Strength-Based Perspective And Disengagement Systems Theory
Systems theory is where human behaviors are looked at individually. This system is helpful in creating an effective system which looks at the individual s
needs, rewards, expectations and attributes of their current life situation. This system can be composed of families, couples, or just one individual but
directly lets the individuals get involved in the process of fixing the problem (Kirst Ashman, Zastrow p. 184.) Strengths based perspective is what it sounds
like. This perspective is about finding the individuals strengths, and what they are passionate about. Having the individual lead the meetings is also letting
them focus on what they want to accomplish in the future, and lets them create their own goals with guidance. Disengagement ... Show more content on

Systems theory is one aspect to include in all cases because it is general knowledge. The questions that the social worker asked helped create a plan, and an
end goal for Mrs. Washburn. The individual s needs, expectations and rewards that come from having the help from a social worker should always be
included. Systems theory also creates a way for the individual to take charge, and accomplish their goals themselves. The social worker based their
questions off of systems theory because it was the easiest way to get general information. The strength based perspective is about being positive, and
looking at all the positive aspects in the individual s life rather than the negative aspects. The social worker created questions and comments asking Mrs.
Washburn what she wanted the outcome of the situation to be. Also, by starting off the conversation with letting the individual pick whether they want to
talk about a negative situation or a positive is a way to create balance in the meetings. Since Mrs. Washburn was passionate about her grandson, and
everything that he did, she could get involved in the community by doing the things that he loved to do. Also, Mrs. Washburn seemed to have a positive
relationship with her sister, so that could be another change to make for the future. The strength based perspective is about the future, and what positive
attributes can be made to enlighten Mrs. Washburns life. The disengagement theory is about how older people get lonesome and withdraw from family and
the community. Since Mrs. Washburn had lost her husband early, and her son Mrs. Washburn took custody of her grandson who has also passed away. With
such significant losses, disengagement theory is bound to happen. The social workers questions talk about how Mrs. Washburn felt about Roland Jr s death,
and how it would be possible to

Strategic Action Disney On Consumer Focused Initiative Essay
Assessment 1 MKT 220 Buyer Behavior Submitted by: Eirenne Lucia V. Reyes 14095156B Stream B Submitted to: Anika Vats Date: May 13, 2015 Part A
Question 1: Which strategic action Disney took in terms of consumer focused initiative? Give examples. (15 marks) In 1992, Euro Disney was launched in
Paris. This project unexpectedly received undesirable feedback from its target market since the company wrongly assumed that it would be easily accepted
by the Western European market. Disney received criticisms and negative publicity as they were thought to have brought American imperialism into
Europe and the French government acquired farmland just to create the theme park which resulted to protests from the French farmers. Cultural issues also
arose as most of its employees did not accept well the management style and the dress code, the customers were not satisfied with the language used in the
theme park, with the ban of alcohol consumption, the pricing of tickets and merchandise, etc. The company learned that they had to be aware and have a
full understanding of the culture of their host nation and apply it to the operations of the theme park; and this is the main strategic action that they had to
pursue in order to capture the desires and interest of their customers. As a result, Euro Disney was changed to Paris Disneyland to strengthen the identity
and nationalism of the theme park in relation with its host nation, France, and in turn the French were

Pros And Cons Of M4
According to South (2017), the Army is replacing the M4 with a new rifle with a bigger bullet by 2020. This essay will start out with giving a brief history
of the topic and discuss about the issue of the Army M4. Pro and cons on how to replace the weapons system would affect soldier maneuverability and
combat effectiveness. There have been many upgrades and negative complaints from the soldiers down range in regards to the M16/M4 since it s been used
within the Army. Within the past 20 years, the Army spent a lot of money on the M4 carbine program, but Congress didn t approve. They still certain that
the M4 is a superior weapon against enemies (Freedberg, 2013). The Army should replace with the current weapon system with a whole new ... Show more

A new platform would be more lethal, more effective, and more reliable than the M4. A major concerned with the M4 is that the M4 is prone to jamming
and malfunctioning due to fouling. Fouling is caused by carbon residue build up in the weapon system. In combat situations the M4 has been unreliable,
because the weapon misfires. M4 malfunctions include failure to fire, failure to eject, failure to chamber a round, and failure to feed. The Army conduct a
dust test in 2007 for testing M4A1 reliability. The Army testers and engineers selected ten M4s and three other weapon systems shot 6000 rounds in the
dust chamber. M4 has 683 stoppages and perform the worst against other weapons. In other words, the M4 jammed every 68 rounds (Lowes, 2007). The
other selected weapons are the Heckler Koch 416, XM8, and the FN SCAR. (Lowes, 2007). The XM8 jammed every 472 rounds and the HK 416 jammed
every 257 rounds. The XM8 has the lowest stoppage rate. If the Army adopted one of these three weapons, it will significantly increases reliabilities in the
combat zone. The second issue with the M4A1 is also closely related to malfunction. The M4 is easy to overheat after prolonged firing. There s two factors
that cause this problem. The first factor is the high pressure and high velocity round shooting out from the barrel. The other factor is the gas operation
mechanism of the M4A1 uses hot air recycles into the gas impingement tube back

Comparing The Perfect Storm And Super Natural Disasters Of...
Both excerpts provide thorough descriptions on the causes and effects of disasters. The excerpt from Super Natural Disasters of the 21st Century
demonstrates three massive natural disasters that recently occurred and the devastation that developed as a result. Similarly, the excerpt from The Perfect
Storm combines factual information with a personal anecdote on the experience of an intensive storm. Although both authors provide causes and effects on
natural disasters, they use juxtaposed strategies and techniques in order to support their claim.
The authors, Jacqueline Adams and Ken Kostel, who wrote the excerpt Super Natural Disasters of the 21st Century, adequately describe the causes and
effects of disasters in different ways. For example, in paragraph 10, it states that Nearly 80 percent of New Orleans sits in a ... Show more content on

This emphasizes how the percentages create the concept of how massive and dense the waves had been. Also, page 165 contains a photograph with a

The Success of Stephanie Meyer Essay
I d never given much thought to how I would die, but dying in the place of someone I love seems like a good way to go. Those are the famous words that
started it all, The Twilight Saga Phenomenon. The Twilight Saga consists of four novels: Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn. Stephanie
Meyer, author of the popular saga, majored in English literature at Brigham Young University. After graduating in 1997, Meyer chose to be a stay at home
mother to her three sons. The concept of the whole saga came to her in a dream one night. When she woke up, she took a pen and paper and documented
everything that occurred in her dream. She then based all four novels on that dream because she had a gut feeling that it was going to make a great ... Show

No one besides her sister knew that she was writing a novel, little known at the time, but the masterpiece known as Twilight. Since Meyer is a mother of
three, and is busy with her kids needs and wants all day, she would take time late at night to work on writing her novel. And in three short months, she
completed Twilight, regardless of her insignificant amount of experience in writing. In all four works, Bella Swan in the protagonist. The story is centered
around her life. All four books are written in her perspective. Meyer usually tends to write all her stories as first person narratives, including books that are
not related to the Twilight Saga like The Host. When Meyer writes, she becomes completely engrossed in the characters. The main reason why she writes is
because of the characters she creates. She envisions them in her brain. She talks to them all day, and they talk back. Coming up with the perfect names for
the two main characters was a very tough process. She wanted a name that was popular decades ago, but at the same time, she wanted a name that was
romantic for the vampire. Since Meyer grew up reading Charlotte Bronte and Jane Austen, she used the characters Mr. Ferrars and Mr. Rochester from their
works as an inspiration; thus leading her to choose the name Edward. After coming up with the names for the twosome, and was still in the process of
creating their story, they would constantly talk to her. She heard their voices all day, so Meyer would

Adrienne Rich Storm Warnings
Storm Warning by Adrienne Rich is a poem in which the speaker describes an oncoming storm and expresses her feelings about how to deal with the
problems she faces because of the storm. The poem s imagery and structure help convey the speaker s attitude of perseverance towards hardships and
problems that life often throws her way. In her poem she explores the connection between physical and emotional storms and how they are both inevitable.
The tone of the first sestet in Storm Warning is a foreboding sense of an unknown doom. The speaker seems to be unsure of what lies ahead but feels. The
speaker describes how the unrest has affected the enviornmemt around her but it feels as if the speaker is waiting for the other shoe to drop. The external

She describes her emotional state because in her emotional state she learns to deal with her internal struggle. The speaker specifically references to the

shifts to a more personal interpretation. The speaker describes all the manmade things that humans use to protect themselves such as the and even though it

Juvenile Retrograde Law
The government, instead of ensuring proper implementation of the rehabilitation and correction of the children in conflict with the law is shredding its
responsibility through this retrograde law, holding the children accountable for the failures of our juvenile correctional institutions. This would never

constitutional validity. The selective and unequal treatment of children between the age group of 16 18 years clearly violates the fundamental rights

Analysis Of Courtly Love In The Knight s Tale
Courtly love is simply a knight flirting with a nobleman s wife or vice versa. But in this story, it is two men flirting the same person. This obviously
destroys the relationship between the two flirtatious competitors, which is what happened in The Knight s Tale . They are prisoners of war, and locked in a
tower for eternity. When they see a beautiful woman, they both fall in love, escape, and fight each other for her hand.
Palamon and Arcite are locked in a tower in athens by Theseus after surviving a battle. They are fairly close cousins, but when both see a beautiful woman,
Emily, in a nearby garden, they immediately fall in love. Since love triangles never work, the cousins are blood thirsty for each other and try to kill each
other. They eventually find themselves in an arena ready to fight for the hand of Emily, winner takes all. Each person prays to and gets the help of a certain
god. The three main gods in this text are venus, the god of fertility, mars, the god of war, and Diana, the god of chastity. Venus helped Palamon, Mars
helped Arcite, and Diana helped Emily. Venus and her temple are significant in this story because she is the goddess of love and sex. This story deals with
the different connections of the flirters and the flirted.
In this Quote, the Narrator, the knight, is describing the temple of Venus in the arena.

Courage is an important trait that needs to be present in order to affect change. The book in the time of butterflies by Julia Alvarez demonstrates this need
for courage in the story of the four Mirabal sisters who acted with courage to create change in the Dominican Republic. They do this by showing great
courage in the face of oppression. Minerva was one of the bravest of the Mirabal sisters. She shows: moral, intellectual, emotional, and physical courage
throughout her life. These are demonstrated in her leadership and her heroic actions of resistance. Some of her main sources of courage were her childhood

Victoria s Influence On Tom Luis Luis De Victoria
The 16th century was a time of the Spanish Inquisition, which reigned for almost 400 years, forcing those who weren t Catholic to convert to Catholicism
(Koeller). Catholicism was a major influence in all aspects of Spanish life at that time, ranging from music to art and daily living. Being a 16th century
composer, Tomás Luis De Victoria was greatly influenced by the Catholic Church. Most, if not all of his music consisted of sacred pieces (Ferris). He was a
Spanish polyphonic composer whose specialty was in motets. Not only was he one of the greatest composers and musicians of his time, he was also a
scholar, a mystic, and a priest.
Victoria was born in 1548 in Sanchidrián, Spain, a province of Avila, Castile to father, Francisco Luis de Victoria and mother, Francisca Suárez de la
Concha. Victoria was seventh of eleven children who were born into a family already leading vast and successful careers. Three of his male cousins (on his
mother s side) achieved success by being a naval commander, a pioneer in Mexico, and a merchant in Florence. The merchant married Grand Duke Cosimo
I de Medici s sister in law and was ennobled. The uncle on Victoria s father s side, who he was named after, was a lawyer who pleaded cases before the
royal chancery at Valladolid (a city in north central Spain) and was later a priest. His other uncle on his father s side was also a priest (Stevenson).

The Stages Of Cognitive Developmental Theory
Piagets stage theory is also known as the cognitive developmental theory. Constructivist perspective. No matter the name Piaget believed that children
benefit most from concrete experiences or hands on activities that allow the student to manipulate his or her environment in order to build knowledge based
on interactions with the universe.(Mohammad,2012) Piaget believed knowledge is acquired in a set of stages. There is 4 stages that knowledge is obtained.
The first stage Sensorimotor occurs approximately between the age of two. Children at this stage develop the idea of Object Permanence. The idea that an
object exists even though they can t see it. In this step children also acquire the ability of reflexes. In stage two Preoperational stage begins. This usually
happens between the age of 2 7. Children of this age bracket are egocentric and are dominated by perception. (ch.2.4) They believe that the world exists
from their view point. They understand concrete present day stuff but no understanding of abstract. 7 11 yrs enter the Concrete Operational stage. The
logical stage. Children are able to se different viewpoints. There also good at understanding basic math, and classify objects by more than one
characteristic. (a yellow duck can go in yellow category and the duck category.) The last stage is known as the Formal Operational Stage. When a child is a
11 years or older they are finally understanding the concept of abstract thinking. Children

The short story The Death of Ivan Ilych written by Leo Tolstoy has characters that have a complex and varying views on death, and specifically the death
of Ivan Ilych. At the beginning of the story Ivan Ilych s friend, Peter Ivanovich, wanted to show his respects to the dead individual and his family.
Ivanovich viewing of Ilych deceased body caused a negative reaction. The story states, Besides this there was warning in that expression a reproach and a
warning to the living. This warning seemed to Peter Ivanovich out of place, or at least not applicable to him. He felt a certain discomfort and so he

This is supported by the response that Ilych s employees had upon discovering his death, which was It is he who is dead and not I (1266). It was true that in
the moment they were alive and he was dead, but in time each of them would also experience the same outcome of death. Their responses clarified each of
them had not yet came to terms with that idea that one day everyone s life on Earth would come to an end because they were human. However, there was
only one character that accepted death, which was the butler of the Ilych family named Gerasim. This was known when he responded to Ivanovich s sad
statement about the death of Ivan Ilych with It s God will. We shall all come to it some day (1270). Gerasim s reply shows that unlike the other characters
he does not deny that death is a normal occurrence, which may be the main reason why Ivan Ilych gravitates to him in the second half of the story. Ivan
Ilych was also unaccepting of death during the first half of the story, he even continued to refer to death as It . Addressing death with this pronoun made it

The Effects Of Gambling On The Brain
Gambling and the Effects on the Brain
Gambling is the act of risking an object of personal value, usually money, for the chance of winning a greater reward. A gambling disorder, previously
known as pathological gambling, is when gambling begins to take over all aspects of life affecting relationships, and work. The category that a gambling
disorder should be classified under in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth edition (DSM 5) has been debated. Gambling
disorder previously was classified as an Impulse Control Disorder, but in the new edition, DSM 5, it is classified as a Substance Related and Addictive

Of the people that use dopamine agonist medication for Parkinson s disease, 4.4% reported that gambling became a problem for them after using the
medication (Grosset et al., 2006). Some of the respondents initially did not admit to having a gambling problem, but later did admit to the problem, which
indicates the results possibly are underestimated at 4.4% (Grosset et al., 2006). At 4.4%, the statistic is relatively high and should be explained to patients
using a dopamine agonist as their medication to try to decrease the chances of developing a gambling disorder. The study noted patients who had a
gambling disorder normally were on a higher dosage of the dopamine agonist, but patients on lower doses also reported developing gambling problems
(Grosset et al., 2006).
Another disorder in which patients may use dopamine agonist medication is for restless legs syndrome (RLS). RLS patients are also at a higher risk for

approximately nine months of using the medication. With increased amounts of medication, the gambling problem got worse (Stone,

Essay about The Mirror Neuron and its Role in Action...
Although the control of action in humans is fairly well understood, the processes that underlie action understanding from observation are much more
unclear. In general, action understanding refers to the ability to recognize the purpose of an action performed by another person (Hickok 2008). Two
prominent theories exist to explain this phenomenon. The first posits that action understanding is an inferential process that integrates contextual clues to
determine the goal of a movement. In contrast, the second theory asserts that action understanding arises from the simulation of the observed action in the
motor areas of the viewer (Brass et al. 2007). While the inferential process theory enjoyed a period of general acceptance, the ... Show more content on

The researchers concluded that this indicated mirror neurons coded not just for action, but the goals of action. Kohler and colleagues (2007) expanded on
this idea, showing that some neurons were activated with the mere sound of the result of an intended action (i.e. cracking a peanut). The authors asserted
that this indicated that mirror neurons were so tuned to goals that the sound of an action reaching its goal was enough for the macaque to understand the
entire action that would have been involved. The results of both studies were said to apply neatly to humans as well. That is, if action understanding is
supported by the mirror neuron system of macaques, it is most likely supported by the human mirror neuron system (hMNS). There are two major
problems with this view. First, it has been shown that human mirror neurons are much more broadly tuned than monkeys. There is not enough evidence to
generalize macaque studies to humans in this way (Hickok 2008). Second, both of these studies fail to acknowledge that the activation of mirror neurons
may have been the result, or a byproduct, of understanding rather than the cause. Their activity, then, may only have reflected understanding earlier in
processing.
If action understanding in humans is predominantly reliant on mirror neurons, then these neurons should respond preferentially to the ends of an action
rather than the means; however, this is not the case. Hesse and

A Questionnaire on the American Samoan Society
In what ways was the traditional leadership of Samoan villages different from typical American leadership?
On the political level in the United States, most leaders are elected directly or appointed to office by politicians, although they often come from very
wealthy and privileged backgrounds and have their political careers financed by various special interests. Of course, much of the real leadership in the
country is based on wealth and income, or control of large corporations, bureaucracies and financial institutions. Samoa has a matai or chief system that
traditionally controlled the social, political and economic order. Those in the lower castes were expected to show respect and deference to their elders and
hereditary rulers, rather than the more modern (post French Revolution) concept of equal citizenship for all. Chiefs controlled all exchanges and the
distribution of wealth and land, which is also quite different from the capitalistic individualism that lies at the core of modern American culture, and
naturally the U.S. colonizers attempted to undermine this traditional system.
How did the traditional system of chiefly power reinforce the close knit social system of village life?
This traditional society in Samoa and other Polynesian islands was based on the clan and the extended family, each of which had elders, chiefs and
patriarchs. It was a collectivist and hierarchical society, not at all a democracy, in which the hereditary elites were the governing

Persuasive Essay On LGBT Rights
The LGBT community has made progress towards gaining more rights in recent years, although it has been an uphill battle. In the past year alone LGBT
marriage has been legalized in Australia, Malta, and Germany, with the legalization of LGBT marriage in the U.S. in 2015 also being a resounding success.
In addition, LGBT rights have also become a greater discussion topic in households, radio shows, and broadcasts around the world. However, while a lot of
progress has been made, LGBT individuals and their allies are still struggling for the basic human rights they deserve.
Discrimination feels like a relic of the past something Americans struggled against and that was outlawed in the 1960s. But this was not the case for LGBT
individuals. Today, in America, land of the free and the home of the brave, a lesbian can be fired simply for being gay. A gay couple can be refused a
wedding cake for the most important day in their life. A gay couple could be refused their right to adopt a child. Much of this discrimination is chalked up
to a concept called religious freedom. Religious freedom is the right to deny service based on the idea that it conflicts with the business owner s religious
beliefs, and has been used most recently to defend discrimination against LGBT people. The world has heard this argument many times before. According
to the LA Times, 1960s...a small chain of barbecue restaurants in South Carolina, said that its owner s freedom of religion would be violated if

Okaloosa County Police Report Sample
Statement of Attack by Fort Walton Beach Police Department, Accompanied by Okaloosa County Police Deputies on the night of 17th November 2016 On
the night of 11/17/2016 while enjoying the 5 new movies I just purchased from Walmart. During one of the movies there were some loud bangs which
sounded like either fireworks or gunshots. My girlfriend who was visiting, my boyfriend and I were startled. I asked my boyfriend if he would please check
it out, so he called his brother (who lives a few houses down) to come up. When he arrived they were both trying to determine where the sounds came
from. Whomever made the sounds were no where in the vicinity. His brother then left and he came back upstairs and we resumed the movie again. Shortly

They demanded we put our hands in the air and go downstairs. I kept asking what was this illegal intrusion about and never received any answer. I told the
officers we had done nothing wrong and I refused to put my hands in the air like some common criminal. They were the ones doing something wrong,
basically they are guilty of a home invasion and violation of all our rights. They continued to march us outside at gunpoint into the cold, where I had not
been in the past two days because of a cold. We were not allowed to get our coats or sweaters and I kept thinking I ll be getting sick all over again, my
girlfriend was also recuperating from a very bad cold. Once outside, there was no sign of Mr. Richard or Ms. Sue, when asked where they were the officer
replied they are OK, also asked what this was about and was told they did not know and when the Lt. Arrived everything would be explained. We stood in
the cold at gunpoint waiting on this Lt. to arrive, while they continued to search the entire house again without a warrant and without

The Chemical Compounds Of Synthetic Fertilizer
Once soil is intoxicated, the chemical compounds in synthetic fertilizer create a harmful environment for microbial life and are later dispersed to
surrounding areas through the process of hydrology. In naturally fertile soil, microbial life is diverse and abundant. In fact, as soil microbiologist David
Zuber has stated in his Soil Microbiology FAQ article, there can be hundreds of millions to billions of microbes in a single gram (about the size of a navy
bean in volume) of soil. These microbes range from bacteria, actinomycetes, fungi, cyanobacteria, protozoa, and microarthropods, all of which play very
specialized roles in maintaining the integrity of soil. Innately, microbes ward off pathogens, provide root protection, and maintain oxygen and moisture
levels. (Hermary). For example, microbes consume a naturally abundant and potent form of nitrogen (NH4+), along with other compounds, and excrete
preferred forms of nitrogen (NO2 N and NO3 N). This process, fixation, allow microbes to maintain a fixed levels of essential chemicals. Likewise,
through the process of denitrification, anaerobic bacteria provides oxygen to soil by removing excess nitrate (NO3 N), while other microbes aerate and
disperse the supplied oxygen. While microbes execute an assortment of other tasks, it is apparent that these organisms create a balance. However, with the
introduction of synthetic fertilizer, this natural balance is ravaged. As a result of repetitive application of synthetic

Hollywood Is Bad News For Creativity Analysis
Summary of Why Hollywood s Business Model Is Bad News for Creativity
The times are changing, and so is Hollywood, according to Edward Jay Epstein, author of the article Why Hollywood s Business Model Is Bad News for
Creativity . He believes that the big Hollywood studios that mass produce movies nowadays have ruined the future for low budget films that are more
about creativity and good dialogue. In this article, Epstein appears to be reaching out to anyone who enjoys movies, and is informing the readers about the
truth behind the movies we all know and love. The animated or comic based movies that take over the big screen are making it almost impossible for the
more original film makers to produce films that aren t driven by a franchise and

Today, The United States Illustrates Many Circumstances
Today, the United States illustrates many circumstances of race in which a group of a given descent is discriminated against solely based on their physical
appearance, despite the high demand for equality. Linda Darling Hammond states that the color line divides [populations] still... even in the 21st century
and will continue to divide people in future centuries ( Unequal Opportunity: Race and Education ). Some debacles of race include those of a minority
population being targeted, however the opposite is true for those trying to become a part of a college or university. In the college application process, the
federal government requires the administrators to ask which race the applicant is from on their college application, in order to ... Show more content on

lectures him about how laziness is not acceptable and will do him no good, despite the fact that he was John s equal. To show how many instances, big or
small, of racism are exhibited, even today, a news article published by CNN, states that 49 percent of blacks and 18 percent of whites believe racism to be a
very serious problem ( Poll: Most Americans See Lingering Racism In Others ), particularly in the college admissions process. Similarly, in the college this
process, race is a large determiner affecting whether or not a person is going to be accepted into any given university, but on the contrary, whites face the
hardship due to their lack of diversity. Whites, particularly males, have a harder time being accepted into prestigious colleges because the colleges have a
strong desire for diversity in their student body, creating an easier, less rigorous academic standard for someone of a

The Future of Outsourcing Essay
The Future of Outsourcing In this extremely technically diverse twenty first century, where businesses have become able to meet more and more of the
needs of people and other businesses, it is often amazing to think of all the individually operating parts which together make the business a success. Often
if even one part of that great machine falters, progress is halted. Thus it is crucial to any company to be as healthy and efficient as possible. As demands for
flexibility for customers and increased profit for administration continue to grow, more and more businesses are turning to outsourcing for the creation of
certain products and services. This is one way to alleviate pressure from businesses workers, allowing them to do their ... Show more content on

Despite his enthusiasm about not being laid off, Joseph s workload had increased ten fold in response to the company trying to sustain its present levels of
product production and customer satisfaction despite now employing only three quarters of the work force it formally had. Joseph is working longer hours,
thus spending less time with his family and getting less sleep. His general impression of his job (employee satisfaction) is quickly dropping. All this
contributes to his decreasing quality of work. Thankfully, after a few months, Joseph s good friend Bill (who has a strong hand in how things work at
Microsoft) notices Joseph s declining quality of work and general unhappiness and decides to make some changes. They decide to outsource many of the
more menial jobs that were once performed by lower level employees; those jobs which coincidentally now are the responsibility of Joseph. With these
other tasks taken care of elsewhere, Joseph is back to enjoying his job and designing some of the highest quality product produced by the Microsoft
Corporation. It is clear from this scenario how employee satisfaction plays a large role in overall company efficiency as well.
When a business makes the decision to outsource there are numerous factions affected. First and foremost is the person or team from within the company
who are charged with the task of deciding who they will choose to outsource them. They are termed the buyers . Being a buyer is perhaps one of the

Management Team, Change Management And A Disaster Recovery...
IT Organization Structure The organization must use governance and best practices to ensure that the right individuals are assigned to the appropriate roles
that can support the merged organization. IT can be a resourceful tool that facilitates growth requirements.
IT Security Privacy Companies are most vulnerable to data breaches when they exchange personal information during a merger. Most organizations get so
wrapped up in completing the deal, that they neglect best practices. Therefore it is necessary to create a framework that guards employee and customer
data.
IT Operational Processes Ensuring that all processes and controls are in place to enable the framework to run seamlessly. The framework should include a
support management team, change management and a disaster recovery contingency plan.
The Marriot and Starwood integration teams both worked long and hard to figure out which systems from each organization were the most efficient. Early
into the planning process we learned that a lot of Marriott s tacit knowledge has yet to be transferred into explicit content. They had no real system in place
and the ones that they do, are not fully optimized. Marriott is a family run business that grew into an organization; therefore they still have an old fashioned
way of doing things. Their billing functions are not electronic, as well as their files, payroll, etc. Starwood on the other hand since infancy has always relied

The social observation setting that I chose was a play area in the indoor shopping mall in the city were I reside. There were approximately 15 children
(divided equally among genders) of various ages, accompanied by several adults most likely parents or family members. Although many families and
children are not originally together, when facilitated in a common play area, social interaction develops. The children seem to group within similar ages,
which developed into three noticeable groups. Some of the children were brothers and sisters, however as stated before many of the children had never
interacted before. Although my wife granddaughter (who has Asperger s syndrome) was in a different area of the shopping mall, I observed the groups ...

My granddaughter is very social, in that she enjoys children and interaction with her peers. However, once you begin to play, there was a very noticeable
affect on the majority of children. My granddaughter does not self regulate well and can be become extremely hyperactive, without knowing when to slow
down. She does not communicate well (mainly because she is 4 years old), her intensity seemed to alienate her from the other children. Out of the
approximate 15 children, there was only two (one girl and one boy) who were not affected by her different ways. She does not realize how she is alienated
from the majority of children, she just interacts with two children who seemed want to play and interact with her. My granddaughter is very friendly
(always with a smile on her face) however, the children noticed her differences and were either afraid or alienated her. Although, it tears at your heart to see
her alienated (especially because she enjoys other children so much) it is imperative to expose her to inclusive settings. In addition to these inclusive
interactions, it is imperative for her to be in a progressive educational setting that allows her the opportunity to grow If an educational program is
successful, many autistic symptoms become less severe (Bogdashina, 2005, p. 168). This was an enlightening observation that brings light to the possible
future alienation of peers, it also brings a positive light that with successful approaches in inclusive settings all children benefit from play regardless of

  • 2. Strength-Based Perspective And Disengagement Systems Theory Systems theory is where human behaviors are looked at individually. This system is helpful in creating an effective system which looks at the individual s needs, rewards, expectations and attributes of their current life situation. This system can be composed of families, couples, or just one individual but directly lets the individuals get involved in the process of fixing the problem (Kirst Ashman, Zastrow p. 184.) Strengths based perspective is what it sounds like. This perspective is about finding the individuals strengths, and what they are passionate about. Having the individual lead the meetings is also letting them focus on what they want to accomplish in the future, and lets them create their own goals with guidance. Disengagement ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Systems theory is one aspect to include in all cases because it is general knowledge. The questions that the social worker asked helped create a plan, and an end goal for Mrs. Washburn. The individual s needs, expectations and rewards that come from having the help from a social worker should always be included. Systems theory also creates a way for the individual to take charge, and accomplish their goals themselves. The social worker based their questions off of systems theory because it was the easiest way to get general information. The strength based perspective is about being positive, and looking at all the positive aspects in the individual s life rather than the negative aspects. The social worker created questions and comments asking Mrs. Washburn what she wanted the outcome of the situation to be. Also, by starting off the conversation with letting the individual pick whether they want to talk about a negative situation or a positive is a way to create balance in the meetings. Since Mrs. Washburn was passionate about her grandson, and everything that he did, she could get involved in the community by doing the things that he loved to do. Also, Mrs. Washburn seemed to have a positive relationship with her sister, so that could be another change to make for the future. The strength based perspective is about the future, and what positive attributes can be made to enlighten Mrs. Washburns life. The disengagement theory is about how older people get lonesome and withdraw from family and the community. Since Mrs. Washburn had lost her husband early, and her son Mrs. Washburn took custody of her grandson who has also passed away. With such significant losses, disengagement theory is bound to happen. The social workers questions talk about how Mrs. Washburn felt about Roland Jr s death, and how it would be possible to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Strategic Action Disney On Consumer Focused Initiative Essay Assessment 1 MKT 220 Buyer Behavior Submitted by: Eirenne Lucia V. Reyes 14095156B Stream B Submitted to: Anika Vats Date: May 13, 2015 Part A Question 1: Which strategic action Disney took in terms of consumer focused initiative? Give examples. (15 marks) In 1992, Euro Disney was launched in Paris. This project unexpectedly received undesirable feedback from its target market since the company wrongly assumed that it would be easily accepted by the Western European market. Disney received criticisms and negative publicity as they were thought to have brought American imperialism into Europe and the French government acquired farmland just to create the theme park which resulted to protests from the French farmers. Cultural issues also arose as most of its employees did not accept well the management style and the dress code, the customers were not satisfied with the language used in the theme park, with the ban of alcohol consumption, the pricing of tickets and merchandise, etc. The company learned that they had to be aware and have a full understanding of the culture of their host nation and apply it to the operations of the theme park; and this is the main strategic action that they had to pursue in order to capture the desires and interest of their customers. As a result, Euro Disney was changed to Paris Disneyland to strengthen the identity and nationalism of the theme park in relation with its host nation, France, and in turn the French were ... This essay will start out with giving a brief history of the topic and discuss about the issue of the Army M4. Pro and cons on how to replace the weapons system would affect soldier maneuverability and combat effectiveness. There have been many upgrades and negative complaints from the soldiers down range in regards to the M16/M4 since it s been used within the Army. Within the past 20 years, the Army spent a lot of money on the M4 carbine program, but Congress didn t approve. They still certain that the M4 is a superior weapon against enemies (Freedberg, 2013). A new platform would be more lethal, more effective, and more reliable than the M4. A major concerned with the M4 is that the M4 is prone to jamming and malfunctioning due to fouling. Fouling is caused by carbon residue build up in the weapon system. In combat situations the M4 has been unreliable, because the weapon misfires. M4 malfunctions include failure to fire, failure to eject, failure to chamber a round, and failure to feed. The Army conduct a dust test in 2007 for testing M4A1 reliability. The Army testers and engineers selected ten M4s and three other weapon systems shot 6000 rounds in the dust chamber. M4 has 683 stoppages and perform the worst against other weapons. In other words, the M4 jammed every 68 rounds (Lowes, 2007). The other selected weapons are the Heckler Koch 416, XM8, and the FN SCAR. (Lowes, 2007). The XM8 jammed every 472 rounds and the HK 416 jammed every 257 rounds. The XM8 has the lowest stoppage rate. If the Army adopted one of these three weapons, it will significantly increases reliabilities in the combat zone. The second issue with the M4A1 is also closely related to malfunction. The M4 is easy to overheat after prolonged firing. There s two factors that cause this problem. The first factor is the high pressure and high velocity round shooting out from the barrel. The other factor is the gas operation mechanism of the M4A1 uses hot air recycles into the gas impingement tube back ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Comparing The Perfect Storm And Super Natural Disasters Of... Both excerpts provide thorough descriptions on the causes and effects of disasters. The excerpt from Super Natural Disasters of the 21st Century demonstrates three massive natural disasters that recently occurred and the devastation that developed as a result. Similarly, the excerpt from The Perfect Storm combines factual information with a personal anecdote on the experience of an intensive storm. Although both authors provide causes and effects on natural disasters, they use juxtaposed strategies and techniques in order to support their claim. The authors, Jacqueline Adams and Ken Kostel, who wrote the excerpt Super Natural Disasters of the 21st Century, adequately describe the causes and effects of disasters in different ways. Those are the famous words that started it all, The Twilight Saga Phenomenon. The Twilight Saga consists of four novels: Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn. Stephanie Meyer, author of the popular saga, majored in English literature at Brigham Young University. After graduating in 1997, Meyer chose to be a stay at home mother to her three sons. And in three short months, she completed Twilight, regardless of her insignificant amount of experience in writing. In all four works, Bella Swan in the protagonist. The story is centered around her life. All four books are written in her perspective. Meyer usually tends to write all her stories as first person narratives, including books that are not related to the Twilight Saga like The Host. When Meyer writes, she becomes completely engrossed in the characters. The main reason why she writes is because of the characters she creates. She envisions them in her brain. She talks to them all day, and they talk back. Coming up with the perfect names for the two main characters was a very tough process. She wanted a name that was popular decades ago, but at the same time, she wanted a name that was romantic for the vampire. Since Meyer grew up reading Charlotte Bronte and Jane Austen, she used the characters Mr. Ferrars and Mr. Rochester from their works as an inspiration; thus leading her to choose the name Edward. After coming up with the names for the twosome, and was still in the process of creating their story, they would constantly talk to her. She heard their voices all day, so Meyer would ... When they see a beautiful woman, they both fall in love, escape, and fight each other for her hand. Palamon and Arcite are locked in a tower in athens by Theseus after surviving a battle. They are fairly close cousins, but when both see a beautiful woman, Emily, in a nearby garden, they immediately fall in love. Since love triangles never work, the cousins are blood thirsty for each other and try to kill each other. They do this by showing great courage in the face of oppression. Minerva was one of the bravest of the Mirabal sisters. She shows: moral, intellectual, emotional, and physical courage throughout her life. These are demonstrated in her leadership and her heroic actions of resistance. • 13. Victoria s Influence On Tom Luis Luis De Victoria The 16th century was a time of the Spanish Inquisition, which reigned for almost 400 years, forcing those who weren t Catholic to convert to Catholicism (Koeller). Catholicism was a major influence in all aspects of Spanish life at that time, ranging from music to art and daily living. Being a 16th century composer, Tomás Luis De Victoria was greatly influenced by the Catholic Church. Most, if not all of his music consisted of sacred pieces (Ferris). He was a Spanish polyphonic composer whose specialty was in motets. Not only was he one of the greatest composers and musicians of his time, he was also a scholar, a mystic, and a priest. Victoria was born in 1548 in Sanchidrián, Spain, a province of Avila, Castile to father, Francisco Luis de Victoria and mother, Francisca Suárez de la Concha. Victoria was seventh of eleven children who were born into a family already leading vast and successful careers. Three of his male cousins (on his mother s side) achieved success by being a naval commander, a pioneer in Mexico, and a merchant in Florence. The merchant married Grand Duke Cosimo I de Medici s sister in law and was ennobled. No matter the name Piaget believed that children benefit most from concrete experiences or hands on activities that allow the student to manipulate his or her environment in order to build knowledge based on interactions with the universe.(Mohammad,2012) Piaget believed knowledge is acquired in a set of stages. There is 4 stages that knowledge is obtained. The first stage Sensorimotor occurs approximately between the age of two. Children at this stage develop the idea of Object Permanence. The idea that an object exists even though they can t see it. In this step children also acquire the ability of reflexes. In stage two Preoperational stage begins. • 18. Essay about The Mirror Neuron and its Role in Action... Although the control of action in humans is fairly well understood, the processes that underlie action understanding from observation are much more unclear. In general, action understanding refers to the ability to recognize the purpose of an action performed by another person (Hickok 2008). Two prominent theories exist to explain this phenomenon. The first posits that action understanding is an inferential process that integrates contextual clues to determine the goal of a movement. In contrast, the second theory asserts that action understanding arises from the simulation of the observed action in the motor areas of the viewer (Brass et al. 2007). While the inferential process theory enjoyed a period of general acceptance, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The researchers concluded that this indicated mirror neurons coded not just for action, but the goals of action. Kohler and colleagues (2007) expanded on this idea, showing that some neurons were activated with the mere sound of the result of an intended action (i.e. cracking a peanut). The authors asserted that this indicated that mirror neurons were so tuned to goals that the sound of an action reaching its goal was enough for the macaque to understand the entire action that would have been involved. The results of both studies were said to apply neatly to humans as well. That is, if action understanding is supported by the mirror neuron system of macaques, it is most likely supported by the human mirror neuron system (hMNS). There are two major problems with this view. First, it has been shown that human mirror neurons are much more broadly tuned than monkeys. There is not enough evidence to generalize macaque studies to humans in this way (Hickok 2008). Second, both of these studies fail to acknowledge that the activation of mirror neurons may have been the result, or a byproduct, of understanding rather than the cause. Their activity, then, may only have reflected understanding earlier in processing. If action understanding in humans is predominantly reliant on mirror neurons, then these neurons should respond preferentially to the ends of an action rather than the means; however, this is not the case. • 19. A Questionnaire on the American Samoan Society In what ways was the traditional leadership of Samoan villages different from typical American leadership? On the political level in the United States, most leaders are elected directly or appointed to office by politicians, although they often come from very wealthy and privileged backgrounds and have their political careers financed by various special interests. Of course, much of the real leadership in the country is based on wealth and income, or control of large corporations, bureaucracies and financial institutions. Samoa has a matai or chief system that traditionally controlled the social, political and economic order. Those in the lower castes were expected to show respect and deference to their elders and hereditary rulers, rather than the more modern (post French Revolution) concept of equal citizenship for all. Chiefs controlled all exchanges and the distribution of wealth and land, which is also quite different from the capitalistic individualism that lies at the core of modern American culture, and naturally the U.S. colonizers attempted to undermine this traditional system. How did the traditional system of chiefly power reinforce the close knit social system of village life? This traditional society in Samoa and other Polynesian islands was based on the clan and the extended family, each of which had elders, chiefs and patriarchs. It was a collectivist and hierarchical society, not at all a democracy, in which the hereditary elites were the governing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While denial is shown by them there is no doubt that they have changed, and only in disastrous ways. • 21. Persuasive Essay On LGBT Rights The LGBT community has made progress towards gaining more rights in recent years, although it has been an uphill battle. In the past year alone LGBT marriage has been legalized in Australia, Malta, and Germany, with the legalization of LGBT marriage in the U.S. in 2015 also being a resounding success. In addition, LGBT rights have also become a greater discussion topic in households, radio shows, and broadcasts around the world. However, while a lot of progress has been made, LGBT individuals and their allies are still struggling for the basic human rights they deserve. Discrimination feels like a relic of the past something Americans struggled against and that was outlawed in the 1960s. But this was not the case for LGBT individuals. Today, in America, land of the free and the home of the brave, a lesbian can be fired simply for being gay. A gay couple can be refused a wedding cake for the most important day in their life. A gay couple could be refused their right to adopt a child. Much of this discrimination is chalked up to a concept called religious freedom. Religious freedom is the right to deny service based on the idea that it conflicts with the business owner s religious beliefs, and has been used most recently to defend discrimination against LGBT people. The world has heard this argument many times before. According to the LA Times, 1960s...a small chain of barbecue restaurants in South Carolina, said that its owner s freedom of religion would be violated if ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. The Chemical Compounds Of Synthetic Fertilizer Once soil is intoxicated, the chemical compounds in synthetic fertilizer create a harmful environment for microbial life and are later dispersed to surrounding areas through the process of hydrology. In naturally fertile soil, microbial life is diverse and abundant. In fact, as soil microbiologist David Zuber has stated in his Soil Microbiology FAQ article, there can be hundreds of millions to billions of microbes in a single gram (about the size of a navy bean in volume) of soil. These microbes range from bacteria, actinomycetes, fungi, cyanobacteria, protozoa, and microarthropods, all of which play very specialized roles in maintaining the integrity of soil. Innately, microbes ward off pathogens, provide root protection, and maintain oxygen and moisture levels. (Hermary). For example, microbes consume a naturally abundant and potent form of nitrogen (NH4+), along with other compounds, and excrete preferred forms of nitrogen (NO2 N and NO3 N). This process, fixation, allow microbes to maintain a fixed levels of essential chemicals. Likewise, through the process of denitrification, anaerobic bacteria provides oxygen to soil by removing excess nitrate (NO3 N), while other microbes aerate and disperse the supplied oxygen. While microbes execute an assortment of other tasks, it is apparent that these organisms create a balance. However, with the introduction of synthetic fertilizer, this natural balance is ravaged. As a result of repetitive application of synthetic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Joseph is working longer hours, thus spending less time with his family and getting less sleep. His general impression of his job (employee satisfaction) is quickly dropping. All this contributes to his decreasing quality of work. Thankfully, after a few months, Joseph s good friend Bill (who has a strong hand in how things work at Microsoft) notices Joseph s declining quality of work and general unhappiness and decides to make some changes. They decide to outsource many of the more menial jobs that were once performed by lower level employees; those jobs which coincidentally now are the responsibility of Joseph.
