Roadway Design
• East Riverfront Utility Investigation; Rossetti Architects – Detroit, Michigan
Project Engineer for conducting the utility investigation. Client requested a traffic study and utility investigation in
order to understand the feasibility of future development along Atwater St. between Beaubien and Rivard.
Responsibilities include; coordination with utility companies and Miss Dig to obtain utility record drawings in the
area, transferring the utility information from record drawings to one consolidated base map, creating exhibits
that displayed the existing utilities graphically for nontechnical use and understanding, identifying and graphically
depicting existing utility easements, and coordinating the utility investigation report with the traffic study and
master planning to identify any utility conflicts critical to the master plan.
• East Riverfront Improvements – Contract 2B; Detroit Riverfront Conservancy – Detroit, Michigan
Project Engineer for the Riverfront improvement project. Project scope includes new sidewalk, bike path and
pedestrian bridge as the final connection piece of the Detroit Riverfront property crossing the Coast Guard
Property. Responsibilities include; sidewalk layout and grading design, bike path layout and grading design, and
site furnishing locations and specifications to match the rest of the Riverfront development.
• Madison Avenue Streetscape Improvements; Detroit Economic Growth Corporation – Detroit, Michigan
Construction Inspector for 0.77 miles of streetscape enhancements along Madison Avenue R.O.W. within the
City of Detroit, Wayne County. The streetscape enhancements include landscape plantings, irrigation,
commercial driveway and sidewalk reconstruction and restoration. Inspector’s responsibilities included; keeping
track of contractor activities on a daily basis, measuring and inspecting materials used and pay items placed,
recording pay item quantities and materials daily, coordinating between Contractor and Project Engineer on all
constructability issues, and documenting all activity in an Inspector’s Daily Report.
• Westwood Est. Subdivision Street Improvements; Village of West Jefferson – West Jefferson, Ohio
Project Engineer for the Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) portion of the roadway improvements. The project scope
involved constructing improvements to the subdivision streets including; complete reconstruction, curb/gutter
sidewalk and driveway apron reconstruction, milling and resurfacing and pavement reclamation. Iden’s
responsibilities included: developing a Maintenance of Traffic Plan, determining construction phasing and
staging, and developing a plan to maintain access to all residential driveways during construction. Due to the
project location being in a residential neighborhood with the presence of a school, the phasing and MOT plan
created several access challenges to residences as well as the school during construction, all of which were
resolved by the development of a comprehensive MOT and Phasing Plan.
• Mechanical Lab Facility and Miller Road Driveway Approaches; Severstal – Dearborn, Michigan
Project Engineer for the Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) portion of the projects. The project scope included:
parking lot rehabilitation, new parking lot, driveway approach, and sidewalk construction, stormwater
management, perimeter security for Homeland Security Site, electrical and communications for site electrical
and securities, and owners rep for permitting through both the City of Dearborn and Wayne County. Iden’s
responsibilities included developing a MOT Plan for the construction of the new driveway approach to Miller
Road for the Mechanical Lab Facility and driveway reconstruction for two separate driveway approaches along
Miller Road.

• M-1 Rail Streetcar; M-1 Rail/URS Corporation – Detroit, Michigan
Roadway Engineer for roadway/civil work for the City of Detroit jurisdictional work for the construction of a
streetcar system along Woodward Avenue in Detroit. Design included: removal and construction sheets to inlay
the track slab in the existing pavement, resurfacing the remaining pavement, curb and sidewalk modifications,
utility and drainage relocations and detail grading. Responsibilities included: corridor modeling, setup and
maintenance of MDOT Construction and Removal sheets, detail grading of proposed sidewalks and ADA Ramp
improvements, setting up and updating MDOT Title blocks and the Title block Manager spreadsheet, identifying
conflicts with existing utilities and proposed street car tracks, utility conflict resolution and relocation, identifying

Project Engineer for the vacating of Oakwood Boulevard to Marathon as a private road and realigning Oakwood
Boulevard to tie into the T-intersection at Dix and Mellon Streets. Design included: traffic signal design for three
intersections, pavement design, curb and gutter, sidewalk, drainage, lighting, maintenance of traffic, erosion
control, signing, pavement marking, and utility relocations. Responsibilities included; developing exhibits and
conceptual graphics for planning, feasibility, and property acquisition, CAD Standards implementation, Right-of-
Way (ROW) grading, grading coordination with roadway ROW and adjacent Site/Civil Project (under design
concurrently).
• Randolph Streetscape; Detroit Economic Growth Corporation – Detroit, Michigan
Project Engineer for design of the streetscape including: mill and resurface, extended median, right turn lane
elimination, curb replacement, sidewalk replacement, raised planters, tree grates, irrigation, drainage, pedestrian
signals, lighting, maintenance of traffic signing and pavement marking. Project coordination included working
with PLD, MDOT Detroit TSC, DWSD and Detroit City Engineering Division. Responsibilities included: permitting
through MDOT and the City of Detroit, plan preparation and production, grading design for proposed sidewalk
and ADA ramp improvements, roadway grading, and intersection layout improvement.
• Greektown Infrastructure Improvements/I-375; Greektown Casino – Detroit, Michigan
Project Engineer for the roadway improvement design. The project scope included a comprehensive traffic study
and traffic improvement plan and the reconstruction/reconfiguration of the Lafayette Street exit on Southbound I-
375 in Downtown Detroit. Responsibilities included: conducting traffic counts at various intersections, geometric
improvements to a freeway exit ramp, and the setup and management of construction plans.
• Earthwork Quantity Estimation; Miller Brothers Construction – Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio
Project Engineer for the estimation of earthwork quantities. MSG was retained by Miller Brothers Construction to
provide earthwork quantity estimations for interstate highway improvement projects. Estimates were developed

and used by Miller Brothers Construction to formulate their bid amounts in respect to the earthwork costs.
Responsibilities were limited to using the end area method for calculating earthwork volumes. Provided with the
proposed and existing cross sections and was responsible for determining what pay items would be found at
each cross section and calculating the quantities for the entire length of the project.
• Civic Center Realignment; SDG/Detroit Regional Convention Facility Authority – Detroit, Michigan
Project Engineer for the realignment of Civic Center Drive at Cobo to remove the roadway passing through the
underground parking garage and tie directly into Jefferson Avenue. The project included: new vertical and
horizontal alignments, retaining wall, drainage improvements, bridge modifications, and maintenance of traffic.
Close coordination with Cobo, Detroit City Engineering Division, Detroit Traffic Engineering Division, MDOT
Detroit TSC, PLD, DWSD, Detroit Thermal, and Detroit Transportation Company (People Mover) was necessary.
• East RiverFront RiverWalk Improvements – Mt. Elliott Park; MDOT – Detroit, Michigan
Project Engineer for the park improvements design. Responsibilities were limited to CADD revisions and cleanup
and stormwater detention/retention design and special provisioning.
• Yzerman Drive/Atwater Street; SDG/Detroit Regional Convention Facility Authority – Detroit, Michigan
Project Engineer for the resurfacing and intersection alignment modifications project. Responsibilities included:
pavement resurfacing design, ADA Sidewalk ramp grading, roadway profile modifications and other intersection
geometric modifications, detailed grading of modified intersection, and miscellaneous drafting revisions.
Site/Civil Design
• Waring Street Sewer Design; Marathon Petroleum Company – Detroit, Michigan
Project Engineer responsible for demolition, plan and profile development of the sewer design project. Project
scope includes designing a sewer system that will connect surface runoff to the Oily Water Sewer System.
Responsibilities include; setting up plan sheets, developing general notes and standard detail sheets, designing
in plan and profile the new sewer system according to Marathon specifications.
• NC32 Parking Lot Resurfacing; University of Michigan (U-M) – Ann Arbor, Michigan
Project Engineer responsible for plan development for the resurfacing project. Project scope included designing
a cost effective rehabilitation plan that maximizes the rehabilitated pavement life for the preset construction
budget. Responsibilities include; plan development, erosion control design, pavement resurfacing design,
sidewalk ADA ramp design, parking layout and design, and quantity calculation and pay item budgeting.
• Maple Village Site Investigation Report; Brixmor Property Group – Ann Arbor, Michigan
Project Engineer responsible for gathering information for the Site Investigation Report. The project scope
involved developing a Site Investigation Report to determine the feasibility and any zoning requirements to
develop an out-lot parcel in an existing shopping center. Iden’s responsibilities included: locating the zoning,
utility, parking, and various other requirements from the City of Ann Arbor and compiling the information in a
concise Site Investigation Report.
• Potential Commercial Development Site; Chase Properties – Farmington, Missouri
Project Engineer responsible for the conceptual phase of the layout and grading design of a potential
commercial development site in Farmington, Missouri. The client requested a preliminary site layout and rough
grading design of a commercial development site that is currently vacant land. The client is working on
developing a commercial shopping center and was interested in the potential design options as well as cost
estimation. Responsibilities included: establishing a base map compiled from multiple survey’s, creating an
existing ground surface model based on contour lines, laying out three out lot parcels and ensuring compliance

with zoning requirements for setbacks, parking spaces, and landscape requirements, documenting iterations of
the site layout and grading designs as they progressed to keep an active record of the projects evolution.
• GM Paint Shop Expansion; GALA/Walbridge/GK – Delta Township, Lansing, Michigan
Project Engineer for the site/civil design work. Responsibilities included: setup of base maps and sheet files,
relocating underground utility lines including fire protection line, stormwater sewer, and gas main, site grading,
concrete pavement design and layout, stormwater management, and soil erosion sedimentation control design.
• Mobility Transformation Facility; University of Michigan – Ann Arbor Michigan
Project Engineer for the roadway and site/civil design work. The project scope included: Schematic Design,
Design Documents, and Construction Documents of a world-class state-of-the-art research facility for automated
vehicle technology. Responsibilities included: converting conceptual design drawings into a schematic design
base map, preliminary stormwater analysis, drainage area delineation and surface runoff calculations, roadway
typical cross sections, plan sheet setup and management, coordination between disciplines to ensure continuity
of sheet setup, roadway and utility profiling, detail grading and revisions to overall grading plan, reviewing site
features to ensure compliance with programming documents, and communicating the client expectations, as
understood from the feasibility study and programming phase, to the design team.

Project Engineer for the feasibility study including: preparing conceptual graphics for use of the UM Planners
Office, identifying the infrastructure needs of the site to accommodate the proposed facility, preparing a
feasibility comparison of two potential sites for the construction of the facility including identifying infrastructure
needs of each site and comparing the spatial constraints of each site and how it effects layout, and developing a
conceptual design that can be easily developed into schematic design drawings.
• Building 11B Parking Lot Reconstruction; Marathon Petroleum Company – Detroit, Michigan
Project Engineer for the site/civil design including: removal and replacement of the asphalt parking lot, parking
lot grading improvements, stormwater management, security gates and point of entry, and lighting design.
Responsibilities included; pavement design, Hot Mix Asphalt selection, grading, stormwater collection and
routing, driveway approach design and permitting, design file coordination with MPC Document Controls, and
coordination with subconsultants responsible for lighting and electrical/security work.
• Administration Building Site/Civil; PBK/Marathon Petroleum Company – Detroit Michigan
Project Engineer for the site/civil design. The project scope included constructing and new administration
building and a refinery campus center in conjunction with the relocation of Oakwood Boulevard in Detroit.
Responsibilities included: coordination with the Architects for building utility leads and changes to site layout,
parking lot layout and pavement design, site grading, perimeter fencing, soil erosion sedimentation control
design, and underground utility design.

• Northwood Master Plan; Ayers Saint Gross – Royal Oak, Michigan
Project Engineer for a storm water management study. MSG was contracted to determine the stormwater
management requirements in the areas of detention/retention and routing, and develop a conceptual plan for the
potential redevelopment of the site. Responsibilities included: determining the storm water regulations as set
forth by the county drain commission, establish a base map from conceptual architectural renderings, locate all
existing stormwater and sanitary sewer utilities, determine the runoff volumes that would be generated by the
proposed redevelopment, determine storage volume requirement based on the pre and post development
conditions, layout a stormwater collection and routing network, determine the feasibility of surface detention vs.
underground detention, sized underground detention facilities, and developed project deliverables which
included a stormwater routing and storage plan and the design calculations associated with routing and storage.
• Kettering Wing Addition; Tooles Construction/Detroit Public Schools – Detroit, Michigan
Project Engineer for the site/civil design of building addition. The project scope included: parking lot expansion to
accommodate the building addition, and a new driveway and approach to provide access to the building addition.
Responsibilities included: driveway approach design, stormwater routing, grading design, SESC design, utility
service and utility crossings design, full site/civil plan production, drafting, fire marshal review of hydrant
coverage, and obtaining a building permit from the City of Detroit’s Building and Safety Department.
• Fort Street Terminal Parking Lot; Marathon Petroleum Company – Detroit, Michigan
Project Engineer for the renovation design to convert an existing parking lot to a new entrance into the terminal
property that would allow for a greater capacity to queue semi-trucks waiting to refuel or unload their trailers’ at
the terminal. Responsibilities included: pavement removal and replacement design, grading design, truck traffic
flow concepts and design, truck staging concepts and design, and complete drafting and plan production.
• Duct Bank Design; Marathon Petroleum Company – Detroit, Michigan
Project Engineer for the design of an electrical duct bank that would bring electrical and data wiring underneath a
city street to a newly built warehouse. Responsibilities included: design of an electrical duct bank per the NEC
requirements and the Marathon Refinery standards and requirements, complete drafting and plan production,
and pavement replacement design.
• Terminal Shop Building; Marathon Petroleum Company – Detroit, Michigan
Project Engineer for the site/civil design of a proposed shop building within the Terminal Property. The building is
a relatively small, light frame building that will be used for metal fabrication work and material storage.
Responsibilities included: grading and drainage design, building utility service design, pavement removal and
replacement design, and complete drafting and plan production.
Permitting
• I-375 Lafayette Street Exit Ramp Improvements Permitting; Greektown Casino LLC – Detroit, Michigan
Iden was instrumental in coordinating the ROW Construction permit with the City of Detroit and MDOT’s Detroit
TSC. The project presented several challenges during permitting due to its unique public-private partnership,
funding was 100% private, yet all of the improvements are within the public ROW (both MDOT and City of
Detroit). Iden’s responsibilities included: submitting permit applications, follow-up with permitting agents, creating
QA/QC procedures for managing all incoming comments and their corresponding revisions from both agencies,

coordination with project engineers to address comments in a timely manner, and managing all file transmittals
between MSG and both public agencies.
• MDOT Right-of-Way (ROW) Construction Permits
Streamlined and rehabilitated the company-wide standards and practices for applying for right-of-way
construction permits utilizing the Michigan Business One Stop website. Applied for and obtained a ROW
construction permit for full and partial roadway closures, roadway resurfacing and reconstruction, sidewalk
replacement, geotechnical exploration including soil borings and monitoring well installation, and land survey
work within restricted and unrestricted ROW. Worked with permitting agents in multiple TSC offices including
Detroit, Oakland, Tailor, and Lansing.
• City of Detroit Right-of-Way (ROW) Construction Permits
Applied for and obtained ROW construction permits for various projects within the city including: roadway
reconstruction and resurfacing projects, streetscape projects, driveway approaches, and miscellaneous building
projects. Iden has quickly developed a healthy professional relationship with the various reviewers and
permitting agents within the City of Detroit’s Department of Public Works (DPW) divisions including City
Engineering Division (CED), Traffic Engineering Division (TED), Detroit Water and Sewer Department (DWSD),
and the Construction Permits office within CED.

Applied and obtained erosion control permits from Wayne County for various projects including: the COBO Hall
Arena Area Site/Civil project and the Kettering Wing Addition project. Applied and obtained a building permit
from the City of Detroit’s Building and Safety Department for the Kettering Wing Addition project, by personally
walking the plans through to each reviewer and ensuring that each reviewer signed off on the plans once their
respective comments were addressed.
