Tall Tree Story
Once upon a time, in the Tall Tree Forest, Danny the Bear and Timothy the Turtle were playing
hide and seek by their favorite tree. It was Danny s turn to hide. He began to search the forest for
the perfect place. Timothy counted down from 15. Then there were 13 seconds. Soon enough,
Danny had 10 seconds to hide. Little did he know that his motherwas hurdling toward him. The
time was up and Thomas began to seek. Danny was ecstatic. The forest was silent except for
Timothy s steps and a sudden...
Danny! Oh, Danny!
Yes, Mother?
What have I told you about hanging around that Turtle?
I don t understand, Timothy is my best friend! Why can t you let us be friends?

As they entered the Bear s home, smoke was firing out of Mrs. Bear s ears, and finally, she began
to raise her voice.
What did I tell you Danny?
Timothy knew exactly what was going on.
Mrs. Bear, I do believe that you are making a deal about nothing. A bear and a turtle just want to be
friends, it s as simple as that. I think you need to understand that there is nothing bad about us being
friends. Species does not matter.
Excuse you, I am the mother and I can do whatever I please.
If I was a bear, you would let us be friends, and I don t see anyone telling you not to be friends with
Mrs. Tiger or the Monkey family.
Mrs. Bear started to turn red and the only thing on her mind was how she was going to respond;
but she didn t.
The next day, the Bear family loaded the last of their boxes onto the moving truck and wiped the
tears from their loved ones. Timothy was sad that they were moving, but he felt satisfied that Mrs.
Bear is allowing Danny to have more friends.
And everyone lived happily ever after.

craft. The situation with the weather in the air was even worse. Battered by the winds and
confused by an overly complex flight plan, the inexperienced pilots transporting Allied airborne
forces became mixed up in the darkness and strayed from their courses. Out of the 144 gliders
carrying British paratroops to landing zones, only 12 paratroopers landed on the targeted spot,
while 69 crashed into the sea and the rest dispersed over a wide ranging area. In the American
division, Colonel Gavin s 3,400 paratroopers were even more widely scattered. Gavin landed
twenty five miles southeast of his intended drop zone. The wide dispersion of paratroopers
seriously jeopardized the invasion plan by weakening the buffer these men were supposed to form.
Because of their previous conditions, the men of the 82d Airborne went right to work wherever

Axis air reconnaissance had spotted Allied convoys moving toward Sicily earlier that day, and thus
Guzzoni had ordered a full alert on the 9th. Based upon the reported airborne drops, Guzzoni
correctly assumed that the Allies intended to come ashore in the southeast, and he issued orders to
that effect on July 10th, about an hour before the first assault wave hit the beach. Nevertheless, the
weak and poorly equipped Italian coastal units hardly put up a fight. By the end of the first day the
British were firmly ashore and well on their way toward Augusta, having walked into Syracuse
virtually unchallenged. Resistance was not much stronger in the American zone, and the Seventh

Financial Crisis And Its Effects On Economic Growth
The late half of 1997 and the early parts of 1998 presented the world with one of the world s most
famous financial crises. This financial crisis proved to be detrimental mainly to the south eastern
Asian area, including South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Indonesia. The
aforementioned south eastern states recorded astounding economic growth in the preceding decade.
The downfall of the economy caused a domino effect in the local markets and currency markets of
each country. The nations leaders, as a result, had to request assistance from the IMF. Politics were
important in creating the financial boom, but they were also guilty of the subsequent consequences.
Similar to a number of financial crises in the past, the Asian financial crisiscame to be as a result of
unexpected economic growth. The countries were all under the influence of a number of different
economic criteria, such as cheap yet fairly well educated labour, lowered barriers to trade, and
economies based heavily on exports. Even Malaysiaenjoyed bountiful foreign direct investment.
All of these elements came together to make Asia dominant force in exports. This was proven by
the fact that none of the countries affected by the crisis experienced of export growth lower than
12% between 1990 and 1996. Not only did these countries experience rapid growth in exports, the
nature of the exports where product types are concerned also changed. The products evolved from
simple products like

Make Me Like A Well Watered Garden
MAKE ME LIKE A WELL WATERED GARDEN
It was the spring of 1980. My husband Ken and I had been in our first pastorate in the San
Joaquin Valley of California, known as the nation s Garden Spot , for almost a year. During the
summer of 79, several of our church members had generously shared with us the fruits of their
labors in their gardens and it seemed that everyone had a garden. Thus, when the spring of 1980
arrived, I, who never liked working in the dirt; I, who would rather wash, starch and iron shirts
than dig in a flower bed or weed a garden, decided we should have a vegetable garden. The former
pastor had two BIG ONES so surely, with the help of my pastor husband, who was reared on the
farm, we could have a lovely garden that would produce enough vegetables to feed us through
what Californians refer to as winter. Being the submissive wife that I was, I asked Ken what I
needed to do first. He borrowed a tiller (whatever that is) and began to prepare the soil for seeding.
All the weeds were cleared away, so that nothing was left but beautiful rich, brown dirt. Then he
made these little indentations, called furrows, down through the freshly plowed dirt and
smoothed it all out to perfection. Then I had to do the REAL work I dropped the seeds in those
little furrows. He came along behind me, covered the seeds with dirt, patted it down just so, and
then watered the entire plot. I was so proud! I had planted a garden! About three days later I said to

Inquisitorial and Adversary System
Supporters of the adversary system believe it is the best justice system in the world to balance the
rights of the individuals against the community s expectations that people who break society s laws
will be punished. There are many strengths of the adversary system. Party control is the first
strength of the system. The parties are in control of their own destinies. That is, they must prepare
and present their own cases and accept the responsibility for the consequences. This is an extension
of the basic democratic principle. Truth and conflicting interests is another strength. By giving the
parties control over their own affairs, it is more likely that great truths will energy from the
powerful conflicting arguments . Equality... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This right was introduced centuries ago in medieval England to protect uneducated peasants
from incriminating themselves when accused of crimes by the Lord of the manor. It is difficult
to defend the rule with a universally literate and educated populace. Many observers contend
that defendants should be forced to give evidence so that the judge or jury can make up their
own observations of the defendant s version of events. Accessibility is another possible reform.
Significant reforms need to be considered to make the court system more accessible to ordinary
people. They could include increasing legal aid funding, allowing acquitted persons to recover
their legal and court costs from the state and setting stricter guidelines and limits on legal costs.
The jury is seen as the ultimate protection of the people against potentially oppressive power of
the state. Randomly selected jurors are actively involved in the administration of justice after an
agent of the state has made a criminal allegation against an individual. The reasons for a jury
verdict are intentionally kept secret by law and because this is done here is very little public
scrutiny of the effectiveness of the jury system. The reason I believe that juries should be
compelled to give reasons for their verdicts is that a person who is about to lose their freedoms
from a jury conviction should be entitles to know the reason to be sure the verdict was based on
law and sound logic. An accused person could have

Therapy Dogs
We always say, Dog is the best friend of human, but how many of us know the history of human
canine relation and things that dogs have done for us? Maybe the one who truly loves dogs will
know about these. There is no exactly record about how dogs came into our lives, but dogs have
worked for human for the last ten to twenty thousand years. Although many dogs work for human,
it is not ethical to treat every kind of animals as property. The animals are first independent living
things, then they are workers for human. Just like human, none of the employers would treat their
employees as property, because every one of us is equal. Working for someone does not mean that
we are worse than anyone else. One of our misunderstanding to animals is that we always think we
are better than animals mentally, but in fact, animals can feel, sense, and think more than human.

their mistakes by punishing them in ways that will not harm them physically, like stop giving

human, but human should not breed them for personal gains, like greyhound and horse racing.
People may say that dogs enjoy chasing of prey, but these kinds of activities will only be harmful

Effective Leadership Papers

When I think about the ones that have had the lasting impacts of my view of effective leadership,
they all have one characteristic in common, humility. I believe to be an effective leader you should
understand that you will not always be right and you will not always have all the answers. My
definition of leadershipis simple; I believe that one s ability to influence others is the most accurate
test of their capacity to lead. Although there varying characteristics of effective leaders such as

Placing an emphasis on describing a compelling of what the future of the Coast Guard could be
like is definitely an area I could improve on. Often times I get caught up in the now and rarely take
time to forecast what s to come. In order to effectively communicate a compelling image of the
future, I must first understand what that image should look like and then take the time project that
image in a positive manner to my subordinates.
4.Challenging people to try out new and innovative ways to their work is another concept that I
should embrace more often. I usually live by the ideas that if it s not broke don t fix it. However,
I realize that I might be inhibiting member s potential by not encouraging them to seek more
creative and efficient to accomplish a task. I will place more emphasis on allowing junior members
to present new ideas and challenge them to improve on current processes.
5.The LPI Feedback Report also identified that I should pay more attention to how my actions
affect other people s performance. Without knowing if my actions are positively or negatively
affecting member s performance I can t identify areas I need to improve on or recognize the thing
that I m getting right. In the future, I will solicit feedback for junior members and use that

Changes In One Hundred Years Of Solitude Marquez
One Hundred Years of Solitude Essay A setting in a book can change a character s moods,
thoughts and feelings. It can affect their choices and behaviors, changing them over time. These
changes are seen in the book One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel GarcГa MГЎrquez. In this
story the Buendia family live in a town, named Macondo. They had many adventures in the story
and generation after generation have had a lot of kids. Then at the end of the story Aurelino, one of

At this point Fernanda and Aurelino are married and have a daughter named Meme. Aurelino
isn t in her life but soon tried to grow a close bond with her. Then Meme when she becomes a
teenager goes out to drink. Fernanda asks what happened, then Amaranta was startled by the
obvious burden of hate that the declaration carried (Marquez 272). Then Meme meets a boy,
causing Fernanda to be too overprotective and asked a mayor to put a guard at her house, lying
that her hens were being stolen. Then when Mauricio Babilonia came to see Meme, a bullet
lodged in his spinal column reduced him to his bed for the rest of his life. He sided of old age in
solitude (Marquez 285). When Amaranta tells Fernanda she was startled by the obvious burden
of hate in her, this shows how much having Meme changed her. She went from a leader to a
hateful mother and knowing Amaranta is a soulless, hateful person herself, it is obvious she can
detect it in Fernanda. Also, it s obvious how Fernanda has changed because when she found out
about Meme and Mauricio, she was furious. She was so mad that she was willing to put a guard
at her house and have a bullet lodged in his spinal column reduced him to his head for the rest of
his life and eventually killing him at old age. She was willing to put up a guard and lie that she
thinks her hens were being stolen, even though she knew Mauricio would die. Fernanda goes to
the trouble to murdering him, even though she knows how upset Meme, her own daughter, would
be. In general, this shows how at the beginning of the book she believed in becoming queen made
her a leader who wanted to make a change, but her behavior changed when she had a child, and she

Analysis Of George Bernard Shaw s Pygmalion
Social standing is central to the plot of George Bernard Shaw s play Pygmalion . The portrayal
of class identity in Shaw s play appears to be a criticism of the distinctions between high society
and the poorer classes in Victorian England. Shaw s aim was to portray how the upper crust of
Victorian society viewed the lower classes, as evidenced by Higgins treatment of Eliza upon her
first visit to his laboratory; Higgins treats her as though she is too stupid to understand that he is
insulting her. The assumption is that the wealthy view the lower classes as being somehow
lesser. So what is it that Shaw is trying to impart upon the reader? Shaw appeared to show open
disdain not just for the upper class of society but for society in general, and Pygmalion may be
interpreted as an open criticism of class distinctions in Victorian England. Class distinctions are
made abundantly clear in Shaw s Pygmalion. Eliza is representative of Shaw s view of the
English working class of the day: Crude, crass, and seemingly unintelligent yet worthy of pity.
Equal criticism is leveled at the upper classes, who pass judgement upon the poor precipitated by
their appearance and mannerisms. Higgins and Pickering s attitude towards Eliza is one of
derision, stemming from their difference in social status. For instance, Higgins open mockery of
Eliza s speech: You see this creature with her kerbstone English: the English that will keep her in
the gutter to the end of her days. (Shaw.

Horses Are Better Than Pets
On July 8, 2016, Jaycee Dugard sat down for an interview with Diane Sawyer, where she
mentioned that equine therapy played a role in healing her after eighteen years of captivity, but
she is not the only one that realizes the therapeutic quality of horses. Over two million households
own horses. Horses make great pets because they re easier to care for, are better prepared for
dangerous situations, and offer numerous physical and mental advantages. In this paper, I argue
that domesticated horses are better pets than dogs are.
Owners can care for horses more easily than dogs. First off, horses only have one foal at a time
when they breed. On the contrary, dogs can give birth to several puppies, causing the owners to
stress. Puppies, being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, the child invests more effort and time into owning the horse than their parents do. Children
learn more responsibility because they spend so much time cleaning, feeding, and caring for their
horse. Parents have the responsibility of paying for the animal, which albeit, is an expensive task,
but it is not one done in vain. With a dog, much of the responsibility can be allocated to the parents
because they see dogs as another child or friend that they can pamper. Although this is beneficial
for the parents, it is not teaching their children how to be responsible for live animals. Moreover,
three doctors conducted a study on the effects of horseback riding in children with spastic
cerebral palsy. They found that the studied children s muscle symmetry improved, rendering other
stretching practices useless. Because the walking gait of a horse mimics a human s walk, the
muscles in people s legs get stretched out. Physically disabled kids can learn to walk again after a
traumatic event or after being born with paralysis. Even mentally disabled children or kids with
autism have been shown to speak and socialize better. All children can benefit from horseback
riding, not just the healthy, normal ones. Furthermore, horseback riding does not appear to be
exercise, but it actually works many muscles of the core and lower body. According to

Gargantua And Pantagruel
Through numerous fruitless consulting of authority, the figure of authority is depicted as unhelpful,
ignorant and self centered in the second half of the third book of Rabelais Gargantua and
Pantagruel. Montaigne not only indicates similar possible problems of the authority as Rabelais
does, but also provides corresponding solutions to such problems in his On Educating Children. I
will argue that, basing on Montaigne s solutions, one can convert unhelpful, ignorant and self
centered authorities in Gargantua and Pantagruelinto ones that are so beneficial and significant that
can effectively promote learning. Rabelais holds a totally critical and satirical attitude towards the
contribution of authority to learning, but Montaigne, on the opposite,... Show more content on

In the first book of Gargantua and Pantagruel, Rabelais takes the whole eleventh chapters to show
not only the naughty but also the unmannered and disrespectful behaviors of childhood Gargantua,
for instance, often spat in the collection plate (Gargantua and Pantagruel, Rabelais, p.31); it is also
said Gargantua grew and was taught all the proper discipline, by his farther (Gargantua and
Pantagruel, Rabelais, p.31), which is certainly an irony. Gargantua s Father is a form of authority to
his Gargantua, but the identity of the parent determines the existence of spoiling, which is
detrimental to the development and growth of the children. Montaigne also suggests that parents
spoiling will slow down the process of learning especially individual s physical and mental
development. (The Essays: A Selection, Montaigne, p.43). Just as he does in the previous example,
Montaigne provides the solution, that the authority of the tutor, which must be sovereign for the
boy, is hampered and interrupted by the presence of his parents. (The Essays: A Selection,
Montaigne, p.47). Montaigne s solution is to put the authority of tutor over the authority of

Pride And Prejudice V Bride And Prejudice Essay
The way of life in this modern society has developed itself over hundreds of years. Still, however
changed, the values of today s society remain from the period of Regency England. Regency
England, being the super power of the world in the 18th century, imposed the morals and ethics
upon the world as they did their own country, where people were expected to abide by. Jane Austen
illustrates the values of this prejudiced society through Pride and Prejudice, which involved the role
of women as a major, governing over their marriages for economic sustainability and their lack of
authority. Austen s controversial novel was adapted into a feature film which presented the real and

during the time of Regency England В– which was entirely out of the benefit of their families. The
source of Charlotte s distress stems from the fact that women are unable to inherit their family s
fortune unless they marry a man who can. From birth, women are thrown into a race to wed in
fear of being disowned or becoming a burden to the family when the father of the household dies.
Marriage, at the time, was mainly viewed as a commitment solely for the purpose of economic
sustainability rather than a one of love and care.
In 20th century India, these laws and morals of Regency England that bind women are not so strict
that they are fated to ruin without marriage, but are continued in the customs and way of living. In
Bride and Prejudice, the situation remains similar for Chandra Lamba to Charlotte s from Pride and

Adult Attachment Styles By Mary Ainsworth
Adult Attachment Styles The attachment style that an individual exhibits as an infant can affect
their adult romantic relationships. An attachment pattern is established in early childhood
attachments and continues to function as a working model for relationships in adulthood. This
model of attachment influences how each of us reacts to our needs and how we go about getting
them met. The ability to recognize one s attachment can help someone to understand their strengths
and vulnerabilities in a relationship. Psychologist, Mary Ainsworth, provided the most famous body

As an adult people with dismissive avoidant attachment have the tendency to emotionally distance
themselves from their partner. They deny the importance of loved ones and detach easily from
them. They can shut down emotionally and are able to turn off their feelings. Preoccupied
/ Ambivalent Attachment occurs because parents are inconsistently available to the child. This
can result in a high degree of attachment seeking behavior, mixed with angry feelings. As an
adult, people tend to become clingy and demanding toward their partner. Instead of feeling real
love or trust toward their partner they look to their partner for a sense of safety and security by
clinging to their partner. They often feel unsure of their partner s feelings and unsafe in their

The Importance Of Ergogenic Aids
Ergogenic aids are widely used by athletes to help maximize training and improve overall
performance. Many companies that sell ergogenic aids often target athletes with claims of
improving strength, power, aerobic endurance, and reduced recovery time. However most
ergogenic aids fall short on delivering these claims. With so much misinformation, it is important
that athletes only take ergogenic supplements that have been supported by scientific literature that
has proved they improve exercise and performance. This report will profile the ergogenic aids of

cholesterol, depression, and production in inflammation (Swanson, Block, Mousa, 2012). Another
type of fatty acid in Omega 3 is docosahexaenoic acids (DHAs), which are associated with
increased production of healthy HDL cholesterol, brain function, and a decrease in triglycerides
(Swanson, Block, Mousa, 2012). The third essential fatty acid from Omega 3 is alpha linolenic
acids (ALAs), however only 5 10 percent of ALAs can be converted into functional forms

increasing the presences of DHA and EPA in the body, can help athletes improve performance by
increasing gains in lean muscle growth, limit rate of muscle loss, and reduce muscle soreness by
regulating inflammation production. Increased intake of Omega 3 fatty acids, when combined with
anaerobic type of training, can lead to muscle growth. A study by Smith et al., 2011, evaluated the
effects of 8 weeks of supplementation of omega 3 on health subjects between the ages of 25 45

concentrations within the muscle cell. The study concluded that omega 3 supplementation has a

How Does Leo Tolstoy Use Direct Characterization In Anna...
Use Of Indirect Characterization in Anna Karenina
Russian author, Leo Tolstoy, is famous for his novels, among them, Anna Karenina . It is said that
Tolstoy reaches unsurpassed perfection in the realistic art of the novel with Anna Karenina .
In the novel Anna Karenina , Tolstoyleads the reader through Anna Arkadyevna Karenin s life and
all the people who surround her. The reader follows Anna as she sorts out a fightbetween her
brother Stepan and his wife Dolly. Next the reader finds themselves trailing Anna as she dances
away from a Moscow ball with Count Vronsky s heart. The path this novel takes then forks as the

Instead of being hurt, denying, defending himself, begging for forgiveness, instead of remaining
indifferent even . . . his face utterly involuntary assumed its habitual, good humored, and therefore
idiotic smile (5 6). Even though Stepan s in a bad situation, his nature forces him to smile.
The reader becomes more aware of Stepan s good natured personality when he shows kindness to
his friend Levin after he approaches Stepan at a political council meeting. Well lets go into my
room, said Stepan Arkadyevitch who knew his friends sensitive and irritable shyness (29).
With the character Levin, Tolstoy once again cleverly uses indirect characterization to allow the
reader to look inside of him. When Levin falls into the story, he has just been caught sneaking
into the political council without permission. Usually, men of good character would not need, or
simply would not want to be sneaking into places where their presence is not invited. Levin is
also a large man who is strongly built. The stereo type of large men is that they are confident,
loud, and even boisterous. As the reader learns of Levin s love for Kitty, their opinion soon
changes. Indirect characterization shows that Levin is actually a humble man. When thinking of
Kitty and her feelings for him, Levin s thoughts said, He heard that women often did care for ugly
and ordinary men, but he did not believe it (39). Levin believes

Economics and the Problem of Utility Maximization
Within the field of economics, the utility maximization problem represents an attempt to quantify
the rationale used when consumers attempt to maximize the satisfaction, or utility, they derive
from the purchase of goods. With the typical predetermined budgetary restriction imposed on the
process, consumers must balance their own limited funds against their desire to obtain certain
items. This means that the eventual level of utility received from all potential affordable
packages, and thus the consumer s optimal choices, can be expressed via the equation x(p, w),
where p is equal to a good s price and w is equal to the consumer s wealth. The price of any given
product must be considered during any attempt to answer the utility maximization problem,
because if , then u must be continuous and no goods can be obtained free of charge (McEachern,
2010). In other words, because the two rules dictating the boundaries of utility maximization within
a two good model clearly state that the marginal utilities per dollar must be equal and the consumer
s entire budget must be exhausted, the inclusion of goods which can be obtained free of charge
skews any conclusions regarding the consumer s eventual utility. A good which costs nothing will
always provide more immediate happiness than one which costs money, and this fact prohibits
economists from effectively modeling any two good comparisons between free and for cost items.
As is typically the case for economics, however, simple

The Noise Of Sound Waves Through Instruments And How The...
Introduction
Music takes up a large part of our lives, most people listen to it almost every day. It is one of the
only medians between People from completely different walks of life, connecting us all through
major symphonies or just beautifully simple chords. Though many people enjoy the emotion filled
sound that travel to their eardrums, most do not know exactly why. People also do not know
why they dislike some musical sounds. I am very curious as to why there are melodies
considered good or bad. Just as most people, I listen to music on the daily basis. I am also invested
in learning how to play the electric guitar which influences my interest in this topic greatly. I want
to find out why exactly different chords are considered either harmonic or discordant by looking
into the consonance and dissonance in music. In my research on this topic, I will focus mainly on
the emission of sound waves through instruments and how the notes come together. Sound travels
as a transverse wave which means it takes the same shape as sine waves, in mathematics. These
waves are used to produce different volume, frequencies, and timbre in instruments. In music, sound
waves have different frequencies which change the in pitch of notes, and different amplitudes,
which change the volume of notes.
Since I will be focusing on the changing of frequencies in notes, I will represent these changes by
modeling different chords, and notes by using sine waves. This will allow me to demonstrate how

Definition Of Homeless Youth
There are more than 1.6 million adolescents experiencing homelessness annually in the U.S.
(Casetellanos, 2016; Rosario, et al., 2012; Schmitz Tyler, 2014). Based on national estimates, this is
roughly 5% of the population (Rosario et al., 2012). The definition of homelessness is rather
ambiguous which contributes to such discretion when working with the homeless population.
Often, the terms homeless and runaway are used interchangeably in research studies on homeless
youth. However, running away is considered episodic whereas homelessnessis a longterm
circumstance (Schmitz Tyler, 2014). For the purpose of this study, homelessness is defined in it
s broadest terms: individuals who are experiencing residential instability or vulnerability;
individuals who are doubled up with friends, family, or sexual partners; individuals living in a
place not meant for human habitation; and individuals living in emergency shelter or transitional
housing (Castellanos, 2016; HUD Definition of Homeless , 2012; Rosario, et al., 2012). Lesbian,
gay, and bi sexual youth compose 15 36% of homeless youth despite composing only 1.3 3.8% of
the general youth population (Rosario et al., 2012). This wide margin of error is typical amongst
stigmatized groups such as the LGBTQ population because there is still a legitimized fear of
disclosing one s genderidentity or sexual orientation(Ream Forge, 2014). LGBT youth face higher
risk of mental health problems, substance use, and sexual risk

Wireless Sensor Network ( Wsn )
Wireless sensor network From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia A wireless sensor network
(WSN) is a computer network consisting of spatially distributed autonomous devices using
sensors to cooperatively monitor physical or environmental conditions, such as temperature,
sound, vibration, pressure, motion or pollutants, at different locations.[1] The development of
wireless sensor networks was originally motivated by military applications such as battlefield
surveillance. However, wireless sensor networks are now used in many civilian application
areas, including environment and habitat monitoring, healthcare applications, home automation,
and traffic control.[1][2] In addition to one or more sensors, each node in a sensor network is
typically equipped with a radio transceiver or other wireless communications device, a small
microcontroller, and an energy source, usually a battery. The size a single sensor node can vary
from shoebox sized nodes down to devices the size of grain of dust.[1] The cost of sensor nodes
is similarly variable, ranging from hundreds of dollars to a few cents, depending on the size of the
sensor network and the complexity required of individual sensor nodes.[1] Size and cost constraints
on sensor nodes result in corresponding constraints on resources such as energy, memory,
computational speed and bandwidth.[1] In computer science, wireless sensor networks are an active
research area with numerous workshops and conferences arranged each year.

Argumentative Essay On The Fault In Our Stars
That s the thing about pain. It demands to be felt. In Indianapolis, poor Hazel Grace Lancaster
has to go through that every day. Hazel has Thyroid cancer and it affects her everyday life.
However, when Gus came into her life, her view on the world changed forever. John Green, the
author of The Fault In Our Stars, uses dialogue to elaborate on the theme of being there for
someone through the good and bad moments. Throughout the book, Hazel and Gus show that
sometimes just being there for each other could mean the world to them, even when there are no
words needing to be said. For example, Gus and Hazel s conversationon the phone after their first
date. In the text it states Okay, he said. I gotta go to sleep. It s almost one. Okay, I said. Okay, he
said. I giggled and said, Okay. And then the line was quiet but not dead. I almost felt like he was
there in my room with me, but in a way, it was better, like I was not in my room and he was not
in his, but instead, we were together in some invisible and tenuous third space that could only be
visited on the phone. Okay, he said after forever. Maybe okay will be our always. Okay, I said.
(Green 72 73) As mentioned previously, you don t have to have conversations to be there for
someone. This shows that they are perfectly fine together, even when there are no words needing
to be said. Also, when you have devotedness tord someone that much just knowing that you are
sincere and ready to talk to anytime, anywhere, is incredible. Near the end of the book, Gus had
died from cancer and a funeral was held. Doleful Hazel arrived and this is what happened... As I
knelt, I realized they d closed his eyes of course they had and that I would never again see his blue
eyes. I love you present tense, I whispered and then put my hand in the middle of his chest and
said, It s okay, Gus.It s okay. It is. It s okay, you hear me? I had and have absolutely no confidence
that he could hear me. I leaned forward and kissed his cheek. Okay, I said. Okay. (Green 270)
This piece of text shows that even when Gus was lifeless, she was still there for him by saying
Okay .Although she was in great distress, she stood with courage. By saying Okay. she, in a

The Human Body And All The Organ System
The human body is in a constant state of movement even when seemingly still. This constant
movement is crucial for the human body and all the organ systems it contains. Movement although
overlooked is more complicate than many would believe. The human body has many functions
which are maintained by the movement of muscles and blood, as well as other bi products of the
organ systems. The Integumentary, Cardiovascular, and Tissue systems are capable of movement
both internal and external allowing for the continuous cycle that keeps the human body functioning.
The most important system that relies on movement is the Cardiovascular system. The
Cardiovascular system is mainly composed of the heart, blood vessels, and about 5.5 liters of
blood. ()The system itself is constantly moving, internally and externally.() The heart itself is a
muscular pumping organ that helps with the transport of oxygen and waste via the blood system.
() Specifically the pulmonary circulation, composed of the right atrium and ventricle, is primarily
used to transport deoxygenated blood from the right side of the heart to the lungs in which the
blood is filled with oxygen, returning to the heart and then transported by the systemic
circulation, composed of the left atrium and ventricle, which carries the blood to the rest of the
body. ()The systemic circulation also carries waste away from the tissue and carries deoxygenated
blood back to the heart.() Blood vessels are also a part of this process because

she shot for a cover page of a travel magazine, Conde Nast Traveller. Though the cover page is
not obscene, the reason of her being in the middle of the controversy is the top she is wearing

The Seven Miracles Of Christ Essay
Introduction
Throughout the New Testament are recounts of the miracles that Jesus performed to give proof
that He was indeed the Son of God and the Messiah foretold of in the Old Testament. John chose to
recount only seven of the many miracles that Jesus performed. He felt that these seven, more than
any of the others, showed definitive proof that the Messiah, the Son of God, had come as promised.
The First Miracle John 2:1 11
The first of the seven miracles that John recounts is the turning of water into wine. John notes that
this miracle marks the beginning of Jesus signs to His disciples and the world. Jesus and his mother
are invited to a wedding during which the hosts run out of wine. When the servants come to Mary

Jesus initial response seems somewhat hard and insensitive to me, but as Laney notes He is
addressing the Jewish people in general and the fact that they have a need to see signs to justify
their faith. (Laney, 1992, p.102)
The nobleman asks Jesus again to come and save his son. Jesus tells the man that he can go home;
that his son will live. Now, what I find interesting is that the nobleman didn t even question Jesus or
continue begging him to come with him. The nobleman simply left to go home believing that what
Jesus had said was true. There is no mention anywhere in the Gospel of John of this man or how he
knew of Jesus. It makes sense to me that the nobleman must have witnessed one of Jesus thereby
reinforcing his faith in Him. The illness that afflicted the nobleman s son shows us how weak,
frail and mortal we are. Jesus healing of the man s son shows us that we can be healed of our sins
but only through Him are we saved. He shows that we can have eternal life through Him.
The Third Miracle John 5:1 18 When Jesus goes to Jerusalem He finds there a man who is lame,
an invalid. This man tells Jesus that he is unable to get to the pool by the sheep gate where the
waters can heal him. Jesus could tell that the man had been sick for a very long time; thirty eight
years according to John. So, He asked the man if he wanted to get well. Thinking

The Eclogues Of Virgil Are Singularly Pastoral
The Eclogues of Virgil are undeniably pastoral. They are flush with idyllic imagery of countryside
scenery, animals and abundant greenery, shepherds tending to their flock the simplicity of a life
most intimately intertwined with the natural world. In English Pastoral Poetry, Sir William Empson
describes pastoralwriting as a method of putting the complex into the simple (22). Through
idealized and vivid lines, Virgilattests to the greatness of the everyday desserts of life, the song of
a woodman pruning the trees , the cool of the shade , and the vine on the leafy elm (7). Examining
further, however, one can observe political, personal, and religious allegories that lay beyond the
surface of each Eclogue particularly in Eclogue... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Meliboeus comes upon Tityrus, another shepherd, who is contrastingly content and without worry.
Tityrus explains to Meliboeus that after travelling to Rome and meeting a young man, who has
widely been presumed to be the Roman emperor Augustus, he has obtained definitive ownership
of his land and need not worry about it being repurposed into housing for discharged soldiers.
Meanwhile, Tityrus, the shepherd whom many have speculated to be representative of Virgil,
basks in his freedom and love for Augustus, a god [who] gave [him] this peace (3). Prior to his
travels to Rome, Tityrus suffered in a relationship with the greedy Galatea, in which freedom was a
concept unknown to him. His transformation from enslavement to liberation is found through a
fusion of urban (Rome) and rural (Arcadia) instances, thus confirming the pastoral element of Virgil
to be only complete in this Eclogue when observing similarities and differences between the
intricate and the simplistic. Within this employment of the pastoral mode, of its indulgent language
and both its conventional and unconventional themes, a light is shone on the poet, Virgil himself,
that illuminates the facets of his political and personal thought subtly implemented in the First
Eclogue. While he lived comfortably in his home on the coast of Northern Italy, his acquaintances

economy, changes in immigrant communities, as well as scientific research on social emotional,
physical and cognitive development of students. Changes in teaching style trends have also been

determine best practices. Do best practices differ according to the demographics the public school is
serving? How big of a role does each factor play in curriculum and teacher training? I also want to
focus on the current use of Professional Learning Communities and the requirement of
Professional Development. How have these newer practices changed the effectiveness of
teaching? In Early Childhood we have always had to fulfill Professional Development
requirements in order to maintain or upgrade Early Childhood Credential Permits. How new is the
requirement for Professional Development for multi subject teachers in maintaining their

changing educational needs of our population; or if the state has had to play catch up at some
points in time. Are we alone in the challenges we

The article written by ESPN reporter Jemele Hill explores the tumultuous story of Chris Webber
and the University of Michigan. Chris Webber was a basketball star in the early nineties at the
University of Michigan and was a major contributor to the university reaching the NCAA
championship game two years in a roll. After his career at Michigan, allegations were raised and
then founded that Webber received thousands of dollars from than booster Ed Martin while
attending Michigan. The receiving of these benefits is a violation of NCAA rules per NCAA by

Jimmy King believed that Webber s actions hurt many people that had nothing to do with Ed
Martin. We have seen now over the years these types of situations arise before this incident Luther
Campbell and the University of Miami, Sherwood Blount and Southern Methodist University. After
this event Mike Ornstein and the University of Southern California. There are others as well, and
there will likely be more in the future. Boosters due to the many they give to the school are given
access to the institution and players sometimes in good faith. Some boosters take advantage of this
to what they feel as helping the recruiting process by offer money and gifts. The institutions must
have control over the supporters access to student athletes to avoid violation of NCAA rules.
However, the question is whether we can solve these issues through financial reimbursement for
student athletes. The issue is due to all student athletes get paid or just sports that generate massive
amounts of revenue like football and college basketball. Is it morally correct for a football player to
receive money from a golf player? They are both student athletes and may be facing the same
financial hardships. I do not believe that that is correct nor fair. I think if you pay one student
athletes they all should receive money. But, also the question arises whether having received a
free education is not enough and does the payment of players break the amateur status of student
athletes. A tough topic and there is a solution here somewhere. However, in the regard on whether
Chris Webber owes the university an apology, I would say yes at least an apology to all those his

Explain Why Does Nancy Have To Do Autopsies Very Quickly...
1. Explain the importance of the reference to Monet s women friends ? Monet s women friends

Constitutional Right to Privacy and the Us Patriot Act...
Privacy Essay
Privacy. What do you think the average American would say if you told them they have no
Constitutional Right to Privacy, as privacy is never mentioned anywhere in the Constitution? That
the information they share over the World Wide Web has little if any protection by or from the
government. Of course our government is hard at work to modernize the form of weeding out the
unsanitary to which some cenacles might call censorship. But the main question still stands, do we
have a right to privacy and is the government violating our natural freedoms, or do we need
someone to monitor the actions of our society to keep order. The question is as old as government;
to what extent should the government influence our lives. When you ... Show more content on

This is a very debatable topic and many parents have different grounds for the extent of their child s
privacy. Some children are monitored by their parents, correcting every mistake and punishing
every misjudgment. Other parents promote more of a free spirit and trust, to teach their child
independence and develop experiences. Two are differing theories of parenting and both are
different theories of government. One assumes that humans are naturally reasonable creatures and
the other that humans are naturally emotionally driven and unreliable. So the question then goes to
nature or nurture, and are humans reasonable or erratic? So we assume that man is a combination
of both good and evil, and in doing so we assume that some level of privacy is in order but also the
government must control those who diverge from the law. The question then

arises, to what degree should citizens be left to themselves and what degree should they be
monitored? The two extrema of this argument include the State of Nature, which has been
previously described, and what is also known as the Big Brother structure. The idea that if man
were molded to be perfect from birth, they would in turn live perfect lives is an idea that has been
philosophized, debated, and dreamed of for generations of intellectuals. In almost every theorized
Utopia, there has been a certain level of censorship. Censorship in these hypothetical societies exists

Academy Awardss
This past Sunday we were all invited to watch the 88th Academy Awards from behind our
television screens. Otherwise known as The Oscars, this award ceremony is presented by the
Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences with the purpose of commemorating those who
have displayed exceptional acting skills this past year in the film industry. However, this year, the
Academy Awards have been synonymous with the hashtag Oscars So White, which ultimately,
sheds light on the lack of minority representation in all twenty nomination categories. Outraged,
well known actors and the public demand for a more equal representation of all races to be
considered for Academy Awards. In this paper, I will be discussing how David Cox s article in

Dr. Ruiz defines interpersonal discrimination to be actions taken by individuals or small groups to
deny something to members of an out group (Lecture, Ruiz, 02/25/2016). In Cox s article, he
mentions how other minority groups such as Latinos, Asian Americans, or Hispanics have secured
nominations. (Cox, 2). Cox also states that there is this universal appeal for using white actors in
films (Cox, 2). The lack of diversity is astonishing and poorly reflects the diversity The Academy
strives for. To further illustrate this discrimination, Keegan, Poindexter, and Whipp addressed the
membership requirements for Academy voters. Their article states that changing the dominantly
white, male voting population was impossible to reach because of the academy s stringent
membership requirements and the underrepresentation of women and minorities in the
entertainment industry (Keegan, Poindexter, Whipp, 2). This same article had a quote from New
York critic Andrew Gruttadaro who said that no black peopledeserved a nomination. (Keegan,
Poindexter Whipp, 2). Gruttadaro openly excluded black actors because of their acting skills.
Because the film industry is comprised of white males, it is not a surprise to see individuals of
their same race dominating the nominations. Actors and actresses are not the only ones where this
discrimination is

Benjamin Franklin And The Education Of Youth
Benjamin Franklin observed in 1747, It has long been regretted as a misfortune to the youth of this
province that we have no academy in which they might receive the accomplishment of a regular
education, instead of just perceiving that fact and being disappointed, Franklin decided to act. He
noted that Massachusetts had Harvard, established 1636, and Virginia claimed William and Mary,
established 1693, he did not want Pennsylvaniato fall behind. This prompted him to write an
anonymous pamphlet in 1747 entitled, Proposals relating to the Educationof Youth in Pennsylvania.
The pamphlet argued for the necessity of a college and urged concerned citizens to donate money
toward it. It was not until Franklin wrote his autobiography that the world knew it was he who
wrote Proposals relating to the Education of Youth in Pennsylvania. Franklin was shifting gears
during this time of his life. He was forty three years old, a wealthy printer, but he retried, tackling
non commercial pursuits like science, politics, and education. This is when he observed that lack of
higher education available in Pennsylvania. He longed to open a school for boys that would teach
them the practical skills needed in their future endeavors. He stated, Students preparing for the
ministry or medicine would study classical languages, while those becoming merchants would
focus upon living languages. In addition, Franklin hoped that all students would learn practical
skills, including planting and

Then on October 14, 1878 he filed his first patent application for improvement in electric lights.
Then again on November 4, 1879 he filed another patent for an electric lamp using a carbon

methods for a filament using cotton and linen thread. He also used wood splints, papers coiled
in various ways. Several months after the patent was passed Edison and his team discovered
bamboo filament and it lasted over 1200 hours. From 1878 1880 Edison and his associates
worked on at least 3,000 different theories. The way it worked was it made light by using
electricity to heat a thin strip of material called a filament until it gets hot enough to glow. It was
made with a filament housed in a glass vacuum bulb. Thomas had a glassblowing shed that is
where he made the bulbs. The goal was to use less electricity than the arc lamp. In 1879, he
created his first ever high resistance incandescent electric light. The way it worked would it passed
electricity through a thin platinum filament in the glass vacuum. Which that kept the filament from
melting. The reason it didn t work is because it only lasted a few hours. Even though it was closer
to the light bulb used today there was still a few improvements to be

All for One and One for All in the Declaration of...
The Declaration of Independence was authenticated on July 4, 1776, and, within a short span of
time, fifty six men signed the document. The Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions was
written in 1848, over seventy years later. It was almost a mirror image of its predecessor, as Stanton
et al strategically used the outline of the previous document to establish credibility and make her
argument stronger by referencing the Declaration of Independence which was so widely known
and accepted. Both of these documents were written very skillfully, containing a very strong use of
language and almost identical structures, and greatly impacted the people they pertained to, but the
Declaration of Independence had stronger implications. The... Show more content on

This surge of emotion then follows through into the conclusion. It clearly and directly states the
ultimatum it intends to fulfill. The conclusion is in a way restating the goals of the document and
emphasizes the importance of what it aims to do. This conclusion is directed not just at the British,
but also the rest of the world, informing it of the intentions of the colonies. These intentions are
presented in a list, ranging from absolv[ing] from all Allegiance to the British Crown to hav[ing]
full Power (U.S. 1776). The list progresses in a specific manner, starting with what the colonies
must do first and moving on to the following goals that can only be reached if the preceding one is
accomplished. The final touch that really strengthens the Declaration of Independence is the
signatures that follow the conclusion of the document, giving the argument its credibility. The
Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions is only slightly different from the Declaration of
Independence, and the structural pattern that it follows makes it almost as powerful as its parent .
The minor changes that occur in this document emphasize some of the points that were missed by
the Declaration of Independence . Its introduction is almost the same, save for the addition of a
few significant words, and women between all men and are created equal , and the replacement of

Crime And Punishment In The Elizabethan Era
During Queen Elizabeth s rule, the poor were in a plight where they were both mistreated and in
need of economic support which Elizabeth provided as well as corrected the mistreatment of the
poor. In Crime and Punishment in the Elizabethan Era punishments were usually reserved for
criminals who broke a law. The homeless and beggars, however, regardless of why they are
homeless were abused. They were rounded up by constables who tried them before a court and
they were whipped until they left town or they might have been placed in stocks to be publicly
humiliated. This blatant abuse of the poor did not stay throughout the entirety of Elizabeth s reign
as in Elizabethan Class System a law was passed that legally distinguished the differences

Difference Between Thanks And Apologies
For a long time, the good behaviors have become a standard in appreciating the human personality.
Thanks and apologies are one of the manifestations of a culture, politeness in social relations.
When thanks and apologies are showed honestly, on one hand reflects the qualities of the
individual. On the other hand they can help people understand each other more easily. In many
cases, thanks or apologies not only bring joy to recipients, but also clear away the problems,
troubles, so that people live more altruistic.

Some people apologize and correct a mistake; other people don t. Saying thanks or sorry is a matter
of awareness, showing civilized behavior. Saying thanks and apologies expresses the best qualities
and education level of the person.
But nowadays, thanks and apologies tend to decrease in social communication. In a lot of cases,
some people ask for directions but forgot to thank. Many of you think it s their jobs, but you forget
that they help you, it is necessary for you.
Many people argue that the cause of this situation is since the standards of behavior are not tight
or industrial lifestyle makes us changes ... But still one more reason, it is a habit. Often only
children sorry or thanks parents. And younger people sorry and thanks older people, but many
older people do not pay attention to do that. In social interaction, especially in public, the adults
older people rarely say sorry or thank. Whether they were helped or their behavior annoying to
others. The children don t hesitate to say sorry or thank, but the habit seems to be lost with the
adults. The children say thank you and apologize not only through the lessons in class, teachings of
parents, but also to learn directly through the example of the

Notes On The Fight Against Retroviruses
Antiretrovirals Have New Found Eses in the Fight Against Retroviruses
Diana Bilow
22 October 2014
Retroviruses are a specific type of virus that carry their genetic blueprint in the form of RNA as
opposed to DNA like all other cellular organisms and viruses. They contain a unique enzyme
known as reverse transcriptase that reverses the process of DNA transcription by turning RNA
into DNA and the reverse transcriptase allows it to disguise itself permanently into the DNA
genome of an infected cell (Encyclopedia Britannica, 2014). Retroviruses are responsible for certain
strains of leukemia, HIV, multiple sclerosis, one strain of Hepatitis in humans, and even the
common cold all. The retroviruses multiply and then attack the immune system ... Show more

The inhibitors used in HIV are reverse transcriptase (RT) inhibitors, protease inhibitors, fusion
inhibitors, and integrase inhibitors (2014, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease).
Biologists and pharmacists have gotten the combination of these antiretrovirals down to a science
and they are currently helping thousands of people live with HIV. We are at a point with science
that antiretroviral drugs take a key role in the global effort to control the symptoms of HIV (Karim
Karim 2012). However there is new research that shows that antiretrovirals may not only help
donate towards the cure of retroviruses but can be used to prevent them in the first place,
particularly in cases of heterosexual partners and mother to child transmission.
Human Immunodeficiency Virus or HIV is a main focus of many scientists when researching and
testing antiretrovirals, largely because of the 25 million people it has killed since 1981. HIV is
transmitted through certain bodily fluids like semen, blood, rectal fluids, vaginal fluids, and
breast milk. The average of people infected with HIV is upwards of 50,000 every year (AIDS.gov,
2012). It is most often contracted by sex with someone who already has HIV and sharing needles,
but can also be transmitted through occupational hazards and even through organ transplants. There
are currently 33.4 million people in the world living with HIV, according to the World

Very high indexes of demand in London are mostly caused by several components, such as:

London is considered to be one of the most desirable cities to work and live in (Kollewe, 2014).
One of the reasons of this indicator is connected with В«best jobs and economic opportunities .

Jane Addams is recognized as a social and political pioneer for women in America. In her
biography, which later revealed her experiences in Hull House, she demonstrates her altruistic
personality, which nurtured the poor and pushed for social reforms. Although many of Addams
ideas were considered radical for her time, she provided women with a socially acceptable way to
participate in both political and social change. She defied the prototypical middle class women by
integrating the line that separated private and political life. Within these walls of the settlement
house, Addams redefined the idea of ?separate spheres,? and with relentless determination, she ...

More and more women were becoming teachers during this period, and it was continuously
being associated as a female entity. Women were allowed to engage in certain social affairs.
Although this did not include fighting for the reduction of labor hours or the elimination of child
labor, it did encompass helping the poor, which was the immediate motive behind establishing
Hull House. Reaching out to women who needed a place to stay, or workers who could not
afford to live in the crowded and unsanitary apartments that usually stuffed several families in one
room, could find shelter in Addam?s creation. However, Addams worked extended beyond the
?private sphere? in too many areas to ignore. Her struggle led to many social and political
reforms; she took a very radical political stance for her time, breaking her association from the
standard middle class women.
Hull House was unique in the sense that it held a position in both the public and private spheres of
society. Within the private sphere, women in the Addam?s settlement house ran the household,
raised children, taught about the necessity of morals, and preached about religion. In addition, Hull
House members offered assistance to their community, which later encompassed the realm of the
private sphere. Such actions included teaching, daycare, art galleries, and libraries. ??Hull House in

The National Hockey League Is lucky, in a Way What was once a major issue, fighting has taken
care of itself. The fighting has dropped majorly, to the point that only time hockey fights are

more rules and regulations to end this fighting. Many of the fans will miss the fights, because
they enjoyed seeing the players leaving it all on the ice. They began to make it illegal because
too many people were getting hurt. As many of the NHL fans have realized that the number of
fights per the 2015 2016 season has gone down nearly 40% and in the previous years they had

  • 2. Tall Tree Story Once upon a time, in the Tall Tree Forest, Danny the Bear and Timothy the Turtle were playing hide and seek by their favorite tree. It was Danny s turn to hide. He began to search the forest for the perfect place. Timothy counted down from 15. Then there were 13 seconds. Soon enough, Danny had 10 seconds to hide. Little did he know that his motherwas hurdling toward him. The time was up and Thomas began to seek. Danny was ecstatic. The forest was silent except for Timothy s steps and a sudden... Danny! Oh, Danny! Yes, Mother? What have I told you about hanging around that Turtle? I don t understand, Timothy is my best friend! Why can t you let us be friends? My sweet Danny, Tommy is a turtle. As they entered the Bear s home, smoke was firing out of Mrs. Bear s ears, and finally, she began to raise her voice. What did I tell you Danny? Timothy knew exactly what was going on. Mrs. Bear, I do believe that you are making a deal about nothing. A bear and a turtle just want to be friends, it s as simple as that. I think you need to understand that there is nothing bad about us being friends. Species does not matter. Excuse you, I am the mother and I can do whatever I please. If I was a bear, you would let us be friends, and I don t see anyone telling you not to be friends with Mrs. Tiger or the Monkey family. Mrs. Bear started to turn red and the only thing on her mind was how she was going to respond; but she didn t. The next day, the Bear family loaded the last of their boxes onto the moving truck and wiped the tears from their loved ones. Timothy was sad that they were moving, but he felt satisfied that Mrs. Bear is allowing Danny to have more friends. And everyone lived happily ever after. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The American Dreamer Case Study craft. The situation with the weather in the air was even worse. Battered by the winds and confused by an overly complex flight plan, the inexperienced pilots transporting Allied airborne forces became mixed up in the darkness and strayed from their courses. Out of the 144 gliders carrying British paratroops to landing zones, only 12 paratroopers landed on the targeted spot, while 69 crashed into the sea and the rest dispersed over a wide ranging area. In the American division, Colonel Gavin s 3,400 paratroopers were even more widely scattered. Gavin landed twenty five miles southeast of his intended drop zone. The wide dispersion of paratroopers seriously jeopardized the invasion plan by weakening the buffer these men were supposed to form. Because of their previous conditions, the men of the 82d Airborne went right to work wherever chance landed them. They Operated in small, isolated groups, the paratroopers created great confusion in Axis rear areas, attacking patrols and cutting their communication lines.... Based upon the reported airborne drops, Guzzoni correctly assumed that the Allies intended to come ashore in the southeast, and he issued orders to that effect on July 10th, about an hour before the first assault wave hit the beach. Nevertheless, the weak and poorly equipped Italian coastal units hardly put up a fight. By the end of the first day the British were firmly ashore and well on their way toward Augusta, having walked into Syracuse virtually unchallenged. Resistance was not much stronger in the American zone, and the Seventh Army had little trouble moving ashore despite erratic air and artillery ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Financial Crisis And Its Effects On Economic Growth The late half of 1997 and the early parts of 1998 presented the world with one of the world s most famous financial crises. This financial crisis proved to be detrimental mainly to the south eastern Asian area, including South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Indonesia. The aforementioned south eastern states recorded astounding economic growth in the preceding decade. The downfall of the economy caused a domino effect in the local markets and currency markets of each country. The nations leaders, as a result, had to request assistance from the IMF. Politics were important in creating the financial boom, but they were also guilty of the subsequent consequences. Similar to a number of financial crises in the past, the Asian financial crisiscame to be as a result of unexpected economic growth. The countries were all under the influence of a number of different economic criteria, such as cheap yet fairly well educated labour, lowered barriers to trade, and economies based heavily on exports. Even Malaysiaenjoyed bountiful foreign direct investment. All of these elements came together to make Asia dominant force in exports. This was proven by the fact that none of the countries affected by the crisis experienced of export growth lower than 12% between 1990 and 1996. Not only did these countries experience rapid growth in exports, the nature of the exports where product types are concerned also changed. The products evolved from simple products like ... • 6. Make Me Like A Well Watered Garden MAKE ME LIKE A WELL WATERED GARDEN It was the spring of 1980. My husband Ken and I had been in our first pastorate in the San Joaquin Valley of California, known as the nation s Garden Spot , for almost a year. During the summer of 79, several of our church members had generously shared with us the fruits of their labors in their gardens and it seemed that everyone had a garden. Thus, when the spring of 1980 arrived, I, who never liked working in the dirt; I, who would rather wash, starch and iron shirts than dig in a flower bed or weed a garden, decided we should have a vegetable garden. The former pastor had two BIG ONES so surely, with the help of my pastor husband, who was reared on the farm, we could have a lovely garden that would produce enough vegetables to feed us through what Californians refer to as winter. Being the submissive wife that I was, I asked Ken what I needed to do first. He borrowed a tiller (whatever that is) and began to prepare the soil for seeding. All the weeds were cleared away, so that nothing was left but beautiful rich, brown dirt. Then he made these little indentations, called furrows, down through the freshly plowed dirt and smoothed it all out to perfection. Then I had to do the REAL work I dropped the seeds in those little furrows. He came along behind me, covered the seeds with dirt, patted it down just so, and then watered the entire plot. I was so proud! I had planted a garden! About three days later I said to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Inquisitorial and Adversary System Supporters of the adversary system believe it is the best justice system in the world to balance the rights of the individuals against the community s expectations that people who break society s laws will be punished. There are many strengths of the adversary system. Party control is the first strength of the system. The parties are in control of their own destinies. That is, they must prepare and present their own cases and accept the responsibility for the consequences. This is an extension of the basic democratic principle. Truth and conflicting interests is another strength. By giving the parties control over their own affairs, it is more likely that great truths will energy from the powerful conflicting arguments . Equality... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This right was introduced centuries ago in medieval England to protect uneducated peasants from incriminating themselves when accused of crimes by the Lord of the manor. It is difficult to defend the rule with a universally literate and educated populace. Many observers contend that defendants should be forced to give evidence so that the judge or jury can make up their own observations of the defendant s version of events. Accessibility is another possible reform. Significant reforms need to be considered to make the court system more accessible to ordinary people. They could include increasing legal aid funding, allowing acquitted persons to recover their legal and court costs from the state and setting stricter guidelines and limits on legal costs. The jury is seen as the ultimate protection of the people against potentially oppressive power of the state. Randomly selected jurors are actively involved in the administration of justice after an agent of the state has made a criminal allegation against an individual. The reasons for a jury verdict are intentionally kept secret by law and because this is done here is very little public scrutiny of the effectiveness of the jury system. The reason I believe that juries should be compelled to give reasons for their verdicts is that a person who is about to lose their freedoms from a jury conviction should be entitles to know the reason to be sure the verdict was based on law and sound logic. An accused person could have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Maybe the one who truly loves dogs will know about these. There is no exactly record about how dogs came into our lives, but dogs have worked for human for the last ten to twenty thousand years. Although many dogs work for human, it is not ethical to treat every kind of animals as property. The animals are first independent living things, then they are workers for human. Just like human, none of the employers would treat their employees as property, because every one of us is equal. Working for someone does not mean that we are worse than anyone else. One of our misunderstanding to animals is that we always think we are better than animals mentally, but in fact, animals can feel, sense, and think more than human. When I think about the ones that have had the lasting impacts of my view of effective leadership, they all have one characteristic in common, humility. I believe to be an effective leader you should understand that you will not always be right and you will not always have all the answers. My definition of leadershipis simple; I believe that one s ability to influence others is the most accurate test of their capacity to lead. Although there varying characteristics of effective leaders such as courage, loyalty, intelligence, or humility etc. It s how that leader utilizes those characteristics to identify and capitalize on others strengths. • 10. Changes In One Hundred Years Of Solitude Marquez One Hundred Years of Solitude Essay A setting in a book can change a character s moods, thoughts and feelings. It can affect their choices and behaviors, changing them over time. These changes are seen in the book One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel GarcГa MГЎrquez. In this story the Buendia family live in a town, named Macondo. They had many adventures in the story and generation after generation have had a lot of kids. Then at the end of the story Aurelino, one of the characters from the story, find these parchments, and as he reads further into them, a storm which gets bigger and bigger, eventually wiped out macondo from existence. At this point Fernanda and Aurelino are married and have a daughter named Meme. Aurelino isn t in her life but soon tried to grow a close bond with her. Then Meme when she becomes a teenager goes out to drink. Fernanda asks what happened, then Amaranta was startled by the obvious burden of hate that the declaration carried (Marquez 272). Then Meme meets a boy, causing Fernanda to be too overprotective and asked a mayor to put a guard at her house, lying that her hens were being stolen. Then when Mauricio Babilonia came to see Meme, a bullet lodged in his spinal column reduced him to his bed for the rest of his life. He sided of old age in solitude (Marquez 285). When Amaranta tells Fernanda she was startled by the obvious burden of hate in her, this shows how much having Meme changed her. She went from a leader to a hateful mother and knowing Amaranta is a soulless, hateful person herself, it is obvious she can detect it in Fernanda. Also, it s obvious how Fernanda has changed because when she found out about Meme and Mauricio, she was furious. She was so mad that she was willing to put a guard at her house and have a bullet lodged in his spinal column reduced him to his head for the rest of his life and eventually killing him at old age. She was willing to put up a guard and lie that she thinks her hens were being stolen, even though she knew Mauricio would die. Fernanda goes to the trouble to murdering him, even though she knows how upset Meme, her own daughter, would be. In general, this shows how at the beginning of the book she believed in becoming queen made her a leader who wanted to make a change, but her behavior changed when she had a child, and she became a hateful ... • 11. Analysis Of George Bernard Shaw s Pygmalion Social standing is central to the plot of George Bernard Shaw s play Pygmalion . The portrayal of class identity in Shaw s play appears to be a criticism of the distinctions between high society and the poorer classes in Victorian England. Shaw s aim was to portray how the upper crust of Victorian society viewed the lower classes, as evidenced by Higgins treatment of Eliza upon her first visit to his laboratory; Higgins treats her as though she is too stupid to understand that he is insulting her. The assumption is that the wealthy view the lower classes as being somehow lesser. So what is it that Shaw is trying to impart upon the reader? Shaw appeared to show open disdain not just for the upper class of society but for society in general, and Pygmalion may be interpreted as an open criticism of class distinctions in Victorian England. Class distinctions are made abundantly clear in Shaw s Pygmalion. Eliza is representative of Shaw s view of the English working class of the day: Crude, crass, and seemingly unintelligent yet worthy of pity. Equal criticism is leveled at the upper classes, who pass judgement upon the poor precipitated by their appearance and mannerisms. Higgins and Pickering s attitude towards Eliza is one of derision, stemming from their difference in social status. For instance, Higgins open mockery of Eliza s speech: You see this creature with her kerbstone English: the English that will keep her in the gutter to the end of her days. (Shaw. ... Horses Are Better Than Pets On July 8, 2016, Jaycee Dugard sat down for an interview with Diane Sawyer, where she mentioned that equine therapy played a role in healing her after eighteen years of captivity, but she is not the only one that realizes the therapeutic quality of horses. Over two million households own horses. Horses make great pets because they re easier to care for, are better prepared for dangerous situations, and offer numerous physical and mental advantages. In this paper, I argue that domesticated horses are better pets than dogs are. Owners can care for horses more easily than dogs. First off, horses only have one foal at a time when they breed. On the contrary, dogs can give birth to several puppies, causing the owners to stress. Puppies, being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, the child invests more effort and time into owning the horse than their parents do. Children learn more responsibility because they spend so much time cleaning, feeding, and caring for their horse. Parents have the responsibility of paying for the animal, which albeit, is an expensive task, but it is not one done in vain. With a dog, much of the responsibility can be allocated to the parents because they see dogs as another child or friend that they can pamper. Although this is beneficial for the parents, it is not teaching their children how to be responsible for live animals. Moreover, three doctors conducted a study on the effects of horseback riding in children with spastic cerebral palsy. They found that the studied children s muscle symmetry improved, rendering other stretching practices useless. Because the walking gait of a horse mimics a human s walk, the muscles in people s legs get stretched out. Physically disabled kids can learn to walk again after a traumatic event or after being born with paralysis. Even mentally disabled children or kids with autism have been shown to speak and socialize better. All children can benefit from horseback riding, not just the healthy, normal ones. Furthermore, horseback riding does not appear to be exercise, but it actually works many muscles of the core and lower body. Gargantua And Pantagruel Through numerous fruitless consulting of authority, the figure of authority is depicted as unhelpful, ignorant and self centered in the second half of the third book of Rabelais Gargantua and Pantagruel. Montaigne not only indicates similar possible problems of the authority as Rabelais does, but also provides corresponding solutions to such problems in his On Educating Children. I will argue that, basing on Montaigne s solutions, one can convert unhelpful, ignorant and self centered authorities in Gargantua and Pantagruelinto ones that are so beneficial and significant that can effectively promote learning. Still, however changed, the values of today s society remain from the period of Regency England. Regency England, being the super power of the world in the 18th century, imposed the morals and ethics upon the world as they did their own country, where people were expected to abide by. Jane Austen illustrates the values of this prejudiced society through Pride and Prejudice, which involved the role of women as a major, governing over their marriages for economic sustainability and their lack of authority. Charlotte s desperate actions executed against her will to obtain financial security exemplify the exact reason why most women initially married during the time of Regency England В– which was entirely out of the benefit of their families. The source of Charlotte s distress stems from the fact that women are unable to inherit their family s fortune unless they marry a man who can. From birth, women are thrown into a race to wed in fear of being disowned or becoming a burden to the family when the father of the household dies. Marriage, at the time, was mainly viewed as a commitment solely for the purpose of economic sustainability rather than a one of love and care. • 19. Economics and the Problem of Utility Maximization Within the field of economics, the utility maximization problem represents an attempt to quantify the rationale used when consumers attempt to maximize the satisfaction, or utility, they derive from the purchase of goods. With the typical predetermined budgetary restriction imposed on the process, consumers must balance their own limited funds against their desire to obtain certain items. This means that the eventual level of utility received from all potential affordable packages, and thus the consumer s optimal choices, can be expressed via the equation x(p, w), where p is equal to a good s price and w is equal to the consumer s wealth. The price of any given product must be considered during any attempt to answer the utility maximization problem, because if , then u must be continuous and no goods can be obtained free of charge (McEachern, 2010). In other words, because the two rules dictating the boundaries of utility maximization within a two good model clearly state that the marginal utilities per dollar must be equal and the consumer s entire budget must be exhausted, the inclusion of goods which can be obtained free of charge skews any conclusions regarding the consumer s eventual utility. A good which costs nothing will always provide more immediate happiness than one which costs money, and this fact prohibits economists from effectively modeling any two good comparisons between free and for cost items. Though many people enjoy the emotion filled sound that travel to their eardrums, most do not know exactly why. People also do not know why they dislike some musical sounds. I am very curious as to why there are melodies considered good or bad. Just as most people, I listen to music on the daily basis. I am also invested in learning how to play the electric guitar which influences my interest in this topic greatly. I want to find out why exactly different chords are considered either harmonic or discordant by looking into the consonance and dissonance in music. In my research on this topic, I will focus mainly on the emission of sound waves through instruments and how the notes come together. Sound travels as a transverse wave which means it takes the same shape as sine waves, in mathematics. These waves are used to produce different volume, frequencies, and timbre in instruments. In music, sound waves have different frequencies which change the in pitch of notes, and different amplitudes, which change the volume of notes. Since I will be focusing on the changing of frequencies in notes, I will represent these changes by modeling different chords, and notes by using sine waves. This will allow me to demonstrate how ... Based on national estimates, this is roughly 5% of the population (Rosario et al., 2012). The definition of homelessness is rather ambiguous which contributes to such discretion when working with the homeless population. Often, the terms homeless and runaway are used interchangeably in research studies on homeless youth. However, running away is considered episodic whereas homelessnessis a longterm circumstance (Schmitz Tyler, 2014). For the purpose of this study, homelessness is defined in it s broadest terms: individuals who are experiencing residential instability or vulnerability; individuals who are doubled up with friends, family, or sexual partners; individuals living in a place not meant for human habitation; and individuals living in emergency shelter or transitional housing (Castellanos, 2016; HUD Definition of Homeless , 2012; Rosario, et al., 2012). Lesbian, gay, and bi sexual youth compose 15 36% of homeless youth despite composing only 1.3 3.8% of the general youth population (Rosario et al., 2012). Wireless Sensor Network ( Wsn ) Wireless sensor network From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia A wireless sensor network (WSN) is a computer network consisting of spatially distributed autonomous devices using sensors to cooperatively monitor physical or environmental conditions, such as temperature, sound, vibration, pressure, motion or pollutants, at different locations.[1] The development of wireless sensor networks was originally motivated by military applications such as battlefield surveillance. However, wireless sensor networks are now used in many civilian application areas, including environment and habitat monitoring, healthcare applications, home automation, and traffic control.[1][2] In addition to one or more sensors, each node in a sensor network is typically equipped with a radio transceiver or other wireless communications device, a small microcontroller, and an energy source, usually a battery. The size a single sensor node can vary from shoebox sized nodes down to devices the size of grain of dust.[1] The cost of sensor nodes is similarly variable, ranging from hundreds of dollars to a few cents, depending on the size of the sensor network and the complexity required of individual sensor nodes.[1] Size and cost constraints on sensor nodes result in corresponding constraints on resources such as energy, memory, computational speed and bandwidth.[1] In computer science, wireless sensor networks are an active research area with numerous workshops and conferences arranged each year. ... Hazel has Thyroid cancer and it affects her everyday life. However, when Gus came into her life, her view on the world changed forever. John Green, the author of The Fault In Our Stars, uses dialogue to elaborate on the theme of being there for someone through the good and bad moments. Throughout the book, Hazel and Gus show that sometimes just being there for each other could mean the world to them, even when there are no words needing to be said. For example, Gus and Hazel s conversationon the phone after their first date. In the text it states Okay, he said. I gotta go to sleep. It s almost one. Okay, I said. Okay, he said. I giggled and said, Okay. And then the line was quiet but not dead. I almost felt like he was there in my room with me, but in a way, it was better, like I was not in my room and he was not in his, but instead, we were together in some invisible and tenuous third space that could only be visited on the phone. Okay, he said after forever. Maybe okay will be our always. Okay, I said. (Green 72 73) As mentioned previously, you don t have to have conversations to be there for someone. This shows that they are perfectly fine together, even when there are no words needing to be said. Also, when you have devotedness tord someone that much just knowing that you are sincere and ready to talk to anytime, anywhere, is incredible. Near the end of the book, Gus had died from cancer and a funeral was held. Doleful Hazel arrived and this is what happened... • 32. The Eclogues Of Virgil Are Singularly Pastoral The Eclogues of Virgil are undeniably pastoral. They are flush with idyllic imagery of countryside scenery, animals and abundant greenery, shepherds tending to their flock the simplicity of a life most intimately intertwined with the natural world. In English Pastoral Poetry, Sir William Empson describes pastoralwriting as a method of putting the complex into the simple (22). Through idealized and vivid lines, Virgilattests to the greatness of the everyday desserts of life, the song of a woodman pruning the trees , the cool of the shade , and the vine on the leafy elm (7). Examining further, however, one can observe political, personal, and religious allegories that lay beyond the surface of each Eclogue particularly in Eclogue... Tityrus explains to Meliboeus that after travelling to Rome and meeting a young man, who has widely been presumed to be the Roman emperor Augustus, he has obtained definitive ownership of his land and need not worry about it being repurposed into housing for discharged soldiers. Meanwhile, Tityrus, the shepherd whom many have speculated to be representative of Virgil, basks in his freedom and love for Augustus, a god [who] gave [him] this peace (3). Prior to his travels to Rome, Tityrus suffered in a relationship with the greedy Galatea, in which freedom was a concept unknown to him. His transformation from enslavement to liberation is found through a fusion of urban (Rome) and rural (Arcadia) instances, thus confirming the pastoral element of Virgil to be only complete in this Eclogue when observing similarities and differences between the intricate and the simplistic. Within this employment of the pastoral mode, of its indulgent language and both its conventional and unconventional themes, a light is shone on the poet, Virgil himself, that illuminates the facets of his political and personal thought subtly implemented in the First Eclogue. How big of a role does each factor play in curriculum and teacher training? I also want to focus on the current use of Professional Learning Communities and the requirement of Professional Development. How have these newer practices changed the effectiveness of teaching? Two are differing theories of parenting and both are different theories of government.
