The document discusses modern instructional techniques and proposes more effective alternatives. It notes that instructors often teach because it is expected or helps their career, not because they have a passion for instruction. Common problems include strictly following a syllabus regardless of student progress, focusing only on mistakes, having an inflexible view of the "right" way, and becoming frustrated when trainees deny errors. The document advocates leaving the ego at home and adapting instruction to individual trainees to help them learn and progress at their own pace.

Answering the Call to the Future
Roll Call! Evolution is inevitable, so we must deliberately move forward. Technology continues to open doors and present opportunities to step beyond the well-trodden paths of the past. As we Shape Our Future Air Force, we must capitalize on these opportunities to move to the next level - a level that meets the needs of today, but is agile enough to respond to the needs of tomorrow. This is especially true in the education arena.
The science of education is changing before our eyes. Information technology is producing new delivery methods that tailor the pace of study to the students’ strengths and weaknesses, ensuring a more effective learning experience. The blended learning approach - combining distance and in-residence learning - takes advantage of these technologies to deliver the highest quality education. It’s the approach we’re already taking in our Senior NCO Academy, and will soon implement in every NCO Academy.
The distance portion is about the information. Students can take up to a year, moving at their own pace, to learn theories and concepts that expand their understanding of the institutional competencies we need to Win the Fight. The competencies are at the root of the critical thinkers, adaptable leaders and influential innovators we need to lead the world’s greatest Air Force.
The in-residence portion goes beyond the books and the tests. It builds on the roots planted in the distance component by combining scenarios, exercises and interaction with fellow Airmen. There is dialogue, leadership reflection and opportunities to seek and receive feedback - everything students need to become more self-aware, deliberate and influential leaders ready and able to Strengthen the Team.
The blended learning approach delivers a higher quality education to all Airmen. The model is used at top universities around the world because it’s recognized as the most effective way to educate. We, too, recognize its value and are taking that next step. We are deliberately evolving our professional military education.
Education is and will always be critical to our development. As we look to the dynamic environment of the future, we must capitalize on technologies available today. The doors are open, the well-trodden paths of the past are behind us, opportunities lie ahead...and we are answering the Call to the Future.

Prior to retiring from the military, I filled a Munitions Accountability Systems Officer (MASO) billet. In short, MASOs are responsible for all munitions located in their AOR. They are also responsible for keeping 100% accountability, coordinating munitions transactions with outside agencies and supporting warfighter shortages downrange. Other than rank and skill level requirements, there were several training courses that I needed to attend in order to qualify for this position. They included: Munitions Accountability, Munitions Inspection and the MASO course, all totaling roughly one year of training. These courses not only encompassed accountability and munitions serviceability, but also delved into the supply chain and logistical requirements (another AFSC) to delineate how Supply and Munitions coincide during transport and inbound/outbound shipments.
Now that I am retired, I still have the opportunity to fill this position in the civilian sector. Since three of the mandatory training courses have been completed, filling the position would only require me to attend a two-week recertification training. If I decided to pursue a different avenue in business or logistics, our text provided many crucial elements for executing my job search. Networking is a big part of what the lesson harped on specifically, identifying and building your own network of contacts. The importance of job networking is evident as research shows that 70% of employees landed their current position through networking (Belli, 2017). Another strategy mentioned is obtaining education/training; something all of us are doing right now. Although all positions do not require degrees, completing them does help us further strategize by staying ahead of other candidates while filling a potential career prerequisite.

Total respect management ua tew 29 apr 14 - deel 1 - slsBYAZ
Modulair systeem opleidingen 2014 uac peter bloklandBYAZ
This is a model for organisational alignment.
The centre part represents individuals in the organisation. The left part is the strategy / management part of the organisation and the right part is the leadership / culture part.
Aligning all these elements with an overarching vision and mission is the purpose of organisational alignment.

This presentation, "The Morale Killers: 9 Ways Managers Unintentionally Demotivate Employees (and How to Fix It)," is a deep dive into the critical factors that can negatively impact employee morale and engagement. Based on extensive research and real-world experiences, this presentation reveals the nine most common mistakes managers make, often without even realizing it.
The presentation begins by highlighting the alarming statistic that 70% of employees report feeling disengaged at work, underscoring the urgency of addressing this issue. It then delves into each of the nine "morale killers," providing clear explanations and illustrative examples.
1. Ignoring Achievements: The presentation emphasizes the importance of recognizing and rewarding employees' efforts, tailored to their individual preferences.
2. Bad Hiring/Promotions & Broken Promises: It reveals the detrimental effects of poor hiring and promotion decisions, along with the erosion of trust that results from broken promises.
3. Treating Everyone Equally & Tolerating Poor Performance: This section stresses the need for fair treatment while acknowledging that employees have different needs. It also emphasizes the importance of addressing poor performance promptly.
4. Stifling Growth & Lack of Interest: The presentation highlights the importance of providing opportunities for learning and growth, as well as showing genuine care for employees' well-being.
5. Unclear Communication & Micromanaging: It exposes the frustration and resentment caused by vague expectations and excessive control, advocating for clear communication and employee empowerment.
The presentation then shifts its focus to the power of recognition and empowerment, highlighting how a culture of appreciation can fuel engagement and motivation. It provides actionable takeaways for managers, emphasizing the need to stop demotivating behaviors and start actively fostering a positive workplace culture.
The presentation concludes with a strong call to action, encouraging viewers to explore the accompanying blog post, "9 Proven Ways to Crush Employee Morale (and How to Avoid Them)," for a more in-depth analysis and practical solutions.

From Concept to reality : Implementing Lean Managements DMAIC Methodology for...Rokibul Hasan
The Ready-Made Garments (RMG) industry in Bangladesh is a cornerstone of the economy, but increasing costs and stagnant productivity pose significant challenges to profitability. This study explores the implementation of Lean Management in the Sampling Section of RMG factories to enhance productivity. Drawing from a comprehensive literature review, theoretical framework, and action research methodology, the study identifies key areas for improvement and proposes solutions.
Through the DMAIC approach (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control), the research identifies low productivity as the primary problem in the Sampling Section, with a PPH (Productivity per head) of only 4.0. Using Lean Management techniques such as 5S, Standardized work, PDCA/Kaizen, KANBAN, and Quick Changeover, the study addresses issues such as pre and post Quick Changeover (QCO) time, improper line balancing, and sudden plan changes.
The research employs regression analysis to test hypotheses, revealing a significant correlation between reducing QCO time and increasing productivity. With a regression equation of Y = -0.000501X + 6.72 and an R-squared value of 0.98, the study demonstrates a strong relationship between the independent variables (QCO downtime and improper line balancing downtime) and the dependent variable (productivity per head).
The findings suggest that by implementing Lean Management practices and addressing key productivity inhibitors, RMG factories can achieve substantial improvements in efficiency and profitability. The study provides valuable insights for practitioners, policymakers, and researchers seeking to enhance productivity in the RMG industry and similar manufacturing sectors.

m249-saw PMI To familiarize the soldier with the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon ...LinghuaKong2
M249 Saw marksman PMIThe Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW), or 5.56mm M249 is an individually portable, gas operated, magazine or disintegrating metallic link-belt fed, light machine gun with fixed headspace and quick change barrel feature. The M249 engages point targets out to 800 meters, firing the improved NATO standard 5.56mm cartridge. The SAW forms the basis of firepower for the fire team. The gunner has the option of using 30-round M16 magazines or linked ammunition from pre-loaded 200-round plastic magazines. The gunner's basic load is 600 rounds of linked ammunition. The SAW was developed through an initially Army-led research and development effort and eventually a Joint NDO program in the late 1970s/early 1980s to restore sustained and accurate automatic weapons fire to the fire team and squad. When actually fielded in the mid-1980s, the SAW was issued as a one-for-one replacement for the designated "automatic rifle" (M16A1) in the Fire Team. In this regard, the SAW filled the void created by the retirement of the Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) during the 1950s because interim automatic weapons (e.g. M-14E2/M16A1) had failed as viable "base of fire" weapons.
Early in the SAW's fielding, the Army identified the need for a Product Improvement Program (PIP) to enhance the weapon. This effort resulted in a "PIP kit" which modifies the barrel, handguard, stock, pistol grip, buffer, and sights.
The M249 machine gun is an ideal complementary weapon system for the infantry squad platoon. It is light enough to be carried and operated by one man, and can be fired from the hip in an assault, even when loaded with a 200-round ammunition box. The barrel change facility ensures that it can continue to fire for long periods. The US Army has conducted strenuous trials on the M249 MG, showing that this weapon has a reliability factor that is well above that of most other small arms weapon systems. Today, the US Army and Marine Corps utilize the license-produced M249 SAW.
Designing and Sustaining Large-Scale Value-Centered Agile Ecosystems (powered...Alexey Krivitsky
Is Agile dead? It depends on what you mean by 'Agile'. If you mean that the organizations are not getting the promised benefits because they were focusing too much on the team-level agile "ways of working" instead of systemic global improvements -- then we are in agreement. It is a misunderstanding of Agility that led us down a dead-end. At Org Topologies, we see bright sparks -- the signs of the 'second wave of Agile' as we call it. The emphasis is shifting towards both in-team and inter-team collaboration. Away from false dichotomies. Both: team autonomy and shared broad product ownership are required to sustain true result-oriented organizational agility. Org Topologies is a package offering a visual language plus thinking tools required to communicate org development direction and can be used to help design and then sustain org change aiming at higher organizational archetypes.
2. When I was a young boy I loved racing cars and wanted to become a Formula 1 racing pilot.
Soon I knew all the cars and their drivers where my heroes.
3. 5 september 1970
When I was just thirteen years old, one of my heroes was Jochen Rindt.
But he crashed and died.
That day, my parents told me that they didn’t like the idea of me
becoming a Formula 1 Pilot. It was too dangerous and they also said
that they couldn’t manage to pay for me to become a Formula 1 pilot.
4. So I abandoned the idea of becoming a Formula 1 pilot and I replied:
“ If I can’t become a Formula 1 pilot, then I will become … just a pilot.”
5. Of course, my dream was to become a Fighter Pilot!
And I do not know whether my parents took me seriously that day. At least, they did not object.

6. Because, being a fighter pilot, certainly in those days,
also was (and it still is) a very hazardous profession.
… But they didn’t oppose to my new objective.
7. So, having finished high school, I pursued my dream
and joined the Air Force, by going to the RMA.

14. Aircraft Accident Investigation and Prevention
Another assignment at the Air Staff Flight Safety – Accident Prevention and Investigation (1998 – 2003)
In this period, I was able to expand my view from flight safety (focus on aircraft and aircrew) to aviation safety (looking at the whole aviation
system). While boosting aviation safety education, I also introduced Operational Risk Management to the Belgian and Netherlands Air Forces.
16. To finish my career, I received
an international assignment at
SHAPE (NATO), dealing with
Nuclear Surety, Exercises and
Communication, Command &
Control. As such making sure
that NATO’s special weapons
were safe and could be used
whenever required. Hence
helping in preserving PEACE.
(2003 – 2007)
17. Excellence of today
is the mediocrity of
tomorrow. Constant
change is needed to
remain excellent.
18. The motto of my class as a pilot (83A) is “Semper Altior”, which means “Always Higher”. And indeed during my
whole career I was busy with taking people/entities to a higher level. First myself as a pilot, then my students as an
instructor, later my Squadron as a CO, then a whole Air Force as an Aviation Safety Staff Officer, and, finally, an
international cooperation as a NATO Staff Officer. This happened in a persistent environment of budget cuts,
reorganisations and change. Every step of the way has taught me how to do more with less and to work with
people that lived in uncertainty about their future. Today, I share this knowledge with people all over the world.
19. During my career I came across a
number of great people and I had
the opportunity to be a part of great
teams. Looking back at the end of my
military career, and as a result of all
those experiences, I was triggered by
the question: “What does it take for
people and organisations to become
and remain excellent?”
20. Everything starts with a
clear vision on what needs
to be done. You have to be
proactive, looking for
opportunities, watching out
for hazards, building on
strengths and taking
weaknesses into account.
21. Invest in the right people
and their training. Make
sure they have the right
aptitudes, knowledge and
skills. Provide them with the
best possible equipment and
give them space to do what
needs to be done.
22. When the mission has
been executed, take the
time to see what went
well and what did not go
as planned. Identify what
needs to be improved and
act upon it accordingly.
23. After contemplating the
question, I have bundled my
experiences in a model for
continuous improvement. The
KARAF model is a recursive
model, taking the human
factor into account.
24. Retiring at the age of 50, reaching the age limit as a Squadron leader, it
was still early enough to make a new start.
Which I did by founding BYAZ, a training, consulting and coaching
company.
The purpose of BYAZ is to convert the knowledge gained in doing more
with less and fit and apply it to today’s organisations and industries,
help them boost their safety and performance and increase their
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to become High Performing
Organisations
25. Following my own insights, I started to improve my knowledge on running
a business, by participating in a business plan contest, called bizidee.
I increased my leadership and coaching skills, by following ACC* and
PCC* level coaching courses. Additionally I engaged myself in NLP,
joining the ubeon Systemic NLP** Practitioner and Master programs.
I also followed a mini MBA program at Innotek and a starters
program at UNIZO, further strengthening my abilities to serve as a
business coach and a consultant.
* Associate Certified Coach (ACC) and Professional Certified Coach (PCC)
**Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP)
26. Soon, I worked with other institutes as a trainer/coach in personal/organisational
development and became a guest lecturer at a number of universities.
27. A book about:
Leadership - (Risk)Management - Excellence
I further developed my ideas with the help of Professor
Genserik Reniers, resulting in writing the book “Total
Respect Management (TR³M)” and the creation of the
TR³M Framework cube.
28. After writing the book, Prof. Reniers kindly asked me if I was interested in doing a PhD on the subject
TR³M. He proposed to join TUDelft for a PhD project sponsored by Netbeheer Nederland. (2014 - …)
29. After becoming a certified ISO31000 trainer in
2014, Alex Dali, president of G31000, asked me
to join forces with him to create a legal entity
G31000-Europe (2015), to support the G31000
activities in Europe.
A few months later (2016) I accepted, creating
G31000-Europe as an Economical Interest Group
(EIG), and becoming its managing director.
New BYAZ logo
30. As a first result of my study at TUDelft, the book SAFETY & PERFORMANCE came out.
This book is not about
performance. It is also not
about safety. It is about both
performance and safety, and
how these two are
unavoidably linked, in all
circumstances whether they
like it or not. It is the
combination of tireless
attention for and performance
and safety that delivers
sustainable profits in any
organisational context. To this
end, the authors elaborate
and describe an approach that
can be used exactly for dealing
with performance and safety
in one go, and asking the right
questions at the right time to
the right people.
31. TODAY
Today, I am still a PhD researcher at TUDelft, I am receiving an international audience at my
