1) The document proposes a jazz magazine called Smooth Tunes that will feature interviews with North London jazz bands.
2) Each issue will include a double page spread interviewing a band during the production and success of their latest song, along with photos of the band members.
3) The unique selling point is that each magazine will include an exclusive poster of the featured band.
2. Genre
-The genre I have chosen to
do for my North London
magazine is jazz.
3. Form
-The front cover will have the title, price, an image of the main
band being interviewed and show the unique selling point.
-The double page spreads will include interviews of different
North London jazz bands and updates on productions of their
latest songs (with pictures)
-This will have 50 pages.
4. Resources
-To make this, I will need Photoshop
to create the magazine, DaFont for
the fonts used in the magazine and
FireAlpaca to draw the certain parts
such as the design of the magazine.
5. Fonts
-I plan to use the same fonts for both versions
of the magazine unless they are difficult to
read in a certain version.
6. Distribution
-The Physical version will be £4.99, they will
be available in stores and bundle
subscriptions online at a discount.
-The digital version will have two versions,
the first one Is £2.99 and will not include the
poster, the second will and it will cost £5.99.
7. Age Demographics
-First of all, the primary audience will
be adults aged anywhere from 30 – 50.
-The second age demographic will be for
elderly aged 65+.
8. Demographics
-I have also made the decision that this
magazine is not for a specific gender,
race, class or ethnicity. This magazine is
intended for everyone.
9. Marketing
-The marketing of this magazine will intrigue any
buyers. I plan for the marketing to have the front
cover mention that they will find out something
they never knew about the jazz music industry in
each issue. I also plan to have advertisements on
apps such as Instagram and Facebook for the
primary audience and newspapers for the
secondary.
10. The main idea
The magazine will feature interviews of
jazz bands located in North London,
however, there’s a small twist, I will
interview them twice. There will be one
interview during production and one
after the song/albums success, my
sample will only include one of them.
11. Purpose
-The purpose of this magazine is to not
only educate and inform readers on
their band’s personal thoughts but also
learn something about the (jazz) music
industry. It will also promote and
advertise the bands featured in the
magazine.
12. Content
-The contents of this magazine are fairly simple.
The first page (of the double paged spread) will be
an interview with one of the Jazz band members
during production and then success of their latest
song. The next page will be a few images of the
band member. Of course, the Jazz band created
will be based in North London. The front cover will
explain what’s inside with headings and mention
the unique selling point.
13. Unique Selling Point
-The unique selling point is a simple but
affective piece. With each magazine,
an exclusive poster of one of the bands
being interviewed will be included.
Collectors and fans will love this as
collectors get to have something
exclusive and fans get to put their
favorite band on the wall.
14. Colour Schemes
The colour scheme I have chosen is
blue, yellow and white. The background
will be blue, the text will be coloured
white and yellow will outline or
highlight things that are important such
as the title, band and images.
15. Sample Material
-Here is my first concept for what the front cover and
double page spread could look like:
