Pittsburgh. I knew what happened outside of my home, but I was not exposed to it on the daily, or even yearly, basis. Growing up, I saw fights on TV, in movies, and heard about them from my friends. I never really irritate people, except close friends, so no one cares to fight me. Also, I would probably lose. My friends always tell me how annoying I am. Luke is annoying, a friend said. In my seventeen years of life, I have only had a few physical fights, and they have all been between a few individuals. One fine evening at a friends house we were hanging out and everything was well. It was about 1:00 a.m. and a certain individual who attends Central (we will call him Arthur) had fallen asleep. My best opinion of a man can only be defined by another Spongebob reference. In the Spongebob movie, Spongebob and Patrick take on a deathly journey for two reasons: to save Bikini Bottom, and to prove that they are men. This neoclassical movement of the mid 1970 s grew like a wildflower that sprouts through the cracks of a modern day concrete jungle. One of the more interesting implications that are presented in the later parts of this essay is the economic ramifications of the hip hop culture. McBride paints the picture of a lower income Caucasian American teenager in Dayton, Ohio who finds truth in the story of hip hop. McBride notes: Henry is a model American teenager and the prototypical consumer at which the hip hop industry is squarely aimed, which has his parents sitting up in their seats. The music that was once the purview of black America has gone white and gone commercial all at once. A sea of white faces now rises up to greet rap groups as they perform, many of the teenagers like Henry, a NASCAR fanatic and self described redneck (468) The connection that is drawn between the formerly economically challenged rapper and the child whose parent works two jobs, and can t pay his child s college tuition is paramount in making this point. • 21. A Brief Note On The National Mediation Board Employees generally seek union representation because they feel their workplace rights from their employer is not being met, or that they have an unfair disadvantage in regards to any needs or workplace desires. They turn to unions to help bridge the gap and ease the power differential that exists between employers and their employees. In order for a group of employees to obtain representation, they must undergo an electionprocess to choose their union or decide if they, as a unit, want a union at all (Cox, Bok, Gorman, Finkin, 2012). Here, we will discuss the history of and changes to the manner in which employee votes have been counted to determine an outcome in these elections. 1. Prior to the National Mediation Board s (NMB) 2010 rule change, what was the primary difference between how the election results were counted under the NLRA and the Railway Labor Act (RLA)? For approximately seventy five years the only option an employee had to submit a vote against union representation was to not vote at all. Under the Railway Labor Act, it specifically identifies that employees shall have the right to determine who shall be representative of the craft or class 45 U.S.C $ 152 but does not define that a specific no union choice was available. • 42. Gerald Graff Hidden Intellectualism Analysis Many times a student will be generalized into a category of book smart or street smart. A teacher or person of higher authority can overlook a pupil s potential intellect due to their grades not being the most attractive in a main course subject. Gerald Graff expands to his audience on different areas of the world such as sports intriguing him and bringing out his book smart side. In Gerald Graffs Hidden Intellectualism, Graff argues that all too often students are not given enough variety of topics to demonstrate their potentially brilliant mind. Due to teachers solely focusing on the print of the textbook it has become the norm to brush off students who may not excel in those areas, therefore, not try to explore where their actual skillful side can arise. Throughout Graff s passage he exclaims a concern for where educationis heading and the possibility of losing an immense amount of students in the classroom due to a boxed in area they are limited to explore. A different approach brought up by Graff is shifting focus onto the students interest and less upon what teachers assume will help them grow. Where Graff grew up the hoods often viewed book smart as lesser to street smart, Graff wanted to obtain both smarts. As a child, Graff started to realize he possessed a hidden intellect when he could discuss and debate the subject of sports. For Graff, his main interest was on sports, more specifically, baseball. Punk rock is also played by small bands. It was sometimes played by a solo artist but not usually. In a punk rock band there is one vocalist who does most of or all the singing, two electric guitarists, an electric bassist, and one drummer. When the musicians of the band do lend backup vocals, they are main just shouting slogans or choruses. When the punk subculture first came about, most of its members were in the lower economic class. They had become tired and jealous of the wealth of those who dedicated themselves to popular rock during these times. What they did to combat this was publish their own music or sign with small independent labels, in hopes to receive some wealth as well in what they saw as a money hungry music industry. Due to the use of drugs, immoral sex, and deep and sometimes violent power struggles, most early punk rock bands were short lived. Though these punk rock bands were short lived, their respective popularity evolved punk rock into a lifestyle and a movement. From the view of an average spectator, the dress code of a punk might look dirty and disorganized with no thought put into it, but this poor and torn clothing is carefully put together and arranged. Their clothing was modified with everyday objects to have that aesthetic look and style that everyone else would hate. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The House Of Mirth By Edith Wharton Essay The House of Mirth, written by Edith Wharton, depicts the social system and how it functioned during the late 1800 s and early 1900 s. Through looking at the social rise and fall of Lily Bart, the protagonist, one can see how education, gender, and social status determine value and success. By the evident contrast between upper class and lower class values in the novel, the theme of performance is illuminated. Each character in the novel is performing Lily, especially and does so as a way of socially furthering themselves. This is due to the fact that in the novel, social status determines value; value increases as social status increases. This idea of performance correlating with social status and personal value aligns with Louis Althusser s thesis regarding ideology: ideology is determined before birth and is performed. Ideology forms as soon as one is addressed and responds; Lily responds yes to each person who addresses her, but each address puts her in a different performance, causing her to be a reciprocal of these ideologies. Lily faces an internal conflict of which ideology she belongs to: was she pre determined with an upper class ideology, or lower class ideology? Is she the person who is addressed by Percy Gryce, or Nettie Struther? This ideological struggle is conveyed most clearly when she interacts with Lawrence Selden, who challenges her values and beliefs. Two versions of Lily exist within the novel that perform and speak to each ideology. In Ideology ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
