Natural resources include renewable resources like oxygen, soil, water, wildlife and forests that can be replenished through natural cycles, as well as non-renewable resources like fossil fuels that take a long time to replenish once used up. The main natural resources that make up our biosphere are the atmosphere that provides air, the hydrosphere comprising 70% of the earth's water both on and below its surface, and the lithosphere consisting of the outer crust and soil. Natural resources meet humanity's basic needs and provide comfort and security.
