Persuasive Essay On Hollywood Scandal
Ever since Harvey Weinstein s extensive history of sexual harassment and sexual abuse finally came
to light thanks to some very brave women, Hollywood has been in an uproar. The problem with this,
besides the obvious violent and disturbing acts that have occurred, is this is not at all surprising. Do
you remember when Bill Cosby was exposed and accused of drugging and raping over 50 women?
What about when Roman Polanski drugged and raped an underage girl in the 1970 s, fled to Europe,
but still got to make movies that won Academy Awards. More Hollywood Abuse Scandal: Why Is

Comparing Which Pinter And Larkin Show The Pressures Of...
Compare and contrast the ways in which Pinter and Larkin show the pressures of modern life on the
individual
In both The Caretaker and Larkin s Collected Poems, Pinter and Larkin frequently paint their
characters to live in a relentless state of fear and anguish caused often by the pressures of the external
world. In this critical understanding of both writers, I will explore how the variations of pressures
from modern life effecting and potentially harming individuals. The Caretaker and Collected Poems
were both written in the 1960 s. The Swinging Sixties was a revolutionary time, with the introduction
to new influential music, the contraceptive pill and iconic fashion. These thriving characteristics
defined the hedonistic era we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mr Bleaney deals with a similar situation of characters residing in a fixed mind set that leads to
stagnant life. The speaker discusses similar physical restrictions and issues that he and Mr Bleaney
face living in the small cramped flat. The speaker reflects Where Mr Bleaney lay, and stub my fags on
the same saucer souvenir . Both men share the same dismal habits showing negligence they have for
their futures. The concept of self induced entrapment within a safe sanctuary is brought upon both
characters, showing no real desire to expand to the exterior world. In comparison, Aston in The
Caretaker resides in a safe sanctuary of his home and loyalty of the shed concept. As a victim of
electrotherapy, Aston is scared from the dangers of society s pressures on him, so he constantly keeps
himself busy with trivial tasks to keep his mind at rest. Pinter s stage directions support Aston anxious
habits, Aston crosses to the plug box to get another plug during one of Davies excessively bogus
stories, then later goes back to the bed just to fidget with the new plug. Critic here supporting Aston s
nervous ticks and reasoning behind it
Towards the end of the Mr Bleaney, Larkin potentially acknowledges that living in fear is a life
wasted. As the poem is retrospective, the speaker proclaims, That how we live measures our own
nature , as for Mr Bleaney who lived in trepidation of existence beyond his measly flat, has wasted his
life. The speaker reflects,

Los Angeles Riots Of 1992 Essay
It was the evening of August 9th 2014, when a small town erupted in a state of chaos. St. Louis
County, Missouri was in a state of emergency as social riots spread. Belligerent men and women of all
ages, storm around town, destroying all that they can put their hands on. Private businesses are burnt
down and the windows of parked vehicles are shattered. Hateful slurs are graffitied around town, with
sayings like, fuck the police, and the only good cop is a dead cop. Rocks are thrown and police
officers use tear gas to control the growing crowd. Concerned locals lock themselves in their homes
hoping for the craziness to die down. In what seems to be a twisted dream, society as we know it, has
turned into a battle field.
A riot can be defined as the violent disturbance of society s peace, it is also known as the violent
version of a protest. Riots are often referred to as urban riots, due to most riots being in cities filled
with poverty. In the midst of an urban riot, you will likely see public buildings being destroyed and/or
physical altercations between two social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Los Angeles Riots of 1992 was a public outcry after 26 year old African American, Rodney King,
was severely beaten by white police officers. Four policemen were caught on surveillance, beating
Rodney King after a high speed police pursuit. The police officers were eventually acquitted of their
crimes, initiating a violent protest. Outraged civilians destroyed public property and physically
assaulted innocent bystanders. The actions that took place in Los Angeles shocked the world.
Referring back to the definition of a riot, African Americans across the country felt betrayed by the
justice system. It was assumed that the troopers would be charged for assault, especially since it was
caught on film. When justice was not served, violence erupted in an attempt to gain a reaction from

Paul Alludes To The Paradox Of The Natural And The...
make it happen ourselves.
The wind of the Spirit blows where it will. (John 3:8) Paul alludes to the paradox of the natural and
the supernatural by using two metaphors. The first is the process by which an embryo is formed in its
mother s womb: I am in labor until Christ be formed (morphoo) in you. Even though human beings
have their part to play in conceiving and giving birth to children and even though we think we
understand certain facts about it there is something that remains a mystery. No matter how much we
think we understand it, the process of conception and birth is always a miracle. It is something God
does.
It is the same with the process of metamorphosis, to which Paul refers in Romans 12:2. Do not be

He is saying that we can be intentional about creating the conditions for transformation by engaging
disciplines that help us surrender ourselves to God not just in theory but in reality. As Richard Foster
describes it, [Spiritual] disciplines are the main way we offer our bodies up to God as a living
sacrifice. We are doing what we can do with our bodies, our minds, and our hearts. God then take this
simple offering of ourselves and does with it what we cannot do, producing within us deeply ingrained
habits of love and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. (Renovare Perspective, April 1999)
The Necessity of Community. Spiritual transformation takes place incrementally over time with others
in the context of disciplines and practices that open us to God. In general, while we are still on this
earth, our transformation will happen by degrees (II Corinthians 3:18) But we all, with unveiled face,
beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory
to glory, just as from the Lord, the

Examples Of Racism In The Play Fences
When you look at field of dandelions, you can either see a hundred weeds, or a thousand wishes... It s
known as perspective in which, I have learned that two people can look at the exact say thing and see
something totally different. In Fences and Say yes , both authors reveal that different perspectives
about race create conflict with those that you love.
The overall play Fences, deals with racism in various types of ways. In the play fences the perspective
on racism has trickled down from generation to generation. Firstly before Troy even knew what
racism was his father was greatly affected by it. Troy s father was profoundly affected by slavery
during his time of life. Troy said that all his father wanted was for them to learn how to walk so they
could work. The only thing my daddy cared about about was getting them bales of cotton in to Mr.
Lubin, this shows how slavery and racism greatly affected Troy s father. Due to his father being so
caught up in his work he treated Troy and his siblings very poorly, which kind of influenced Troy s
views on white people.
Troy and his son Cory have a really heavily impacted love hate relationship. Troy and Cory both view
racism and white people in various types of ways. Firstly on page 2 Troy states Why you got the white
mens driving and the colored lifting, this already shows a discrepancy that Troy has towards white
people. Troy views him and his friends unequally to the white people in the society during the time
period. Now Troy sees that he has a lack of equality compared to white people. Did white people feel
they had more privilege compared to blacks? It s just a perspective that Troy has about white people
right off the back, now he later runs into some conflict with his loved ones.
One of the biggest disagreement points in the story revolved around Cory wanting to pursue his dream
in college football due to the scholarship he had been offered. The white man ain t gonna let him get
nowhere with that football, said troy, again this quote shows a lack of trust in white people as he
believes that one of the white recruiters won t really take Cory and that Cory will never make a living
out of it. What Troy does not understand is that times

Pascal s Wager Rhetorical Analysis
Pascal acknowledges that a belief in God s existence cannot be supported by argument or evidence,
but claims that religious belief is a rational necessity. This essay will address how Pascal presents his
argument, and how it is in our interest to believe in god. I will argue that Pascal s Wager has
weaknesses due to its reliance on an overly simplistic judgement, and will contemplate how Pascal
may reply to such criticisms. I will conclude with an evaluation that questions why a believer is
superior to a disbeliever, and whether one can truly coerce themselves to believe in god s existence.
Pascal s Wager is the attempt to justify belief in the Christian God not with an appeal to evidence for
his existence but rather with an appeal to self interest. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pascal s Wager exclusively addresses the Christian God out of an infinite number of possible Gods.
With no further information, the laws of probability mean that inadvertently worshiping the wrong
God is a practical certainty. Only when the probability of a particular God existing increases does
Pascal s Wager become viable, that is, if one God could be proven to have higher likelihood of
existing than any other God, Pascal s Wager would represent a clear benefit. Seeing as no god is
empirically provable, the most rational decision would be to choose the religion that rewards believers
with the best heaven, and disbelievers with the worse hell. In that case we should chose to worship the
Invisible Pink Unicorns (IPU) because they have an infinite bad hell and an infinitely wonderful
heaven. Considering that this theory cannot be disproven, if the probability is only close to zero we
still have infinite gain/loss since infinity times any positive value is still infinity. Hence for anyone
constrained by a bias towards a particular God, the Wager will suit their belief. However rationality
suggests that wagering solely for the Christian God is not your best

Heathcliff In Emily Bronte s Romeo And Juliet
AP English IV Research Paper
Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte and Romeo in Romeo and Juliet by William
Shakespeare share similar all consuming, infatuous relationships that negatively impact their lives.
Both couples are used by the authors to express the destructive nature of obsessive relationships and
how they can determine one s fate. In both stories, love drives the characters into madness and death.
In Romeo and Juliet, Romeo s obsession with Juliet ultimately leads to his demise when he believes
he will be separated from her. When Romeo learns of his banishment he throws himself to the ground,
his abject posture symbolizing the topsy turvy state of a soul no longer led by reason (Andrews).

her presence. After Catherine s death, Heathcliff becomes a shadow of what a human being should be

brave because she was not scared to die when breaking the women s altitude recorder. Amelia started

Climate Change Action Is The Un, And Unfccc
EU actorness in tackling climate change The most significant existing platform for climate change
action is the UN, and UNFCCC in particular. The essay will now move on to the overall assessment of
the evolution of the EU actorness in the climate change policy area during 1990 2000s, and, in the
process, focus on the case study of the 2009 Copenhagen Climate Summit (also known as COP15).
COP15 is a particularly interesting case to review when analysing the EU actorness in this area due to
the fact that EU s performance is mostly assessed as disappointing. Thus, it is an opportunity to take a
closer look at the correlation of actorness and effectiveness, explore which actorness criteria caused

coherence but less favourable external factors for the EU international actorness (Pavese and Torney
2012, p.136). The Copenhagen Climate Summit, however, demonstrates that both EU actorness and
external developments had an impact on its weak outcomes. The recognition criterion at COP15 is
fulfilled and does not cause any debate as the EU played a key part in the development of the
UNFCCC. The EC was de jure recognised as a full UNFCCC member from the very beginning. Even
though de facto recognition is not entirely dependent on the de jure recognition, in the case of COP15
it recognition may be assessed as considerable as the third parties perceived the EU as an important
actor and entity with the competence to negotiate. As for the authority, although technically the
Council could authorise the Commission to speak for the EC (Delreux 2006, p. 238), due to climate
change action being the area of shared competence involving taxation and energy policy, the EU was
represented by the rotating presidency (Lacasta, Dessai and Powroslo 2002, p.369). In bilateral
discussions, the EU was represented by the Troika (the Council Presidency, the Commission and

Aerospace Engineering
While the field of engineering is immensely broad, mechanical engineering is known to be one of the
most fundamental engineering disciplines as well as one of the oldest. Mechanical engineering
involves the design and study of objects or machinery and their motion. It includes the details of the
materials used to build these objects and the processes involved in the building. The discipline itself is
also a very broad area of study because within mechanical engineering are more specific studies such
as aerospace engineering, biomechanical engineering, mechatronics, acoustic engineering and thermal
engineering to name only a few. Each of the areas of mechanical engineering have contributed almost
limitlessly to every aspect of life although ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mechanical engineering is the foundation for this area because it involves aspects such as propulsion
and dynamics (Long). Aerospace engineering consists of two main areas, aeronautical engineering and
astronautical engineering which focuses on the space aspect of the branch. The first major step in
aerospace engineering took place at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina in 1903 when the Wright brothers
flew the first powered aircraft paving the way for the advancements that came to be in such a short
period of time. Within a little over one hundred years, the aviation industry has gone from the first
flight lasting about 12 seconds at approximately 6 knots to having thousands of flights daily lasting
hours at a time at speeds in excess of 300 knots (thewrightbrothers.org). Aerospace engineering has
also allowed mankind to explore above and beyond our world. Thanks to space travel, scientists with
agencies such as NASA have been able to study more about our solar system and other galaxies with
spacecraft such as the space shuttles and telescopes such as the Hubble Telescope. Within the same
one hundred years, all of these accomplishments have been made. Therefore aerospace engineering is
an important branch of mechanical

Dance Monologue
For as long as I can remember, I have always been fascinated with dance, especially ballet. As a child
I would stand in front of the TV, watching ballerinas in tutus twirl across the stage, attempting to copy
their leaps and pirouettes. I dreamed about the possibility of that dancer being me one day. I had no
idea how much that dream would eventually shape my life.
In sixth grade, I began ballet. I had no idea how challenging ballet could be, but I also had no idea
how much I would grow to love it. And that love is what gave me the determination to keep growing,
and keep advancing, no matter how hard it got.
Once I entered high school I would often spend 20+ hours a week at my dance studio teaching classes,
taking as many classes as I could, and training by myself whenever the studio was open. I joined a
dance performance company, and each year I trained for the Royal Academy of Dance dance
examinations. Ballet became a huge part of my life, and it taught me many more lessons than just how
to plié or pirouette. It taught me determination, commitment, and what it means to follow a passion. ...

The Taiping Rebellion And The French Revolution
Throughout history, rebellions and revolutions shaped societies and created better conditions for the
people of those societies. The Taiping Rebellion and the French Revolution successfully shaped their
societies by means of political and social reforms. They were both influenced to later achieve their
unique successes because of a multitude of pushing factors, such as the existing social and political
conditions of China and France. Natural disasters, breaking away from tradition, and China s loss in
the Opium War contributed to the ideology of the Taiping Rebellion; to restore China to its previous
greatness and overthrowing the government. Likewise in France the conditions were not any better.
Hunger and poverty were rampant in the cities of France. Bankruptcy and a corrupt government only
made things worst. These conditions set the foundation for the ideology of the French Revolution;
acquiring liberty, equality, and fraternity. Together, each of these societies found their successes in
different ways. France created major changes in the government and legal system which were more
immediate and apparent than in China, where they achieved successes that took longer to become
apparent, and is viewed as more effective in a long term point of view. Previous political conditions
played major roles, as it fueled the need for change within these communities. In China, the Ch ing

Safe Deposit Box Essay
In the initial stages of claiming the assets, everything was going well until I found out that the

The correlations between all variables were computed by applying the Pearson product moment
method. The correlations among all the variables are presented in Table 1. Variables measured in this
study, namely, Attitude, Subjective Norms and Self Efficacy demonstrated strong and positive
correlation with Intention to enlist. With respect to Attitude towards military, the four dimensions such
as Evaluation of working Condition and benefits, Self and physical development, Perceived risk, and
Teamwork and patriotism was found to be positively related with intention to enlist in military.
Subjective norm for military enlistment was positively correlated with intention to enlist in military. In
addition, there was a positive relationship between intention to enlist and a person s self efficacy.
Hence, overall relationship indicates the model showed a strong and positive relationship to intention.

how warfare is fought. Robots lacking the emotional factor makes decisions and actions dangerous
because there will no longer be the empathy when taking lives, which creates a greater separation

humans would no longer have to see death or destruction caused by war, it would no longer be

While experts disagree with how many jobs will be lost due to intelligent machines, most experts
would at least agree that jobs will greatly be impacted by automation becoming more prevalent in all
fields of the labor force. In society, there is already a much wider range of application of machine
intelligence to tasks traditionally done by humans than many people realize (Cameron 14). Labor has
already started going down in some workplaces where automation has taking over and reports from
Bloomberg believe that machines could, replace up to have the US workforce within the next decade

current recession and depression of the thirties would look like a joke when compared. Humans could
become obsolete in the workforce. General A.I. could decide that humans are not as effective as robots

Polar Bear Is The Largest Land Carnivore
There may be other bears in the arctic, but the polar bear is the largest land carnivore in the Arctic
wilderness. The polar bear may look like any other bear, but they are unique in their own way, such as
their characteristics and behavior . The polar bear, has unique characteristics that make it stand out the
most compared to the other bears in its taxonomic group. The taxonomic group that the polar bear
falls under is the Ursidae Group ( Tanya Dewey and Phil Myers). Breaking it down even further it
goes down to genus, the genus of the polar bear is Ursus and it is derived from the latin word ursus,
meaning bear. It includes the widely distributed brown bear, polar bear, and black bear. Next, the
species for polar bears are maritimus, which means sea bear (Tanya Dewey and Phil Myer). The polar
bears taxonomic group, genus, and species are all important because they are widely diverse compared
to the other bears in the group. Each bear in the Ursidae Group is unique, but they all have a lot in
common. Bears are strong animals that vary in sizes, but they all have the same strength. They can
range from twenty five to sixty five kilograms or up to eight hundred kilograms (Tanya Dewey and
Phil Myers). In the wild it is most common for the males to be larger than their female counterparts,
sometimes in the wild there could be a male that is twice the size of the female. When looking at each

Farrington s Character Analysis from Joyce s Counterparts
Farrington s character:
Farrington, in The Counterparts, is unquestionably one of the most maligned characters who inhabit
the short stories that comprise Joyce s Dubliners. The infamous conclusion of Counterparts in which
Farrington viciously beats his helpless son with a walking stick after returning from a frustrating day
at work and the pubs seem for some to be more than adequate reasoning for his condemnation. If not,
the description of his son begging him to stop and offering to say a Hail Mary for his sinful father,
seems to clinch the response. However, it is extremely important to remember that Farrington is
sinned against as well as sinning: that he is a product as well as a perpetrator of the paralysis of
Dublin. Like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His anger mounts throughout the story. His pawning of his watch may symbolically release him from
the shackles of schedules and time demands, but the frustrations of work only take on new and more
extreme forms at the pub and at home. For Farrington, life repeats itself: work is like the pub is like
home. Thus the root of Farrington s problem is his inability to realize the maddening circularity that
defines his days. He consistently makes life worse for himself, not better. He slips away from work as
he pleases, insults his boss, and matter of factly pawns his watch to buy alcohol. Though each small
rebellion makes him momentarily happy, the displaced rage simply reappears someplace else, usually
exacerbated by his actions.
Farrington shows what can happen when a life consists primarily of mindless repetition: sooner or
later violence will surface, and those who witness or are subject to the violence may themselves act
violently in the future. Farrington s explosive violence sets him apart from some of the other
characters in Dubliners, who often accept routine and boredom as facts of life and do little to upset the
balance of familiarity and calm they ve established.
Joyce remarked in a letter to Stanislaus, I am no friend of tyranny, as you know, but if many husbands

The House Of The Seven Gables
The house of the Seven Gables, written by Nathaniel Hawthorne, is a gothic fiction novel. The book is
classified as a Romantic by Nathaniel Hawthorne, dark themes and all.
The story begins with Matthew Maule, the first owner of the land, building a house that is considered
less than average compared to the land. A man, Colonel Pyncheon, wants to take the land and build a
house that would be deemed acceptable compared with the beauty of the area around it. To the
Colonel s frustration, Maule refuses to give up the land. Maule s claim is held for the next following
years, up until he is accused of witchcraft. Rumors arose of Pyncheon being the one behind it, and as
he stood at the front of the crowd, Maule cursed him. (4) Right before his lynching, he yells, God will
give him blood to drink! The Colonel continues to watch the lynching seemingly unaffected by the
curse. Once the Colonel takes the land for himself, he has Maules architect son build the house for
him. Right when the building of the mansion begun, the water in the well lost It´s good taste and

Clonal Heterogeneity
Cancer is a systemic disease and advanced cancers can be locally advanced or metastatic. Generally,
the metastatic potential is through to be due to tumor heterogeneities which origin from the differences
generated in the evolution process of cancer itself as well as host microenvironment. The capability of
invasion and metastasis is closely related to cell motility and requires the cytoskeleton that is essential
during mitoses[18]. Since malignancy criteria are mainly related to the phenotype of actively
proliferating cells, metastatic deposits genetically match well differentiated areas of primary and
invasive areas[19]. These factors need attention when planning the evaluation of intratumoral
heterogeneity and detailed specification would be necessary to pinpoint the intratumoral location, to
assess selective process and to analyze pathways[18, 20]. These biological foundations would improve
the therapeutic design and patient s management base on heterogeneity.
The connection between initial stages ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, it should be noted that this approach could only be reliable only where the genetic
compositions of primary and metastatic tumors are similar. In addition, elucidating the key difference
between early and late origin of metastasis initiating cells is pivotal for determining the therapeutic
strategies that target tumor invasion. The question of clonal heterogeneity within metastases remains
unexplored, and, moreover, clonal heterogeneity within primary tumors has limited direct therapeutic
relevance. It should be noted that primary tumors can be successfully removed by surgery in most
cases, but this is most often not the case for metastatic outgrowths. Therefore, elimination of
metastatic clones has to rely on adjuvant therapies, and it is likely that the success of these therapies
will depend on the extent of the heterogeneity of these tumor cell

Superwoman And Lady
Women have had to deal with oppression for centuries. Not being able to speak freely or having the
same privileges as men can take a toll. Even in this day and age, women still face these issues, and for
years, female poets and music artists have used their creativity to express the emotions they keep
bottled up. The writer of the poem Lady, Lady , Anne Spencer, was alive during a time where women
did not have the social status that they possess today. She was an African American poet, and
important figure, during the Harlem Renaissance. Spencer s poems focused mostly on equality, nature,
and women. Both the poem, Lady, Lady and the song Superwoman by Alicia Keys, an African
American song writer, imply resiliency and strength in women who have had to deal with pressures
from the world around them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The narrator speaks of the subject of the poem as having bourne so long the yoke of men. This Lady ,
whom the narrator is referring to, is implied to have had to deal with overwhelmingly harsh men who
have no regard for women s rights. The poet s attitude towards the woman in the poem seems to be
sympathetic because the woman lived a lifetime of unequal treatment and false perceptions because of
her gender, a similar situation for the majority of women in that time. In the song Superwoman , Alicia
Keys writes that she hangs [her] head in sorrow [at the] state of humanity. What the songwriter means
by this is that she is saddened by the situations that women are put through and her lyrics are clearly
more literal regarding her position on the issue of gender equality. The state of humanity is the issue
not being dealt with appropriately, and that society has not changed much concerning the social
superiority of men over women. Although circumstances of the characters in the song and poem are
different, they are both fed up with a male dominated

this problem can be avoided by remaining current with management literature from the field, ensure

Framingham Heart Study Summary
1.) The Framingham Heart Study was a long term observational Study that succeeded so incredibly

construction in order to [transform] a community that might resist medical intrusion to one that would
take pride in the Study (Brink and Levy 58). We see, very notably also, that Meador s success in

in the epistemological the all too subjective pursuance and cultivation of knowledge regarding our

How Does Catullus Poem 64
Poem 64 is one of Catullus most ambitious and complex works. The mini epic comprises of 408 lines,
making it the longest poem of all Catullus works. The poem is written in the dactylic hexameter, the
traditional meter of epic poetry. The poem is further told through ekphrasis an ancient doctrine
denoting any poetic or rhetorical description, including descriptions of landscape, buildings, battles,
and storms.
The focal point of this report will be on the content of poem 64 and how it, reflects Catullus himself

Every corporation must start somewhere meaning they must research where they want to be located.
To find an appropriate location, research is necessary because they cannot just build their business
wherever they want because that can be considered acts of aggression if they do not ask the

Midnight Judges Dbq
In 1800, the Era of Federalist powers over the government finally changed hands to the Democratic
Republicans. Thomas Jefferson s election in 1800 signaled the rise of the Republican party, and the
soon to be demise of the Federalist party, with many judiciary conflicts to come between.
The Judiciary Act of 1801 was an important point of conflict between the Federalists and republicans
during the 19th century, causing heightened tension during the change of party hands, and ultimately
leading to the establishment of judiciary review. On his very last day of presidency, John Adams
commissioned 16 new Federalist judges (also called midnight judges in reference to his last minute
timing) to balance the incoming influx of Republican power in congress. In Republican eyes, the
Judiciary Act was a pathetic final attempt by the Federalist party to establish itself in one of the three
branches of government. Jeffersonians condemned the act, and it was immediately repealed the year

Critique Of Just Mercy Critique
Gurvir Bhullar Ms. Paulsen English 1109 34 4 Nov 2017 Just Mercy Introduction Critique There are
always two sides to an argument, but different people have different opinions on which side is right
and wrong; as a result, we can compare a debate or argument as of a coin, due to the fact that it has
two sides. When it comes to the topic of judicial system in America, most of us will readily agree that
it needs to be reformed. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of who will
step forward and make changes to the court system. Whereas some are convinced that no one is going
to do anything about it, others maintain that the government will be the savior by making the changes.
In the introduction of Just Mercy: A Story of Justice And Redemption, by Bryan Stevenson an
American lawyer, social justice activist, founder and executive director of the Equal Justice Initiative,
and a clinical professor at New York University School of Law Stevenson emphasizes that people are
not being treated fairly in the judicial system of America. The book was written to give readers a close
up look on mass incarceration and extreme punishment given in America. Convincing the readers is
not easy, except if the author uses strategic techniques such as ethos, pathos, and logos. It is even more
tough if the topic is sensitive and debatable as this one. Stevenson used these three techniques in a
variety of different ways to convince the readers. The author starts the

Evaluating Paley s Design Argument
Ultimately, Paley s argument uses an inductive argument to suggest that all things with properties of
intelligence and complexity must have an intelligent designer who designs them for a specific
purpose. When evaluating Paley s design argument, it is evident that it has its flaws. From the
inductive argument presented, objections can be made in the first premise by claiming that not all
processes have a clear purpose. For instance, when natural disasters such as earthquakes and tornadoes
occur, what purpose do they serve exactly, and why would God s work include such disaster? In fact,
that leads us to ask why the universe would be designed with such imperfections? It is these types of
questions that David Hume utilizes to undermine the design ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The dilemma theists are presented with is that if the world has imperfections due to the evil that exists,
which serves no clear purpose, then God, the designer of the world, therefore must be imperfect. But
this is not the image that is to be perceived of God if he were to exist. Instead, God, in the human
mind, would only exist if he was a perfect being. Without the characteristic of a perfect being, one is
able to claim that God does not exist as the designer of the world. However, the main criticism that
Hume proposes is to not claim that it is impossible for God not to exist as a perfect being but rather
our lack of experience in the creation of the world cannot allow us to claim that God is perfect.
Because the design argument is an empirical argument for the existence of God, our experiences with
the world, including those that involve evil, cannot allow us to possibly ignore the fact that God may
not be a perfect being. If this this case, then God s image

Relationship Between Natural Environment And Human Exchange
The relationship between the natural environment and human exchange is one that has been an
ongoing battle of overconsumption and a regulation on natural goods. Human interaction during the
Industrial Revolution spanning from the nineteenth and twentieth century has several contrasting
principles. In the nineteenth century, the excuse of overconsumption was for industrial economic
profit. Humans believed that over using natural resource was acceptable due to the belief that natural
resources were God s gift to man, and God would replenish the natural goods. However, the overuse
of natural goods results in smog, pollution, and water contamination which has various damaging
health effects. In the 20th century, humans were more than aware of the effects that over consumption
produced, but neglected the environment for their own social status and profit. Nevertheless, during
the end of the 20th century, scientific evidence led to widespread awareness of the effects occurring to
the environment, prompting people to make policies to change and protect the environment. This
caused humans to create a relationship with the government and restrict overconsumption. Ultimately,
the first Industrial Revolution during the 19th century, the overuse of technology wasn t perceived as
harmful to the environment. However, in the second Industrial Revolution during the 20th century,
over consumption had external effects that were harmful to the environment, triggering intrusion from

  • 2. Persuasive Essay On Hollywood Scandal Ever since Harvey Weinstein s extensive history of sexual harassment and sexual abuse finally came to light thanks to some very brave women, Hollywood has been in an uproar. The problem with this, besides the obvious violent and disturbing acts that have occurred, is this is not at all surprising. Do you remember when Bill Cosby was exposed and accused of drugging and raping over 50 women? What about when Roman Polanski drugged and raped an underage girl in the 1970 s, fled to Europe, but still got to make movies that won Academy Awards. More Hollywood Abuse Scandal: Why Is Rose McGowan Suspended From Twitter? What I m getting at is there s a long history of Hollywood bigwigs getting away with disgusting acts against women and men, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Those who did come forward were either dragged and ruined through the press, or paid to keep their mouth shut. Here is a current list of the women coming forward against Weinstein: Ashley Judd Emily Nestor Laura Madden Zelda Perkins Rose McGowan (A huge champion) Ambra Battilana Gutierrez Zoe Brock Liza Campbell Louise Godbold Asia Argento Lucia Evans Mira Sorvino Rosanna Arquette Emma de Caunes Jessica Barth Gwyneth Paltrow Judith Godreche Angelina Jolie Katherine Kendall Tomi Ann Roberts Dawn Dunning Heather Graham Romola Garai Louisette Geiss Lauren Sivan Cara Delevingne Lea Seydoux Sarah Ann Masse Kate Beckinsale Various unnamed victims So far, most of these are allegations are only allegation, which is what I have to say because of how the law works, but he admitted to it, admitted he had a problem, the quickly pulled a Polanski and headed to Europe. Also, there s this tape of his extremely aggressive advances on a young model: It s comedically pathetic how bad he wants to get her alone, get drinks in her, threaten her, accuse her of making a scene, and more. I ve never heard such begging in my life like that. She consistently refuses his advances, but he keep coming on with every different type of begging you could think of. What s even scarier is that this woman got away, many of the others weren t so lucky. • 3. Comparing Which Pinter And Larkin Show The Pressures Of... Compare and contrast the ways in which Pinter and Larkin show the pressures of modern life on the individual In both The Caretaker and Larkin s Collected Poems, Pinter and Larkin frequently paint their characters to live in a relentless state of fear and anguish caused often by the pressures of the external world. In this critical understanding of both writers, I will explore how the variations of pressures from modern life effecting and potentially harming individuals. The Caretaker and Collected Poems were both written in the 1960 s. The Swinging Sixties was a revolutionary time, with the introduction to new influential music, the contraceptive pill and iconic fashion. These thriving characteristics defined the hedonistic era we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mr Bleaney deals with a similar situation of characters residing in a fixed mind set that leads to stagnant life. The speaker discusses similar physical restrictions and issues that he and Mr Bleaney face living in the small cramped flat. The speaker reflects Where Mr Bleaney lay, and stub my fags on the same saucer souvenir . Both men share the same dismal habits showing negligence they have for their futures. The concept of self induced entrapment within a safe sanctuary is brought upon both characters, showing no real desire to expand to the exterior world. In comparison, Aston in The Caretaker resides in a safe sanctuary of his home and loyalty of the shed concept. As a victim of electrotherapy, Aston is scared from the dangers of society s pressures on him, so he constantly keeps himself busy with trivial tasks to keep his mind at rest. Pinter s stage directions support Aston anxious habits, Aston crosses to the plug box to get another plug during one of Davies excessively bogus stories, then later goes back to the bed just to fidget with the new plug. Critic here supporting Aston s nervous ticks and reasoning behind it Towards the end of the Mr Bleaney, Larkin potentially acknowledges that living in fear is a life wasted. As the poem is retrospective, the speaker proclaims, That how we live measures our own nature , as for Mr Bleaney who lived in trepidation of existence beyond his measly flat, has wasted his life. • 4. Los Angeles Riots Of 1992 Essay It was the evening of August 9th 2014, when a small town erupted in a state of chaos. St. Louis County, Missouri was in a state of emergency as social riots spread. Belligerent men and women of all ages, storm around town, destroying all that they can put their hands on. Private businesses are burnt down and the windows of parked vehicles are shattered. Hateful slurs are graffitied around town, with sayings like, fuck the police, and the only good cop is a dead cop. Rocks are thrown and police officers use tear gas to control the growing crowd. Concerned locals lock themselves in their homes hoping for the craziness to die down. In what seems to be a twisted dream, society as we know it, has turned into a battle field. A riot can be defined as the violent disturbance of society s peace, it is also known as the violent version of a protest. Riots are often referred to as urban riots, due to most riots being in cities filled with poverty. In the midst of an urban riot, you will likely see public buildings being destroyed and/or physical altercations between two social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Los Angeles Riots of 1992 was a public outcry after 26 year old African American, Rodney King, was severely beaten by white police officers. Four policemen were caught on surveillance, beating Rodney King after a high speed police pursuit. The police officers were eventually acquitted of their crimes, initiating a violent protest. Outraged civilians destroyed public property and physically assaulted innocent bystanders. The actions that took place in Los Angeles shocked the world. Referring back to the definition of a riot, African Americans across the country felt betrayed by the justice system. It was assumed that the troopers would be charged for assault, especially since it was caught on film. • 5. Paul Alludes To The Paradox Of The Natural And The... make it happen ourselves. The wind of the Spirit blows where it will. (John 3:8) Paul alludes to the paradox of the natural and the supernatural by using two metaphors. The first is the process by which an embryo is formed in its mother s womb: I am in labor until Christ be formed (morphoo) in you. Even though human beings have their part to play in conceiving and giving birth to children and even though we think we understand certain facts about it there is something that remains a mystery. No matter how much we think we understand it, the process of conception and birth is always a miracle. It is something God does. It is the same with the process of metamorphosis, to which Paul refers in Romans 12:2. Do not be conformed to this world ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He is saying that we can be intentional about creating the conditions for transformation by engaging disciplines that help us surrender ourselves to God not just in theory but in reality. As Richard Foster describes it, [Spiritual] disciplines are the main way we offer our bodies up to God as a living sacrifice. We are doing what we can do with our bodies, our minds, and our hearts. God then take this simple offering of ourselves and does with it what we cannot do, producing within us deeply ingrained habits of love and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. (Renovare Perspective, April 1999) The Necessity of Community. Spiritual transformation takes place incrementally over time with others in the context of disciplines and practices that open us to God. In general, while we are still on this earth, our transformation will happen by degrees (II Corinthians 3:18) But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the ... • 6. Examples Of Racism In The Play Fences When you look at field of dandelions, you can either see a hundred weeds, or a thousand wishes... It s known as perspective in which, I have learned that two people can look at the exact say thing and see something totally different. In Fences and Say yes , both authors reveal that different perspectives about race create conflict with those that you love. The overall play Fences, deals with racism in various types of ways. In the play fences the perspective on racism has trickled down from generation to generation. Firstly before Troy even knew what racism was his father was greatly affected by it. Troy s father was profoundly affected by slavery during his time of life. Troy said that all his father wanted was for them to learn how to walk so they could work. The only thing my daddy cared about about was getting them bales of cotton in to Mr. Lubin, this shows how slavery and racism greatly affected Troy s father. Due to his father being so caught up in his work he treated Troy and his siblings very poorly, which kind of influenced Troy s views on white people. Troy and his son Cory have a really heavily impacted love hate relationship. Troy and Cory both view racism and white people in various types of ways. Firstly on page 2 Troy states Why you got the white mens driving and the colored lifting, this already shows a discrepancy that Troy has towards white people. Troy views him and his friends unequally to the white people in the society during the time period. Now Troy sees that he has a lack of equality compared to white people. Did white people feel they had more privilege compared to blacks? It s just a perspective that Troy has about white people right off the back, now he later runs into some conflict with his loved ones. One of the biggest disagreement points in the story revolved around Cory wanting to pursue his dream in college football due to the scholarship he had been offered. The white man ain t gonna let him get nowhere with that football, said troy, again this quote shows a lack of trust in white people as he believes that one of the white recruiters won t really take Cory and that Cory will never make a living out of it. What Troy does not understand is that times ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Pascal s Wager Rhetorical Analysis Pascal acknowledges that a belief in God s existence cannot be supported by argument or evidence, but claims that religious belief is a rational necessity. This essay will address how Pascal presents his argument, and how it is in our interest to believe in god. I will argue that Pascal s Wager has weaknesses due to its reliance on an overly simplistic judgement, and will contemplate how Pascal may reply to such criticisms. I will conclude with an evaluation that questions why a believer is superior to a disbeliever, and whether one can truly coerce themselves to believe in god s existence. Pascal s Wager is the attempt to justify belief in the Christian God not with an appeal to evidence for his existence but rather with an appeal to self interest. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pascal s Wager exclusively addresses the Christian God out of an infinite number of possible Gods. With no further information, the laws of probability mean that inadvertently worshiping the wrong God is a practical certainty. Only when the probability of a particular God existing increases does Pascal s Wager become viable, that is, if one God could be proven to have higher likelihood of existing than any other God, Pascal s Wager would represent a clear benefit. Seeing as no god is empirically provable, the most rational decision would be to choose the religion that rewards believers with the best heaven, and disbelievers with the worse hell. In that case we should chose to worship the Invisible Pink Unicorns (IPU) because they have an infinite bad hell and an infinitely wonderful heaven. Considering that this theory cannot be disproven, if the probability is only close to zero we still have infinite gain/loss since infinity times any positive value is still infinity. Hence for anyone constrained by a bias towards a particular God, the Wager will suit their belief. However rationality suggests that wagering solely for the Christian God is not your best ... Heathcliff In Emily Bronte s Romeo And Juliet AP English IV Research Paper Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte and Romeo in Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare share similar all consuming, infatuous relationships that negatively impact their lives. Both couples are used by the authors to express the destructive nature of obsessive relationships and how they can determine one s fate. In both stories, love drives the characters into madness and death. In Romeo and Juliet, Romeo s obsession with Juliet ultimately leads to his demise when he believes he will be separated from her. When Romeo learns of his banishment he throws himself to the ground, his abject posture symbolizing the topsy turvy state of a soul no longer led by reason (Andrews). Knowing he is to be separated from Juliet he becomes disturbed. Having learned of Juliet s death he prepares to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The essay will now move on to the overall assessment of the evolution of the EU actorness in the climate change policy area during 1990 2000s, and, in the process, focus on the case study of the 2009 Copenhagen Climate Summit (also known as COP15). COP15 is a particularly interesting case to review when analysing the EU actorness in this area due to the fact that EU s performance is mostly assessed as disappointing. The period of 2006 2009 is assessed as the time with growing internal EU coherence but less favourable external factors for the EU international actorness (Pavese and Torney 2012, p.136). The Copenhagen Climate Summit, however, demonstrates that both EU actorness and external developments had an impact on its weak outcomes. The recognition criterion at COP15 is fulfilled and does not cause any debate as the EU played a key part in the development of the UNFCCC. The EC was de jure recognised as a full UNFCCC member from the very beginning. Even though de facto recognition is not entirely dependent on the de jure recognition, in the case of COP15 it recognition may be assessed as considerable as the third parties perceived the EU as an important actor and entity with the competence to negotiate. The Taiping Rebellion and the French Revolution successfully shaped their societies by means of political and social reforms. They were both influenced to later achieve their unique successes because of a multitude of pushing factors, such as the existing social and political conditions of China and France. Natural disasters, breaking away from tradition, and China s loss in the Opium War contributed to the ideology of the Taiping Rebellion; to restore China to its previous greatness and overthrowing the government. If not, the description of his son begging him to stop and offering to say a Hail Mary for his sinful father, seems to clinch the response. His pawning of his watch may symbolically release him from the shackles of schedules and time demands, but the frustrations of work only take on new and more extreme forms at the pub and at home. For Farrington, life repeats itself: work is like the pub is like home. Thus the root of Farrington s problem is his inability to realize the maddening circularity that defines his days. He consistently makes life worse for himself, not better. He slips away from work as he pleases, insults his boss, and matter of factly pawns his watch to buy alcohol. Though each small rebellion makes him momentarily happy, the displaced rage simply reappears someplace else, usually exacerbated by his actions. Farrington shows what can happen when a life consists primarily of mindless repetition: sooner or later violence will surface, and those who witness or are subject to the violence may themselves act violently in the future. Farrington s explosive violence sets him apart from some of the other characters in Dubliners, who often accept routine and boredom as facts of life and do little to upset the balance of familiarity and calm they ve established. The poem as already stated is a mini epic and is often described ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, immediately after this joyful expression of love and marriage Catullus introduces Ariadne. Namque fluentisono prospectans litore Diae Thesea cedentem celeri cum classe tuetur Indomitos in corde gerens Ariadna furores. Our first introduction of Ariadne is of her abandonment by Theseus. Ariadne looks on as Theseus abandons her on the island bearing wild furies in the heart. Catullus uses the female narrative express his feelings of grief due to his abandonment by Lesbia. Theseus careless forgetfulness, which in the legend causes his father s mistaken suicide, parallels the fecklessness of Lesbia. Surrounding this, there is the perfect wedding of Peleus and Thetis represents a kind of high point in the age of heroes. Achilles, destined to be born of this match, will distinguish himself chiefly by his bloodthirstiness (as we learn in the marriage hymn sung by the Fates, 323 81). Therefore, In poem 64 Ariadne is Catullus, and Theseus stands in as lesbia. Ariadne curses him from line 130 stating that he is Treacherous, forgetful of his promises, merciless and ruthless. voce mihi, non haec miserae sperare iubebas, sed conubia laeta, sed optatos ... I know that once I do that, then I will be one step closer to accomplishing one of the many goals I have set out to conquer. Then of course I want to attend graduate school for my program and graduate with my doctorate in that field but ultimately I would like to be my own boss and have my own physical therapy practice and facilities etc. I can honestly say I see myself established in my career 5 years from now and doing what I love of course which is helping others through rehab. The population I most interested working with in the future is children. Even though they are high in energy and may be hard for them to consecrate on the activity they are doing, I feel as though they would be the most fun and easiest group to deal with. I love to see joy I bring in a child life. The satisfaction of being that individual to make a change in their life or they look up to me as a role model makes me feel like their superhero. This gives me the chance to connect with a child who has been struggling, and when they finally understand what you re trying to teach them is most fulfilling. • 34. Midnight Judges Dbq In 1800, the Era of Federalist powers over the government finally changed hands to the Democratic Republicans. Thomas Jefferson s election in 1800 signaled the rise of the Republican party, and the soon to be demise of the Federalist party, with many judiciary conflicts to come between. The Judiciary Act of 1801 was an important point of conflict between the Federalists and republicans during the 19th century, causing heightened tension during the change of party hands, and ultimately leading to the establishment of judiciary review. On his very last day of presidency, John Adams commissioned 16 new Federalist judges (also called midnight judges in reference to his last minute timing) to balance the incoming influx of Republican power in congress. In Republican eyes, the Judiciary Act was a pathetic final attempt by the Federalist party to establish itself in one of the three branches of government. Jeffersonians condemned the act, and it was immediately repealed the year after its passage. The repeal of the Judiciary Act took out 16 Federalist judicial ... Frédéric François Chopin, who was born in 1810, was a Polish composer on the Romantic era. His talent appeared very early, which on the age of seven Chopin already composed two polonaises. Chopin then went abroad to Europe to learn about musical life and wanted to be renown. People acclaimed him as piano genius and great composer due to his extremely success performances. • 36. Critique Of Just Mercy Critique Gurvir Bhullar Ms. Paulsen English 1109 34 4 Nov 2017 Just Mercy Introduction Critique There are always two sides to an argument, but different people have different opinions on which side is right and wrong; as a result, we can compare a debate or argument as of a coin, due to the fact that it has two sides. When it comes to the topic of judicial system in America, most of us will readily agree that it needs to be reformed. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of who will step forward and make changes to the court system. Whereas some are convinced that no one is going to do anything about it, others maintain that the government will be the savior by making the changes. In the introduction of Just Mercy: A Story of Justice And Redemption, by Bryan Stevenson an American lawyer, social justice activist, founder and executive director of the Equal Justice Initiative, and a clinical professor at New York University School of Law Stevenson emphasizes that people are not being treated fairly in the judicial system of America. The book was written to give readers a close up look on mass incarceration and extreme punishment given in America. Convincing the readers is not easy, except if the author uses strategic techniques such as ethos, pathos, and logos. It is even more tough if the topic is sensitive and debatable as this one. Stevenson used these three techniques in a variety of different ways to convince the readers. The author starts the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Evaluating Paley s Design Argument Ultimately, Paley s argument uses an inductive argument to suggest that all things with properties of intelligence and complexity must have an intelligent designer who designs them for a specific purpose. When evaluating Paley s design argument, it is evident that it has its flaws. From the inductive argument presented, objections can be made in the first premise by claiming that not all processes have a clear purpose. For instance, when natural disasters such as earthquakes and tornadoes occur, what purpose do they serve exactly, and why would God s work include such disaster? In fact, that leads us to ask why the universe would be designed with such imperfections? It is these types of questions that David Hume utilizes to undermine the design ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The dilemma theists are presented with is that if the world has imperfections due to the evil that exists, which serves no clear purpose, then God, the designer of the world, therefore must be imperfect. But this is not the image that is to be perceived of God if he were to exist. Instead, God, in the human mind, would only exist if he was a perfect being. Without the characteristic of a perfect being, one is able to claim that God does not exist as the designer of the world. However, the main criticism that Hume proposes is to not claim that it is impossible for God not to exist as a perfect being but rather our lack of experience in the creation of the world cannot allow us to claim that God is perfect. Because the design argument is an empirical argument for the existence of God, our experiences with the world, including those that involve evil, cannot allow us to possibly ignore the fact that God may not be a perfect being. If this this case, then God s image ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Relationship Between Natural Environment And Human Exchange The relationship between the natural environment and human exchange is one that has been an ongoing battle of overconsumption and a regulation on natural goods. Human interaction during the Industrial Revolution spanning from the nineteenth and twentieth century has several contrasting principles. In the nineteenth century, the excuse of overconsumption was for industrial economic profit. Humans believed that over using natural resource was acceptable due to the belief that natural resources were God s gift to man, and God would replenish the natural goods. However, the overuse of natural goods results in smog, pollution, and water contamination which has various damaging health effects. In the 20th century, humans were more than aware of the effects that over consumption produced, but neglected the environment for their own social status and profit. Nevertheless, during the end of the 20th century, scientific evidence led to widespread awareness of the effects occurring to the environment, prompting people to make policies to change and protect the environment. This caused humans to create a relationship with the government and restrict overconsumption. Ultimately, the first Industrial Revolution during the 19th century, the overuse of technology wasn t perceived as harmful to the environment. However, in the second Industrial Revolution during the 20th century, over consumption had external effects that were harmful to the environment, triggering intrusion from the ...
