FedEx Corporation is a US multinational courier delivery services company headquartered in
Memphis, Tennessee. The name \"FedEx\" is a syllabic abbreviation of the name of the
company\'s original air division, Federal Express, which was used from 1973 until 2000. The
company is known for its overnight shipping service, but also for pioneering a system that could
track packages and provide real-time updates on package location (to help in finding lost
packages), a feature that has now been implemented by most other carrier services.
FedEx Corporation is an import/export company, incorporated October 2, 1997 in Delaware.
FDX Corporation was founded in January 1998 with the acquisition of Caliber System Inc. by
Federal Express. With the purchase of Caliber, FedEx started offering other services besides
express shipping. Caliber subsidiaries included RPS, a small-package ground service; Roberts
Express, an expedited shipping provider; Viking Freight, a regional, less than truckload freight
carrier serving the Western United States; Caribbean Transportation Services, a provider of
airfreight forwarding between the United States and the Caribbean; and Caliber Logistics and
Caliber Technology, providers of logistics and technology solutions. FDX Corporation was
founded to oversee all of the operations of those companies and its original air division, Federal
Express.
FedEx is a proponent of e-commerce. They realize that through prosumption, having
customers conduct their business online, they save the cost of additional employees and phone
costs. Industry Analysis within the industry are two types of companies. There are combination
carriers, which are primarily passenger airline companies that also carry cargo. And then there
are all-cargo companies like Federal Express which only carry cargo, have fleets of planes,
usually fly at night, have ground transportation, and personnel for door-to-door pick-up and
delivery. The all cargo companies control 90% of the domestic cargo companies. Competition in
the all cargo segment of the industry includes: UPS, DHL, Airborne Express and U.S. Postal
Service. The entire industry delivers roughly 5.6 million packages each day. FedEx currently has
a 45 “ 50 % market share and thus delivers 2.8 million packages each day.
FedEx is organized into operating units, each of which has its own version of the wordmark
designed in 1994 by Lindon Leader of Landor Associates, of San Francisco. The Fed is always
purple and the Ex is in a different color for each division and platinum for the overall corporation
use. The original FedEx logo had the Ex in orange; it is now used as the FedEx Express
wordmark. The FedEx wordmark is notable for containing a subliminal right-pointing arrow in
the negative space between the \"E\" and the \"X\", which was achieved by designing a
proprietary font, based on Univers and Futura, to emphasize the arrow shape. In August.

Putting the SPARK into Virtual Training.pptxCynthia Clay
This 60-minute webinar, sponsored by Adobe, was delivered for the Training Mag Network. It explored the five elements of SPARK: Storytelling, Purpose, Action, Relationships, and Kudos. Knowing how to tell a well-structured story is key to building long-term memory. Stating a clear purpose that doesn't take away from the discovery learning process is critical. Ensuring that people move from theory to practical application is imperative. Creating strong social learning is the key to commitment and engagement. Validating and affirming participants' comments is the way to create a positive learning environment.

Unveiling the Secrets How Does Generative AI Work.pdfSam H
At its core, generative artificial intelligence relies on the concept of generative models, which serve as engines that churn out entirely new data resembling their training data. It is like a sculptor who has studied so many forms found in nature and then uses this knowledge to create sculptures from his imagination that have never been seen before anywhere else. If taken to cyberspace, gans work almost the same way.

10. Deregulation:
The Air cargo Deregulation Act of 1977 opened the market for carriers
and shippers to freely negotiate rates and provide services.
Led to the formation of air express and third-party logistics.
Speed and Reliability in the 70’s:
FedEx invented the concept of overnight express delivery
The distribution was based on the hub and spoke system where packages
are dropped off at pick-up locations and are then routed to a central
distribution center.
Delivery on time came about when the industry in the U.S. utilized the
“JIT and lean manufacturing” concepts:
less inventory
Fast-cycle logistics
FedEx set the industry standard in delivery speed and reliability.
10
11. Customer Service
In addition to the guaranteed on time delivery FedEx provides
their customers with:
• Several delivery times “10am, 12pm , 4pm”

• Virtual Warehousing: Other supply chain partner have access to databases
and information such as sales and shipment
• The use of “Demand–Pull”
• pulled by customers not pushed by suppliers
• concentration on knowledge of what the customers need and how
products can be shipped and packed

manufacturer or housed as stock”
Delivery and shipment options are based on time, location and cost

Economic Development indicated that:

24. Single-Box Packing Method
Ship non-fragile products like soft goods
inside a sturdy outer box.
Use fillers like crumpled newspaper, loose
fill peanuts or air-cellular cushioning
material to fill void spaces and prevent
movement of goods inside the box during
shipping.
Place goods that might be affected by dirt,
water or wet conditions inside a plastic bag.
Use the H taping method for sealing the
package
24
25. Box-in-box Packing Method
Restrict product movement inside the
box using filler like crumpled newspaper,
loose fill peanuts or other cushioning
material
Close and tape the inner box using the H
taping method. This will help prevent
accidental opening
Use a second box that is at least 6" longer,
wider and deeper than the inner box
Ship fragile products individually,
wrapping them in a minimum 3"
thickness of air-cellular cushioning
material such as Bubble Wrap
Fill any void spaces with more cushioning
material
Use the H taping method for sealing the
package
25
26. Proper labeling helps ensure on-time delivery and
complete orders.
Labels on the freight should match the bill of lading and
clearly show the full name and address of the consignee.
The use of brightly colored labels helps identify special
requirements such as:
Do Not Break Down Pallet
Do Not Double Stack
Do Not Forklift
Fragile: Handle with Care
Fragile: Top Freight Only
Keep Upright
26
28. Compression Test
Compression Load
(pounds) =0.007 x (108 –

of these conditions is first
detected by the compression
tester:
The stop force.
The yield detection
percentage.
The stop deflection.

environments
Truck vibration at 0.52 Grms
(root mean square)
Air vibration at 1.06 Grms
Repeat truck vibration at 0.52
Grms
Rotary Vibration Test
Packages will be subjected to a
total of 14,200 vibratory
impacts

All FedEx Express aircraft meet all federal noise certification
standards and comply with FAA Stage 3 noise requirements.
In 1990, FedEx, working with Pratt & Whitney and Boeing,
developed a proprietary noise reduction kit (also known as a

FedEx has taken steps to reduce the use of auxiliary power
units when the planes are on the tarmac. This effort has
helped drastically to reduce fuel use and noise levels.
