Queen Music Essay
Queen
Queen was a glam rock band that formed in 1971 in London. The band consisted of four men; Freddie
Mercury who sang lead vocals and played piano, Brian May who played lead guitar and sang, Roger
Taylor who was on drums, sang, and played guitar, and finally John Deacon who played bass guitar.
All four men also contributed and were songwriters. This British quartet developed into camp and
bombastic music which created a vast, mock operatic sound that consisted of layered guitar sounds
and overdubbed vocals.
Freddie Mercury was a flamboyant lead singer who brought a dramatic vocal style to the group. His
onstage antics were outrageous and brought a special personality and reputation to Queen. The

2005 to 2009 until they officially split up. On May 7, 2010, Taylor and May announced that they were
going to quit their record label, EMI, after almost 40 years of work. March 14, 2011 marked Queen s
40th anniversary. From 2011 to present day, Queen has toured and performed various times with many
different people. In November 2014, they released the Queen Forever album. All in all, Queen
contributed to genres such as hard rock, heavy metal, speed metal, and many others. Queen was one of
the first bands to use giant lighting rigs on stage and make performances more theatrical. They were
able to write anthems that are still prevalent in today s world. Freddie Mercury was the first and the
only rock musician known to compose, record, and perform classical opera. Operatic styling was

Chakra Number Three The Solar Plexus (Manipura) Chakra
The solar plexus chakra is about accepting your place within the greater universe, and about the
degree of personal power you allow yourself to manifest. To harness your personal power you need to
manage emotional issues effectively, manage your ego based responses to life issues; and allow
yourself to shine, shine like the sun this chakra center represents; which naturally is done by releasing
negative emotions to free up your energies to deal with better things.
The health of this chakra center bears largely on your perception of who you are, and how you
perceive and react to the opinions others hold of you. Your solar plexus chakra is also a center of
psychic awareness. The Sanskrit word Manipura means city of jewels .

The Importance Of Team Dynamics And Communication
Throughout my semester in SciTech, perhaps the most important thing that I took away from my
experience was the importance of team dynamics and communication in collaborative projects, and
this is particularly true in engineering fields, where it is absolutely essential to success, and, in my
opinion, significantly more important than the skill of knowledge of individual team members after a
certain point. Every team that I was part of during SciTech, the team for the semester challenge
especially, had numerous issues in cooperation and communication, and conflict repeatedly arises,
though we eventually learned how best to function together and were able to successfully complete the
challenge before D4 with a significant amount of time to spare, though we did have some issues with
time management in regard to the Final Report later. I have found that, although relevant skills to the
task at hand, proficiency with SolidWorks or a general aptitude for mechanical engineering for
example, organizational abilities, or other things of that nature, these are effectively useless without a
developer work ethic, a willingness to accept feedback and learn, the ability to effectively resolve
disputes, and good communication, all of which are immensely valuable in a collaborative setting. For
example, one of my group members spent more than a week on the quantitative analysis section of the
FDR, but I ended up having to redo large portions of it anyway (logbook 3/23), which

Trolls, Sexism And Women Online
While doing the presentation on the topic of trolls, sexism and women online, there are few learning
outcomes that are clearly being drawn. For this piece I will be exploring the example that used in the
presentation. I will begin with acts in the example and finished with discussing are there and moral
conflict between two sides of the voice.
The example we used in the presentation is Lushsux who is a boundary pushing street artist drew
Hillary Clinton wearing swimsuit with stars and stripes print on a wall in Footscray West. He asked
for permission from the local business owner before he do the mural. After Lushsux publish the mural
on Instagram and people started to posting on Instagram and twitter, the mural was given an additional
of US dollar bills stuffed down. Later on, Lushsux s Instagram account was blocked and local
government started to said it is offensive to draw a nearly naked women. Then Lushsux paint her into
a Muslim women and leave a message If you do consider it offensive, you are a sexist, racist, Islam
phobic, xenophobic, uncultured and ignorant bigot. No matter how Lushsux change the mural, the
local council ask the shop owner to clear it up within 10 days. At the end, the mural has to paint back
into all black then problem is solved.
Originally, Lushsux just want to draw public awareness. When we look back in his painting, he
painted Donald Trump naked and there is no reaction from the local council and nobody gives
attention to it. But when it

Jamba Juice has tried to capture a good portion of health conscious consumers by providing healthy
smoothies and other nutritious foods for customers on the go. Even though there are direct competitors
such as Planet Smoothie, Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, Panera Bread and McDonalds, Jamba Juice
remains competitive by offering its unique blend of smoothies. They are made with real fruit and
100% fruit juices that are blended to order. They are also rich in vitamins, minerals, proteins, and

Jamba remains a tough competitor due to its healthy menu.
Threat of Rivalry
Threat of rivalry is high as Jamba is competing against several brand name rivals that have the ability
to influence the industry. Jamba Juice is offering similar foods as the rest of its competition, many of
which are much larger, thus it tries to differentiate itself by offering healthy alternatives to its
competitor s products.
Threat of Buyers
The threat of buyers is high. Since there are many products and restaurants to choose from, Jamba
must provide a memorable and pleasant experience to its customers to entice them to return. In
addition, it must continue its marketing strategy of informing the public of the benefits of its products
in an effort to keep up its clientele. However, Jamba Juice must ensure that marketing strategies don t
become too costly and cut into its profits.
Threat of Suppliers
The threat of suppliers is high for Jamba Juice since it depends heavily on high quality supplies of
fresh fruits and vegetables throughout the year. It had to find distributors that were willing to flash
freeze the produce and agree to store it at their facilities until it was ready to be shipped to stores. In
order to lower distribution costs, the company must cluster future store developments.

Chie Chief Complaint
According to Bickley (2012) a comprehensive health history, which is often refer to as a complete
health history is the collection of certain health information that is unique to that individual. This
information is usually collected in an organized manner and consists of seven components. These
components are, identifying the data and the data source/reliability, chief complaint, present illness,
past history, family history, person and social, and review of systems (Bickley, 2012).
Identifying the data and it source/reliability the source usually is who is presenting the information,
such as, the patient or the patient s family. While identifying the data consist of the individual s age,
gender, occupation and marital status. On the other hand reliability is based on the patient mental state

Present illness present illness is a detail account of the problem pertaining to the chief complaint. This
detail account consist of the onset, setting, manifestation and attempted treatment measures pertaining
to the problem. Also under this component information pertaining to the individual s medication,
allergies, habits of smoking and alcohol usage is gathered (Bickley, 2012). The plan of care is usually

Compare And Contrast The Separation Of America By Thomas...
In the following pages I offer nothing more than simple facts, plain arguments, and common sense...
(Paine, 455), the opening line of a book which changed a nation. The renowned American author
Thomas Paine writes this straightforward sentence with one task in mind, persuade the American
people to declare independence from Britain. Discussing the controversy between the separation of
England and the newly formed America s, the author conveys that America must not only isolate
herself from England, but America must also reject a monarchical government. Emphasizing that Now
is the seed time of Continental union, faith and honor, (Paine, 456), Paine stresses the urgency of the
topic, that what is written must come to pass in the near ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Paine combats all of these notions with well thought out, educated details that sway those
arguments. For example, the idea of England increasing the profitability of America s trade is
addressed by Paine saying, Our plan is commerce and that, well attended to, will secure us the peace
and friendship of all Europe; because it is the interest of all Europe to have America a free port. Her
trade will always be a protection and her barrenness of gold and silver secure her from invaders.
(Paine, 458). Paine s use of the lack of the readers common knowledge allows for a compelling
argument which would enlighten audiences.
The second way Paine structures his argument for independence from Britain is through an extended
metaphor, comparing England and America to a mother and child. Through this metaphor, Paine
illustrates the toxicity of the relationship to the reader in plain language. Abandoning technical terms
and the phrases often used by higher class, educated individuals Paine keeps the metaphor plain and
simple so that everyone can comprehend the message. Paine begins the metaphor by highlighting the
destructive maternal relationship shared by the countries. But Britain is the parent country, say some.

Effects of Insulin on IGF-1 Receptors
Pref 1 has been linked to IGF 1 and ERK MAPK pathways where prevention of ERK phosphorylation
by the MAPK/ERK kinase (MEK) inhibitor PD98059 enhances adipocytes differentiation (Wang,
2010). Insulin also binds to IGF 1 receptors with low affinity (Smith, 1988) and stimulates the
formation of an active Ras GTP complex and ERK MAPK pathway (Porras, 1996) and the PI3K
pathway. Both these pathways appear to be required for adipogenesis (Sale, 1995; Sakaue, 1998; Tang,
2005). The Ras GTP complex activates RAF kinase which is phosphorylated to induce MAPK. The
phosphorylated MAPK interacts with Elk1. Phohosphorylation of Ekl1 facilitates binding to the
mediator complex via the Med23 subunit (Stevens, 2002; Wang, 2005). The mediator complex is a
multi protein complex which bridges gene specific transcription factors and transcriptional machinery.
The Mediator Med23 (Sur2) subunit was originally identified as a genetic suppressor of a hyperactive
Ras phenotype in C.elegans (Singh, 1995). Elk1 is a member of the ternary complex factor family and
an important regulator of adipogenesis. The Elk1/Med23 interaction controls the expression of Krox20
in a MAPK dependent manner by promoting a productive preinitiation complex which leads to
transcription (Wang, 2009). Krox20 is expressed in adipose tissue (Soukas, 2001) and is the first
transcriptional factor expressed during adipogenesis after insulin stimulation (Chen, 2005; Gonzalez,
2005). Krox20 expression has been reported to regulate

The Relationship Between Photography And Traveling
Although the relationship between travel and photographing can be traced back in the distant past, the
practice of recording experiences in pictures has become especially popular after the Great War. In
England from the 1920 s to the 1940 s tourism in the countryside grew dramatically, at the same time
cameras were made available to the average household. Individuals lost their dependency from
professional artists and photographers, and got the power to photograph a scene according to their
perception (Taylor, 1994). With the continuous expansion of urban centres the appeal of rural,
undiscovered and unvisited places grew side by side. In a world where changes were too fast to
comprehend, people sought refuge in the past and saw the camera as a way to capture the past and
take it home with them. Not much has changed since that time. These days people from different
social strata still seek for untouched places and authentic experiences, where they can feel themselves
to be in touch both with a real world and with their real selves (Handler Saxton, 1988, p. 243), and
photographs are believed to have the capability to capture the spirit of the place and to reproduce what
was seen or experienced (Robinson Picard, 2009).
Even though photographs are often described as mere representations of reality (Baudrillard, 1994;
Edwards, 2003; Robinson Picard, 2009), the practice of photographing has become an essential part of
the tourist experience. Sontag (1979, p. 9), for

Act 3 Of Julius Caesar Rhetorical Analysis
What exemplifies a speech in which persuasive appeals and devices convey emotion and persuade
audience members without using false information? Antony s speech in Act III of Julius Caesar by
William Shakespeare exemplifies a speech in which persuasive techniques work to achieve the
speaker s goal. Mark Antony s speech consists of several persuasive techniques that amalgamate to
form an effective piece of persuasive rhetoric. Antony s speech is an effective piece of persuasive
rhetoric because he uses ethos, pathos, and rhetorical questions. Mark Antony employs the persuasive

Rhetorical questions are meant to sway audiences to the speaker or writers thoughts on a subject.
Antony uses a rhetorical question to not only have the crowd think of Caesar, but also to have the
crowd think of Brutus. Antony says, He hath brought many captives home to Rome, / Whose ransoms
did the general coffers fill, / Did this in Caesar seem ambitious? (III.ii.16 18). This exhibits skillful use
of a rhetorical question because Antony not only contradicts Brutus about Caesar s ambition, but also
causes the crowd to support Caesar s character. This rhetorical question bears the contradiction of
Brutus because Antony refutes that Caesar was ambitious. This causes the crowd to question what
ambition means and what their idea of Caesar is. He tries to sway the crowd to support Caesar by
having them rethink what ambition is and what Brutus said. Antony also has the crowd question their
belief of Caesar and of authority. Antony uses a rhetorical question in, And to your heirs for ever,
common pleasures, / To walk abroad, and recreate yourselves. / Here was a Caesar! when comes such
another? (III.ii.178 180). Antony persuasively uses a rhetorical question because he causes the crowd
to question their meaning of authority. He also causes the crowd to once again question their idea of
Caesar. Antony tries to sway the audience to realize how good of a ruler Caesar was and how rare it is
that such a good ruler exists. In addition, Antony causes the crowd to recognize all the good that
Caesar did for them. By using this rhetorical question, Antony shows how great a ruler Caesar was and
that there is no one that is greater than he was. Antony persuasively uses rhetorical question to cause
the audience to sway their opinions to match

A Bleak Day By Werner Herzog
It s a gloomy day, the sky is a shade of gray, but no rain is falling. The air feels dry, sticky and hot.
The young girl is taking a journey to a jungle, a place she normally doesn t observe, a place where
humans and animals inhabit. She trudges her way to the centermost oak tree near Mason Hall. It s the
perfect spot: dry ground, a slight breeze, and shade from heat. On her way, she passes the boy from
her psychology class, she neglects to give him a smile. The Diag seems unfriendly today, but she sits
down anyways. She pulls out her shiny silver laptop from her overflowing backpack. She starts to read
her homework assignment, Werner Herzog s Conquest of the Useless, for her freshman year English
class. She young girl dives her way into the reading, she starts to think about where she is, what is
going on around her, and the journey that she is on. Suddenly, a bushy red squirrel approaches the
young girl. She s puzzled as to why the squirrel is advancing towards her. So, she quickly gets up to
escape the bushy animal s presence. As the girl moves from the tree the Diag starts to appear
differently and the girl begins to notice specific details she hasn t before.

It has been said that Arnold should have been the captured and killed instead of Andre. Major Andre
made multiple impacts on the US National Defense. While the mission he set out to complete failed,
Andre broke down the safety net the US thought they had. By gaining the trust of Arnold and setting
up the plan to take over West Point, Andre was the hole in what was set to be a perfect American plot.
If he did not get caught the outcome for the war would have been a different scene. The Americans
thought they had a fool proof plan when in reality they had one of the biggest traitors history has ever
seen in Benedict Arnold. For Andre to get Peggy on board to help with getting Arnold on board took
time and patience. The plan would have worked fully if the ship, Vulture, would not have been moved
downstream after Andre got the information from Arnold. This whole incident made the Americans
realize that there could be more spies among them, and therefore Washington had Andre executed, to
set an example for future spies. The second impact on US National Defense deals with the

plans and layouts for a military installation would be classified secret or top secret today.
Unfortunately, in the 1700s, there was no system of classifying documents. This could have been a

Slavery Argument Against Slavery
Slavery, though it was an inexcusable, helped shape the nation that we live in today. In the last few
weeks, I have become much more knowledgeable on the topic of slavery. People on both sides of the
slavery argument (pro slavery and anti slavery) earnestly believed in what they stood for. The
resistance to the end of slavery was likely out of fear, but some of the proslavery arguments were
completely ridiculous. John C. Calhoun once noted that slavery was necessary to keep the United
States from having internal conflicts. He believed that it was the free blacks that caused the social
disturbances in the North. Numerous southern slave owners held this same view, in fact, many were
convinced that the South was exempt from these disturbances because many of the African Americans
were slaves and had no means to cause these public disturbances. For these Southerners, slavery was
not just a practice, but a way of life. They feared what would happen if slavery was to be abolished.
This is proven because, years before the civil war was even a thought, the South was already starting
to get defensive about the question of slavery. Even though the practice of slavery was a big part of
how Southerners lived their daily lives, Calhoun s argument of why slavery was a necessary good
lacked foundation. Under no circumstances is acceptable to treat another human being as property. It
makes no difference as to whether or not they are of an inferior race, color, or cognitive

Essay On A Walker
The next morning, Charlie woke to a warm body pressed against her back and an arm draped across
her waist rubbing her wrist. Bass?
Morning, he answered softly, his warm breath brushing across the bare skin of her shoulder. Your
wrist looks fine this morning. Not a hint of green to be found.
That s good, Charlie whispered in return, trying to control her breathing. How s your head?
It still aches a bit, but It appears as if I ll make a full recovery. Apparently not as fast as you though.
Charlie held her breath for a moment before rolling over, lifting her hand to his face. It must be awful
to be as old as you and Miles if the recovery time is as slow as yours.
Charlie felt the corner of his mouth curve up just before ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Who s Flynn? she asked after the doctor left, leaning back in Bass bed crossing her arms underneath
her breasts.
Looking over at Bass only to find him ogling his niece, Miles grabbed her robe and walked to the bed.
How do you know about Flynn?
Whatever happened yesterday has to do with him, doesn t it? Charlie answered matter of factly as she
let him help her out of bed and on with her robe.
Join us for lunch, Bass suggested, taking Charlie s hand in his own, effectively breaking the tension
between Uncle and niece.
That s not happening, Miles mumbled as he turned towards the door.
I don t know, your idea of a good time is to get me run over! She called after them, a grin plastered on
her face as Miles growled.

She met Danny downstairs.
We need to find an empty house. Someplace bigger than this one room, where we can practice.
Are you sure? Danny asked, looking at his sister skeptically.
Charlie nodded. It s time. There s only so many lamps we can smuggle down here before someone
gets suspicious.
Danny sighed. We ve got time for a walk before lunch.

Jeremy was waiting for them in Bass office when they arrived.
So...Flynn. Bass said moving around to sit at his desk while Miles poured himself a drink and Jeremy
took a seat.
The driver of the wagon was found with a broken neck a block away in an abandoned building. One
person remembered someone matching Flynn s description

Using Video Games in the Classroom
Video Games could be used in the classroom for a wide variety of different subjects, ranging from
math, to science, to english and even in foreign language classes as many games that are made in
different countries are in that country s own language. Of Course games are almost always translated
into different languages so that people worldwide could play them but a foreign language teacher
wouldn t find it too difficult to get ahold of a copy of a game in a foreign language. Music classes
such as band or choir could even use video games such as Guitar Hero or Rock Band to teach their
classes about different types of music and different artists and to involve students more in playing
music and singing, this could even lead to some students entering a career in the world of music. A
Science class could use the wonderfully challenging puzzle game Portal to teach students about
physics, momentum and other gravity based mechanics. There are many different ways that video
games could be used in the classroom, schools just need to figure out the best ways to implement them
and make it work.
There are quite a few benefits to using video games in education, one big one being students would be
way more excited about learning through video games rather than through the standard way lessons
are taught in most schools today. If students are actually looking forward to a lesson than their
performance on the assignment is going to be greatly increased, students will actually want to

I Will Show A Picture For Everyone
First I will show a picture for everyone. Does everyone know this five people?
This five people are Chinese teachers. They came to the UK using Chinese traditional ways to teach
UK students. And take exam to compare with British education way which education methods are
better. About the result when I finish the Presentation I will tell everybody. In this Presentation I will
focus on 3 parts, first parts is basic system second parts is teaching methodology third parts is subject
Let s go to the first parts, in the first part I will give three sections class size, timetable, and after class.
As you can see the first picture is Chinese class, In China one class often have 50 students however in
UK class students is less than the China. There are often have 30 students in each class. It means that
in China teacher cannot pay attention to the each student like student s feedback but in UK teacher can
do it.
Now I d like to show you timetable for school day. You can clearly find that the first table is longer
than the second table because in China students have 8 classes in everyday but in UK they only have
6classes. Chinese teacher assume that when student at school long time, it can make student improve
their learning efficiency. However they neglect the student can feel so tired because they often stay at
school more than 9hours everyday. Direct regulation British students are relaxed. After class they can
go to the Interest Groups or play with their friends when they

Corporal Punishment and the Effects of Its Usage
Corporal Punishment and the effects of its usage Corporal punishment is the ability to make physical
contact as a form of punishment for reprimanding ones behavior. Corporal punishment versus positive
reinforcement while they both serve their purpose corporal punishment is known to be more effective.
The most common form of disciplining has always been either a spanking, corporal punishment has
been dated all the way back to biblical times. Now the corporal punishment that occurred during
biblical and slavery times might not be for the greater good, however the individuals who owned
slaves thought it to help one complete their job quicker and better. If one slave didn t do something
properly or escaped corporal punishment was enforced which resulted in receiving a beating from a
long strap; this is form of corporal punishment is actual abuse, yet it deterred other slaves from
committing the same actions as others. As a result corporal punishment has been around for years and
serves its purpose for every aspect in life. Throughout my book I ll be explaining the effectiveness of
corporal punishment versus positive reinforcement. The effectiveness of corporal punishment is
something that is much more than whooping a child for wrongful doing, but it s a deterrence
mechanism within households and even schools. As a result of corporal punishment it can have a
positive and negative effect it is something that works different on all individuals, positive
reinforcement also

The Radio During World War I
The radio was never used more or for a much more important reason than during World War I and
World War II. Prior to the first world war war, many ships used the radio for communication. In the
early part of the 20th Century, amplification was one of the top concerns of the development of the
radio. Of course people were able to communicate with others hundreds of miles away, but the clarity
and amplification of the messages weren t necessarily as good as many had expected and counted on.
Often times, other means of communication like the telegraph were better off being used instead of the
radio. Because of that, Lee De Forest invented the Audion vacuum tube in 1906, and followed that up
one year later by adding his triode tube. According to

History of the Euro Essay
History of the Euro
After the long awaited single currency implementation known as the euro, there have been many ups
and downs to this monetary system. Many have been quick to criticize while others still praise its
value claiming it will soon be valued strongly against the dollar. Our paper looks into the various
aspects of the euro and the progress it has made since its initiation. We begin with a brief history of
the euro then move on by raising some questions concerning the effects of the euro on various
economic aspects such as competition and global financial institutions. We then provide insight to the
various strengths and weaknesses of the euro and the implications this currency has on various
institutions such as banks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Average was a good thing to them. If there was too much departure from the average, it was looked on
as bad. If the community average were 5 percent inflation, then a country with either 0 percent
inflation or 10 percent inflation would cause strains in the system. All this economic coordination took
place through a country s exchange rate, and was compared to the Europeans Currency Unit (ECU)
fixed rate. The EMS continued its ways for fourteen years. In May of 1993 in Denmark, the
Maastricht Treaty was finally approved. The treaty set out three stages of further transition to
monetary union between participant countries of the European Community.
Stage 1
Involved the elimination of all restrictions on the movement of capital between Member States, and
between Member States and third countries. This was supposed to have been completed by January 1,
1994. This goal was never accomplished. They were, however, on their way to forming a monetary
union.
Stage 2
The second stage began on Jan. 1, 1994, with the creation of the European Monetary Institute (EMI)
in Frankfurt, Germany. The EMI was a precursor to a proposed European Central Bank (ECB), which
controlled the implementation of a common European monetary policy, conducts foreign exchange
operations, holds reserves of member countries, and promotes smooth payment mechanisms. The EMI
also holds the gold and foreign exchange reserves, oversees the

Law Questions Essay
1) Since the injured plaintiff was not wearing a seatbelt, why is Ford being sued for failing to test the
seatbelt sleeve? In the case of Branham v. Ford Motor Co., the Plaintiff brought the case against Hale,
the driver, and Ford because the company failed to test the seat belt sleeve, even though he did not
seriously pursue the claim against Hale (Reed, Pagnattaro, Cahoy, Shedd Morehead, 2012). The case
against Ford was based on two product liability claims: one for not testing the seat belt and the other a
design defect claim related to the vehicles tendency to rollover (Reed, Pagnattaro, Cahoy, Shedd
Morehead, 2012). Branham alleged in his case that Ford was negligent and strictly liable in failing to
effectively test the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ford s reasoning for dismissal of the negligence claim was that since Branham did not prove the seat
belt sleeve was in a defective condition unreasonably dangerous to its user meant that it should have
been dismissed as well. The court s decision to judge on the handling and stability design defect claim
portion (Reed, Pagnattaro, Cahoy, Shedd Morehead, 2012), this is true. 3) Is the consumer
expectations test or the risk utility test more favorable to manufacturers? Explain. In Branham v. Ford
Motors Co., the risk utility test is more favorable to the manufacturer. The consumer expectations test
is difficult to predict from a manufacturer s perspective because it is vague (Tracy 2010). Under the
risk utility test, a product is unreasonably dangerous and defective if the danger associated with the
use of the product outweighs the utility of the product (Reed, Pagnattaro, Cahoy, Shedd Morehead,
2012). The consumer expectations test is used to determine whether the product is negligently
manufactured or whether a warning on the product is defective. The courts noted that the consumer
expectations test was best suited for

Rhetorical Analysis Of Anti-Smoking Adverts
Anti smoking ads can be found all over the internet and TV . I choose an anti smoking ad where an
African American male walks into a general store and has to pull out a tooth to receive his pack of
cigarettes. I stumbled upon this ad when watching YouTube, it was an ad. This advertisement is
effective in achieving its purpose of spreading awareness of what smoking does to young adults
because it visually shows a man pulling out his tooth just for a pack of cigarettes. This ad uses logos,
ethos, and pathos to persuade the audience their argument. It uses pathos when the man is actually
pulling out his tooth, this brings the feeling of disgust for those watching. Logos is present when the
narrator says what smoking causes such as cancer and other diseases. Then finally ethos is also present
because the commercial is being put online by the FDA. Pathos is present from the very beginning of
the commercial. Pathos is shown when the opening scene is the outside of general store sometime in
the evening. This made me and possibly many other viewers uncomfortable because nothing happens
at night in a general store that is good. The next time that pathos is used is when the man at the
counter says, That s not enough when the African American male places down his money and I.D and
asked for pack of cigarettes. The scene makes me super uncomfortable at just the thought of someone
pulling out their tooth with a pair of pliers. Not only is he pulling his tooth out but they put in

The Uss Florida Case Study Essay
The USS Florida Case Study
The USS Florida Case Study In 1997, Commander Michael J. Alfonso made the history books.
According to an article published that year, they found that (regarding Alfonso) It was the first time in
the 15 year operating history of the United State s most lethal submarine that a Trident commander
had been dismissed, the Navy said. http://community.seattletimes.nwsource.com/archive/?
date=19970909 amp;slug=2559353). The article states that he was verbally abusive to the crew,
refused repeatedly to listen to opinions of other officers and senior enlisted personnel, and disregard of
his crews views which caused morale problems on board. When Alfonso first took command, the crew

Now and again, a sailor will have a crisis of conscience; they usually go to the chaplain and if they
don t resolve their reservations they leave the service.

mentions that the captain is responsible for maintaining morale of the crew. With all of this
information on what life is like on a submarine, it is safe to say that a leader in this situation should be
more concerned with high quality interpersonal relationships rather than high certification grades.
Therefore, Admiral Sullivan s decision to fire Alfonso was the right decision. Looking at the four
components of Emotional Intelligence that Daft (2011) discusses, it would seem that Alfonso was
lacking in all of them. He had no concept of self awareness he didn t seem to be in touch with his
feelings and how his emotions affected others. He could not self manage he did not control disruptive
or harmful emotions, he was not seemed as trustworthy, conscientious, or adaptable. He was not
socially aware of the people around him he did not seem to understand or empathize with others. And,
he was not able to build any positive relationships with others through relationship management.
Alfonso should look at these four components and try to incorporate them in to his life in order to
become a better leader. Daft (2011) states that if you take all four of the components together, you can
build a string

about a young girl and her experiences during the Holocaust. It explains both the occurrences

surrounding the characters in a different light than what would usually be seen in things including
textbooks or pieces of informative writing. Dialogue is one of the pieces reflecting large events that

Closed Circulatory System
The earthworm has a closed circulatory system. Which means that it has the blood closed at all times
within the vessels. Three main vessels supply the blood to the organs. These organs are ventral blood
vessels, dorsal blood vessels, and aortic arches. The ventral blood vessels carry blood to the worm s
body. Dorsal blood vessels carry blood to front of the worm. Kind of like a human heart, the aortic
arches pump blood into the dorsal and ventral blood vessels.
Earthworms breathe though out their skin and do not have lungs. To breathe, oxygen and carbon
dioxide pass through the worm s skin by diffusion. For diffusion to happen the worm must keep its
skin moist and live in moist soil. Worms have the ability to detect light even though they

Welfare Drug Testing Research Paper
Drug Testing Welfare Recipients If you have enough money to be able to buy drugs, then you don t
need public assistance. Said by Jerry Sonnenberg. For years now many people have wonder why the
government doesn t do drug testing when applying for welfare. Many say it s not worth spending
government money on, however if the government did do drug testing it could save the government
money. I believe that drug testing welfare recipients would benefit our state in different ways. I feel
that if the state was to make drug testing mandatory then it would help to prevent welfare fraud. Also
it could possibly save the state money in paying out welfare payments. It could possibly weed out the

same thing. In Utah, just 12 people tested positive in a year of drug testing applicants. In Florida, 2

  • 2. Queen Music Essay Queen Queen was a glam rock band that formed in 1971 in London. The band consisted of four men; Freddie Mercury who sang lead vocals and played piano, Brian May who played lead guitar and sang, Roger Taylor who was on drums, sang, and played guitar, and finally John Deacon who played bass guitar. All four men also contributed and were songwriters. This British quartet developed into camp and bombastic music which created a vast, mock operatic sound that consisted of layered guitar sounds and overdubbed vocals. Freddie Mercury was a flamboyant lead singer who brought a dramatic vocal style to the group. His onstage antics were outrageous and brought a special personality and reputation to Queen. The original four members, Mercury, May, Taylor, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On October 18, 2002, Queen was awarded the 2,207th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Brian May and Roger Taylor teamed up with Paul Rogers and toured from 2005 to 2009 until they officially split up. Chakra Number Three The Solar Plexus (Manipura) Chakra The solar plexus chakra is about accepting your place within the greater universe, and about the degree of personal power you allow yourself to manifest. To harness your personal power you need to manage emotional issues effectively, manage your ego based responses to life issues; and allow yourself to shine, shine like the sun this chakra center represents; which naturally is done by releasing negative emotions to free up your energies to deal with better things. The health of this chakra center bears largely on your perception of who you are, and how you perceive and react to the opinions others hold of you. Your solar plexus chakra is also a center of psychic awareness. The Sanskrit word Manipura means city of jewels . • 4. The Importance Of Team Dynamics And Communication Throughout my semester in SciTech, perhaps the most important thing that I took away from my experience was the importance of team dynamics and communication in collaborative projects, and this is particularly true in engineering fields, where it is absolutely essential to success, and, in my opinion, significantly more important than the skill of knowledge of individual team members after a certain point. Every team that I was part of during SciTech, the team for the semester challenge especially, had numerous issues in cooperation and communication, and conflict repeatedly arises, though we eventually learned how best to function together and were able to successfully complete the challenge before D4 with a significant amount of time to spare, though we did have some issues with time management in regard to the Final Report later. I have found that, although relevant skills to the task at hand, proficiency with SolidWorks or a general aptitude for mechanical engineering for example, organizational abilities, or other things of that nature, these are effectively useless without a developer work ethic, a willingness to accept feedback and learn, the ability to effectively resolve disputes, and good communication, all of which are immensely valuable in a collaborative setting. For example, one of my group members spent more than a week on the quantitative analysis section of the FDR, but I ended up having to redo large portions of it anyway (logbook 3/23), which ... No matter how Lushsux change the mural, the local council ask the shop owner to clear it up within 10 days. At the end, the mural has to paint back into all black then problem is solved. • 8. Compare And Contrast The Separation Of America By Thomas... In the following pages I offer nothing more than simple facts, plain arguments, and common sense... (Paine, 455), the opening line of a book which changed a nation. The renowned American author Thomas Paine writes this straightforward sentence with one task in mind, persuade the American people to declare independence from Britain. Discussing the controversy between the separation of England and the newly formed America s, the author conveys that America must not only isolate herself from England, but America must also reject a monarchical government. Emphasizing that Now is the seed time of Continental union, faith and honor, (Paine, 456), Paine stresses the urgency of the topic, that what is written must come to pass in the near ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, Paine combats all of these notions with well thought out, educated details that sway those arguments. For example, the idea of England increasing the profitability of America s trade is addressed by Paine saying, Our plan is commerce and that, well attended to, will secure us the peace and friendship of all Europe; because it is the interest of all Europe to have America a free port. Her trade will always be a protection and her barrenness of gold and silver secure her from invaders. (Paine, 458). Paine s use of the lack of the readers common knowledge allows for a compelling argument which would enlighten audiences. The second way Paine structures his argument for independence from Britain is through an extended metaphor, comparing England and America to a mother and child. Through this metaphor, Paine illustrates the toxicity of the relationship to the reader in plain language. Abandoning technical terms and the phrases often used by higher class, educated individuals Paine keeps the metaphor plain and simple so that everyone can comprehend the message. Paine begins the metaphor by highlighting the destructive maternal relationship shared by the countries. But Britain is the parent country, say some. The the more shame upon her conduct. • 10. Effects of Insulin on IGF-1 Receptors Pref 1 has been linked to IGF 1 and ERK MAPK pathways where prevention of ERK phosphorylation by the MAPK/ERK kinase (MEK) inhibitor PD98059 enhances adipocytes differentiation (Wang, 2010). Insulin also binds to IGF 1 receptors with low affinity (Smith, 1988) and stimulates the formation of an active Ras GTP complex and ERK MAPK pathway (Porras, 1996) and the PI3K pathway. Both these pathways appear to be required for adipogenesis (Sale, 1995; Sakaue, 1998; Tang, 2005). The Ras GTP complex activates RAF kinase which is phosphorylated to induce MAPK. The phosphorylated MAPK interacts with Elk1. Phohosphorylation of Ekl1 facilitates binding to the mediator complex via the Med23 subunit (Stevens, 2002; Wang, 2005). The mediator complex is a multi protein complex which bridges gene specific transcription factors and transcriptional machinery. The Mediator Med23 (Sur2) subunit was originally identified as a genetic suppressor of a hyperactive Ras phenotype in C.elegans (Singh, 1995). Elk1 is a member of the ternary complex factor family and an important regulator of adipogenesis. The Elk1/Med23 interaction controls the expression of Krox20 in a MAPK dependent manner by promoting a productive preinitiation complex which leads to transcription (Wang, 2009). Krox20 is expressed in adipose tissue (Soukas, 2001) and is the first transcriptional factor expressed during adipogenesis after insulin stimulation (Chen, 2005; Gonzalez, 2005). Krox20 expression has been reported to regulate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. The Relationship Between Photography And Traveling Although the relationship between travel and photographing can be traced back in the distant past, the practice of recording experiences in pictures has become especially popular after the Great War. In England from the 1920 s to the 1940 s tourism in the countryside grew dramatically, at the same time cameras were made available to the average household. Individuals lost their dependency from professional artists and photographers, and got the power to photograph a scene according to their perception (Taylor, 1994). With the continuous expansion of urban centres the appeal of rural, undiscovered and unvisited places grew side by side. In a world where changes were too fast to comprehend, people sought refuge in the past and saw the camera as a way to capture the past and take it home with them. Not much has changed since that time. These days people from different social strata still seek for untouched places and authentic experiences, where they can feel themselves to be in touch both with a real world and with their real selves (Handler Saxton, 1988, p. 243), and photographs are believed to have the capability to capture the spirit of the place and to reproduce what was seen or experienced (Robinson Picard, 2009). Even though photographs are often described as mere representations of reality (Baudrillard, 1994; Edwards, 2003; Robinson Picard, 2009), the practice of photographing has become an essential part of the tourist experience. Antony s speech in Act III of Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare exemplifies a speech in which persuasive techniques work to achieve the speaker s goal. Mark Antony s speech consists of several persuasive techniques that amalgamate to form an effective piece of persuasive rhetoric. Antony uses a rhetorical question to not only have the crowd think of Caesar, but also to have the crowd think of Brutus. Antony says, He hath brought many captives home to Rome, / Whose ransoms did the general coffers fill, / Did this in Caesar seem ambitious? (III.ii.16 18). This exhibits skillful use of a rhetorical question because Antony not only contradicts Brutus about Caesar s ambition, but also causes the crowd to support Caesar s character. This rhetorical question bears the contradiction of Brutus because Antony refutes that Caesar was ambitious. This causes the crowd to question what ambition means and what their idea of Caesar is. He tries to sway the crowd to support Caesar by having them rethink what ambition is and what Brutus said. Antony also has the crowd question their belief of Caesar and of authority. Antony uses a rhetorical question in, And to your heirs for ever, common pleasures, / To walk abroad, and recreate yourselves. / Here was a Caesar! when comes such another? (III.ii.178 180). Antony persuasively uses a rhetorical question because he causes the crowd to question their meaning of authority. He also causes the crowd to once again question their idea of Caesar. Antony tries to sway the audience to realize how good of a ruler Caesar was and how rare it is that such a good ruler exists. In addition, Antony causes the crowd to recognize all the good that Caesar did for them. By using this rhetorical question, Antony shows how great a ruler Caesar was and that there is no one that is greater than he was. • 15. A Bleak Day By Werner Herzog It s a gloomy day, the sky is a shade of gray, but no rain is falling. The air feels dry, sticky and hot. The young girl is taking a journey to a jungle, a place she normally doesn t observe, a place where humans and animals inhabit. She trudges her way to the centermost oak tree near Mason Hall. It s the perfect spot: dry ground, a slight breeze, and shade from heat. On her way, she passes the boy from her psychology class, she neglects to give him a smile. It has been said that Arnold should have been the captured and killed instead of Andre. Major Andre made multiple impacts on the US National Defense. While the mission he set out to complete failed, Andre broke down the safety net the US thought they had. By gaining the trust of Arnold and setting up the plan to take over West Point, Andre was the hole in what was set to be a perfect American plot. If he did not get caught the outcome for the war would have been a different scene. The Americans thought they had a fool proof plan when in reality they had one of the biggest traitors history has ever seen in Benedict Arnold. For Andre to get Peggy on board to help with getting Arnold on board took time and patience. The plan would have worked fully if the ship, Vulture, would not have been moved downstream after Andre got the information from Arnold. This whole incident made the Americans realize that there could be more spies among them, and therefore Washington had Andre executed, to set an example for future spies. The second impact on US National Defense deals with the classification system that we use in the Army and surrounding agencies today. • 20. Slavery Argument Against Slavery Slavery, though it was an inexcusable, helped shape the nation that we live in today. In the last few weeks, I have become much more knowledgeable on the topic of slavery. People on both sides of the slavery argument (pro slavery and anti slavery) earnestly believed in what they stood for. The resistance to the end of slavery was likely out of fear, but some of the proslavery arguments were completely ridiculous. John C. Calhoun once noted that slavery was necessary to keep the United States from having internal conflicts. He believed that it was the free blacks that caused the social disturbances in the North. Numerous southern slave owners held this same view, in fact, many were convinced that the South was exempt from these disturbances because many of the African Americans were slaves and had no means to cause these public disturbances. For these Southerners, slavery was not just a practice, but a way of life. They feared what would happen if slavery was to be abolished. This is proven because, years before the civil war was even a thought, the South was already starting to get defensive about the question of slavery. Even though the practice of slavery was a big part of how Southerners lived their daily lives, Calhoun s argument of why slavery was a necessary good lacked foundation. The consumer expectations test is difficult to predict from a manufacturer s perspective because it is vague (Tracy 2010). Under the risk utility test, a product is unreasonably dangerous and defective if the danger associated with the use of the product outweighs the utility of the product (Reed, Pagnattaro, Cahoy, Shedd Morehead, 2012). I stumbled upon this ad when watching YouTube, it was an ad. This advertisement is effective in achieving its purpose of spreading awareness of what smoking does to young adults because it visually shows a man pulling out his tooth just for a pack of cigarettes. This ad uses logos, ethos, and pathos to persuade the audience their argument. It uses pathos when the man is actually pulling out his tooth, this brings the feeling of disgust for those watching. Logos is present when the narrator says what smoking causes such as cancer and other diseases. Then finally ethos is also present because the commercial is being put online by the FDA. Pathos is present from the very beginning of the commercial. Pathos is shown when the opening scene is the outside of general store sometime in the evening. This made me and possibly many other viewers uncomfortable because nothing happens at night in a general store that is good. The next time that pathos is used is when the man at the counter says, That s not enough when the African American male places down his money and I.D and asked for pack of cigarettes.
