A public school,
 located in Palmira (Valle,Colombia), an
  agricultural city.
 with historical heritage value and
 known for its local academic, sport, and
  social leadership.

Tell me more about your school.
- Almost 2000 students from preschool to 11th
grade in three shifts, adults included
- Dynamic, talkative and creative.
- With few economical resources.
- With different English levels, different
self-directed stages, and different motivating
  sources.

Tell me more about your group
- Classrooms with 45 students.
- Three hours per week from 6th to 9th grades but in
primary, 10th and 11th grades only two.
- Different English levels are reached, from A1 to B1
    English level (CEFR).
- Few resources.

Do you like your English classes?
 Some students have poor engagement with their
language learning. They have low proficiency
and lack of support out of class.
 Students who have materials and support at
home have a better attitude. They like
communicative tasks more than linguistic tasks.

What is your attitude towards the class
           content and methodology?
 Students like communicative tasks
  with interesting or funny topics.
 Games
 Songs
 Audiovisual activities.

What is your learning preference?
 Public schools are characterized by big
class size, different language levels, little
  class time, and students´ poor
  engagement with their learning.
 There are not conditions for personal
  support.
 Learning environment is not adequate for
  the language learning process.

How can we improve our learning
               environment?
 Two computer rooms with internet
  connection
 Two audiovisual rooms
 One TV room
 Five laptops
 Video beams in 8th and 11th grade´s
  classrooms.

How many of these ICT tools have you
                used?
 Students´ textbooks
 There are old English dictionaries at the
  library.
 There are few materials for games in
primary.

Do you have more materials available at
                  home?
 English classes need a bilingual ICTS
room because the current ICTS room
  is not always available.
 Self-access Materials to foster
  autonomy in English learning.

Can you add more resources needed?
               Why?
 English classes at school are not
enough for a good language learning
  process.
 So, self-access materials are
  necessary to foster language learning
out of class. However, many students
do not have access to Internet at
  home.

Do you have access to Internet at
                home?
THANKS FOR YOUR
  PARTICIPATION
