2. The chosen subgenre for my magazine is heavy metal
I have chosen this because I feel it is the genre I am the
most interesting and therefore know the most about.
There are a few similar publications on the market in
the UK already, such as “Metal Hammer”.
However, I decided to create this magazine to tend
towards lesser known and up-coming bands.
3. My chosen genre
• Metal is the focus, many sub genres of metal
will be covered.
• The bands covered in my magazine will be
some well known, popular bands but mostly
lesser-known bands.
• This focuses my magazine towards a more
niche audience.
4. Name ideas
• Broken Strings
• Double Bass – A feature used in most metal
tracks
• Destroy the charts – Referencing how people
who like this genre dislike what is currently in
the charts
5. Pricing
• This magazine will have monthly editions
• The magazine should be cheaper to
accommodate those buying it regularly
• It will also be more appealing to the intended
audience
Between £2-£4
6. Publishing Institution
Possible Publishers
• Bauer media – Publisher of Kerrang
• Future Publishing – Publisher of Metal Hammer
• Dark Arts Ltd. – Publisher of Terrorizer
I think Future Publishing will be a good choice because their
other magazine covers a similar genre but it is aimed towards a
more mainstream audience, so my magazine will accompany it
well.
