Each ratio reflects the level of sacrifice and self-restraint a society is willing to accept, against promises of prosperity and freedom. Some values seem to stabilise a frame while others cause collapse. Get the ratios right and we can have it all. Get them wrong and things get more desperate.

"Does Foreign Direct Investment Negatively Affect Preservation of Culture in the Global South? Case Studies in Thailand and Cambodia."
Do elements of globalization, such as Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), negatively affect the ability of countries in the Global South to preserve their culture? This research aims to answer this question by employing a cross-sectional comparative case study analysis utilizing methods of difference. Thailand and Cambodia are compared as they are in the same region and have a similar culture. The metric of difference between Thailand and Cambodia is their ability to preserve their culture. This ability is operationalized by their respective attitudes towards FDI; Thailand imposes stringent regulations and limitations on FDI while Cambodia does not hesitate to accept most FDI and imposes fewer limitations. The evidence from this study suggests that FDI from globally influential countries with high gross domestic products (GDPs) (e.g. China, U.S.) challenges the ability of countries with lower GDPs (e.g. Cambodia) to protect their culture. Furthermore, the ability, or lack thereof, of the receiving countries to protect their culture is amplified by the existence and implementation of restrictive FDI policies imposed by their governments.
My study abroad in Bali, Indonesia, inspired this research topic as I noticed how globalization is changing the culture of its people. I learned their language and way of life which helped me understand the beauty and importance of cultural preservation. ABOUT SECP • Mr. Zafar Hijazi Took Over As The Chairman Of The Securities And Exchange Commission Of Pakistan On December 19, 2014. • The Secp's Head Office Is Located In The Nic Building On Jinnah Avenue In The Blue Area Of Islamabad, Pakistan's Capital. • It Also Has Regional Offices Called Company Registration Offices (Cros) In Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Peshawar, Sukkur, Faisalabad And Quetta.

FUNCTION OF SECP: The regulatory functions of SECP fall under following four broad categories • Registration and licensing • Supervision(prudential and regulatory) • Appellate bench • Investor awareness and education • Administration of professional like chartered accountants, cost accountants and corporate secretaries
- 5. OBJECTIVES OF SECP Objective is to develop a Modern and efficient corporate sector • Capital market. Based on sound regulatory principles in order to • encourage INVESTMENT and • foster ECONOMIC GROWTH and PROSPERITY in Pakistan.
- 6. SECP DIVISION The SECP is divided into the following four divisions: • Company Law Division. • Securities Market Division. • Specialized Companies Division. • Insurance Division. • Law Division.
- 7. LAW DIVISION Objective Growth of enterprise, protection of investors and creditors, promotion of investment and development of economy Law division divided into three departments • Registration Department • Enforcement Department • Management Team
- 8. SECURITIES MARKET DIVISION Objective: Protection of investors, regulation of markets dealings in securities It has two departments: • Market Supervision and Capital Issues Department. • Policy, Regulation and Development Department.
- 9. SPECIALIZED COMPANIES DIVISION Objective: • To provide a regulatory environment for the development and promotion of a Non-Bank Financial (NBF) sector. • Protect the interests of shareholders, depositors and policyholders under the relevant laws.
- 10. INSURANCE DIVISION. The main objectives includes: • Regulates and monitors the Insurance Sector through Insurance Ordinance, 2000 and the Companies Ordinance, 1984
