CONTENTS PAGE
COMPLETE DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD
MASTHEAD
• My Masthead is left aligned
• It uses a unique font style that is
featured nowhere else in my
magazine. Apart from when I
mention the magazine's name
throughout the rest of my
magazine.
• My main image covers part of the
masthead, which is convention in
popular magazines. This has been
done by popular magazines where
the main image has been a popular
celebrity.
• The Masthead’s also the largest
piece of text on my front cover.
• The colour I used for it stands out
against the grey background with
the black drop shadow.
MAIN COVERLINE
• The main coverline is unique from the rest
of the coverlines because it is a unique
font and colour.
• However the font used for the coverline
isn’t as unique that it represents the
artists type and style of music.
• The use of yellow stands out against the
colour of Connor’s red and black
chequered shirt, it’s also the only use of
yellow on my front cover making it stand
out even more.
• The description for it is in ‘Lucida Console’
, it uses white for the colour and which
also stands out against the main image
and background.
• I have a banner saying ‘Exclusive’ on a
slant to
COVERLINES
• My coverlines follow the same style. They
change size depending on how big each article
is.
• There are two different fonts being used for
this:
• Cooper Std Black
• Lucida Console
• The black colour of the text makes the writing
stand out against the red and black chequered
shirt that Connor is wearing and the grey
background.
• The white text colour stands out against the
grey background.
• By choosing these colours in tandem with the
background I know that they don’t clash
together but instead work well together.
STRAPLINE, BARCODE, AND POSITIONING
STATEMENT, ETC.
• The strapline I used for my magazine was inspired
by Q’s strapline, using a  symbol to separate the
band names from each other.
• The barcode was taken from the internet, I then
added the date, price and website address to it.
• The positioning statement is there to make my
magazine appear more professional, and to give the
magazine a sense of credibility. So the reader can
read the positioning statement it I made sure it
didn’t go behind the main image unlike part of the
headline.
• I also have a fake page curl in the top right hand
corner with a ‘Featuring’ list, the yellow text against
the black backing for the page curl makes it easily
readable, along with the white text as well.
MAIN IMAGE
• My main image has Connor is looking
directly at the camera, addressing the
reader directly (direct address). This
attracts the reader , making them
intrigued.
• He’s wearing a chequered shirt, which
is a very common style of clothing in
the indie scene.
• The main coverline goes across the
main image and the smaller coverlines
surround him.
CONTENTS PAGE
THE EDITORS LETTER
• The Editor’s letter is used to address the reader
in a more direct format.
• It’s located near the top of the page, so that it is
clearly visible for the reader to see and it’s one
of the first things the reader sees.
• I’ve placed a picture of myself next to it so the
reader knows what I look like and that they know
who is writing the magazine. By establishing my
name and my image it creates a relationship
between the reader and the writer.
PICTURES
• I positioned my pictures in a similar
way to how I positioned them on my
preliminary work.
• The main article has the largest image
on there to indicate that it is main
article.
• The other images are related to
smaller articles.
• The image’s are action shots of them
performing, no green screen, editing
or anything.
THE REGULARS AND FEATURES
• The regular and feature articles are all in
continuity of each other, the page numbers
all match up, none of them overlap
anywhere.
• They all use the same font and keep the
same design style with the numbers being
black and the background for each page
number being white, creating a contrasting
colour scheme that works well and makes
the writing readable.
• The titles are short and concise, giving the
reader inclination to continue reading and
turn to the specific article.
SUBSCRIPTION MODEL
• I offer my readers a subscription
model as seen in many other
magazines as an easy way to delver
magines directly to their consumer
at a reasonable price.
• Including a small picture of the
magazine next to it is a staple of
magazines.
• I’ve left the contact details of
Facebook and Twitter here so the
readers can interact with Ind-Z
online if they need to.
DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD
STAND FIRST
• The stand first includes a drop capital which is
one of the codes and conventions of a magazine
to have it drop three lines, however I challenged
this convention by dropping it down by five
lines.
• The first word is also a different colour from the
rest of the stand first to make it stand out,
drawing the readers attention.
• The rest of the stand first is coloured in red to
stand out from the rest of the text on the Double
Page Spread.
• The actual content of the standfirst is used to
introduce who the band are and give basic
background information.
THE ARTICLE
• The article is written in columns, three per page to be
precise like in normal magazine conventions.
• Each question in the article is written in bold so the
reader knows what is the question and what the answers
from the interviewee are.
• The text also surrounds the main image of the article,
which is sometimes how the text is positioned in some
magazines.
• Just below the article are the page numbers, these page
numbers are in continuity with the contents page’s
listings of what page it should be.
IMAGES
• The main image for my article is in the centre of the page with the text
surrounding it. It is in back and white so it suits the main colour scheme
of the magazine.
• The two other pictures are positioned in the corners of the magazine as
subsidiary images and are also made black and white to suite the colour
scheme.

SUBSCRIPTION MODEL • I offer my readers a subscription model as seen in many other magazines as an easy way to delver magines directly to their consumer at a reasonable price. • Including a small picture of the magazine next to it is a staple of magazines. • I’ve left the contact details of Facebook and Twitter here so the readers can interact with Ind-Z online if they need to.
  • 16. STAND FIRST • The stand first includes a drop capital which is one of the codes and conventions of a magazine to have it drop three lines, however I challenged this convention by dropping it down by five lines. • The first word is also a different colour from the rest of the stand first to make it stand out, drawing the readers attention. • The rest of the stand first is coloured in red to stand out from the rest of the text on the Double Page Spread. • The actual content of the standfirst is used to introduce who the band are and give basic background information.
  • 17. THE ARTICLE • The article is written in columns, three per page to be precise like in normal magazine conventions. • Each question in the article is written in bold so the reader knows what is the question and what the answers from the interviewee are. • The text also surrounds the main image of the article, which is sometimes how the text is positioned in some magazines. • Just below the article are the page numbers, these page numbers are in continuity with the contents page’s listings of what page it should be.
  • 18. IMAGES • The main image for my article is in the centre of the page with the text surrounding it. It is in back and white so it suits the main colour scheme of the magazine. • The two other pictures are positioned in the corners of the magazine as subsidiary images and are also made black and white to suite the colour scheme.
