2. LEARNING DIFFERENT
LANGUAGES
This article gives information about English speaking students learning
a second language; called second language learners.
• This will benefit our English Language Learners as well.
There are three similar but different software programs used by three
different school districts.
• Mango Language-Detroit Public Schools
• Rosetta Stone- Arkansas Little Rock School
• Middlebury Interactive Languages-Provo eSchool in Utah
3. SECOND LANGUAGE SKILLS
Learning a second language gives students a boost above their peers.
Using technology helps students understand and discover new
language abilities.
Those who are native English speakers have a better chance of finding
a job if they know a second language.
Technology allows a way for students to learn a different language not
supported by teachers.
4. ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS
Those who are English Language Learners often have a learning gap
with language arts.
• After reading this article there is a software that helps address this
learning gap.
• An English Language Learner may be on track with grades but their
comprehension is not there because of the language barrier.
5. Mango Language is the software
used in the Detroit Public School
System.
Mango is available online through
their library portal and mobile apps.
Builds conversational skills,
deeper level of understanding,
contains course placement tests.

MIDDLEBURY INTERACTIVE
LANGUAGES
Megan Dunningan, coordinator
for eSchool, states, “gives students
a wider variety of options to
choose from; not every school can
have a teacher who’s certified in
Chinese.” eSchool, June 2014
11. 21ST CENTURY LEARNING
Students are learning from real people in different cultures. They are
coming into the classroom. The students literally have the world at their
fingertips.
The engagement is high because the way of delivering content is
changing.
Technology is changing the way children learn in the 21st century.
They are writing the text book instead of reading it.
12. 21ST CENTURY LEARNING
These students have so many advantages to learning; failure is not an
option for these kids.
As an educator, my delivery method of teaching is changing for the better. I
will be letting my students discover content through more technology rather
than standing in front of them and telling them.
Bring the world to them and let them realize what it means to expand their
minds. Books can only take you so far, but when you can show them, actually
show them, the world, they will never be the same.
