Decide how well the story satisfies the criteria by answering the questions in each category. Give
examples from your story to support your opinions.
CONTENT
•Have the instructions in the question been followed?
Yes, they have been followed. All the questions have been answered
and the instructions have been introduced in the story.
RANGE
•Have a variety of past tenses been used? Is there a wide range
of vocabulary?
Yes, there is a use of past tenses during the entire story. For instance,
“It started to rain and the two friends walked under the big leaves that
were hanging from the highest trees. “
The vocabulary is a little bit complex. We tried to search synonyms for
words such as beautiful, amazing, etc.
ORGANIZATION
•Are the ideas and events organised logically? Are linking
devices used well?
Yes, the organisation is logical because from the beginning to the
end, the development is ordered by the situations in the chronological
way.
STYLE AND
FORMAT
•Is the story written using suitably neutral language? (neither too
formal nor too informal).
The story can be read by all the people. There are not neither too
difficult words nor too simple. There is a mix of formal and informal
language.
TARGET
READER
•Would the reader be sufficiently interested to want to read to the
end? Would it have a chance of winning the competition?
The reader would like to know what will happen in the end because
during the story the does not appear the name of the creature. In the
myth it is said that is a beautiful woman mermaid. The readers want
to read until the end of the story in order to know how the situation
that is happing to the boys will end.
It would have the chance to win because there is a mystery through
all the adjectives that describe the cave and the nature of the island. It
is very realistic and, in the same time, it is original because of the
supernatural creature.
