Close Quarter Battle - A (Thankfully) Changing ParadigmCQB TEAM
Ever thought all those courses you took in Close Quarter Battle just got you hurt? They didn't quite make sense? Buttonhook and hope? Here's a better way.
By Rye from CQB-TEAM.
Traditional vs modified dynamic entry, Close Quarter(s) Battle (CQB). What are the differences between the traditional approach and modified approaches? What have we learnt since the start of the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT)?
MOUT, Urban Warfare, Entry, Tactical, Tactics, Urban, Breach, Breaching, Rye, CQB-TEAM.
A wildly important goal (WIG) is a goal that can make all the difference. You're going to commit to apply a disproportionate amount of energy to it.
In determining your WIG, don't ask "What's most important?" Instead, begin by asking "If every other area of our operation remained at its current level of performance, what is the one area where change would have the greatest impact?"

The Hypercacher Raid, or Porte de Vincennes siege was a successful hostage rescue mission. It also offered large opportunity for the French Special Police to learn for future practice.
Here are some of my thoughts on the CQB or Close Quarters Battle side of the raid. In all, a success. Their limited entries need work, however.
Riser Base, Riser Base Oilfield Equipment - WOM Groupwomgroup
WOM's Riser Bases are subsea support structures used to tie-in a pipeline at one end and provide vertical flange connection to facilities to connect riser jumper at the other.
Some people confuse peeking and pieing with limited penetration. They're based, partly, on clearing from outside the door but with emphasis on dynamic or immediate entry. Peeking is taking a 'snapshot' of an area by poking your head out and then bailing to concealment. It isn't made for fighting from the door or holding threat angles. Pieing is a semi-circular motion at the door that aims to enter immediately. The operator has limited opportunity to engage unless they distance themselves from the threshold before breaking the plane of the door with flank exposure to blind corners. Often, due to action-reaction or reactive-proactive, a moving shooter who is putting themselves in the middle of the door as they pie from frame-to-frame, is at a tactical disadvantage against a prepared defender.
The glide technique is the basic shot put technique which is quite easy for beginners to learn. In this technique, the player has to place the shot on the base of their fingers. The shot needs to be placed firmly near your neck.

This is the Croatian Sea Kayak standards system which I created in cooperation with the Croatian Kayaking Association and the United Nations Development Program back in 2011. The system has been going through the extremely slow process of implementation and acceptance by the government and is beginning to be implemented in full starting this year (2014).
Education has evolved, and we must evolve with it. Education trends indicate the importance of scenario-based training in situational awareness and other performance-based learning objectives. Experience of the Education Standards Panel (ESP) suggest development of core concepts, which can be built upon as different forms of recreational boats evolve, will provide improvements to the current system. This seminar session will communicate the ESP vision, why this is the direction being taken and generate feedback and buy-in from the attendees.

Up the Ratios Bylaws - a Comprehensive Process of Our Organizationuptheratios
Up the Ratios is a non-profit organization dedicated to bridging the gap in STEM education for underprivileged students by providing free, high-quality learning opportunities in robotics and other STEM fields. Our mission is to empower the next generation of innovators, thinkers, and problem-solvers by offering a range of educational programs that foster curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.
At Up the Ratios, we believe that every student, regardless of their socio-economic background, should have access to the tools and knowledge needed to succeed in today's technology-driven world. To achieve this, we host a variety of free classes, workshops, summer camps, and live lectures tailored to students from underserved communities. Our programs are designed to be engaging and hands-on, allowing students to explore the exciting world of robotics and STEM through practical, real-world applications.
Our free classes cover fundamental concepts in robotics, coding, and engineering, providing students with a strong foundation in these critical areas. Through our interactive workshops, students can dive deeper into specific topics, working on projects that challenge them to apply what they've learned and think creatively. Our summer camps offer an immersive experience where students can collaborate on larger projects, develop their teamwork skills, and gain confidence in their abilities.
In addition to our local programs, Up the Ratios is committed to making a global impact. We take donations of new and gently used robotics parts, which we then distribute to students and educational institutions in other countries. These donations help ensure that young learners worldwide have the resources they need to explore and excel in STEM fields. By supporting education in this way, we aim to nurture a global community of future leaders and innovators.
Our live lectures feature guest speakers from various STEM disciplines, including engineers, scientists, and industry professionals who share their knowledge and experiences with our students. These lectures provide valuable insights into potential career paths and inspire students to pursue their passions in STEM.
Up the Ratios relies on the generosity of donors and volunteers to continue our work. Contributions of time, expertise, and financial support are crucial to sustaining our programs and expanding our reach. Whether you're an individual passionate about education, a professional in the STEM field, or a company looking to give back to the community, there are many ways to get involved and make a difference.
We are proud of the positive impact we've had on the lives of countless students, many of whom have gone on to pursue higher education and careers in STEM. By providing these young minds with the tools and opportunities they need to succeed, we are not only changing their futures but also contributing to the advancement of technology and innovation on a broader scale.
