NADRA was established in 2000 with the main purpose of building a national biometric database of Pakistani citizens. It issues computerized national identity cards (CNICs) and other registration certificates. NADRA has over 17,000 employees and operates under a mixed hierarchical and matrix structure with provincial headquarters. It aims to include biographic information of every Pakistani citizen and has issued over 89.5 million CNICs as of 2012. NADRA is considered one of the top identity management organizations globally.

History Of NADRA
Personal Identity System (PIS) program launched by
Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan to register, manage
and issue all national identification cards to the
citizens of Pakistan and Muslim refugees settled down
in Pakistan.
Election Commission of Pakistan in 1965 presidential
election Modifications were conceded for the process
of the voter's registration to hold the nationwide .
7. New program NDO was initiated Prime Minister
Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto in 1973.
To perform and contain the statistical database of the
citizens of Pakistan .
Statistic database in government's computer accounts
was started in 1973
The Directorate General of Registration Pakistan
(DGR) and the National Database Organization
(NDO) in 1998 start computerize census data collected
