Good Parenting In A Good Man Is Hard To Find
A parent s ability to properly raise a child stands as the most pivotal test in their chapter of life as
guardians. The quality of a guardians parenting skills create the foundation for the child to grow
and prosper in their lifetime as good, moral human beings. As a society, we understand that we need
to teach our children right from wrong, not talk to strangers, and to always share with others. These
just begin to break the surface of the many lessons that good parents should instill into their children
s young malleable brains. Now, just because this grand expectation of good parentingstand so
highly in society, doesn t mean they always step up to the plate and perform like they should.
Some parents in today s society do not actually... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In today s society, some unfortunate families stay stuck in a vicious cycle of crime that they can
t evade. The parents resort to a life of crime so inevitably the children follow in their parents
footsteps and live the same lifestyle. In A Good Man is Hard to Find the concept of kids learning
the wrong lessons from their parents remains quite apparent. June and John both hold tendencies to
shriek out words of pure disrespect to any person they talk to. For example, John expresses that
Tennessee is just a hillbilly dumping ground, disrespecting not only the Grandmothers opinion on
wanting to go to Tennessee, but Tennessee as a state as well. Also, June says I wouldn t live in a
broken down place like this for a million bucks! in several variations throughout the story. The kids
act and speak in this manner because they learn this from their parents and Grandmother who don t
assume the roles of good parents. In addition to disrespectfulness, the children often times behave
violently and fight with not only each other but other family members as well. On the drive to
Florida, June and John began to savagely slap each other because supposedly John doesn t play
fairly. Instead of handling it like two good, respectful children, they result in physical confrontation.
Later on, John starts to kick the back of his father s chair when

Being A Loyalist Essay
As proved today, we should clearly stay under Britain s rule. Let s not forget that being a loyalist
was very risky and unsafe. Whenever someone was a loyalist they were put into danger because
patriots were known to overreact. For example, when Thomas Hutchinson revealed he was a
loyalist, patriots burnt down his house instead of being civilized. Also, you could be imprisoned
by the patriots just for being a loyalist. The patriots felt that being a loyalist was wrong and would
imprison you just for having that opinion. Along with being imprisoned, you had to pay a huge
amount of money to get out. This goes to show that many people were afraid to be loyalists
because of the consequences and how violent the patriots were. This also shows that... Show more

They protested for taxation without representation simply because they didn t want to pay taxes,
and the protests weren t peaceful. One example of their violence is the Boston Tea Partyand The
Boston Massacre. The Boston Massacre wasn t even a massacre despite the name. This was
when some patriots started throwing snowballs at soldiers and the soldiers had to defend
themselves from the patriots, so the patriots were shot. The Boston Tea Party was when a very
small tax was placed on tea and the patriots weren t happy about that. So instead of paying the
very small tax, they went onto the tea ships and dumped the tea into the ocean. The taxes would
overall help us in the end, because they also helped with protection and a better military. For their
protests on Taxation without representation , they were protesting something that wasn t
completely true. Actually, it was false because there was representation. Each colony had
someone that could go to Parliament and speak on the colony s behalf. As for the taxes, they
were placed on all of Britain, not just the colonies, yet the patriots were not satisfied and decided
not to pay the taxes even though they were cheaper than what Britain had to pay. May I remind
you that the taxes were being placed because of the land we have. The patriots want to go to war
again which would not only result in an estimated

Isabelle Bruce Reid Research Paper
MY HERO
A hero is someone who is admired and valued for their courage, outstanding achievements, and
noble qualities. A hero to one person may not be a hero to another. I strongly agree with this
definition for a hero to a person is not always a hero to others. In saying this, my hero is Isabelle
Bruce Reid because she was the first female to qualify in Australia as a veterinarian. To me,
Isabelle Reid was a name in history who changed the world, is valued and is a great role model.
Firstly, Isabelle Bruce Reid is my hero because she changed the world for me and others, like
you. I have a strong belief of this as if she had not become the first female veterinarian, then,
today it may have been equally as difficult for others to become a vet as it was for her. If she can
achieve it, then anyone who aspires to do something, can do it as well. I believe this message is
incredibly worthwhile. As a result of it saying that anyone can do anything, it doesn t matter if
you re a male of a female, or if you have a different skin colour or nationality. I admire her
amazing accomplishments as she made the world a fair place. What would it be like without her? ...

I feel as if Isabelle Reid has inspired me to do my best. Nonetheless, Isabelle Reid strived to
achieve her best and therefore, should inspire others to do their best as she had done. For example,

and her names is a part of history. She accomplished something nobody else had at the time,

Mr Hyde Duality
Both the novel The Picture of Dorian Gray and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde support the duality of
human personality. However, Stevenson argues that one has no choice but to follow their evil
desires, where as Wilde argues that society and influence cause people to follow their desires.
Corruption of man exists in both novels, in The Picture of Dorian Gray society makes one corrupt,
but in Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde society controls evildesires that may otherwise take over one s
personality. The duality of humans has been explored by many, and both novels agree that one
has both evil and good desires. Furthermore, the novels also support the importance of
appearance as a critical part of maintaining ones good side. Human nature can be both good and
evil as Jekyll would say man is not one but two . Jekyll and Hyde show this duality by each
taking one side of Dr.Jekyll s personality. In The Picture of Dorian Gray the portrait absorbs all the
evil of Dorians actions leaving him endlessly youthful. In both cases something represents the evil
side of humans and one that represents the good. In order to for each character preserve their
positive side, they... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stevenson would argue that evil desires are intrinsic to human nature, but we should take
responsibility for them; whereas Wilde argues that one can resist temptation, but when
indulging in temptation do not admit to it. As said previously it is clear that the duality of
human nature is inevitable in Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, however Jekyll does admit to the evil he
has done as Hyde, but this is not the case with Dorian. As a result from society because Dorians
appearance so beautiful he believes that he does not have to take responsibility for his actions.
However, the novel does express that ones evil desires can be suppressed, as said by Lord Henry .
In both novels evil desires are exposed in both characters, but only Stevenson argues that one has a
choice to suppress those

Discussing Drug Legalization
Drugs are bad, mkay. That s what we ve come to learn from Mr. Mackey in South Park (Ike s
Wee Wee). While that is known, what is the best way to combat drug use in society today? It is
true the government is spending billions of dollars on the War on Drugs, but if they were to be
legalized would that be replaced with money being spent on healthcare due to drugrelated
incidents, or drug treatment programs? It is true that a large amount of crime and the prison
population are drug related offenders, but would that reduce with drug legalization or would we
not see any difference? It is true that there is the pro and con side of this debate, but if drugs
were to be legalized what sanctions should be set, if any? It is true that Portugal has
decriminalized drugs, but will their experience be a good example of what would come to be if
the US were to do the same? Both sides of the debate have a hopeful view of what will ultimately
lead us into the betterment of tomorrow. The issue regarding all drugs being legalized has many
facets with positive and negative impacts that make you question where you truly stand on this
controversial matter.
When it comes to discussing drug legalization it is important to understand why drugs were
initially criminalized and the effects they have on the individual, families and society as a whole.
Most drugs were actually once used medicinally, legally. Amphetamine was given to World War II
soldiers to combat fatigue and prescribed after the war

Night Dance Concert Report
On the evening of August 11th, the remarkable trumpeter Wadada Leo Smith, an icon of today s
free improvisation, joined the New York based quirky trio DarkMatterHalo for a concise
performance at the East River Park Amphitheater in Manhattan, followed by the charismatic Nublu
Orchestra.
The event, organized by the City Parks Foundation, was part of the annual initiative called Summer
Stage, the New York City s largest free performing arts festival.
Exhibiting a confident attitude and winning straightforwardness, Wadada Leo Smith, was in charge
of the intro, delivering resonant melodic phrases with soul and determination.
Unhurriedly and uncompromisingly, the members of the DarkMatterHalo, whose music is shaped
with abstract dark tones, sonic pollution, and unexpectedness, started to advance with bizarre vibes

The 10 year contract which Tom Hicks and his team proposed for Alex Rodriguez was one of

Research Paper On The Gospel Of John
The Gospel of John
The genius of the Apostle John resides in his ability to penetrate to the theological foundations
that undergird the events of Jesus life. He reaches to the deeper baptism and the calling of the
Twelve are doubtless presupposed, they are not actually described. Even themes central to the
Synoptics have almost disappeared: in particular, the kingdom of God or the kingdom of heaven,
so much a part of the preaching of Jesus in the Synoptic Gospels and the central theme of His
narrative parables, is scarcely mentioned as such (cf. 3:3, 5; 18:36). meaning of the events, to the
relationships of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in the work of redemption, and to the
Trinitarian love for humanity which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are fewer brief, pithy utterances, but more discourses; but even here some major discourses
found in the Synoptics (e.g. the Olivet Discourse) are not found in John. Although Jesus .Page 2
Introduction
Second, John includes a fair amount of material of which the Synoptists make no mention. All of
the material in John chapters 2 thru 4, for instance, including His miraculous transformation of
water into wine, His dialogue with Nicodemus and His ministry in Samaria, find no Synoptic
counterpart. Further, the resurrection of
Lazarus, Jesus frequent visits to Jerusalem, and His extended dialogues or dis courses in the
Temple and in various synagogues, not to mention much of His private instruction to His disciples,
are all exclusive to the Fourth Gospel.
No less striking are the forcefully presented themes that dominate John but that are largely absent
from the Synoptics. Only in John is Jesus explicitly identified with
God (1:1, 18; 20:28). Here, too, Jesus makes a series of important I am statements which are
qualified: I am the light of the world, the resurrection and the life, the good shepherd, the vine, the
living water, the way, the truth and the life. These culminate in a series of absolute (unqualified) I
AM statements that are redolent of God
Himself (cf. 6:20; 8:24, 28, 58).

Columbine Quote Analysis
Why They Did It While reading Columbine, the only thing readers can ask themselves is, Why
did they do this? The only thing a reader can do is make his/her assumption based off of the facts
given throughout the book as it is not clearly stated. By reading the book, it is very easy to
assume that both Eric and Dylan were depressed and did not feel like they were treated fairly.
Eric was the more violent of the two, although both had significant dealings with the shootings
taken place. Their illnesses brought them together, making them feel as if they clicked or
understood each other more than anyone else. Dylan is very easily identified as the most
depressed of the two. In chapter thirty five, Dylan stated just how depressed he was. I get more
depressed with each day, he complained. Why did friends keep deserting him? They did not,
actually, but Dylan perceived it that way. He fretted about Eric dumping him, too. Wanna die, he
repeated. (page 198) Dylan felt as if he was all alone and death equaled freedom to him now.
Dylan was not worried about anyone but himself and how he felt. His depression had consumed his
thoughts and made him think of the unimaginable. This very well could have been the reason
Dylan was a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His psychopathic ways showed through the tragedy of the shooting at Columbine. Eric is easily
percepted as the mastermind of the Columbine shooting. In chapter forty eight, it explains how
we can infer this by his planner. Each killer left hundreds of pages of writings and drawings and
schedules in their day planners, and Eric s are riddled with plans, logs, and results of experiments;
Dylan shows virtually no effort. Eric acquired the guns, the ammo, and apparently the material for
the bombs, and did the planning and the construction. (page 305) Eric was taken as a psychopath
for his violent ways and how he wrote in his journal. He detailed the murders out vividly and talked

Difficulties In Teaching Pronunciation
Most of English teachers tend to teach their non native students grammar rules and vocabulary, get
them to participate in communicative activities and become qualified in reading and listening. As a
result, teaching pronunciation is not taken into account due to teachers assumption of having a lot
to do rather than focusing on proper pronunciation. Apparently, they claim that students will acquire
it throughout learning. Therefore, there is no need to allocate time for teaching pronunciation.
Accordingly, ESL learners encounter many difficulties in proper pronunciation.
First, we can distinguish between accents and dialect . The former refers to the differences only in
pronunciation that may occur due to geographical differences, social and cultural differences, and
different educational background. The latter indicates the variety of a language, which differs in
things other than pronunciation such as vocabulary, grammar, and word order. We can spot some
of the factors that affect the pronunciation of ESL learners especially Arabs. Accordingly, the
interference of the learners native language and the learner s age can determine the accuracy of his
pronunciation; the younger is he the easier he will master good pronunciation. Further, the amount
of exposure to English exceeds the ability to speak native like English, especially if the learner is
living in an English speaking environment.
From my personal experience, when I was an Arab ESL language learner, my friends

The Impact of One Infectious Disease on Health , Economic...
Discuss the impact of one infectious disease on the health, economic development and lifestyle of
the area where it occurs?
An infectious disease that affects health, economic development and lifestyle is HIV/AIDS. This
disease is a pandemic that has spread over continents and all over the world. An area where this
disease has effected the most is in South Africa, this is because it s estimated that 5.6 million
people are living with HIV and AIDS.
Leading on to my next point, this has a massive effect on health due to the fact that this disease
affects the immune system and so therefore shortens life expectancy. The average life expectancy
in South Africa is 51 years old compared to MEDCS e.g. the UK average life expectancy is 80. ...

Also if more people had access to this drug life expectancy would increase dramatically as more
people are living long. Another reason for HIV/AIDS being a pandemic is because in most sub
Saharan countries it is in their culture not to use protection such as condoms.
HIV has had a massive impact on children in South Africa as there is almost
330,000 under 15s living with HIV in 2009. This clearly shows that majority of the children in
South Africa are with HIV/AIDS , this can effect a child s availability to learn in school or even
attend in the first place. Poor nutrition does not help this pandemic either as this can have an even
worse affect. When under weight the immune system is even weaker and is not able to fight
away diseases. Awareness of HIV/AIDs should be put in place in order to stop this disease from
spreading. If children are not attending school due to HIV/AIDS it is hard for them to have better
quality of life later on. Also leading to another point this does not help the countries economy as
most of the workforces are dying. Food deficiency has considerable effects on whether individuals
remain on treatment. Various people living with HIV in South Africa are unable to access nutritious
food, which can result in malnutrition. Malnutrition can impact significantly on both a person s
ability to adhere to treatment and on the effectiveness of antiretroviral drugs.

Most Memorable Works Of Architecture
There have been many memorable works of architecture in ancient history. So many, in fact, that it
can sometimes be pretty overwhelming. It is always interesting to think about how much these
individuals of the ancient world built given how behind they were compared to our lives today. In
the big scheme of things, they were actually probably better off than we are today. One of the most
admired and intricate works of architecture from the medieval French era is known as the Chartres
Cathedral(AKA the Notre Dame de Chartres or Cathedral of Notre Dame). This building is currently
located in France in the medieval town of Chartres, about fifty miles southwest of Paris (2 Chartres
Cathedral, Chartres Cathedral). It is consequently ranked as one of the three chief examples of
Gothic French architecture (The Editors of Encyclopedia Britannica, Chartres Cathedral). The
effort and meticulousness that was put into this building is magnificent for a time when such
architectural progress in society was small in quantity.
The Chartres Cathedral is one of the works of art in ancient history that still deems itself relevant
today. The reason why I chose to focus on the Gothic cathedrals of this time period is mainly
because of their sheer beauty and the complexity that it took to build these buildings, particularly
the Chartres Cathedral. It is no surprise that such a piece of work is still recognized and discussed
in ancient history curriculum. Gothic architects had to obey a set of

Racial Disparities And Gender Disparities
When it comes to healthcare racial disparities continue to be an ongoing issue. In fact racial
disparities have been a topic of discussion since desegregation. The US Department of Health and
Human Services, in 1984 published a report that called attention to the healthcare disparities. The
report was called Heath, United States 1983(Dougher, 2015). Within the context of the report there
lies a passage that describes the major disparities that are within the burden of illness and death that
is experienced by African Americans and other minorities, despite significant progress in the
overall health of the nation (Dougher, 2015). It was evident that there was a serious lack of health
care minorities. Low income neighborhoods are still witnessing a rising gap in healthcare coverage.
For example, patients with diabetes are more likely to undergo limb amputation than those in higher
income areas (Pearl, 2015). Also, research has shown the Caucasians women have and overall
incidence of breast cancer that is higher than that of African Americanwomen (Williams,
Mohammed, Leavell, Collins, 2010). On the contrary there is a higher death rate of breast cancer in
African American women than in Caucasians women.
African American women are diagnosed with breast cancer at a rate of one in ten. Caucasian
women see a rate of 1 in 8 however, 1 in 31 African American women are found die from their
illness where 1 in 37 Caucasian die from breast cancer (ASPCS, 2014). These numbers are

through a midlife crisis. I would then hear the term again and again in life but I still had no clue
what it really meant. Midlife crisis is a term referring to a critical phase in human development
during the forties to early sixties, based on the character of change points, or periods of
transition. The period is said to vary among individuals and between men and women. So I will
break down what happens during this transition in a man and woman s life. I will also discuss what
could cause this to happen in ones life.
Male midlife crisis is defined by researchers as having a personal turmoil and coping challenges
in people brought on by fears and anxieties about growing older. (Lang, S. 2001)This emotional
transition will be experience by many men generally between the ages of 45 and 60, but men as
young as 40 can also experience it. Men are susceptible to this condition especially if they have had
a transition in their life or they have experienced something traumatic. Most men can deal with this
process without making any major changes to their lifestyles ... Show more content on

A stereotype of woman suffering a midlife crisis is one who is physically unattractive, childless,
not interested in sex, menopausal, depressed, irritable, frustrated and intellectually dull. Which
are not true females that have a midlife crisis normally are working, have children and are
married. Midlife crisis is relatively understudied for women. Initially, it was thought that the
causes of midlife crisis for men were also the causes of midlife crisis for women which are not the
case. Midlife crisis in women is not an inevitable result of menopausal depression or empty nest
syndrome ( Mcquaide, S.

Temporal Lobe Research Paper
The temporal lobe is one of the four lobes of the cerebral cortex. It is right behind the temples, in
the bottom middle part of the cortex. The temporal lobe is anterior to the occipital lobe, separated
by the preoccipital notch, and inferior to the parietal and frontal lobe. The temporal lobe is
delineated above by the lateral sulcus, or sylvian fissure. It takes up about 17% of the cerebral cortex
, making it the second largest lobe after the frontal lobe. Only Primates have temporal lobes. The
anatomy of the temporal lobeis quite complex, which corresponds to the lobe s wide range of
functions. The temporal lobe is involved in facial recognition, audio reception, olfactory reception,

How Does Heathcliff The Seeker For Justice
Justice can be viewed in so many ways for the righteousness of others. Many principles have this
understanding in using it for their own. In the book of wuthering heights, there was many response
to the mistreatment and mischief in where Heathcliff tries to get what he wants. The protagonist
was viewed in different character, but in my choice, I think Heathcliffwas the seeker for justice. In
the beginning, Heathcliff was a lost child, where he was adopted to a family in being named
Heathcliff for not having parents. This lost child found the theory of family and lovebut

Music Is A Major Part Of Everyday Life
Music is a major part of everyday life. There are not many people that do not listen to music.
Music has been a gradual piece that has changed and evolved over time. From the beginning of
time where only simple melodies where being played on instruments made of animal parts to
present day where there is a mixture of visual representations and various melodies being played at
once. This is all due to the contributions of many artists over the years. Some of these artists where
most influential during the early 1700s around the time classic and baroque musicwere prevalent.
Other artists like the ones today have been influenced by past composers. This is just a way that
although there are many branches to music each artists influence and works can all be seen
together under one big music family. One of the most well known and influential artists of the
1700s was Ludwig Van Beethoven. Beethoven was born on December 17th 1770 in Germany. His
father was a musician for a court. During the 1700s top musicians played in courts meaning for
the royals of the country. They were regarded as royalty and important people because they
played for king and higher class people. It was said the Beethoven s father was an alcoholic, this
caused him to be a violent stern man. He was very strict with his children. Beethoven s mother
was the opposite. She was said to be a kind and gentle woman. Woman that loved and cared for her
children. She was the opposite of her husband. Beethoven used to

Unmanned Aircraft Systems ( Uas )
Unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) have become a quickly growing part of the aviation
community over the last five to ten years. More and more of these aircraft are flying in the
National Airspace System (NAS) with each passing year, without any set rules governing their
operation. With the growing population of UAS in the NAS, for military, civil, and commercial
use, the need for regulationis becoming increasingly obvious. How to regulate this type of aircraft
is no simple task. Taking into consideration the many factors of these aircraft such as size, purpose,
who is using them, and location of use, it is difficult to determine what regulation is required. That
is the task that has been set before the Federal Aviation Administration(FAA). To determine what
type of regulation is needed to integrate and ensure the safe operation of UAS in the NAS since the
skies that they share are shared with manned aircraft. Integration of UAS into the NAS
Since the first flight of Orville and Wilbur Wright s aircraft at Kitty Hawk, the development of
new aircraft types and technology in these and existing aircraft has moved along at a quick and
steady pace. Moreover, since 1903, aircraft limits continually have been pushed and surpassed.
Aircraft now fly higher, faster, farther and carry more cargo or passengers than ever before.
Nevertheless, it would only seem logical the next step in aviation evolution is removal of the human
factor in flight. Unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) have

Thank You All For Taking The Time At Come Tonight
Thank you all for taking the time to come tonight. Before we start I would like you all to use half
of your notes page to write down one word that describes how you have been feeling lately. You
may accompany this with a picture if you wish.
Now put those to the side, as we will need them a little later on.
We are going to start today s PD a little differently. I want you all to have a go at the colouring
sheets that are in front of you. We are going to just do this for 5minutes. During this timeI want you
to stay as quiet as you can and let your mind wander.
Ring a bell to regain attention (wait until bell has completely stopped before speaking)
Ok, it is now time to get the word/drawing that you wrote at the beginning of the session and in
the other half repeat the same thing. Write a word describing how you feel and once again you
may draw a picture as well.
Has anyone s responses changed in the last 5minutes?

As teachers, do you think that those 5minutes would change the behaviours that you see in your
classroom when your students come into the classroom?

Climate Change and Life Expectancy
The current rate of at which the world is being affected by climate change; one may be convinced
to believe that the earth will not be able to be inhabited by any other generation. The perfect
clarification of these claims has been the reduction in the life span and the increase in the number of
diseases that are actually attacking human beings all because of climatic change. The impact of
climate change has been felt and this has had a negative impact on the lives of animals and human
beings (Baker, Judy World Bank., 3). There has been a huge debate on whether climatic change is
responsible for the decline in the life expectancy among human beings as well as animals. This

countries hence the increase in the rate of complacency. The point also explains why developing
country usually relies on foreign aid as means of sustaining their own economies.
Initially animals used to have very long time span in that goats or even cattle could stay for
years and yet they are still very productive. This has certainly changed as result of climatic
changes. The animals used to live longer as a result of cold temperatures that used to slow down
their rates of metabolism hence the longer life span. Temperatures today are very high as a result
of climatic changes. The increased temperatures have actually led to increase in the metabolic
rate of the animals hence the reduction in the life span. This explains why animals today cannot
even live for more than five years and then remain productive all along as animals could live for
a whole decade but still remain very productive. It is believed that the presence of favorable
climatic conditions usually increase the life span of animals or even plants by more than 20
percent. This is very reason the people back in the 1700s all the way to the late 1800s used to live
long and they were not really exposed to the kind of diseases that people are currently exposed to
(Letcher, T. M, 49).

`How successful has the government in the UAE been in combating human trafficking?
According to popular definition: Human trafficking is the trade in humans, most commonly for the
purpose of sexual slavery, forced labor or for the extraction of organs or tissues. (http:/
/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_Trafficking) In my opinion, human traffickingis when a poor
person is exploited against their will in order to serve someone else. There are many issues that can
be considered human trafficking in the United Arab Emirates, such as the abuse of maids in rich or
poor households; the employment of labourers that work for construction companies who work
very long hours in hot weather and live in horrible conditions and women who are lured into the
UAE under the impression that the job that they are about to perform is legal, who eventually end
up becoming prostitutes. In this essay I will explore the history from when there was the initial
awareness of human trafficking in the UAE; why the government feels they should take action
and how successful they have been so far in trying to put an end to human trafficking. For my
research I will look at newspapers and websites such as The Gulf News, Khaleej Times and
websites such as United Nations and United Arab Emirates Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Human trafficking was for a long time accepted in the UAE as a way of life. In the Gulf region
there is a long history of wars between tribes and the men who were captured were usually

Analysis Of The Movie Shaun Of The Dead
Post modernism can be seen as a turning against structuralism and the rigid thinking of genre.
Shaun of the Dead(Focus) is a postmodern film as a combination of two genres: horror and
comedy. Horror and comedy are both opposites but did very well together in this film. Shaun of
the Dead is a post modern as it had all of the elements of a horror filmbut is in fact a comedy. The
filmwas directed and written by Edgar Wright (Wright) and co written by Simon Peggs (Peggs).
The film is a hybrid romantic, zombie and a comedy. These genres contradict each other
therefore resulting the film to be seen as a comedy as these opposing genres are not normally
combined with each other. Shaun of the Dead follows a version of a horror film with codes by
consisting blood, gore, zombies and isolation. Instead of Vladimir Propp s character
theory(Propp) the lead character of a cool and strong male lead, there is an average lead age
thirty something, who works at an electronic shop with his best friend who plays video games all
day on their couch. The average lead also doesn t want to take some responsibility, so this makes
him the anti hero. This adds another element of humor in the film because of not having
characteristics of typical hero. In the beginning of the film, Shaun is shown as the lead character.
His appearance is zombie like because of his behavior and lifestyle in a humorous way. The ironic
of that is the he is the human fighting against the zombies later on, not

Role Of Fate In Dante s Inferno
More commonly known as Dante, Inferno, The Divine Comedy: Inferno is a telling of Dante
the pilgrim s journey though the many rings of Hell by Dante Alighieri. At the time of its
creation the poem carried a lot of weight by using nearly all of the prominent figures of the time
to establish the dos and don ts of Christianity. For example, when Dante s journey begins he finds
himself in the circle of the lustful where he lays his eyes on many recognizable figures that even
those of us today can recognize, those such as; Dido, Helen of Troy, and Achilles. The story very
carefully exaggerates the cardinal sin of these people in a way that clearly lines out how it lead to
their doom, a brilliant teaching tool for new Christians. However, this... Show more content on

The situation worsens as the subject of Florence s fate is brought up several times, each time
giving a much politicized warning of the future. An example can be found on lines sixty four to
sixty nine of canto six; After much contention they will come to bloodshed; the rustic party will
drive the other out by brutal means. Then it will come to pass, this side will fall within three
suns, and the other rise to power with the help of one now listing toward both sides. Antiquated
is this excerpts meaning and message to a modern reader, something that dates a story too heavily
as this shows that this story was politicized to some extent, it could be called that it invalidates
the work to a certain degree. The same way in which topical comedy fails to remain funny after
just a few short years so too does the involvement of out of place propaganda. The Inferno can be

New Media Expands Old Philosophy Essay
This famous quote summarizes the gloomy philosophy of existentialism. Schopenhauer, using this
philosophy, believed that the universe was meaningless and irrational, and that his irrational life
was full of choices that brought him in contact with the nothingness of the universe. Existentialism
has no definite description because individuals create their own meaning by making sense of the
world as it pertains to the individual. While individuals create their own meaning, there are several
common themes that are followed. These themes fall under the general idea that reality is absurd
and it is the responsibility of humans to make their own choices and accept the consequences of
these choices in regard to the individual s experience. Some... Show more content on

Jane, in anti existentialism ideology, allowed her anxiety of the wallpaper to drive her crazy. Had

in power factor with load is shown graphically in Figure 13(a). It can be inferred from the graph
that improved resettable control operates at high power factor for all load condition whereas the

Demonetization of Currency Merits and Demerits of it in society and country
First of all what is demonetisation?
Demonetization of currency means banning of the particular currency and replacing it with a new
currency. In the current context it is the banning of the 500 and 1000 denomination currency notes
as a legal tender.
What was the objective behind it?
The Objective behind the Demonetization scheme in India is discussed below:
While the normal public all over India is stressed by standing in long ATM queues blaming the
Indian Government for their troubles, the government has introduced this scheme with some of the
superior motives for the benefit of the nation as a whole. Some of the reasons why the scheme was

However, if we compare the merits verses demerits, it will be safe to conclude that the former

that its benefits will be seen in the long run.
The government is taking all the necessary steps and actions to meet the currency demand and soon
the trial and tribulations of the people will be over with the smooth flow of the new currency
So we can say that it has both merits and demerits but in future we can say that itbhas positive
effect on country and its people. All in all, the demonetization is a bold step that is working its
way through ups and downs in India right now. It feels like a step taken by a mother (Mother
India) teaching its child (the public) a lesson and instil stronger values in it to ensure its bright
future. Demonetization can hence be termed as a necessary evil as of now and a way of paving its

The amount of blood shed on United States soil is enough to shower all of the dirty children in

crimes are committed left and right. Family backstabbing family, friends killing friends, your mom

Go big or go home. I believe we can solve the high murder rates and high cholesterol by holding all
citizens of the United States to a purge. It would be cheaper to kill everyone in a day and move on,
rather than spending an entire year filing homicide cases, crying over one dead person at a time.

How Did Hip Hop Affect Society
Hip Hop music and the sub genre, Gangster Rap, has deep roots dating back from as early as the
15th and 16th century but since the mid 1980 s and early 1990 s this sub culture has taken over

The articles that were found on the topic of Sanders Democratic standing induced both facts and
opinions. The media should be giving the people just the facts and letting the people make our
own opinions about the candidates. This can be hard to do as a report, but it should be done in
order for Americans to make their decisions without any influence from the news reporters.
Knowing that Sanders is more of a Socialist than a Democrat is a big part of his campaign and
should be told to the people, but the opinions of reports about his stance should not be covered on

Golden Age Of Animation
Animation plays an enormous role in the entertainment industry today. The Global Animation and
Gaming Market is estimated to be worth $242.92 billion (as of 2016), and animated films are the
most profitable of any film genre. This industry has widespread influence amongst all age groups,
and the films produced can span any genre. The industry has seen major changes with the recent
advances in computer generated animationtechniques. To fully understand animation, it s important
to see where it began. What is considered animation? That question is more loaded than many
believe, as the definition of animation is still debated today. This allows for some controversy as to
what is the first ever animation. Some believe that the cave painting... Show more content on

During this time, many classic characters emerged, including Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse,
Superman, and countless others. Disney released many feature length films during this time,
including Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Fantasia, and Dumbo. Warner Bros cartoons was
founded in 1933, notably allowing their animators more freedom to develop different styles than
other studios at the time. As disney started to make the shift into primarily focusing on feature
length films, Warner Bros continued to focus on making shorts, such as the successful Looney
Tunes series. The Golden Age started to rely more on voice actors to help bring these characters to
life, and scores played by studio orchestras to complete the story. During this time, colored
televisions became available to more and more Americans changing the ways they can receive their
entertainment. In 1958 the Huckleberry Hound Show was the first half an hour television show to
feature only animation. This eventually led to popular cartoons such as The Flintstones, being
featured on primetime television. The golden age of animation came to an end when televised
cartoons started to gain large viewerships, and animated shorts lost their popularity in

When I Saw Me
Walking out of the Museum of Fine Arts on a spring night in 2013, I began to think about where
my home really was. I had just left the Boston Palestine Film Festival, where the screening of
When I Saw You by the Palestinian filmmaker Annemarie Jacir had really stood out to me. The
movie was from the perspective of a young Palestinian refugee named Tarek living in a camp in
Jordan. Tarek goes on a journey to return to his home in Palestine. After watching the film, I had an
unshakeable feeling that my real home was in Palestine and felt a strong urge to return to the land
of my ancestors.
I developed a deeper connection to my Palestinian heritage after the film festival. These feelings
were confusing to me at first. There I was, living in the United States, feeling a powerful
sentimental attachment towards a land I ve never set foot in thousands of miles away. As a young
kid, having ties to so many places made it hard for me to develop a strong cultural identity. My ...

Reading the book, whose title translates to The Northern Path, cemented the idea of Palestine
as my homeland. I visited my grandfather in New York, where he was having a reading as part
of his book tour, and talked to him about growing up in Palestine. My grandfather s stories from
his childhood mesmerized me. He told me about growing up in the small village of Suhmata,
helping his parents in the fields, and playing with his friends on the farm. His stories inspired
images in my mind of Palestine as a paradise with endless rows of olive and fig trees. Before I
left, he gifted me with a keffiyeh, a traditional Palestinian headscarf and symbol of Palestinian
solidarity. The keffiyeh was made in a textile factory in Hebron, so it has a physical connection to
the land. It also has sentimental value coming from my grandfather. To this day, the keffiyeh is one

Summary Of The Short Novel Gentlehands
In the short novel Gentlehands, by M.E.Kerr, a teenage boy who lives in a small yellow house
in Montauk meets a wealthy teenage girl who lives in a vacation home, named Beauregard.
When Buddy and Skye meet they could not be more dissimilar and the large difference in social
class leads to a growth in Buddy s insecurity. He begins to take on a persona that blocks out his
innocent younger brother, Streaker, along with his parents. Although his wealthy grandfather is a
hugely disliked character from his mother, as of extreme betrayal when she was a child, Buddy
uses him to earn respect from Skye. For most of the novel, Buddy struggles with an extreme
obsession with Skye Pennington. However, once Buddy accepts that his grandfather is a Nazi...

stance. He borrows glory from his grandfather so he can change his social stance with Skye and
make him seem like the perfect guy for her. Buddy is a very insecure, obsessive, ungrateful, and
jealous character, who will do anything to get Skye to stay with him. As the story progresses, so
does Buddy s obsession with Skye, resulting in an unawareness of others feelings. During this
section of the book, Buddy s obsession of Skye is growing. He seems to be moving away from

14th Amendment Statement
In America we are constantly reminded of the idea of freedom and equality for every individual. It
is not commonly acceptable to base a person s stature in the community from their race, class,
religion, or sexuality. The most powerful act that brought forth new standards of civil rights and
equality privileges was the fourteenth amendment. One of the most highlighted aspects mentioned
within the document is that no state shall deprive any person of life, liberty, or property without
due process of law; nor deny any person... the equal protection of the laws. This simple statement
has made an impact in today s society. The equal protection of the law primarily draws from and
requires equal treatment for all citizens in the United States, but

Essay On Effects Of Discipline On Children
Spanking has a positive effect on children
For many years parents have been disciplining their children in various ways. Discipline is
required to train a child in doing what is right and staying away from what is wrong and
dangerous. Discipline has always been used in order for the child not to grow up spoiled and
choosy. Giving children what they want always is never a good thing, while teaching them that
they cannot have everything teaches them patience. Discipline is very critical in a child s life
because it is a determining factor on how that child is going to turn out in the future. People will
always relate bad parenting to a child s bad behaviour and good parenting to a good behaviour. So
how must parents discipline in order ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The researchers also found out in a survey that 30% of parents believed that spanking was not
harmful to their children, 60% believed it harmful to their children, only 10% believed it would
lead to severe problems. These statistics raise a startling flag when you think of the nature of this
form of correction.
Parents should be learned about how their form of discipline affects their child because
punishment does not have a sense of discipline as the only outcome. Sometimes children are less
responsive to a certain form of discipline than others. It cannot be helped that a child is unique and
different from others. The child is also a factor in terms of discipline and punishment it is not solely
dependent on his/her parent and the way they discipline. There are other alternatives to punishing
the children for their bad behavior. Less severe punishment besides spanking. They can take away
their television privileges, computer use, and playing outside with their friends, they could ground
them for the weekend and cancel plans, or they could take the time to sit and talk to their children
about their bad

Character Analysis Of Chalson s Flowers For Algernon
Charly (CHAРЇLY) is a science fiction drama film produced and directed by Ralph Nelson, which
has been adapted based on the novel Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes. The film was released
in September 1968 and was a hit at the box office. The film focuses around Charly s developing
character, who is a mentally retarded 30 year old man with a low IQ who can only do very simple
tasks. According to Roger Ebert,
He cheerfully inhabits a world that seems frightening to us. His barren room contains a
blackboard with the next day s tasks on it; he works as a janitor at a bakery where his friends
torment him. With heartbreaking persistence, he attends night classes and takes guided tours of the
city, but the things he learns all slip away and he has to keep starting again (Ebert).
Throughout the film, it is visible Charly s strong desire in growing more intelligent and all the effort
and determination he puts into it. The film plots distinctive themes and an extremely significant
symbol. The themes will be analyzed through the tension between intelligence and emotion and the
relationship between the mistreatment of disabled and alienation. The significant symbol in the
film is represented by the mouse Algernon. The themes are powerful features to the meaning of the
film. The tension between intellect and emotion plays a huge role in Charly s personality. Due to
his mental disability, Gordon is an extremely kind, truthful and sympathetic man. A great example

The Louisiana Purchase Shaping America
The Louisiana Purchase shaping America

Abstract
The Louisiana Purchase was a major event in the growth of the United States of America.
Purchased from France for 15 million by Thomas Jefferson in 1803, it gave America twice the
available land, adding 827,000 square miles. Some may argue the Louisiana Purchase is
unconstitutional, but Jefferson found a way around that. The Constitution says land may be
acquired through treaties such as the Louisiana Purchase. After the accusation of the Louisiana
Territory, Jefferson had an expedition lead by Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. The goal of
the expedition was to map the new territory and find a quicker path to the Pacific Ocean. The
entire expedition lasted a little longer than two years to complete. The Louisiana Purchase was a
deal between The United States and France over 827,000 square miles west of the Mississippi River
. (Wilson, G. 2003) It allowed for major expansion and growth for the small republic in 1803.
What if France would have denied our efforts to acquire the land, would The Unites States be the
same as it is today? Through my research I believe that without the acquisition of the Louisiana
Territory, The United States would not have been able to grow and become what it is today.
Considered to be one of, if not the greatest real estate purchase in American history, the

Generations fading As generations grow and continue to evolve with time, it has become evident
that often times traditions, customs, and family beliefs are evolving with time and the ideas and
practices of the older generations become obsolete. This is evident in Alice Walker s Everyday

assimilated to the modern day society and has shifted her views and practices to fit in with the
cultural norms. The daughter comes back home with what is believed to be either her husband. Or

As Joe Sarnowski interprets She has left the family s rural and impoverished state in pursuit of a
college education, and she returns with a strong appreciation for African heritage. The
appreciation is initially shown in her manner of dress (the clothing consists of yellows and
oranges enough to throw back the light of the sun, earrings hanging down to her shoulders, and
Bracelets dangling and making noises [52]) that appears at least stereotypically African
(Sarnowski 274) Dee takes on an African name of Wangero which further expresses her heritage.
Dee s idea of heritage is embedded within material objects which is evident upon her sudden
interest of the churn top, she recognizes it as a piece of art and sees it for what it if aesthetically
rather than what the churn is actually intended to be utilized for. She looks at the benches and
deems it as an artifact and she quote they re priceless (Walker 422) at that moment and time Dee s

Dee but rather to Maggie since she shares the same option as her mother. Dee puts up the argument

To What Extent Has Modern Liberalism Departed from...
There are huge differences between classical and modern liberalism and as a result classical
liberals believe that modern liberals have not stayed true to initial ideas posed by the likes of John
Locke given that modern liberals have embraced collectivism while classical liberals favoured pure
individualism. But they are fundamentally both forms of liberalismso are united in their belief of
freedom and rights of the individual but they have slightly different views on the type of freedom
they support.
Classical liberalism has a belief in utilitarianism first posed by Jeremy Bentham, this is where
individuals make tiny calculations about whether their actions will maximise pleasure or minimise
pain . This is an egotistical form of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
T.H. Green argued that freedom is the ability of the individual to develop individuality and this is
a positive thing. This is thus done through self fufillment and pushing one s own knowledge.
Positive freedom places emphasis on the individual flourishing rather than survival of the fittest
so therefore the state should offer equal opportunities to all. This has seen modern liberals
support the welfare state whereas classical liberals focused on standing on your own feet. But,
this is not totally different to core liberal beliefs. The state only intervenes to ensure equality such
as education and health. Modern liberals defend the welfare state on the basis of equality of
opportunity. The welfare state has attempted to address issues such as idleness and want and
squalor , named by the Beveridge Report by William Beveridge. Overall, Modern liberals believe
in providing an equal playing field to help the individual flourish in society rather than the
individual just battling for themselves.
This belief in some state intervention and positive freedom has lead liberals of modern times to a
belief in welfare and economic management. Modern liberals support economic management,
proposed first by John Maynard Keynes, who argued that governments could manage their
economies in order to thrive. They believe in a mixed economy where you sometimes must tax and

Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) consist of two or more benzeneringed compounds made
of only carbon and hydrogen. Compounds which are made of two rings are known as di aromatics
whereas those made of three benzene rings are known as tri aromatics and so forth. As the number
of rings increase, molecular weights of these compounds also increase and the compounds tend
towards higher thermodynamic stability. Most common examples of PAHs are naphthalene,
phenanthrene, pyrene etc.
Further, as these compounds become heavier, the particle s size increases and hence these
compounds are also known to be pre cursors of soot formation. In this report we will only be
studying PAH in the vapour phase whose particle sizes will be restricted to less than 1.5 nm.
Following diagram shows the formation of PAH resulting in soot, in a premixed flame. Figure 1:
Formation of PAH followed by soot. (Howard originally in Bockhorn) In a study carried out by Y.
Lev et al, it is seen that the concentration of total PAH is around 0.25 ng to 1 ng per Вµg of total
particulate matter depending on the number of rings, which is a very small quantity of the total
hydrocarbon emission from automotive. Figure 2: Ratio of total PAH to PM depending on the size

Economic Changes In Early Modern Europe

October 22nd Economic Change in Early Modern Europe
The Early Modern Period of Europe was a time of vast change in the economy due to the Price
Revolution, multiple wars and extremely high taxes, the Peasant Revolts, and the discovery of new
lands during the Age of Exploration. During the Early Modern Period there were no classic
examples of the average European citizen because of the unique religion, climate, population, etc, of
each region. The one similarity that all Europeans shared was that they were all going through
significant economic change (even though most of the Europeans were unaware of this). In Europe
during the sixteenth century, the large majority of the population either lived and worked on small
towns or farms (about %90). Manors, the Church, and the government took usually more than half
of what the peasants farmed (the taxes from the peasants had a big role in supporting the power of
the state). Peasants sometimes payed their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

they had to pay the inflated prices. During the Price Revolution countries started to engage in

Examples Of Romanticism In The Great Gatsby
The book of The Great Gatsby, by author F. Scott Fitzgerald, is a story that has two parts in the
philosophy of the characters way of living. There is the type of character that opposes the other
one in a certain way. There are many types of philosophies in the characters, but the philosophies of
Romanticism and Realism are represented many times in The Great Gatsby. Although they never
specifically mention it, several characters in Great Gatsby experience signs of a Romanticist
philosophy.

In pg 76, the philosophy of Romanticism can be inferred from her reaction after reading the
letter and getting as drunk as a monkey the night before her wedding, leaving her in a state of
confusion and anguish. This leaves her deciding in what to do, which then she marries Tom.
Eventually, she regrets taking this decision after having the choice of having either one. Another
example of Romanticism represented by her, is when she cries after Gatsby shows his variety of
shirts in pg. 92. Again, Daisy falls into Gatsby s trap of him trying to impress her with his
wealth. After 5 years lost, she begins to regret marrying Tom, and wishing she had spent that
time with Gatsby, which was impossible to do, caused by Gatsby s time in war and studies in
Oxford. This reunion in Gatsby s mansion, makes both of them fantasize that they are together
and makes them believe that there is still hope to live together happily as a couple. From here,
they begin to have affairs and this makes the romance and belief stronger, which then leads to
Gatsby accepting to face the problem: Tom. He believes that things must be done the respectful
way by talking to him like adults, but Daisy opposes that idea. Here, Daisy shows Romanticism
again, while Gatsby is being realistic. Unfortunately, the confrontation between the love triangle
leads to Gatsby s assassination after Myrtle, Tom s mistress and George Wilson s wife, is hit by
Gatsby s yellow car that Daisy was

  • 2. Good Parenting In A Good Man Is Hard To Find A parent s ability to properly raise a child stands as the most pivotal test in their chapter of life as guardians. The quality of a guardians parenting skills create the foundation for the child to grow and prosper in their lifetime as good, moral human beings. As a society, we understand that we need to teach our children right from wrong, not talk to strangers, and to always share with others. These just begin to break the surface of the many lessons that good parents should instill into their children s young malleable brains. Now, just because this grand expectation of good parentingstand so highly in society, doesn t mean they always step up to the plate and perform like they should. Some parents in today s society do not actually... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In today s society, some unfortunate families stay stuck in a vicious cycle of crime that they can t evade. The parents resort to a life of crime so inevitably the children follow in their parents footsteps and live the same lifestyle. In A Good Man is Hard to Find the concept of kids learning the wrong lessons from their parents remains quite apparent. June and John both hold tendencies to shriek out words of pure disrespect to any person they talk to. For example, John expresses that Tennessee is just a hillbilly dumping ground, disrespecting not only the Grandmothers opinion on wanting to go to Tennessee, but Tennessee as a state as well. Also, June says I wouldn t live in a broken down place like this for a million bucks! in several variations throughout the story. The kids act and speak in this manner because they learn this from their parents and Grandmother who don t assume the roles of good parents. In addition to disrespectfulness, the children often times behave violently and fight with not only each other but other family members as well. On the drive to Florida, June and John began to savagely slap each other because supposedly John doesn t play fairly. Instead of handling it like two good, respectful children, they result in physical confrontation. Later on, John starts to kick the back of his father s chair when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Being A Loyalist Essay As proved today, we should clearly stay under Britain s rule. Let s not forget that being a loyalist was very risky and unsafe. Whenever someone was a loyalist they were put into danger because patriots were known to overreact. For example, when Thomas Hutchinson revealed he was a loyalist, patriots burnt down his house instead of being civilized. Also, you could be imprisoned by the patriots just for being a loyalist. The patriots felt that being a loyalist was wrong and would imprison you just for having that opinion. Along with being imprisoned, you had to pay a huge amount of money to get out. This goes to show that many people were afraid to be loyalists because of the consequences and how violent the patriots were. This also shows that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They protested for taxation without representation simply because they didn t want to pay taxes, and the protests weren t peaceful. One example of their violence is the Boston Tea Partyand The Boston Massacre. The Boston Massacre wasn t even a massacre despite the name. This was when some patriots started throwing snowballs at soldiers and the soldiers had to defend themselves from the patriots, so the patriots were shot. The Boston Tea Party was when a very small tax was placed on tea and the patriots weren t happy about that. So instead of paying the very small tax, they went onto the tea ships and dumped the tea into the ocean. The taxes would overall help us in the end, because they also helped with protection and a better military. For their protests on Taxation without representation , they were protesting something that wasn t completely true. Actually, it was false because there was representation. Each colony had someone that could go to Parliament and speak on the colony s behalf. As for the taxes, they were placed on all of Britain, not just the colonies, yet the patriots were not satisfied and decided not to pay the taxes even though they were cheaper than what Britain had to pay. May I remind you that the taxes were being placed because of the land we have. The patriots want to go to war again which would not only result in an estimated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A hero to one person may not be a hero to another. I strongly agree with this definition for a hero to a person is not always a hero to others. In saying this, my hero is Isabelle Bruce Reid because she was the first female to qualify in Australia as a veterinarian. To me, Isabelle Reid was a name in history who changed the world, is valued and is a great role model. Firstly, Isabelle Bruce Reid is my hero because she changed the world for me and others, like you. I have a strong belief of this as if she had not become the first female veterinarian, then, today it may have been equally as difficult for others to become a vet as it was for her. If she can achieve it, then anyone who aspires to do something, can do it as well. I believe this message is incredibly worthwhile. As a result of it saying that anyone can do anything, it doesn t matter if you re a male of a female, or if you have a different skin colour or nationality. However, Stevenson argues that one has no choice but to follow their evil desires, where as Wilde argues that society and influence cause people to follow their desires. Corruption of man exists in both novels, in The Picture of Dorian Gray society makes one corrupt, but in Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde society controls evildesires that may otherwise take over one s personality. The duality of humans has been explored by many, and both novels agree that one has both evil and good desires. Furthermore, the novels also support the importance of appearance as a critical part of maintaining ones good side. Human nature can be both good and evil as Jekyll would say man is not one but two . Jekyll and Hyde show this duality by each taking one side of Dr.Jekyll s personality. In The Picture of Dorian Gray the portrait absorbs all the evil of Dorians actions leaving him endlessly youthful. • 6. Discussing Drug Legalization Drugs are bad, mkay. That s what we ve come to learn from Mr. Mackey in South Park (Ike s Wee Wee). While that is known, what is the best way to combat drug use in society today? It is true the government is spending billions of dollars on the War on Drugs, but if they were to be legalized would that be replaced with money being spent on healthcare due to drugrelated incidents, or drug treatment programs? It is true that a large amount of crime and the prison population are drug related offenders, but would that reduce with drug legalization or would we not see any difference? It is true that there is the pro and con side of this debate, but if drugs were to be legalized what sanctions should be set, if any? It is true that Portugal has decriminalized drugs, but will their experience be a good example of what would come to be if the US were to do the same? Both sides of the debate have a hopeful view of what will ultimately lead us into the betterment of tomorrow. The issue regarding all drugs being legalized has many facets with positive and negative impacts that make you question where you truly stand on this controversial matter. When it comes to discussing drug legalization it is important to understand why drugs were initially criminalized and the effects they have on the individual, families and society as a whole. Most drugs were actually once used medicinally, legally. Amphetamine was given to World War II soldiers to combat fatigue and prescribed after the war ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Research Paper On The Gospel Of John The Gospel of John The genius of the Apostle John resides in his ability to penetrate to the theological foundations that undergird the events of Jesus life. He reaches to the deeper baptism and the calling of the Twelve are doubtless presupposed, they are not actually described. Even themes central to the Synoptics have almost disappeared: in particular, the kingdom of God or the kingdom of heaven, so much a part of the preaching of Jesus in the Synoptic Gospels and the central theme of His narrative parables, is scarcely mentioned as such (cf. 3:3, 5; 18:36). meaning of the events, to the relationships of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in the work of redemption, and to the Trinitarian love for humanity which ... All of the material in John chapters 2 thru 4, for instance, including His miraculous transformation of water into wine, His dialogue with Nicodemus and His ministry in Samaria, find no Synoptic counterpart. Further, the resurrection of Lazarus, Jesus frequent visits to Jerusalem, and His extended dialogues or dis courses in the Temple and in various synagogues, not to mention much of His private instruction to His disciples, are all exclusive to the Fourth Gospel. No less striking are the forcefully presented themes that dominate John but that are largely absent from the Synoptics. Only in John is Jesus explicitly identified with God (1:1, 18; 20:28). Here, too, Jesus makes a series of important I am statements which are qualified: I am the light of the world, the resurrection and the life, the good shepherd, the vine, the living water, the way, the truth and the life. The only thing a reader can do is make his/her assumption based off of the facts given throughout the book as it is not clearly stated. By reading the book, it is very easy to assume that both Eric and Dylan were depressed and did not feel like they were treated fairly. Eric was the more violent of the two, although both had significant dealings with the shootings taken place. Their illnesses brought them together, making them feel as if they clicked or understood each other more than anyone else. Dylan is very easily identified as the most depressed of the two. In chapter thirty five, Dylan stated just how depressed he was. I get more depressed with each day, he complained. Why did friends keep deserting him? They did not, actually, but Dylan perceived it that way. He fretted about Eric dumping him, too. Wanna die, he repeated. (page 198) Dylan felt as if he was all alone and death equaled freedom to him now. Dylan was not worried about anyone but himself and how he felt. • 12. Difficulties In Teaching Pronunciation Most of English teachers tend to teach their non native students grammar rules and vocabulary, get them to participate in communicative activities and become qualified in reading and listening. As a result, teaching pronunciation is not taken into account due to teachers assumption of having a lot to do rather than focusing on proper pronunciation. Apparently, they claim that students will acquire it throughout learning. Therefore, there is no need to allocate time for teaching pronunciation. Accordingly, ESL learners encounter many difficulties in proper pronunciation. First, we can distinguish between accents and dialect . The former refers to the differences only in pronunciation that may occur due to geographical differences, social and cultural differences, and different educational background. The latter indicates the variety of a language, which differs in things other than pronunciation such as vocabulary, grammar, and word order. We can spot some of the factors that affect the pronunciation of ESL learners especially Arabs. Accordingly, the interference of the learners native language and the learner s age can determine the accuracy of his pronunciation; the younger is he the easier he will master good pronunciation. Further, the amount of exposure to English exceeds the ability to speak native like English, especially if the learner is living in an English speaking environment. From my personal experience, when I was an Arab ESL language learner, my friends ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An infectious disease that affects health, economic development and lifestyle is HIV/AIDS. This disease is a pandemic that has spread over continents and all over the world. An area where this disease has effected the most is in South Africa, this is because it s estimated that 5.6 million people are living with HIV and AIDS. Leading on to my next point, this has a massive effect on health due to the fact that this disease affects the immune system and so therefore shortens life expectancy. The average life expectancy in South Africa is 51 years old compared to MEDCS e.g. the UK average life expectancy is 80. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also if more people had access to this drug life expectancy would increase dramatically as more people are living long. Another reason for HIV/AIDS being a pandemic is because in most sub Saharan countries it is in their culture not to use protection such as condoms. HIV has had a massive impact on children in South Africa as there is almost 330,000 under 15s living with HIV in 2009. This clearly shows that majority of the children in South Africa are with HIV/AIDS , this can effect a child s availability to learn in school or even attend in the first place. Poor nutrition does not help this pandemic either as this can have an even worse affect. When under weight the immune system is even weaker and is not able to fight away diseases. Awareness of HIV/AIDs should be put in place in order to stop this disease from spreading. If children are not attending school due to HIV/AIDS it is hard for them to have better quality of life later on. Also leading to another point this does not help the countries economy as most of the workforces are dying. Food deficiency has considerable effects on whether individuals remain on treatment. Various people living with HIV in South Africa are unable to access nutritious food, which can result in malnutrition. Malnutrition can impact significantly on both a person s ability to adhere to treatment and on the effectiveness of antiretroviral drugs. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Most Memorable Works Of Architecture There have been many memorable works of architecture in ancient history. So many, in fact, that it can sometimes be pretty overwhelming. It is always interesting to think about how much these individuals of the ancient world built given how behind they were compared to our lives today. In the big scheme of things, they were actually probably better off than we are today. One of the most admired and intricate works of architecture from the medieval French era is known as the Chartres Cathedral(AKA the Notre Dame de Chartres or Cathedral of Notre Dame). This building is currently located in France in the medieval town of Chartres, about fifty miles southwest of Paris (2 Chartres Cathedral, Chartres Cathedral). It is consequently ranked as one of the three chief examples of Gothic French architecture (The Editors of Encyclopedia Britannica, Chartres Cathedral). The effort and meticulousness that was put into this building is magnificent for a time when such architectural progress in society was small in quantity. The Chartres Cathedral is one of the works of art in ancient history that still deems itself relevant today. The reason why I chose to focus on the Gothic cathedrals of this time period is mainly because of their sheer beauty and the complexity that it took to build these buildings, particularly the Chartres Cathedral. It is no surprise that such a piece of work is still recognized and discussed in ancient history curriculum. Gothic architects had to obey a set of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In fact racial disparities have been a topic of discussion since desegregation. The US Department of Health and Human Services, in 1984 published a report that called attention to the healthcare disparities. The report was called Heath, United States 1983(Dougher, 2015). Within the context of the report there lies a passage that describes the major disparities that are within the burden of illness and death that is experienced by African Americans and other minorities, despite significant progress in the overall health of the nation (Dougher, 2015). It was evident that there was a serious lack of health care minorities. Low income neighborhoods are still witnessing a rising gap in healthcare coverage. For example, patients with diabetes are more likely to undergo limb amputation than those in higher income areas (Pearl, 2015). Also, research has shown the Caucasians women have and overall incidence of breast cancer that is higher than that of African Americanwomen (Williams, Mohammed, Leavell, Collins, 2010). On the contrary there is a higher death rate of breast cancer in African American women than in Caucasians women. African American women are diagnosed with breast cancer at a rate of one in ten. I would then hear the term again and again in life but I still had no clue what it really meant. Midlife crisis is a term referring to a critical phase in human development during the forties to early sixties, based on the character of change points, or periods of transition. The period is said to vary among individuals and between men and women. So I will break down what happens during this transition in a man and woman s life. I will also discuss what could cause this to happen in ones life. Male midlife crisis is defined by researchers as having a personal turmoil and coping challenges in people brought on by fears and anxieties about growing older. (Lang, S. 2001)This emotional transition will be experience by many men generally between the ages of 45 and 60, but men as young as 40 can also experience it. More and more of these aircraft are flying in the National Airspace System (NAS) with each passing year, without any set rules governing their operation. With the growing population of UAS in the NAS, for military, civil, and commercial use, the need for regulationis becoming increasingly obvious. How to regulate this type of aircraft is no simple task. Taking into consideration the many factors of these aircraft such as size, purpose, who is using them, and location of use, it is difficult to determine what regulation is required. That is the task that has been set before the Federal Aviation Administration(FAA). To determine what type of regulation is needed to integrate and ensure the safe operation of UAS in the NAS since the skies that they share are shared with manned aircraft. Integration of UAS into the NAS Since the first flight of Orville and Wilbur Wright s aircraft at Kitty Hawk, the development of new aircraft types and technology in these and existing aircraft has moved along at a quick and steady pace. Moreover, since 1903, aircraft limits continually have been pushed and surpassed. Aircraft now fly higher, faster, farther and carry more cargo or passengers than ever before. The animals used to live longer as a result of cold temperatures that used to slow down their rates of metabolism hence the longer life span. Temperatures today are very high as a result of climatic changes. The increased temperatures have actually led to increase in the metabolic rate of the animals hence the reduction in the life span. This explains why animals today cannot even live for more than five years and then remain productive all along as animals could live for a whole decade but still remain very productive. It is believed that the presence of favorable climatic conditions usually increase the life span of animals or even plants by more than 20 percent. This is very reason the people back in the 1700s all the way to the late 1800s used to live long and they were not really exposed to the kind of diseases that people are currently exposed to (Letcher, T. According to popular definition: Human trafficking is the trade in humans, most commonly for the purpose of sexual slavery, forced labor or for the extraction of organs or tissues. (http:/ /en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_Trafficking) In my opinion, human traffickingis when a poor person is exploited against their will in order to serve someone else. There are many issues that can be considered human trafficking in the United Arab Emirates, such as the abuse of maids in rich or poor households; the employment of labourers that work for construction companies who work very long hours in hot weather and live in horrible conditions and women who are lured into the UAE under the impression that the job that they are about to perform is legal, who eventually end up becoming prostitutes. In this essay I will explore the history from when there was the initial awareness of human trafficking in the UAE; why the government feels they should take action and how successful they have been so far in trying to put an end to human trafficking. For my research I will look at newspapers and websites such as The Gulf News, Khaleej Times and websites such as United Nations and United Arab Emirates Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Shaun of the Dead(Focus) is a postmodern film as a combination of two genres: horror and comedy. Horror and comedy are both opposites but did very well together in this film. Shaun of the Dead is a post modern as it had all of the elements of a horror filmbut is in fact a comedy. The filmwas directed and written by Edgar Wright (Wright) and co written by Simon Peggs (Peggs). The film is a hybrid romantic, zombie and a comedy. These genres contradict each other therefore resulting the film to be seen as a comedy as these opposing genres are not normally combined with each other. Shaun of the Dead follows a version of a horror film with codes by consisting blood, gore, zombies and isolation. Instead of Vladimir Propp s character theory(Propp) the lead character of a cool and strong male lead, there is an average lead age thirty something, who works at an electronic shop with his best friend who plays video games all day on their couch. The average lead also doesn t want to take some responsibility, so this makes him the anti hero. This adds another element of humor in the film because of not having characteristics of typical hero. For example, when Dante s journey begins he finds himself in the circle of the lustful where he lays his eyes on many recognizable figures that even those of us today can recognize, those such as; Dido, Helen of Troy, and Achilles. How Did Hip Hop Affect Society Hip Hop music and the sub genre, Gangster Rap, has deep roots dating back from as early as the 15th and 16th century but since the mid 1980 s and early 1990 s this sub culture has taken over mainstream and has had a negative effect on both Hip Hop as a culture and the american society. The word rap was first used in Brittain and meant to hit or to strike. As the word evolved over the centuries the definition of the word changed to mean to speak or to talk. Since then this way of communicating evolved into a very popular musical style in the United States and around the world as Hip Hop and Rap. The commercial music industry has since greatly profited off of this style and form of music grossing nearly one billion dollars annually. I had just left the Boston Palestine Film Festival, where the screening of When I Saw You by the Palestinian filmmaker Annemarie Jacir had really stood out to me. The movie was from the perspective of a young Palestinian refugee named Tarek living in a camp in Jordan. Tarek goes on a journey to return to his home in Palestine. After watching the film, I had an unshakeable feeling that my real home was in Palestine and felt a strong urge to return to the land of my ancestors. I developed a deeper connection to my Palestinian heritage after the film festival. These feelings were confusing to me at first. Discipline is required to train a child in doing what is right and staying away from what is wrong and dangerous. Discipline has always been used in order for the child not to grow up spoiled and choosy. Giving children what they want always is never a good thing, while teaching them that they cannot have everything teaches them patience. Discipline is very critical in a child s life because it is a determining factor on how that child is going to turn out in the future. Parents should be learned about how their form of discipline affects their child because punishment does not have a sense of discipline as the only outcome. Sometimes children are less responsive to a certain form of discipline than others. It cannot be helped that a child is unique and different from others. The film was released in September 1968 and was a hit at the box office. The film focuses around Charly s developing character, who is a mentally retarded 30 year old man with a low IQ who can only do very simple tasks. According to Roger Ebert, He cheerfully inhabits a world that seems frightening to us. His barren room contains a blackboard with the next day s tasks on it; he works as a janitor at a bakery where his friends torment him. With heartbreaking persistence, he attends night classes and takes guided tours of the city, but the things he learns all slip away and he has to keep starting again (Ebert). Throughout the film, it is visible Charly s strong desire in growing more intelligent and all the effort and determination he puts into it. The film plots distinctive themes and an extremely significant symbol. The themes will be analyzed through the tension between intelligence and emotion and the relationship between the mistreatment of disabled and alienation. The significant symbol in the film is represented by the mouse Algernon. The themes are powerful features to the meaning of the film. • 50. The Louisiana Purchase Shaping America The Louisiana Purchase shaping America Christopher Richeson East Forsyth High School Mrs. Callendar American History 4th Period December 15, 2015 Abstract The Louisiana Purchase was a major event in the growth of the United States of America. Purchased from France for 15 million by Thomas Jefferson in 1803, it gave America twice the available land, adding 827,000 square miles. Some may argue the Louisiana Purchase is unconstitutional, but Jefferson found a way around that. The Constitution says land may be acquired through treaties such as the Louisiana Purchase. After the accusation of the Louisiana Territory, Jefferson had an expedition lead by Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. The goal of the expedition was to map the new territory and find a quicker path to the Pacific Ocean. The entire expedition lasted a little longer than two years to complete. The Louisiana Purchase was a deal between The United States and France over 827,000 square miles west of the Mississippi River . (Wilson, G. 2003) It allowed for major expansion and growth for the small republic in 1803. What if France would have denied our efforts to acquire the land, would The Unites States be the same as it is today? Through my research I believe that without the acquisition of the Louisiana Territory, The United States would not have been able to grow and become what it is today. This is thus done through self fufillment and pushing one s own knowledge. This has seen modern liberals support the welfare state whereas classical liberals focused on standing on your own feet. But, this is not totally different to core liberal beliefs. The state only intervenes to ensure equality such as education and health. Modern liberals defend the welfare state on the basis of equality of opportunity. Compounds which are made of two rings are known as di aromatics whereas those made of three benzene rings are known as tri aromatics and so forth. As the number of rings increase, molecular weights of these compounds also increase and the compounds tend towards higher thermodynamic stability. Most common examples of PAHs are naphthalene, phenanthrene, pyrene etc. Further, as these compounds become heavier, the particle s size increases and hence these compounds are also known to be pre cursors of soot formation. In this report we will only be studying PAH in the vapour phase whose particle sizes will be restricted to less than 1.5 nm. Following diagram shows the formation of PAH resulting in soot, in a premixed flame. Figure 1: Formation of PAH followed by soot. (Howard originally in Bockhorn) In a study carried out by Y. Lev et al, it is seen that the concentration of total PAH is around 0.25 ng to 1 ng per Вµg of total particulate matter depending on the number of rings, which is a very small quantity of the total hydrocarbon emission from automotive.
