This document summarizes the different types of natural vegetation found in India. It discusses six major types: 1) Tropical Evergreen Rain Forests, found where rainfall exceeds 200 cm, mostly in northeastern regions and Western Ghats; 2) Deciduous or Monsoon Forests, in areas with 100-200 cm rainfall, dominated by teak; 3) Dry Deciduous Forests in areas with 50-100 cm rainfall; 4) Mountain Forests which vary by elevation; 5) Tidal or Mangrove Forests along coastal areas and river deltas; and 6) Semi-Desert and Desert Vegetations in areas with under 50 cm rainfall, featuring thorny bushes and plants that store water.
