Personal Statement On Health Improvement Plan
For the very first time in my life, I had executed a series of behavior changes in order to lose fifteen
pounds by this semester. I am pleased and more than grateful to see that my customized plan is
successful, and took effect in different aspects of my well being. I am not what happened to me, I am
what I choose to become , I believe this quote by Carl Jung encapsulated why my health improvement
plan would work determination incorporated into a personalized plan. Hereinafter, I would like to
discuss in details what and why had my behavior changes improved both my short term and long term
health.
I followed the Copenhagen diet a thirteen day diet to lose weight and improve metabolism. I started
this diet on the start of semester, giving myself a week time to bid farewell to my ravenous appetite,
before disciplining myself to go through the diet. It was extremely difficult for the first few days, I
was constantly hungry and was craving for snacks between meals. I wasn t able to strictly follow what
is written on the menu, and I irresistibly ate between meals for several days when I was famished.
Fortunately, I had been able to resist the temptations of junk foods foods containing excessive calories,
fat, sugar and salt. I only ate fruits or muesli when I was feeling hungry. These acts of violation
subsided completely on the fourth day, and I started to get use to a reduced daily calorie intake.
Throughout this thirteen days, I generally had a steady loss of one pound

Explain Why The Unexamined Life Is Not Worth Living
Nicole Wade Course Number: HU 399 6 Assignment: Final Project Due Date: 12/04/2014 Date
Submitted: 12/04/2014 Myth/Narrative I Am Living I enthusiastically embrace the sentiment of
Socrates that, The unexamined life is not worth living. Upon reflection, and asking myself, what
exactly does this mean, I feel as if my life has progressed full circle. I finally understand, to a greater
extent, the meaning and purpose of my life the myth I believe and know I should be living. Through
the course readings, text, and concepts, the authors have inspired me to seek more knowledge. It has
stimulated self introspection, an analysis of my experiences, and a desire to further examine my life. I
am convinced that my inherited narrative is my tradition of faith. My faith gives me purpose, allowing
me to connect to life, as I write my narrative and personally extract the significance of tradition that
measures my completeness, proving that my living is not in vain. Since my youth, I have been on a
quest to find my place in this world curious and questioning always, the reason and meaning of my
life, while at the same time partaking in this overwhelming feeling of loving God, and having a
purpose. Never minding those around me, but pondering what am I here for? Why am I am special?
Over the years, I was nicknamed, Sunshine, I am told because my energy is so high, that it makes
people warm and happy. I can recall being three years old, living in New York City,

To detect the provenance of the news articles on the news websites on the Internet. The method
proposed for detecting the provenance of news articles is Topic Detection and Tracking technique,
through using Google Custom Search or Google Search API. Google Custom Search is a platform
offered by Google that allows web developers to offer customized information in web search results.
Also, classified and organize the queries and create customized search engines based on Google

Grilled Research Paper
Grilled v. Fried Food
Has it ever happened to you that you have the option of choosing the same dish, but one recipe is
grilled and the other is fried? I know it has happened to me and almost every time I ve chosen the fried
version. Let us be honest and admit that fried food seems to be more appealing for everyone, even to
me. There is something to it that makes it addictive, McDonald s is not famous and successful for
nothing. But the sad truth is that although that fried food is extremely delicious when people consume
it frequently it can damage their health and cause serious problems.
So, am I saying that fried food should be forbidden and that we should only prepare (or buy) grilled
meals? No, not really. Fried food it is not awfully bad, indeed is not the healthiest option, but like we
have heard many times everything should have a balance , therefore fried food can be consumed in
small amounts and perhaps not so frequently. The deal with fried food is that it is a content high in fat.
What makes fried food high in fat, is that when the food is being fried it absorbs an abundant amount
of fat from the oil that is being used. The ingestion of an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But not all grilled food is bad, and grilled food can be healthier if done properly. There are several
methods that can reduced the amount of heterocyclic amines and of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons
that are created. The first one will be to cut the meat into smaller pieces, into bite size pieces to be
specific. This method reduces the amount of time that it is requires to cook the meat and the time that
the meat is exposed to the smoke. Another step that would help is to marinate the meat. The herbs and
the spices used in the marinade give antioxidants to the meat which prevent the development of HCA.
Lastly, let us remember that grilling vegetables is not detrimental to your health and not

Willy feels that if he takes the job offer from his friend Charley who is more successful than him, it
will look like he is failing and in need of help. Charley, being the nice person he is, sees a friend in
need of a little help and offers to help him become stable with a job, but Willy takes it a different way
than it is intended. One literary critic observes Willy s insecurity and describes it by writing, Instead of
accepting it, Willy assures him that he already has a job, and that he likes being a salesman. The truth
is that Willy has just been fired. Charley does not understand why Willy will not work for him because
it is a guaranteed salary (Campo). Willy would rather lie to someone and struggle without a job rather
than take a job and have a better life with the guaranteed salary. Willy has let his overwhelming pride

Graffiti In The United States
Since the late 1980s, various public and private sector actors in the United States who do not write
graffiti have practiced anonymity and sought fame to suppress and promote graffiti. Most non writing
public sector actors have cracked down on graffiti as a criminal act that blights urban surfaces, while,
in response, many non writing private sector actors have promoted graffiti as a profitable consumer
good and art form. In the public sector, police officers and politicians in New York and then Chicago
and Denver have prosecuted graffiti as the illegal vandalism of property walls and other surfaces; over
time, police officers have learned to adapt plainclothes dress to patrol environments, capture writers,

Argumentative Essay On Deep Brain Stimulators
There are many illnesses, pertaining to both medical and psychological, that affect the health and
wellbeing of countless other people. Some examples of these types of diseases would be Parkinson s
disease and obsessive compulsive disorder. While the effects of the disease can be suppressed by
pharmaceutical means, there comes a point when medicine is simply not enough. This in turn led to
the usage of deep brain stimulators to help ameliorate problems that medicine could not. Although
implementing deep brain stimulators is a new procedure that has been in practice since over twenty
years ago, many experts agree that using them is not a panacea because there can be many problems
from them. Since deep brain stimulators are recently new in the medical field, there are positive and
negative effects still being discovered. To begin with, according to an article written by Lyons, MD,

students to read in their times of angst. Containing large amounts of symbolism and hidden themes, A

Young Xavier was crossing a street with is sister when his life took a turn for the worst. An accident
left this once energetic child confined to a wheelchair, his mother forced to listen to the constant,
rhythmic mechanical hum of his breathing apparatus. If it fails she will only have moments before he
would begin to suffocate. An unsuspecting Amish family, going about their day as per usual was killed

Second to the Next , conveys a simple, yet profound, notion it can happen to any of us. (Herzog)
Anyone can lose their life because another driver deems sending a message more important. It should
be a goal of every driver to create a safer environment on the road for those generations yet to come. I
drive nearly every day, and my safety relies on the actions of other drivers as much as, or more so,
than my own. For this reason, the accountability of my decisions when I am behind the wheel are of a
great concern for me. Text messaging and social networking sites on smartphones make the bulk of
how people today interact. This in itself is not inherently bad though there is a tendency for
individuals to use their device in inappropriate environments, such as while driving.
Distracted driving while not exclusively limited to phone use by definition describes any

The Perfectionist In The Enneagram
There are moments in one s life when the light shines so bright that it is painful. This is especially true
for the Perfectionist in the Enneagram who needs to face both the best of their personality type, but
also the dark side of their flaws. With a pure heart, Ian Morgan Cron offers The Road back to You,

God and satisfaction in life. What is more, Cron speaks from experience when he was dealt a painful

Self-Realization In The Glass Castle By Jeannette Walls
One of the things that amazed me the most about The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls was that even
though she had basically been brainwashed by her own father, she still came to terms with what she
wanted out of her life and became a success. For her entire childhood, her parents did not even think
she would amount to anything because she had no real skills, and her father did try and push her
towards a life in science. However, in high school, Jeannette realized she had a passion for journalism;
which is how she ended up turning herself into a success. Her story of triumph against all odds, and
finding what someone really wants to do was what really inspired me. The theme of self realization in
The Glass Castle of what a person s beliefs are even in the face of adversity is something I have been
able to relate to in my life. For my entire life I have been raised Catholic, and for a while that is really

the Zimbabwe African National Union. 6. I think that this picture is appropriate to represent an
autocratic government because one person is ruling and everyone else has to listen. The citizens
cannot question nor can they speak out against the leaders actions. The leader has all the power and no
input is sought from the people. 7. Hitler was an example of an autocratic leader because he made all

he had many restrictions and strict rules. Hitler was the ruler of Germany and wanted to take over the

circulating aldosterone levels that are nearly 20 times above normal. The pathophysiological effects of
raised aldosterone levels in these patients are diverse and include sodium and water retention,
increased loss of K+ and Mg2+, myocardial and vascular fibrosis, reduced uptake of norepinephrine in

Spironolactone is a nonselective aldosterone receptor antagonist marketed since the 1960s and bears
structural similarity to progesterone resulting in sex steroid receptor cross reactivity. This is
responsible for anti androgen and anti progesterone adverse effects seen in treated individuals.
Canrenone, marketed as principle active metabolite of spironolactone, is devoid of significant first
pass metabolism and has a substantially longer t ½ as compared to the parent molecule (16.5 hours vs
1.4 hours). It has also been reported to have a lower incidence of antiandrogenic adverse reactions
despite being a non selective MRA. Eplerenone, a spironolactone derivative, in contrast is a selective
aldosterone receptor antagonist with lower affinity for the progesterone and androgen receptors and
consequently is devoid of related adverse effects. Eplerenone is primarily metabolized in the liver by
cytochrome P450 (CYP3A4 isoenzyme) and is therefore subject to interactions with CYP3A4
inhibitors as well as inducers. It has a plasma half life of 4 6 hours, and steady state levels are usually
achieved 48 hours after treatment initiation.
Clinical Use:

material for the production of succinic acid with immobilized cell fermentation process was
investigated. In this work, the raw material, immobilized cells to produced succinic acid were
characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometry (FTIR) and Scanning Electron Microscope
instruments. Based on the results, the functional group appearing for treated and commercial glycerol
is the hydroxyl, aromatic methoxyl, alkenes, soap, carbonyl and alcohol group. The hydroxyl group
which is O H appeared at a spectra value of 3394.2700 cm 1for the treated glycerol and 3299.9600 cm

Summary Of To Techers By Rabindranath Tagore
Within the works of, To Techers, by Rabindranath Tagore, the reader is introduced to Tagore s
personal story of why he created his school. Tagore is a man who believed that the current educational
system is poisoning children s minds, due to the lack of creativity the child receives when learning
from non active lectures. Tagore starts by giving his life story of when he was a child. However, He
describes his schooling atmosphere as a type of prison where the only way for him to escape was to
finish learning as soon as possible. Because Tagore had despised the educational system, he had
created his own school, where students would learn in a natural atmosphere. To do this, he
implemented dramatic performances, decorations for the different seasons, and brought in musicians
to play freely amongst the school. Even Tagore had produced his own songs and writings to show his
students the lively atmosphere of school. He believed that schooling should not be a prison, but a way
for many to come together and understand other s in the fullest sense. Tagore had the idea of not a
university, but a meeting place for students of all countries and religions to come together to find
spiritual unity, or as Tagore puts it, I have in mind not merely a University, for that is only one aspect
of our Visva Bharati, but the idea of a great meeting place for individuals from all countries where
men who believe in spiritual unity can come in touch with their neighbors, (Tagore 44). To put it

possibly improve their dependency on it due to the trauma and the hardship of jail, and it might even
cause them to commit serious crimes to feed their addiction.Legalizing drugs can alsoreduce the

possessionof illicit drugs, and began treating drug addiction as a mental issue rather than a criminal

Schindler s List Steven Spielberg
Schindler s List
How has Steven Spielberg used film techniques to make the viewer feel more involved?
Introduction: The film Schindler s List is based on a book called Schindler s Ark, written by the
Australian novelist Thomas Keneally. It follows Oskar Schindler (Liam Neeson) a rich German
businessman as he devotes his life to saving as many refugees as possible, most of them being Jewish
Polish. He does this by employing them in his factories, where they make pots, pans and later on in
the film faulty ammunition for the German Nazi military. Oscar employed more than 500 people for
several years costing him all of his savings, apart from a few dollars and a golden pin, desperately
trying to spare their lives.

The first being a dripping fire hydrant only metres away from the dying Jews. They are cramped into
such a small, dry, hot space with no water and only short distance away water is being wasted. This
shows how uncaring and cruel the Nazis were, it would have been of little effort to them to give the
Jewish people water however it was more enjoyable to watch them suffer. Spielberg used a number of
close ups on the suffering Jewish people. This shows the audience how little room they have are and
how mistreated they are by the Nazis. The final important camera technique is the zoom along the
length of hose. This has been used to enphasize the lengths that Schindler will go to in order help the
jewish people. Spielberg uses camera angles and techniques to create a greater impact for the audience
and also to help portray his message. These camera angles in this scene are used throughout the whole
movie, showing the lengths Schindler will go to in order to give them water we can see that he will go

So, the pros and cons of technology in our generation.
It is pretty easy to make a list for both, but a bit easier to make a list for the pros, so we will do that.
The first and most important things brought to us by technology is the communication.
Pros We are a pretty social bunch, and with phones, social media and by other means we are able to
contact people from long distances for no reason at all, and with no effort. These things allow us to
stay in contact with family, and even long distance relationships, as if they ever work. In my eyes
Youtube is also a source of communication, because it allows us to look things up, like how to videos,
which contain knowledge that would be much harder to obtain ... Show more content on

Virtual bullying is becoming a very big concern for people our age, being the first area to have too
much technology to back up our good times, and bad time. We tend to struggle through emotional
stress a lot more than past generations, so a simple message is able to tare some of us down really
easily.
Video games. Now this one is completely my opinion, and i m not interested in starting an arguement,
but the pros and cons for this one, in my eyes are simply put.
Pros When it comes to video games I personally go to them to blow off steam. Now I see this as a
great pro, because when some child or even adults just want to hit something games can pull them
back from doing something stupid. They may just go home play some GTA, putting their anger into a
game, so that no one actually gets harmed.
Cons The con for gaming is, in my eyes, just the fact that they can tend to distract from other real life
things. When you got homework, but you have just one more; you can fill in the blank. Games are
great and all but even I m guilty of this one. I d much rather play my Ps4 than get that stack of
homework done, I can always do it later, but then later I ll say the

Essay on Characteristics of Dolphins
Characteristics of Dolphins
The majority of small tooth whales are called dolphins. Dolphins are mammals of the order Cetacean
and the families Plantanistidae and Delphinidae and include about 50 species (Internet 1). Most
dolphin species are about 6 feet in length, the males averaging 4 to 8 inches longer than females. The
longest dolphin, the bottle nose dolphin, can reach over nine feet in length and weight up to 440
pounds. The smallest dolphin species is the buffalo which is found in the Amazon River. The Buffalo
dolphin rarely grows over 3.9 feet or weighs more than 66 pounds. A dolphin s diet consists mainly of

A dolphin s normal cruising speed is about 23 to 25 mph, and if they are bow riding, they have been
known to get up to 30mph. Because dolphins are mammals (warm blooded) their internal temperature
is between 97.9o to 99of. They normally come to the surface to breathe about every two minutes. Each
breath consists of a short, almost explosive exhalation, followed by a slightly longer inhalation.
Dolphins can hold their breath for up to several minutes and are capable of rapid and deep dives of
more then 1,000 ft. Dolphins once were hunted commercially, for the small quantity of valuable oil
extracted from parts of the head and used to lubricated delicate watch mechanisms. Since cheaper oils
have now been found from other sources, dolphins are no longer hunted for this reason. Many
dolphins, however, become accidentally trapped and drowned in tuna nets. Between the years 1959
and 1972 an estimated 4.8 million dolphins died this way (www.thedolphinplace.com/facts.html).
Because of the pressure from animal rights activists and United States consumers, both domestic and
international tuna canners have refused to accept shipments from fishing fleets that do not protect
dolphins. The Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972, amended in 1988 and 1992, was passed to

In this article, we ll look at how to grab the password hashes from a Linux system and crack the
hashes using probably the most widely used password cracking tool out there,
John the Ripper.
Let s boot up BackTrack and get hacking!
Where Linux Passwords Are Stored
Linux passwords are stored in the /etc/passwd file in cleartext in older systems and in
/etc/shadow file in hash form on newer systems. We should expect that the passwords on anything
other than old legacy systems to be stored in /etc/shadow.
Step 1: Create Some User Accounts
Since our BackTrack system probably doesn t have many users on it other than our root account, let s
go ahead and create a couple more accounts.

In Linux, the cp command means copy and the ./ represents our current directory. So this command
says, copy the contents of /etc/shadow to my current directory. We do the same for the /etc/ passwd
file.
Step 5: Unshadow
Next we need to combine the information in the /etc/shadow and the /etc/passwd files, so that
John can do its magic. bt ./unshadow passwd shadow passwords
Step 6: Crack!
Now that we have unshadowed the critical files, we can simply let John run on our password file. bt

John the Ripper will proceed to attempt to crack your passwords. As you can see, it cracked
all three of ours in a matter of seconds! Of course, more complex passwords will take significantly
more time, but all we need is just one user with a simple password and we have access to the account
in seconds.

How My View on Gay Marriage Changed
How My View on Gay Marriage Changed
At the time, gay marriage is a steaming hot topic of discussion in the United States. The right of
marriage between man and man or woman and woman is one of the most controversial debates in the
history of America. On several locations around the globe, fore an example in europe, gay marriage is
a legal act. But should homosexuals have the same rights as normal people when it comes to
marriage? A lot of different reasons why gays should not be able to get married, have occurred in this
discussion. Also people around the States walk the streets, demonstrating pro and con due to the
proposal of a law letting gays get married.

Sure enough, all those aspects come in handy when you talk about the practical about marriage, but
only if children are included in the discussion.
Why would people get married otherwise? To seal og refresh the bond between lovers? To get
financial benefits? Is it simply prestigious? The correct answer must be up to each couple to find.
Giving that marriage is not a way to get a child, why should gay people get married? But then again
why would non homosexuals get married? In the United States, the wedding of a couple is a major
cultural and religious event. We know that the christian church and belief does not applaud
homosexuality, so why should the gays have access to marriage? Of course they should have access to
marriage. But maybe not in the church.
A religious marriage, must at all time be for the religious people. Meaning that one christian would
never host a islamic wedding and the other way around. There are certain rules in each religion which
must be followed. Like laws in the society, there are rules in the churches.
You would not question that stealing in a shop is wrong or/and illegal, so why question the rules of a
private club, which the churches actually are. Sure, anyone can attend any church, but the rules have
been made, and that forces the attendants to follow the rules set by the church.
Because homosexuality is a sin, gays and lesbians cannot be married in the holy

The Pros And Cons Of College Education
This past summer I graduated High School and this past school year I had to give a lot of thought
where I would like to go to college or if even going to college was the correct choice for me.
However, I did start preparing for college at the beginning of High School as the concept and need of
college was instilled within me by most of my family and those at school from a young age as they
tended to say education was my ticket and it would take me far in life. However is the higher
education and experience one gains through college worth the large amount of debt one will most
likely take on in order to go to college? This topic I find to be very interesting and to resonate rather
deeply with me as while many of my friends decided to follow my same path, deciding to go on to
higher education almost as many decide not to go to college. This could have been from a multitude of
reasons from not being able to afford college to not feeling they have the aptitude and commitment to
do college. I took the time to analyze the question Is college worth it? with two sources, both
pertaining to whether college is really worth the investment of time and money one puts into it. I
found two articles Is College worth it? and College: Who profits? which both help to analyze the pros
and cons of college along analyzing various statistics pertaining to college. They both seem to be
rather useful with one being more of a report on a book and the other being an article about a report.
The first source I analyzed was Is College Worth it? Written by Michelle Adam and published by The
Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education. Adam reports on a recent question Is College Worth it? which
was analyzed and asked by the Pew Research center. Adam noted throughout the source numerous
surveys and statistics, which the Pew Research used to help answer their question. One such survey
noted that 57% of people surveyed did not find they got good value for their money with higher
education, 75% said college was too expensive for many Americans, and yet 86% of college grads
said it was a good investment for them personally with 94% of parents claiming they expected their
child to go to college. Adam also noted that within the survey

Making this happen is never easy, but it can t be done at all without leaders who have the authority to
break the ties between groups and individuals who have different visions of what should be done.
There is no better way to do this than through traditional hierarchy. Along with that, it may not be
cost, time or quality abiding to let everyone roam free without direction. The right blend and balance
for any one particular organization will depend on the pace of change in the industry, the capabilities
of the employees, and the resources available to take action. The need for leadership will always exist.
There will always be a need for visionaries, people who can influence others, and people who can
execute. Cons. While hierarchies were the favored form of organizing in the past, they should not be
the key design in business. Hierarchies, characterized by tight controls, centralized decision making,
and clear cut job descriptions, often alienate employees and promote an individualistic work mentality.
Traditional management systems are increasingly a vanishing breed, no longer valuable or relevant in
today s increasingly human capital centric workplace. The lack of job descriptions, flatter
organizations, and flexible approach would likely fit better for organizational environments that are
new, immature, or very rapidly evolving. With a lightning fast pace of change, constraining job

The Addiction Of Percy Jackson And The Lightning Thief
Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief is based in the real world, with Greek mythology mixed into
the storyline. Percy, son of Poseidon, must rescue his mother from Hades as well as preventing a feud
from erupting between the Gods on Mount Olympus that would wreak havoc on the Earth. During this
quest Percy Jackson and his friends are invited into the Lotus Hotel and Casino. There they are
engaged in playing games and start to lose track of time, similar to losing oneself in a casino in the

casinos in order to keep as many patrons for as long as possible. Casinos are an addicting technology,
they are built for people to step inside and never want to leave. Casinos have been articulated with
concepts of gambling addiction and people s reluctance to step away from the games, whether it is
written in a book or studied in real life. Percy Jackson and his friends are invited into a casino and
before long are addicted to the flashing lights and the winning that the casinos offer, despite the notion
that they are being given thousands of dollars of free stuff, they are already being mind controlled into

He felt that there was a need to change the day to day operation of the US government from a
corruptive agency spiraling into a web of bureaucratic mess to a more productive governing system
supported by the an administrative base that will be able to enforce public interest and policy. This
scholar and later President wrote that there should be a science of administration which shall seek to
straighten the paths of government, to make its business less unbusinesslike ; to strengthen and purify
its organization, and to crown its duties with dutifulness (Stillman page 8). Apparently, Woodrow
Wilson favored the private sector s interest in businesslike operations and its efficiency as a way to run
the government and its agency. From his 1887 essay, he favored the idea of concentrating power in a
single authority atop a highly integrated centralized administrative structure (Denhardt page 2).

The Life Of Lise Meitner
The Life of Lise Meitner
In the beginning of the life of one of the most significant female scientist to date, there was obscurity.
Born in Vienna, Austria on November 7th of 1878 during turmoil of war and persecution that would
seem to not cease throughout her life, she was bound to surpass her limitations as a necessity to
prosper the scientific status. Born the third child out of eight in a Jewish family, she still was not one
to go unnoticed or to be persuaded, as a strong minded individual tends to be. At the time of her birth,
her family was fairly wealthy, and though of Jewish background, did not practice the religious beliefs
of the Jewish heritage. This meant that although she was Austrian in nationality, her ancestors
practiced the Jewish way of life, yet it was not as discernable in Meitner or her direct family. Her
mother Hedwig Skovran, a musician, was not well known but of enough skill to continue the
occupation, while her father, Philipp Meitner, was a lawyer and a master of chess. Her siblings, much
like her parents, grew up to be detached from the Jewish culture, which would lead them towards
Christianity during a time of maltreatment of those of Jewish features or religion. This change of
religious beliefs would be reflected in Meitner as well in 1908 at the age of thirty as she converted to
the Lutheran church. This change of religious practice would not make a difference after the rise of
Hitler, which catalyzed the already present disfavor towards the

Benefits Of Living In A Shared House In College
Living in a shared house while you are in college is for sure your life experience. Either you have
great, good or not that good experience, there is a high possibility that what you experience in a shared
house remain in your memories for the rest of your life. One of the reasons might be the fact that you
have to live with people that probably you had never seen before. Moreover, those people can be from
different parts of the country. But whatever the reason, anyone who study far from his or her
hometown has a strong impact on his or her life, where very positive o very negative.
When a person move to another city because of college, positively influenced by the change. First of

despite the fact that they are in the same country and even in the same region, there are slight cultural

Questions On Gross Receipts Tax
b. New Mexico
i. Gross Receipts Tax Generally
The state gross receipts tax is a tax on the privilege of engaging in business in New Mexico. Engaging
in business means carrying on or causing to be carried on any activity with the purpose of direct or
indirect benefit, with certain exceptions inapplicable to the Company s facts. The tax is assessed
against the gross proceeds of a business.
For purposes of the GRT, a presumption exists that all receipts of a person engaging in business are
subject to the GRT, unless the taxpayer can make an affirmative showing that the receipts are not
taxable. The taxpayer bears the burden of proving any exemption or deduction.

The court stated that the [a]doption of the destination principle does not require us to construe the
gross receipts tax to include principles of transfer of title, transfer of possession, or risk of loss, which
are concepts that were not included in the language employed by our legislature. Therefore, we hold
that the destination principle applies to determine whether an interstate transaction is a taxable sale
under our gross receipts tax laws. While the court does not hold the principles of transfer of title,
transfer of possession, or risk of loss as dispositive, they are certainly important in analyzing the situs
of the sale. iii. Transactions in the Stream of Interstate Commerce
A deduction is allowed from the gross receipts tax for receipts from transactions in interstate
commerce if the imposition of the tax would be unlawful under the Constitution. Presumably, to the
extent that taxation of receipts derived from transactions in foreign commerce would violate the
Constitution, one may conclude that New Mexico could not impose its gross receipts tax.
The deduction for receipts derived from transactions in interstate commerce has been a part of the
gross receipts tax for many years. Contemporary commerce clause doctrine has held that there is no
bar to the imposition of a state s tax on income or receipts from a transaction merely because a
transaction is in interstate commerce, as long as certain requirements are met.

this as morally wrong, because she viewed this action as her duty, which she could not refuse (Lower,

their sense of duty. Once again, Lower recounts another individual s recollection of her experience
during the war:
I seldom came into contact with other women, so that in the course of this time I became more

William Domhoff s Who Rules America Essay
Reading G. William Domhoff s Who Rules America?: The Triumph of the Corporate Rich was an
intriguing and challenging experience for me. My limited knowledge base of the American political
class system mostly stems from high school US History classes and listening to my mom s stories of
her experiences in the corporate world. Therefore, I am aware that due to my prior lack of knowledge
on the topics presented in Domhoff s book, I may have misjudged some of his finer points. Part of my
struggles may be largely due to the fact that Domhoff s intended audience for Who Rules America? is
other experts in the field of understanding the sociology of the corporate elite and their resources of
power. However, I believe that the book has given me a better, if not complete, understanding of the
corporate elite and how they stay in power.
I found the book to be extremely well researched. When Domhoff presents a point, he uses several
sources and logical reasons to back up his theory. For example, when relating the dominance of the
political elite on the government, Domhoff examines the amount of influence the corporate rich have
in our judicial system by investigating the nine Supreme Court judges during the Obama
administration. He discovered that all of them graduated from one of three elite institutions: Harvard,
Yale, or Columbia (Domhoff, 178, 2014). Domhoff treats most of his assertions in a similar fashion;
he uses extensive research backs up his claims. The book explains the

Parental Involvement In The Longitudinal Study
Introduction
Parental involvement is vital in creating an environment for the student to thrive and succeed in.
Parents are the primary caregivers and crucial assets in a child s academic life. The parent child
relationship is very important because children tend to view their parents as being the most important
role models in their lives. It is important to establish parent teacher collaboration because it allows the
parent and teacher to connect in the best interest of the child. Based on the Longitudinal studies which
focus on changes in behavior over time the findings of whether family involvement have a lasting
impact on children s academic achievements showed that the children in the study was more
motivated, and academically did well across all grades. The Longitudinal studies indicated that early
family has potential to influence children s academic achievement across grades. ( Coleman 2013, p.
52). The first parent teacher conference of the school year my daughter received 2 s in english and
math on her report card as well as 3 s in gym and music. When I sat down to talk to the teacher I was

Attempts to Connect in Joyce Carol Oates Shopping Essay
Attempts to Connect in Shopping
Although Shopping, written by Joyce Carol Oates, is fiction, the story portrays a relationship that
represents many parents and children have in real life. The child is growing up and wants to spread her
wings. However, the parent usually does not want to let go. Arguments and the awkward silences are
frequent. The seemingly useless attempts to connect with the son or daughter are also frequent. Yet,
what the child does not realize is that no matter how old she may get, she is still the parent s child. The

story. Oates uses references to pregnancy to portray the relationship between mother and ... Show

she was pregnant. She knew it would be a girl and that her baby would be herself again, reborn and
this time perfect (838). She referred to herself as someone who has failed in life. She saw her daughter
as an image of herself, but she did not want her daughter to live a life of failure like her. She hoped her
daughter would not grow to become the type of person that she disliked. She wanted her to be perfect .
Later in the story, while Nola is looking at herself in the mirror, Mrs. Dietrich again pictures herself as
pregnant. She liked how pregnancy seemed to bring everything to the present tense. Mrs. Dietrich
longs to have that feeling of when she and her daughter were one again (838 9). At the end, Nola
begins to cry when she sees an old disheveled woman. Mrs. Dietrich s

I am pleased and more than grateful to see that my customized plan is successful, and took effect in different aspects of my well being. I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become , I believe this quote by Carl Jung encapsulated why my health improvement plan would work determination incorporated into a personalized plan. Hereinafter, I would like to discuss in details what and why had my behavior changes improved both my short term and long term health. I followed the Copenhagen diet a thirteen day diet to lose weight and improve metabolism. I started this diet on the start of semester, giving myself a week time to bid farewell to my ravenous appetite, before disciplining myself to go through the diet. It was extremely difficult for the first few days, I was constantly hungry and was craving for snacks between meals. Through the course readings, text, and concepts, the authors have inspired me to seek more knowledge. It has stimulated self introspection, an analysis of my experiences, and a desire to further examine my life. I am convinced that my inherited narrative is my tradition of faith. My faith gives me purpose, allowing me to connect to life, as I write my narrative and personally extract the significance of tradition that measures my completeness, proving that my living is not in vain. Since my youth, I have been on a quest to find my place in this world curious and questioning always, the reason and meaning of my life, while at the same time partaking in this overwhelming feeling of loving God, and having a purpose. Never minding those around me, but pondering what am I here for? Why am I am special? Spironolactone is a nonselective aldosterone receptor antagonist marketed since the 1960s and bears structural similarity to progesterone resulting in sex steroid receptor cross reactivity. This is responsible for anti androgen and anti progesterone adverse effects seen in treated individuals. Canrenone, marketed as principle active metabolite of spironolactone, is devoid of significant first pass metabolism and has a substantially longer t ½ as compared to the parent molecule (16.5 hours vs 1.4 hours). It has also been reported to have a lower incidence of antiandrogenic adverse reactions despite being a non selective MRA. Eplerenone, a spironolactone derivative, in contrast is a selective aldosterone receptor antagonist with lower affinity for the progesterone and androgen receptors and consequently is devoid of related adverse effects. Eplerenone is primarily metabolized in the liver by cytochrome P450 (CYP3A4 isoenzyme) and is therefore subject to interactions with CYP3A4 inhibitors as well as inducers. Tagore is a man who believed that the current educational system is poisoning children s minds, due to the lack of creativity the child receives when learning from non active lectures. Tagore starts by giving his life story of when he was a child. However, He describes his schooling atmosphere as a type of prison where the only way for him to escape was to finish learning as soon as possible. Because Tagore had despised the educational system, he had created his own school, where students would learn in a natural atmosphere. To do this, he implemented dramatic performances, decorations for the different seasons, and brought in musicians to play freely amongst the school. Even Tagore had produced his own songs and writings to show his students the lively atmosphere of school. He believed that schooling should not be a prison, but a way for many to come together and understand other s in the fullest sense. Dolphins can hold their breath for up to several minutes and are capable of rapid and deep dives of more then 1,000 ft. Dolphins once were hunted commercially, for the small quantity of valuable oil extracted from parts of the head and used to lubricated delicate watch mechanisms. Since cheaper oils have now been found from other sources, dolphins are no longer hunted for this reason. Many dolphins, however, become accidentally trapped and drowned in tuna nets. Between the years 1959 and 1972 an estimated 4.8 million dolphins died this way (www.thedolphinplace.com/facts.html). Because of the pressure from animal rights activists and United States consumers, both domestic and international tuna canners have refused to accept shipments from fishing fleets that do not protect dolphins. We know that the christian church and belief does not applaud homosexuality, so why should the gays have access to marriage? Of course they should have access to marriage. But maybe not in the church. A religious marriage, must at all time be for the religious people. Meaning that one christian would never host a islamic wedding and the other way around. There are certain rules in each religion which must be followed. Like laws in the society, there are rules in the churches. You would not question that stealing in a shop is wrong or/and illegal, so why question the rules of a private club, which the churches actually are. • 31. The Pros And Cons Of College Education This past summer I graduated High School and this past school year I had to give a lot of thought where I would like to go to college or if even going to college was the correct choice for me. However, I did start preparing for college at the beginning of High School as the concept and need of college was instilled within me by most of my family and those at school from a young age as they tended to say education was my ticket and it would take me far in life. However is the higher education and experience one gains through college worth the large amount of debt one will most likely take on in order to go to college? This topic I find to be very interesting and to resonate rather deeply with me as while many of my friends decided to follow my same path, deciding to go on to higher education almost as many decide not to go to college. This could have been from a multitude of reasons from not being able to afford college to not feeling they have the aptitude and commitment to do college. I took the time to analyze the question Is college worth it? with two sources, both pertaining to whether college is really worth the investment of time and money one puts into it. I found two articles Is College worth it? and College: Who profits? which both help to analyze the pros and cons of college along analyzing various statistics pertaining to college. They both seem to be rather useful with one being more of a report on a book and the other being an article about a report. The first source I analyzed was Is College Worth it? Written by Michelle Adam and published by The Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education. Adam reports on a recent question Is College Worth it? which was analyzed and asked by the Pew Research center. Adam noted throughout the source numerous surveys and statistics, which the Pew Research used to help answer their question. One such survey noted that 57% of people surveyed did not find they got good value for their money with higher education, 75% said college was too expensive for many Americans, and yet 86% of college grads said it was a good investment for them personally with 94% of parents claiming they expected their child to go to college. The right blend and balance for any one particular organization will depend on the pace of change in the industry, the capabilities of the employees, and the resources available to take action. Born in Vienna, Austria on November 7th of 1878 during turmoil of war and persecution that would seem to not cease throughout her life, she was bound to surpass her limitations as a necessity to prosper the scientific status. Born the third child out of eight in a Jewish family, she still was not one to go unnoticed or to be persuaded, as a strong minded individual tends to be. At the time of her birth, her family was fairly wealthy, and though of Jewish background, did not practice the religious beliefs of the Jewish heritage. This meant that although she was Austrian in nationality, her ancestors practiced the Jewish way of life, yet it was not as discernable in Meitner or her direct family. Her mother Hedwig Skovran, a musician, was not well known but of enough skill to continue the occupation, while her father, Philipp Meitner, was a lawyer and a master of chess. Her siblings, much like her parents, grew up to be detached from the Jewish culture, which would lead them towards Christianity during a time of maltreatment of those of Jewish features or religion. This change of religious beliefs would be reflected in Meitner as well in 1908 at the age of thirty as she converted to the Lutheran church. The tax is assessed against the gross proceeds of a business. For purposes of the GRT, a presumption exists that all receipts of a person engaging in business are subject to the GRT, unless the taxpayer can make an affirmative showing that the receipts are not taxable. Therefore, we hold that the destination principle applies to determine whether an interstate transaction is a taxable sale under our gross receipts tax laws. While the court does not hold the principles of transfer of title, transfer of possession, or risk of loss as dispositive, they are certainly important in analyzing the situs of the sale. iii. My limited knowledge base of the American political class system mostly stems from high school US History classes and listening to my mom s stories of her experiences in the corporate world. Therefore, I am aware that due to my prior lack of knowledge on the topics presented in Domhoff s book, I may have misjudged some of his finer points.
