The Degradation of Women in Hip-Hop Music Videos and...
Hip hop began in the 1970s in the south Bronx of New York and served a cathartic purpose for
the black community. People could explore issues such as the eradication of racism and equality,
but since Hip hop was created, the cathartic use has been abused through the increased use of
misogynistic lyrics and music videos. Artists like Ludacris, 50 Cent and Eminem portray women
nothing more than ho s , bitches and freaks . Nothing more than sex objects; and yet, their biggest
fan base is adolescents, this is dreadful as neuroscientists have discovered that the teenage brain
still undergoes the same radical development as seen in childhood . Teenagers are easily influenced
through their formative years ; as they are consuming music videos... Show more content on

As Nicki calls herself Nicki Lewinsky it also tells her fans that she also performs this. Nicki Minaj
has done numerous things to make herself a celebrity; she had undergone cosmetic surgeries
several times to look (what she believes) is sexy. She is an eccentric character, but what would
persuade a woman to enhance her body so much?
In an Interview with Vibe Magazine, Nicki stated, When I grew up I saw females doing certain
things, and I thought I had to do that exactly. The female rappers of my day spoke about sex a
lot... and I thought that to have the success they got; I would have to represent the same thing.
When in fact I didn t have to represent the same thing , this is the perfect example of the
hypodermic needle theory at work. As Nicki Minaj grew up, her inspirations were Foxy Brown and
Lil Kim. Nicki Minaj was also a passive watcher, as she watched all her favourite artists perform
and talk about women in a degrading way. The affects of this on Nicki was she also became
thinking like a woman who had no respect.

Reflection On My Experience Of An Unxamined Life
Summer Reflection
I will not reflect on what I did this summer.
Socrates once said, An unexamined life is a life not worth living. I must refute. An unexamined life
is the only life worth living. I live my life gazing into the future, unburdened by the past.
In fact, I have never looked into a mirror, never taken a bath, never looked out of a window at
night. When my friends have the hiccups, I take them on a joyride. Switching lanes always cures
the hiccups. Another advantage is you never have to adjust non existent mirrors. In the glovebox of
my car lies my reflection free permit. It prevents me from seeing the cops.
Other people are always so vain, obsessing over how they look. They re transparent, insignificant,
mirages, reflections. However, I am opaque. If I reflected on my summer, it would dilute the
vividness, the complexity, the intrigue.
Actually, my only reflection is that my summer was so fantastic that I regret having to return to
school. Ever since fourth grade when I picked up the name toilet pants, I ve picked up a dislike for
the place. After all, there s only one bathroom without any mirrors the Great Outdoors.
In life, people claim you need to reflect on a lot of things: college essays, interviews, resumes.
They re wrong. I m doing fine, right? After resizing the font, this will be around half a page!
So about this assignment on what happened last summer: I cannot write a reflection. I have an
incapability. No, I have an enlightenment. Not writing a reflection is the better decision because it
allows me to avoid being bogged down by the past. Retrospection must not taint my memories.
A reflection isn t something you can keep to yourself, a sequestered treasure nestled in the
subconscious. Society and success demand that we expose ourselves. This exposure can be about
the time my dog died or the time my ice cream fell from the cone or the time my favorite racecar
was stolen. I ve never tried reflecting, of course.
Let other people do the reflecting. Why should I have to do the reflecting? Others can reflect for
me. If they tried hard enough, some of my enlightenment might rub off on them. They can reflect
on why I don t reflect.
In my house, there are no family

Final Project: Research Essay
Leonard Hermoso
Art Institute of California: Hollywood Abstract
Since its early days, the media have always had a hand at molding who we are as a society. It is
an extension of our culture and who we are. It has been a conduit of knowledge and information
from person to person. A consistent attribute of media is the desire of the elites to control it and a
resistance from people that want more freedom from such influences. Today, it is all around us,
affecting most, if not all, of our daily lives. It influences how kids grow up in our society. It creates
ideals that we want so much to achieve; labels us in order to promote the consumer culture. Being
filled with media all the time, it can affect our society in a way that most people would think are
negative. It can be a source of unrealistic expectations, a distorted look on reality, a distorted
image of beauty and a reason health to deteriorate, be it physically or mentally. The media is a
blessing for us, but one must be careful with it for it will always be accompanied with things that
can have a negative effect on us.
The media has become a part of us, a part of something that shapes who we are, our desires, and
what we expect to have in life. Throughout his book: Understanding Media Cultures: Social Theory
and Mass Communication, Stevenson Nick asserted that the media has become an extension of
who we are, and an extension of what we have become and can

Symbols In The Great Gatsby
Symbols play a huge role in The Great Gatsby, they add to the understanding that the reader takes
from the novel. A symbol is an object, character, figure or color that is used to represent an
abstract idea or concept. F. Scott Fitzgerald uses many symbols throughout the novel to highlight
key ideas, some are more obvious than others but all are effective. He makes use of all the
symbolic options to reinforce the messages of the novel. Characters are used to highlight ideas,
places are used to add contrast, and symbols highlight the beliefs of characters and the seasonal
setting aides the building climax (SparkNotes). When analyzing the article, the three obvious
symbols are the green light, the valley of ashes, and the billboard with the watchful eyes, F. Scott
Fitzgeraldput these symbols in there to help the reader understand the meaning of these symbols in
the book. The first symbol in The Great Gatsbyis the glowing green light. Situated at the end of
Daisy s East Egg dock and barely visible from Gatsby s West Egg lawn, the green light represents
Gatsby s hopes and dreams for the future (LitCarts). It represents everything that beckons and
haunts Gatsby like the physical and emotional distance between him and his love Daisy, the gap
between the past... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
T.J. Eckleburg. The eyes of T.J. Eckleburg are a pair of fading, bespectacled eyes painted on an
old advertising billboard over the Valley of Ashes (Study). The eyes that are looking over the
valley represent many things at once: to Nick they seem to symbolize the haunting waste of the
past, which lingers on though it is irretrievably vanished, much like Dr. Eckleburg s medical
practice (LitCharts). The eyes can be linked to Gatsby, whose own eyes, once described as vacant,
often stare out, blankly (LitCharts). This massive billboard symbolizes the tension between
spirituality and materiality in the modern world

Similarities Between Brian Turner And Things Fall Apart
The destruction of the tribe of Umuofia and the death of the innocent civilians in the Iraq War,
are caused by individuals, or a group of people, who impose their will on the hopeless. In the
poem 2000 lbs. by Brian Turner and the story Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, people and
cultures are destroyed and obliterated for no justified reason. 2000 lbs. is a story that describes
one moment in Iraq, where a taxi bomb blows up and shows the point of view of people that are
around the bomb that are being impacted. The story Things Fall Aparttakes place in Africa near the
Niger River, and is told as a story that is passed down through his heritage about the cultural clash
of the invading Europeans and the native Africans. Both stories have... Show more content on

In the two readings, repetition of death and destruction are constantly mentioned, which gives
us a sense that the characters can never get rid of the vicious cycle of violence. An ordinary day
was turned into a nightmare when a man strolling down the street happened to ride his bike past
a taxi loaded with a bomb, ... an instant / of clarity, just before each of them shatters / under the
detonation s wave, / as if even the idea of them were being destroyed, (Turner 602). The
detonation is a thing that takes away from his innocence and makes us believe that he was
hopeless in trying to escape from the wave of destruction. The unmasking and killing of the
egwugwu provokes the Mother of the Spirits, sending her howling throughout the village which is
compared to being the very soul of the tribe [weeping] for a great evil that was coming its own
death (Achebe 187). This foreshadows the inevitable destruction that can directly impact the groups
of people as well as the imposement used to make them lose their ideals and beliefs and instead
replace them with the conquering

Robots Before The Industrial Revolution
Before the Industrial Revolution workers had to manufacture goods with their hands. When the
Industrial Revolution started machines began doing jobs that humans did. Firearms used to be
made by hand and each was unique so they could not easily be fixed. Interchangeable parts were
first used in the firearm industry when French gunsmith Honore promoted idea of using
standardized gun parts. Car manufactures also started using assembly robots. In 1901 Ransom Olds
made and patented a assembly linewhich increased his company s output by 500 percent in one
year. This lead to lower prices for vehicles. In 1961 General Motors installed their own robotarm to
help with the assembly line. The Stanford Arm which is a 6 axis robot that assemble parts in... Show

A PId Control can be used to program the Assembly robots. The sensors on the robot can read its
surroundings and figure out what it needs to do and where an item is located. So the Assembly
robots can adjust if there is a minor change for example a metal bar was located a few inches
from where it should be it can easily respond to this instead of just trying to pick up something
that is not there. We do this by adding a control loop feedback mechanism. This saves a lot of
time and effort for the programmers. Almost every manufacturing line has some type of robot that
they use to be able to produce products faster and easily. These types of robots are good for a
repeated task that humans would get tired of doing and start to make mistakes. The robot decreases
or eliminates the mistakes that a human will make on a repeated task. Some products that are made
with assembly robots are Cars, Ships, Toys, and some engine parts. Researchers are still
experimenting with robots hoping to improve them and make them more efficient and reliable the
future of robots is unpredictable you never know what someone may

Kublai Khan Research Paper
Kublai Khan, who was the grandson of Genghis Khan, ran the largest empire in history. Born in
1215 in Mongolia, he was the first emperor to rule over an entire country. He was not just a
valued leader though, for he trained harshly as a kid to become a skilled fighter, hunter and also
horseman. Philosophy also played a huge role in his lifespan. Kublai Khanstudied philosophy and
chinese culture which later he would find out would help with decision making about ruling.
Becoming ruler in 1260, Kublai Khan established a new capitol calling it Shangdu. Not just that,
but also helping his brother expand the entire kingdom. After being in battle against the Song in

Reunifying China was the biggest accomplishment made by Kublai Khan for he not only moved
capitols but gave people a new look at life (history.com). He not only brought them together though
but made a dynasty of his own, the Yuan Dynasty(enotes.com). This dynasty covered most of
Asia and eastern Europe making it the largest dynasty ever (britannica.com). Accomplishing and
overruling this empire, Kublai Khan was able to show people how truly powerful he was
defeating a military of 500 and more soldiers (zhangzhiyong.cn). As a kid, Kublai Khan was
trained in the defense which likely helped him make his own military as strong as could be. When
he made the Yuan dynasty, they truly improved themselves and surroundings. Rebuilding the
Grand Canal, Kublai Khan opened up a whole new door to trade (britannica.com). With the new
invention of paper money, he was given the chance for his ideas to spread outside his own empire
and impact the rest of the world. Trade routes opened up as Kublai Khan kept improving the
community allowing outsiders to see his empire and learn from

Hezekiah And The Assassination Of Sennacherib King Of Jordan
By 704 BC, Hezekiah s opportunity came. The assassination of Sargon II, lead to Sennacherib
becoming the leader in Assyria. Under his leadership, he attempted to hold the Empire together.
Due to Hezekiah wanting to relinquish his tides with Assyria, he withheld tribute. This was an
open signal of rebellion. Other states in the area joined the rebellion and Hezekiah, in brokering an
alliance with Egypt over the objections of Isaiah became the leader of the revolt. It took
Sennacherib until 701 BC to quiet the other provinces sufficiently to turn his attention to Hezekiah.
However, the Bible records an invasion of Sennacherib king of Assyria, in the 14th year of
Hezekiah king of Judah. Assyrian records also give the account of the invasion of

Hillary Clinton Speech Analysis
At the fourth U.N. conference, Hillary Clinton gave a powerful speech about women s rights.
Hillary Clinton emphasizes that although women have been given more freedom and rights as
the years went by, it still isn t enough. In her speech, Clinton goes on to say that if women are free
from violence, their families will flourish. If women have a chance to work and earn as full and
equal partners in society, their families will flourish. And when families flourish, their communities
and nations do as well . Hillary Clinton used appeals to emotions, logic, and ethics to convey to the
audience that women s rights should be normalized and embraced around the world.
Hillary Rodham Clinton has many titles under her belt such as politician , first lady , senator etc.
but no title gives her a bigger sense of pride than being a woman . She believes to be a woman is
to be strength, power, and grace which she exudes with every step she takes. Growing up, Clinton
always dreamed of being a significant figure in the progression of women s rights. Some of the
prominent steps that Clinton took to pave the way for women and children include: becoming an
advocate for kids and families at the Children s Defense Fund, fighting for the Family and Medical
Leave Act, working to increase funding for childcare, and helping to start the National Campaign to
End Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy.

The Impact of the Internet on Society Essay
The Impact of the Internet on Society
The Internet is, quite literally, a network of networks. It is comprised of ten thousands of
interconnected networks spanning the globe. The computers that form the Internet range from
huge mainframes in research establishments to modest PCs in people s homes and offices. Despite
the recent hype, the Internet is not a new phenomenon. Its roots lie in a collection of computers that
were linked together in the 1970s to form the US Department of Defense s communications
systems. Fearing the consequences of nuclear attack, there was no central computer holding vast
amounts of data, rather the information was dispersed across thousands of machines. A set of rules,
of protocols, known as TCP/IP was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Perhaps most importantly, the Internet offers a new way of doing business. A virtual market place
where customers can, at the push of a button, select goods, place an order and pay using a secure
electronic transaction.
Businesses are discovering the Internet as the most powerful and cost effective tool in history. The
Net provides a faster, more efficient way to work colleagues, customers, vendors and business
partners irrespective of location or operating system harnessing this powerful resource gives
companies strategic advantages by leveraging information into essential business asset. The
technology of the future here today. This is a fact. Businesses making the transition will, and are
prospering; however those that do not will most certainly suffer the consequences.
One of the most commonly asked questions is, Will the Net help me sell more product? The answer
is yes, but in ways you might not expect. The Internet is a communication tool first, not and
advertisement medium. Unlike print or broadcasting media, the Internet is interactive; and unlike
the telephone, it is both visual and content rich. A Web site is an excellent way to reduce costs,
improve customer service, disseminate information and even sell to your market.
Perhaps, the most important facts about the internet are that it contains a wealth of information,
that can be send across the world almost instantly, and that it can unite people in wildly

Inevitability at one point in most of our lives we have to deal with some type of hardship. A lot
of us have experienced first hand or known someone who has had the unfortunate experience of
dealing with a close friend or family member who becomes abusive and aggressive because of drug

with an abusive father and a broken home. Despite the initial light atmosphere of the poem

Someone has to lead in a waltz, which highlights the father s control over the small boy. It isn t
because the boy is being led, but instead the way the father is leading is what makes the dance
not easy. Roethke uses the verb waltz to impose a sense of joy to the poem, because on literal level
the waltz should be easy and smooth, but for the boy and his father it isn t because apparently, their
lives together aren t easy. Continuing the tone of the first stanza, in the second stanza of the poem
the word romped makes their waltz sound carefree, but they romped until the pans/ Slid from the
kitchen shelf. Lines 5 and 6 show how their waltz is causing a violent disruption in their home that
even the boys mother could not tolerate. Again with something that sounds as care free as dancing
with your father Roethke implies an undertone of disturbance and violence that is inevitably taking
a toll on their family and home life. Likewise in the third stanza the speaker mentions that the hand
that held his wrist was battered on one knuckle. Undoubtedly, a hand holding a wrist is more
aggressive and dominant than just a hand holding a hand like in a typical waltz, which is suppose
to a smooth and easy glide. The fathers hand holding the speakers wrist shows both the difference in
the size of their hands and that the speaker waltzes unwillingly. The fact that Roethke chooses the
word battered

Persuasive Speech On You Are Alone
You are alone in a room. You have 2 minutes till your death. You have a phone. Do you make a
call? Who do you call?
Growing up I was led to believe that when you die it will be of old age, in a hospital bed with
loved ones surrounding you. You are able to say goodbye to those you care for and tell them what
you have been waiting and wanting to say. Even if they aren t there it is important to let them
know everything and tell them what they mean to you. And no, this isn t just so you feel better
about yourself it is one of you last acts on this earth, your last chance to say what needs to be said
to those that matter to you. It isn t something that is normally talked about but it needs to be, it is
something that will happen to just about everyone and you need to be prepared.
Guaranteed, this is the hardest thing you will EVER have to do. You can t avoid it, it is
something you will have to do. Many people believe that you should not make this contact to
your family, you should just leave them alone. I think different. This is the last time they will
ever hear your voice or read your message. This small act reflects who you are and is a part of
you that will stay with those people forever. For those people that were tragically lost in the twin
towers attacks, this a decision they were faced with. Many of their families had to answer or
listen to these calls that their loved ones left that they are now so thank full of as all I needed was
that message, and I think that he

Computerized Data Acquisition of a Second Order Reaction Abstract Introduction The rates at
which reactions occur depend on the composition and the temperature of the reaction mixture.
Usually the rate of reaction is found to be proportional to the concentrations of the reactants
raised to a power.1 There are many reactions that have a rate law in the form of: (1) v =
k[A]a[B]b According to reference1 the power to which the concentration of a species (product or

Pros And Cons Of Anorexia
Are laws banning underweight models a good way of protecting models and people from anorexia?
Milan, Italy 2007. In one of the leading and most influencing fashion cities of the world, the

the fashion industry itself and also in the social media. The reaction of the French government was
just a long silence, totally ignoring the importance of what had happened, and the signals that were
indirectly showing the other consequences that models could face in order to practice their
profession. Only in 2015, after some other models shared the same fatal end as Caro because of
anorexia, the French government adapted a new law banning underweight models. The adoption of

Even though main argumentations against personal responsibility include the fact that many
people are just naturally unable to take responsibility, there are too many arguments for personal
responsibility that they just outweigh it. ( What Are The Main Arguments Against Personal

The Effects Of Deviance, Micro Level And Macro Level
There are several theories, which aim to help explain the causes of deviant behavior, however,
not all sociologists agree on the causes. There are two levels to look at when explaining causes
of deviance, micro level and macro level, each level has a different focus. I think that all of the
theories are helpful in explaining the causes of deviance, but I find the differential association
theory to be most insightful. Edwin Sutherland developed the differential association theory in
the 1930 s. The differential association theory includes nine different propositions, which
explain the causes of deviance. Differential association is defined as, social interactions with
deviant as opposed to conventional others (601). This theory basically explains how deviant
behavior can be learned from various interactions. In the documentary, The Interrupters, three
professional ex criminals from Chicago who work at CeaseFire and became Violence
Interrupters are followed. The mission at CeaseFire is to prevent the spread of violence at the
source. One ex criminal, Ameena Matthews whose father was a notorious gang leader, Jeff Fort,
works to prevent violence in Chicago. Ameena Mathews used to be a drug ring enforcer, but was
able to get off the streets. I believe that the main reason why Ameena got caught up in acts of
deviance was because of her social interactions with deviant individuals. As a young child, Ameena
was exposed to deviant acts and individuals, which caused her to

Internal Briefing Report For The Death Of Sharon Jane Miller
Internal Briefing Report for the Death of Sharon Jane Miller Case Summary As a medico legal
investigator, I am tasked to prepare an internal final case briefing report as regards the death of
Sharon Jane Miller. The final case briefing report is intended to help the Chief Medical
Examiner (ME) in determining the cause of the victim s death. As such, this final case briefing
will be attached to the case and the autopsy reports for the ME s perusal. As mentioned above,
the case question is about the death of Sharon Jane Miller, who was born on October 7, 1987.

The CSI arrived at 12:01 PM and the Forensic Investigator (FI) from the ME s Office arrived at

identified at the victim s back and Rigor mortis is all over the victim s muscles. Based on the
information provided by the FI, Dr. Young determined that the time of death (TOD) of the
victim is around 11:30 PM on June 16 to 2:30 AM on June 17. During the autopsy, Dr. Young
discovered that there is a lack of visible cause that led to the victim s death. The contusions and
lacerations received by the victim were neither serious nor deep. Apart from this, Sharon s vital
body organs remained unharmed. However, evidence show that there was a forceful sexual
encounter since there was contusions and lacerations on the Sharon s thighs and her outer vaginal
area. Dr. Young also found out that in there was an ejaculate material on the victim s vaginal
cavity. Although the autopsy revealed that the victim did not receive any fatal injuries, Dr. Young
still collected samples from the victim s body for toxicology. Apart from this, he also took several

Thought Bubble Content Analysis
Introduction
I chose to do my multi genre project on the Twenties. The Twenties have also interested me and
that unit was by far my favorite this semester, so it only seemed right to go deeper into and
expand my learning on it even more. To portray the different changes and new inventions that
came about during this era, I did a drawing. In my drawing, there is a young flapper girl and a
large thought bubble. Inside this bubble, it shows her reflecting on what has happened during the
past ten years.
Thought Bubble Content Explanation
Many important milestones such as Prohibition (the 18th amendment), Women s Suffrage (the 19th
amendment), and the Stock Market Crash in 1929. I chose to portray Prohibition by having a beer

To start with, the Flapper girl (in the lower left corner) was a major iconic figure during this
period. Flappers were women who went against the normality and did not so lady like things.
Many of them did this as self expression and to get there point across. Others did this to join the
movement and be rebellious. Across the top of the paper, there is a border that looks like an old
film reel that is unraveled and the tape is out. This movie reel tape is supposed to represent the
increase and popularity found in movies and acting. It was a form of entertainment, as well as a
hobby for some. Also to go along with the theme of acting and movies, in the title, the 20 s is red
like a stage curtain and has yellow circles which are meant to look like dressing room lights.
Another hint about the title, is that to show the main focus and topic of the drawing. It is also in
bold/ fun colors because that s exactly what the Roaring 20 s were; bold and

Fly By Wire Essay
Aircraft Feature; Fly By Wire Technology Fly by wire is a new technology in aircrafts that has
replaced the manual flight control with electronic controls. In this technology the flight control
signals are converted into electrical signals which are transmitted to the processors through electric
wires and the computer determines the movement of the actuators according to the control
command (Crane 2002). Moreover, this system sends out certain commands to the computer
without any input from the pilot, these commands are mainly transmitted for a more stable flight.
The fly by wire system also allows automatic signals sent by the aircraft s computers to perform
functions without the pilot s input, as in systems that automatically help stabilize the aircraft.
Mechanical and hydro mechanical flight controls system comprise of all heavy steel cables,
metallic pipes with hydraulic fluid, cables and pulleys which adds to the air craft total weight thus
slowing it down and decreasing its full efficiency. Both systems frequently need unnecessary backup
to tackle mechanical failures, which further increases weight. Additionally, both have inadequate
capability to adjust to changing aerodynamic conditions. Dangerous maneuverability such as
stalling, spinning and pilot induced oscillation (PIO), which is dependent chiefly on the strength
and configuration of the aircraft concerned rather than the control system itself, can still occur with
these systems (Crane 2002). The word

Priapism Research Paper
Priapism
Priapism is an unwanted erection of the penis that usually develops without sexual stimulation or
desire. There are three types of priapism:
Recurrent acute priapism. With this type, erections are painful and last less than 3 hours. The
erections come and go.
Acute prolonged priapism. With this type, erections are painful and last hours to days. This type
can lead to erectile dysfunction.
Persistent priapism. With this type, erections are usually painless and can last weeks to years. The
penis gets erect but not rigid. This type can lead to erectile dysfunction.
Priapism affects males of all ages.

Men Have Control Over Women In The Story Of An Hour
Some people believe that once they marry they are giving up their freedom. In some cases, this is
true, especially in the late 19th century. Woman during this period were marrying as young as 15
years old and were marrying men well into their 30s. This caused a lack of communication and
love between a married couple and usually resulted in the man having control over the woman. The
idea of men having control over women in marriagecan be seen in Kate Chopin s The Story of an
Hour. In this short story, Louise Mallard learns of her husband s death due to a fatal train
accident. Sad and alone at first, Mrs. Mallard sits in her room contemplating how she will live now

ACTIVITY 1
What is Leadership?
Leadership may be considered as the process (act) of influencing the activities of an organized
group in its efforts toward goal setting and goal achievement. (Stogdill, 1950: 3)
Leaders set a direction for us all by giving a vision .leaders inspire and encourage. Without
leaderships a group of individuals would degenerates into argument and conflict, because we see
things in different ways and lean towards different solutions. Leadership helps to point us in the
same direction and harness our efforts jointly. (Mills, 2005)

Le Marias Character Analysis
In Act 1 of Le Marias, the two main characters prove to have vastly different personalities. These
characters differences are apparent from the onset of the film. The director shows Elie, a worker at

workers go about their work in a very sociable manner while translating for the artist and the owner
of the factory. The gregarious and affable attitude that the assistant has exaggerates the quietness of
Elie. Due to the assistants seemingly outgoing manner, he is driven by a personal inclination to

conversation. Throughout their discussion, the assistant

Identity In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
To thine own self be true is a respected age old saying, but while it epitomises the value of self
understanding and integrity, society often forces false identities onto individuals. What ensues is a
culture where we constantly act in a way that is not genuine to who we are, to please family,
friends and to follow society s pattern. Revered writer William Shakespeare addresses this theme
over multiple texts, namely Romeo and Juliet, in which two star cross d lovers challenge their
identities with true love, and ultimately forfeit their lives as a result. Shakespeare presents the
notion that despite the pain and suffering that may come with being true to oneself, it is necessary
to achieve authenticity regardless of these consequences. He proves... Show more content on

Thus it is hard for Juliet to challenge her family to be true to herself and be with Romeo, as this
challenge could lead to death. In a similar encounter, Romeo decides that he must reconcile with
Tybalt as being with Juliet is being true to himself, and being with Juliet means becoming kin of
Tybalt. He completely disregards his status as a Montague and his hate for Capulets to prove his
sincerity, by stating, And so, good Capulet which name I tender as dearly as my own be
satisfied. This is another scenario in which Shakespeare shows the pain that comes with
challenging identity, by killing Romeo s dear friend Mercutio in the fight that ensues. The highly
revered modern film Dead Poet s Society (1989) continues Shakespeare s theme through Neil s
journey. Neil attends an elite private school and his parents wish for him to be a doctor, but his
true passion is acting. Upon deciding that [He s] gonna do it! Whether [his] father wants [him] to

The Social Aspect Of School
Experts of sociology recognize five social institutions that have occurred in other civilization s
example government, religion, education, economics, and family. Two specific functions of
schooling greatly influenced my identity; these functions are socialization and future preparation.
The social aspect of schoolis very important. This is how we meet others and how we learn the
ways of our society, religion, and our country. We learn what is appropriate and what is not, how to
behave with others and how to develop our values. The text mentions a hidden curriculum (p.416),
which is the unstated standards of behavior or teacher s expectations. School prepares us not only
for our educational future, but also our social future. Gender, race ethnicity, and social class make
an individual unique in who they will become and how they learn. Gender treatment affects a
person s education, treatment in society, and work environment. Gender discrimination can happen
to anyone, regardless of age, race and ethnicity. Gender is a main belief in society it categorizes
people into male and female, masculine and feminine. (Person learning) An individual who doesn t
emulate the stereotype of their gender roles, public reactions towards the individual can vary from
humiliating to violence. Having my peers, teachers and adults treat me different than others has the

The Benefits Of Legalizing Gambling Essay
People may think of the benefits of legalizing gambling first, but there come clear distinct
problems that could be the result of the legalization. It is without question that there would be
instances of players betting on various games whether it be on games in their league or others,
and would give the leagues another giant problem to monitor of their players. There have already
been clear problems with a variety of players in different sports like John Daly in golf, Michael
Jordan, and Charles Barkley all infamously having gamblingproblems, which could have been
much worse if sports betting were legal in their time. To make it worse, the leagues show a blind
eye to the gambling that is going on currently, and has gone on for some time, within the teams
and organizations and basically no repercussions being put on the team and players. There have
also been situations where people like Tim Donaghy and Pete Rose and infamous for their
gambling habits on games that they were involved in with Rose being a player, and Donaghy a
referee. This brings the largest problem that could be involved with the possibility of games
outcomes being influenced by players or referees connected with possible situations like Tim
Donaghy found himself in during the 2004 NBA season, when he was put under federal
investigation for betting on games. Between that and the Pete Rose ongoing situation with the
MLB, those are considered two of the worst scandals in sports history along with the most

Purpose Of Performance Appraisal Performance
Literature Review Purpose of Performance Appraisal Performance appraisal aims at clarifying
the employees work expectation, improving employee development, linking pay with
performance and assessing workforce development (Mathus and Jackson, 1998). It makes
employees to become aware of the organizations expectations after performance evaluation
which helps them in improving their performance (de Waal, 2004). This is further emphasized
by Gabris and Ihrke (2000) who found out that the main aim of performance appraisal is the
provision of periodic and formal feedback to individual staff members. According to Wanna, et al
(1992), the objective of staff appraisal is to improve planning and service delivery at the general
level and also to provide feedback to individual officers. Thus performance appraisal provides
information to help manage employees in such a way that employee performance improves
(Denisi and Robert, 2006). The ultimate goal of most performance appraisal systems is to
increase employee motivation and productivity The evolution of performance Appraisal can be
traced back to the reign of second caliph of Islam, Hazrat Umar (634 644 A.D /13 23 AH) who
laid the foundations of many State institutions and enunciated several administrative laws that are
being followed and adopted by many nations of the world till today as a role model of true
administration. Hazrat Umar, before appointing an officer for any duty, would thoroughly

extent as the girl in Piercy s poem, I can safely say that young adolescents tend to be quite
multifaceted and sensitive which explains why criticism about one s appearance can damage
their morale. This girl no longer had the will to battle the burdens she was feeling and the lines So

powerful one To every woman a happy ending (Piercy, 867). I disagree that the subject of the

author means to deject the people in the girl s life who only saw her flaws and not her true beauty

The complexity and memory requirements of the algorithm are in the order of
$D_mathcal{D}.{rm N}$, denoted as $O(D_mathcal{D}{rm N})$. The algorithm become more
effective when the minimum difference $Delta Y_k$ is large between the transmission probability
gains $Y_k$. Consequently, our algorithm finds an optimal solution coupled with linear
complexity, when the network become more heterogeneous due to small ${rm N}$. Our
algorithm also finds the optimal solution with an increased complexity, when the network
becomes more homogeneous or less heterogeneous due to increasing ${rm N}$. The
quantization precision ${rm N}$ in Algorithm 1, is a physical quantity specified by the

Symbolism Of The Scarlet Letter
The Scarlet Letter:
Symbolism of the Scarlet A Symbolism has many different meanings, and the Scarlet A in The
Scarlet Letter has many different meanings as well. Hester Prynne is the main character who is
forced to wear the scarlet letter as remembrance for the crime and the sin that she has committed.
This letter completely ruined her reputation in her community. How could a small piece of fabric
do so much harm? This letter was a representation of something much greater than the letter A .
This letter was originally made to stand for adulteress, as physical reminder of her sins. The
vibrant scarlet red is meant to shame Hester, to make her feel sorry for her mistakes. Most
importantly it was a symbol for change and an emblem of identity. In short, the scarlet letter meant
much more than a letter of shame, it was simply a piece of fabric with meaning that could easily
change.
The first representation of the A was adulteress. When Hester Prynneslept with Reverend
Dimmesdale, as a married woman, she became pregnant. The community thought her a widow, and
knew that she could not be pregnant, unless she had committed adultery. The community decided
on a punishment for her crimes, Hester was forced to wear the scarlet A at all times as a reminder
of the sin she had committed before God. In the puritan era sin was utterly unacceptable, and Hester
had committed adultery, a sin punishable by death itself. This brings us to the next symbolic
evidence of the letter.

Many speculate that this is the reason Trump was elected president. Following his election,
President Trump organized a bill to repeal components of Obamacare. The Freedom Caucus, a
group of about three dozen conservatives in Congress, vowed to vote no. Why? The bill did not
go far enough to repeal the Affordable Care Act (Collins 1). Without the votes of the Freedom
Caucus, the bill had no chance of passing and so it was pulled from consideration. The Freedom
Caucus, along with countless Americans, wants more to be done. It is obvious that the Affordable
Care Act needs more than just a bit of reform.
Why is it so important that the Affordable Care Act be repealed? One reason is that Obamacare
has become far too expensive. New health care spending due to Obamacare adds up to an
astounding $1.8 trillion (Senger 1). To help pay for this, Obamacare will cut some aid to Medicare,
which is health insurance aided by tax dollars for those sixty five and older (Auerbach 2). The cuts
from Medicare will be in excess of $700 billion from 2013 to 2022 (Senger 1 2). Unfortunately,
this will heavily affect health care for seniors, because the money from the cuts will not be going
to Medicare, but will go towards paying for Obamacare as a whole. Additionally, the federal
government will take in an amount exceeding $770 billion between 2013 and 2022 because of
Obamacare s eighteen various tax increases (2). It is absolutely absurd

Ms. Chirat
Period 4
May 13, 2017 In the works of Midsummer s Night Dream, Venus and Adonis, and, Shakespeare
uses themes, motifs, allusions, and imagery to suggest his audience reread and deeply analyze
confusing passages several times to fully understand his masterpieces. In the play, A Midsummer s
Night Dream begins with Theseus, Duke of Athens, preparing for his marriage to Hippolyta, Queen
of the Amazons, with a four day festival. Egeus, a citizen of Athens, goes to see Theseus with a
complaint against his daughter: although Egeus has promised Hermia in marriage to Demetrius,
who loves her, Lysander has won Hermia s heart and refuses to obey her father and marry
Demetrius. Theseus speaks to Hermia, warning her to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shakespeare portrays the lovers as overly serious, as each is sincerely busy with his or her own
feelings: Helena is fixed about her looks; Hermia becomes self conscious about her height;
Demetrius is plotting on how to keep Hermia from marrying other men, and Lysander believes he
is the main character/superhero of this great story. (Shakespeare Act II Scene iii) The breezy
world of the fairies and the nonsensical predicaments in which the lovers find themselves is
Shakespeare s way of making light out of their grave concerns. Next, in Venus and Adonis, the
world where there is no man as greatly put together as Adonis. Venus, a goddessof love, sees
Adonis and is filed with love for him. Believing that Adonis is her one and only she has her mind
set on coming down to earth and making Adonis her s. Venus finally got to meet Adonis while he
was on a morning hunt in the fields. Once she catches his attention and encouraging him to
dismount his horse and talk her, Adonis reveals that he has no interest to talk to any woman, but
she eventually forces him to do as she pleases. The more she talks, the more she desires that he
would look at her with kind eyes, but the more Adonis wishes to leave and continue in with his
hunting. Eventually broken free from Venus s arms he gets on his horse

Theory Of Jean Piaget, Lev Vygotsky, And Lawrence Kohlberg
Customized Learning Theory Learning has been studied by numerous psychologist and theories
over the years by men and women around the world such as Jean Piaget, Lev Vygotsky, and
Lawrence Kohlberg. These theorists and psychologists studied ways to improve teaching and
motivating children in learning. The study on how children are learning is important for both the
teacher and the student. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk to them
when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you
rise (Deuteronomy 6:7, English Standard Version, 2017). Teaching the children is the responsibility
as a Christian. As the time passes, it appears that these theories and approaches to learning are
revolutionized as well. The Bible is the most consistent guidance in learning theory that never
appears to change.
Learning Theory and Its Importance Children that knows his or her assignment are more likely to
develop assurance in himself or herself which leads to being more inclined to continuing his or her
involvement in learning. The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know
what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints

Going Clear Is Focused On The Church Of Scientology
The documentary Going Clear is focused on the Church of Scientology. Some of the important
figures in the documentary included Paul Haggis, Lawrence Wright, Sara Goldberg, Spanky Taylor,
and Marthy Rathbun (Going Clear). In this documentary, these former scientologists were
interviewed about their personal experiences, where they revealed information about what actually
happened behind the doors of the Church. The documentary was based on Lawrence Wright s
book, Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood and the Prison of Belief and was a compilation of the
opinions of several former scientologists about the true colors of Scientology and Hubbard s history
(Going Clear). Additionally, these figures shared their beliefs and opinions about Scientology. In
this documentary, there are several effective persuasion techniques which all attempt to persuade
the audience against Scientology. In my paper, I will be discussing these persuasion techniques and
showing the different ways each former scientologist impacts the audience through their stories.
One of the most prominent figures in this documentary was Paul Haggis. Paul is a writer and
filmmaker whose former membership with the Church gives him distinct credibility (Science of
Persuasion YouTube Video). His experiences grab the audience s attention, seeing as he was a
scientologist for three years. Paul spoke out about his experiences with Scientology, calling it a cult
and mentioning many disturbing aspects about the church

Catcher s The Rye, A Phenomenal Work Of Literature
Catcher in the Rye Soundtrack Catcher in the Rye was a phenomenal work of literature. The
novel has been able to withstand the test of time without ever making it to the big screen.
Present day with a movie of the bestselling novel is coming soon, every detail must amaze the
avid reader of the book. This includes, lighting, a flawless director, a cluster of A list actors,
outstanding scenery, and last but certainly not least, a soundtrack that will knock the viewer of
the movie into a sense of amazement. A soundtrack can completely devastate a movie. If there is
a scene where a character in the scene is crying because they lost their friend, it would definitely
be strange if the music in the background was Can t Touch This by M.C. Hammer. Soundtracks
tell the audience what to feel whether it would be fear or excitement. With a soundtrack playing a
critical position in a movie, the songs that have been chosen have transcended more than just the
scenes they are played in, and turned into the embodiment of some of the major themes in the
movie. A great selection for the opening song would be a song by Chance the Rapper called
Finish Line . On this song, Chance the Rapper appears to just spout sentences that just come to
head like the stream of consciousness like Holden. When Holden goes on his particular tangents he
usually is trying to get to a specific point, a finish line. Coincidentally, Holden during the entire
book has been trying to come to some finish line . With

Integrating Technology for Better School Security Essay
Integrating Technology for Better School Security
Using new technology for better school security is not always easy because it is difficult to address
the correct problem with the right equipment, there also exists economic issues, and mental unrest
among staff and students.
School safety is an issue that has been concerning this country for many years. With the populations
of our schools growing, the crime rates with in them have been as well. The student to staff ratio
has greatly increased and there are concerns on how to regulate student behavior as well as crime
prevention among students.
Along with regulating student behavior, more security issues need to be addressed in order to
maintain a safe school. For example, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When dealing with an issue that involves children and a place where they are supposed to feel safe,
you need to consider the mental unrest of students, staff, and parents/community. High intensity
equipment could make a school feel like a prison. The security systems are meant to make the staff
and students feel more secure in their learning environment. Not to scare them into behaving
properly or make them feel imprisoned.
Before technology should be used as a quick fix , the school s individual needs should be
analyzed. If a school was to make a quick move to newer security equipment, they could create a
false sense of security in the school. If the equipment does not address the correct problems, then
the staff and students are under a false impression of security. The equipment that is purchased
could be ineffective and costly. This would mean that the school spent more of its already low
budget on equipment that is not serving a purpose.
Considering to use newer technology for a more secure school should not only be district
specific, but school specific as well. Within a school district there could be several different types
of schools. Those different schools will not always have the same security issues to address. Some
schools may only have security problems vandalism or minor theft. Where other schools in that
same district could be dealing with fights

John Stossel s Speech On Fake News
During his speech at the Energy Department on June 29th, the President of the United States,
Donald J. Trump attacked CNN on its news about decades old fears the U.S. was running out of
oil, saying it was fake (Fabian). The phrase fake news has become a common phase in every
news about President Trump. Since his inauguration, the president has called several media,
including NBC, ABC, CBS, and The New York Times, fake (Stossel). Fake news has a strong
impact on our lives, misleading us in a certain way. It is also widespread, as the internet has
provided a low cost distribution channel for fake news (Rouse). This brings up the debate of to
what extent we encounter fake news in our lives. John Stossel has an answer to this in his article
Fake News . Through his connection with the audiencealong with his use of language and logical
examples, Stossel effectively persuades his conservative American audience that fake news is
prevalent in an unprecedented manner. Throughout the passage, Stossel identifies himself with the
audience by citing authoritative figures and telling a common anecdote, further convincing his
audience that fake news is everywhere. At the beginning of the article, he cites President Trump by
saying, Fake News! shouts our president... (Stossel). President Trump is a renown figure known by
Americans. Many conservative Americans, which constitute the author s main target audience,
support him. By citing President Trump, Stossel is able to

No place has generated so much speculation and wild theories as the standing stones of Stonehenge.
After traveling for miles through the rolling hills and plains of the English countryside the sight of

While I can t say with any degree of certainty what it was for, we can say that it wasn t constructed

gathered I can only ask myself this question:

Its general architecture has also been subjected to centuries of weathering. The monument consists
of a number of structural elements, mostly circular in plan. On the outside is a circular ditch, with a
bank immediately within it, all interrupted by an entrance gap on the northeast, leading to a straight
path called the Avenue. At the center of the circle is a stone setting consisting of a horseshoe of tall
uprights of sarsen (Tertiary sandstone) encircled by a ring of tall sarsen uprights, all originally
capped by horizontal sarsen stones in a post and lintel arrangement. Within the sarsen stone circle
were also configurations of smaller and lighter bluestones (igneous rock of diabase, rhyolite, and
volcanic ash), but most of these bluestones have disappeared. Additional stones include the Altar
Stone, the Slaughter Stone, the Heel Stone, and the Station stones, and the last standing on

The Victory With No Name Essay
The defeat of the first United States army by a coalition of Native Americans is the focus in Collin
Calloway s The Victory with No Name. In this historical account, Calloway addresses what occurred
on November 4th, 1791, when an Indian army consisting of a variety of Indian tribes, led by Little
Turtle and Blue Jacket, ambushed the first American army near the Wabash River to protect
themselves from American expansion of the Northwest Territory. The American army, led by
Revolutionary War veteran Arthur St. Clair, was ill equipped with men, horses, and weaponry, and
ignorant about Indian whereabouts and tactics. Calloway organizes his argument by describing
America s desire for land, the invasion and settlement of Indian land, and the resistance formed by
Native Americans. Calloway continues by illustrating the defeat of the American army and the
aftermath of the battle between Native Americans and the U.S. By drawing on extensive historical
evidence that illustrated the events before, during, and after the battle, Calloway presents a detailed
historical narrative that challenges the idea that winners write the history...even when they lose and
offers a narrative that shows both the Native American and the U.S. perspective, ultimately giving
credit to the Indians for their victory. However, Calloway provides information that is irrelevant to
his argument and the book, which makes it difficult to follow along throughout the story. The

Video Games and Violence
There are probably millions and billions of video games sold every year to people. Some people
seem to believe that violence correlates directly with video games. Video games are something
that is usually a big interest in people at the ages of 13 to 19 years old. Video games usually start
off as a little fun and then turn into a major hobby for some people. Emotions change based on
whatever happens while a person is engaging in these games most of the time. These games are
another way to observe how people react emotionally to these games.
These video games have ratings made officially by the Entertainment Software Rating Board or
ESRB for short. Video game ratings go in a specific order ranging from Rated EC which means
Early Childhood to Rated RP which means Rating Pending. There are also more ratings in this
guide such as Rated E for Everyone and Rated T for Teens ages 13 and older ( ESRB Ratings Guide
).These video game ratings help the person who is purchasing these games by showing what age is
recommended for the person to be able to play the games.
The Entertainment Software Ratings Board also makes content descriptors. These tell the people
who are buying these games what the game they are buying contains such as, blood and gore
which contains content only for ages 18 and up. Another descriptor is known as use of drugs which
is described as anything involving illegal drugs. Violent References is another content descriptor
which deals with killing people or

The Effect Of Abundance Of Nutrients On Plant Morphology...
All plants rely on nutrients to help them repair damaged cells and grow, each nutrient with its own
benefit. For example, selenium increases plant resilience within harsh climates. Plant morphology
and growth is especially important for crops that are in high demand such as winter wheat grain
which has one of the highest worldwide production rates. The effect of the abundance of nutrients
on plantmorphology is further investigated in this study. This study entails winter wheatseeds being
placed in treatments of different concentrations of nutrients and observed and measured after two
weeks have passed. By keeping the environment constant, the effect of each treatment was measured
exclusively. The plants in the treatment without nutrients were noticeable shorter than those in the
treatments which contained nutrients. The results found suggest that the concentration of nutrients
is not as important so long as nutrients are included in the treatment.
Nutrients are an essential resource needed for plants to grow and replenish. They can be divided
into two main subgroups macronutrients and micronutrients. Most nutrients are absorbed through
the root hairs and can be used to repair tissues as well as run important processes such as
photosynthesis (Rush et al. 2016). For example, the nutrient Selenium is known to increase the
resilience of plants in harsh environments. In an experiment completed to see the effects of
selenium on wheat growth, it was noted that the Selenium

The Truth About Kennedy s Assassination
The Truth About Kennedy s Assassination
There needs to be more explaining and evidence on about President Kennedy s assassination
because what the government says is nonsense and doesn t line up. The government says it was
Oswald, but how could that be he had a wife and kids, so why would he want to go away from
them and go to prison? There s things that the government has concealed from the public. Just
something seems to be off about the government s explanation. I m going to try to give an
explanation for what seems to be the truth due to the information I found in the article The JFK
Assassination .
See, here s what I think is that Oswald was a part of a larger conspiracy than we know, but in this
conspiracy he is innocent. Also instead of Oswald it was the government, a bar owner(Jack
Ruby), and the mob did it because how would someone be calm and have no sweat if he did shoot
Kennedy? In addition, be on the 6th floor, then get on the 4th floor in ninety seconds and still have
regular breathing?
Now you might be saying, What why would they have? . There s an explanation which is that the
government didn t like Kennedy. I think this because he made the mob angry and the government
didn t like that he did. Now Jack Ruby had connections to police and they work for the ... Show

You might agree, disagree, or even be more confused than before. Either way I just had to take
my freedom of speech to make this assassination more into reality unlike the government. This is
my explanation and this should be clearing up some of the questions or maybe leaves us with
more questions. I even still have a few questions, but my main question is if my theory is correct
that they government was involved, then why didn t they just kill him along time before if they
did want him dead? I also can answer my question which is that they wanted the right time, in front
of a huge crowd to keep it a mystery to everyone

The Short Speech Of Apple
Question One: What strikes you as surprising in these videos? Why? According to the videos,
which existing assumptions must be challenged?
After watching these videos, two things surprise me. First, I am surprised by Political frame,
which presents the conflict side of an organization because I have never think about this side of an
organization. When it comes to the views of a company, I may normally ignore the political side
and just focus on the structures, managers and employees. After watching this video, I finally
recognized the importance of the political frame for a company. What s more, the Framing
Organization put the symbolic as one of the four parts of the frames surprise me. I would think that
the symbolic of a company is important, but I have never put it on a same importance level as
structural and human resources. One thing does not surprise me, but I want to mention is the short
speech of Apple. A company, which is greatly collaborative, like Apple, has had the basis to success.
In my opinion, there are two existing assumptions must be challenged: role of employees and
importance of collaborations. The existing assumption, which is managers decide everything and
employees are not considerable must be changed. In new perceptions, human resources has became
one of the most important parts of an organization. Employees actually the people who creates
profits and their importance is not lower that employers and managers. The assumption that will

  • 3. The Degradation of Women in Hip-Hop Music Videos and... Hip hop began in the 1970s in the south Bronx of New York and served a cathartic purpose for the black community. People could explore issues such as the eradication of racism and equality, but since Hip hop was created, the cathartic use has been abused through the increased use of misogynistic lyrics and music videos. Artists like Ludacris, 50 Cent and Eminem portray women nothing more than ho s , bitches and freaks . Nothing more than sex objects; and yet, their biggest fan base is adolescents, this is dreadful as neuroscientists have discovered that the teenage brain still undergoes the same radical development as seen in childhood . Teenagers are easily influenced through their formative years ; as they are consuming music videos... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Nicki calls herself Nicki Lewinsky it also tells her fans that she also performs this. Nicki Minaj has done numerous things to make herself a celebrity; she had undergone cosmetic surgeries several times to look (what she believes) is sexy. She is an eccentric character, but what would persuade a woman to enhance her body so much? In an Interview with Vibe Magazine, Nicki stated, When I grew up I saw females doing certain things, and I thought I had to do that exactly. The female rappers of my day spoke about sex a lot... and I thought that to have the success they got; I would have to represent the same thing. When in fact I didn t have to represent the same thing , this is the perfect example of the hypodermic needle theory at work. As Nicki Minaj grew up, her inspirations were Foxy Brown and Lil Kim. Nicki Minaj was also a passive watcher, as she watched all her favourite artists perform and talk about women in a degrading way. The affects of this on Nicki was she also became thinking like a woman who had no respect. Kimberly Lil Kim Jones is an American singer songwriter and rapper who was associated with rapper Notorious B.I.G. • 4. Reflection On My Experience Of An Unxamined Life Summer Reflection I will not reflect on what I did this summer. Socrates once said, An unexamined life is a life not worth living. I must refute. An unexamined life is the only life worth living. I live my life gazing into the future, unburdened by the past. In fact, I have never looked into a mirror, never taken a bath, never looked out of a window at night. When my friends have the hiccups, I take them on a joyride. Switching lanes always cures the hiccups. Another advantage is you never have to adjust non existent mirrors. In the glovebox of my car lies my reflection free permit. It prevents me from seeing the cops. Other people are always so vain, obsessing over how they look. They re transparent, insignificant, mirages, reflections. However, I am opaque. If I reflected on my summer, it would dilute the vividness, the complexity, the intrigue. Actually, my only reflection is that my summer was so fantastic that I regret having to return to school. Ever since fourth grade when I picked up the name toilet pants, I ve picked up a dislike for the place. I have an incapability. No, I have an enlightenment. Not writing a reflection is the better decision because it allows me to avoid being bogged down by the past. Retrospection must not taint my memories. A reflection isn t something you can keep to yourself, a sequestered treasure nestled in the subconscious. Society and success demand that we expose ourselves. This exposure can be about the time my dog died or the time my ice cream fell from the cone or the time my favorite racecar was stolen. I ve never tried reflecting, of course. Let other people do the reflecting. Why should I have to do the reflecting? Others can reflect for me. If they tried hard enough, some of my enlightenment might rub off on them. They can reflect on why I don t reflect. In my house, there are no family ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Art Institute Of Californi Hollywood Visual Language and Culture Final Project: Research Essay Leonard Hermoso Art Institute of California: Hollywood Abstract Since its early days, the media have always had a hand at molding who we are as a society. It is an extension of our culture and who we are. It has been a conduit of knowledge and information from person to person. A consistent attribute of media is the desire of the elites to control it and a resistance from people that want more freedom from such influences. Today, it is all around us, affecting most, if not all, of our daily lives. It influences how kids grow up in our society. It creates ideals that we want so much to achieve; labels us in order to promote the consumer culture. Being filled with media all the time, it can affect our society in a way that most people would think are negative. It can be a source of unrealistic expectations, a distorted look on reality, a distorted image of beauty and a reason health to deteriorate, be it physically or mentally. The media is a blessing for us, but one must be careful with it for it will always be accompanied with things that can have a negative effect on us. The media has become a part of us, a part of something that shapes who we are, our desires, and what we expect to have in life. Throughout his book: Understanding Media Cultures: Social Theory and Mass Communication, Stevenson Nick asserted that the media has become an extension of who we are, and an extension of what we have become and can ... • 6. Symbols In The Great Gatsby Symbols play a huge role in The Great Gatsby, they add to the understanding that the reader takes from the novel. A symbol is an object, character, figure or color that is used to represent an abstract idea or concept. F. Scott Fitzgerald uses many symbols throughout the novel to highlight key ideas, some are more obvious than others but all are effective. He makes use of all the symbolic options to reinforce the messages of the novel. Characters are used to highlight ideas, places are used to add contrast, and symbols highlight the beliefs of characters and the seasonal setting aides the building climax (SparkNotes). When analyzing the article, the three obvious symbols are the green light, the valley of ashes, and the billboard with the watchful eyes, F. Scott Fitzgeraldput these symbols in there to help the reader understand the meaning of these symbols in the book. The first symbol in The Great Gatsbyis the glowing green light. Situated at the end of Daisy s East Egg dock and barely visible from Gatsby s West Egg lawn, the green light represents Gatsby s hopes and dreams for the future (LitCarts). It represents everything that beckons and haunts Gatsby like the physical and emotional distance between him and his love Daisy, the gap between the past... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... T.J. Eckleburg. The eyes of T.J. Eckleburg are a pair of fading, bespectacled eyes painted on an old advertising billboard over the Valley of Ashes (Study). The eyes that are looking over the valley represent many things at once: to Nick they seem to symbolize the haunting waste of the past, which lingers on though it is irretrievably vanished, much like Dr. Eckleburg s medical practice (LitCharts). The eyes can be linked to Gatsby, whose own eyes, once described as vacant, often stare out, blankly (LitCharts). Similarities Between Brian Turner And Things Fall Apart The destruction of the tribe of Umuofia and the death of the innocent civilians in the Iraq War, are caused by individuals, or a group of people, who impose their will on the hopeless. In the poem 2000 lbs. by Brian Turner and the story Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, people and cultures are destroyed and obliterated for no justified reason. 2000 lbs. is a story that describes one moment in Iraq, where a taxi bomb blows up and shows the point of view of people that are around the bomb that are being impacted. The story Things Fall Aparttakes place in Africa near the Niger River, and is told as a story that is passed down through his heritage about the cultural clash of the invading Europeans and the native Africans. Both stories have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the two readings, repetition of death and destruction are constantly mentioned, which gives us a sense that the characters can never get rid of the vicious cycle of violence. An ordinary day was turned into a nightmare when a man strolling down the street happened to ride his bike past a taxi loaded with a bomb, ... an instant / of clarity, just before each of them shatters / under the detonation s wave, / as if even the idea of them were being destroyed, (Turner 602). The detonation is a thing that takes away from his innocence and makes us believe that he was hopeless in trying to escape from the wave of destruction. The unmasking and killing of the egwugwu provokes the Mother of the Spirits, sending her howling throughout the village which is compared to being the very soul of the tribe [weeping] for a great evil that was coming its own death (Achebe 187). This foreshadows the inevitable destruction that can directly impact the groups of people as well as the imposement used to make them lose their ideals and beliefs and instead replace them with the conquering ... When the Industrial Revolution started machines began doing jobs that humans did. Firearms used to be made by hand and each was unique so they could not easily be fixed. Interchangeable parts were first used in the firearm industry when French gunsmith Honore promoted idea of using standardized gun parts. Car manufactures also started using assembly robots. In 1901 Ransom Olds made and patented a assembly linewhich increased his company s output by 500 percent in one year. This lead to lower prices for vehicles. We do this by adding a control loop feedback mechanism. This saves a lot of time and effort for the programmers. Almost every manufacturing line has some type of robot that they use to be able to produce products faster and easily. These types of robots are good for a repeated task that humans would get tired of doing and start to make mistakes. The robot decreases or eliminates the mistakes that a human will make on a repeated task. Some products that are made with assembly robots are Cars, Ships, Toys, and some engine parts. Researchers are still experimenting with robots hoping to improve them and make them more efficient and reliable the future of robots is unpredictable you never know what someone may ... • 11. Hillary Clinton Speech Analysis At the fourth U.N. conference, Hillary Clinton gave a powerful speech about women s rights. Hillary Clinton emphasizes that although women have been given more freedom and rights as the years went by, it still isn t enough. In her speech, Clinton goes on to say that if women are free from violence, their families will flourish. If women have a chance to work and earn as full and equal partners in society, their families will flourish. And when families flourish, their communities and nations do as well . Hillary Clinton used appeals to emotions, logic, and ethics to convey to the audience that women s rights should be normalized and embraced around the world. Hillary Rodham Clinton has many titles under her belt such as politician , first lady , senator etc. but no title gives her a bigger sense of pride than being a woman . She believes to be a woman is to be strength, power, and grace which she exudes with every step she takes. Growing up, Clinton always dreamed of being a significant figure in the progression of women s rights. Some of the prominent steps that Clinton took to pave the way for women and children include: becoming an advocate for kids and families at the Children s Defense Fund, fighting for the Family and Medical Leave Act, working to increase funding for childcare, and helping to start the National Campaign to End Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy. It is comprised of ten thousands of interconnected networks spanning the globe. The computers that form the Internet range from huge mainframes in research establishments to modest PCs in people s homes and offices. Despite the recent hype, the Internet is not a new phenomenon. Its roots lie in a collection of computers that were linked together in the 1970s to form the US Department of Defense s communications systems. The Net provides a faster, more efficient way to work colleagues, customers, vendors and business partners irrespective of location or operating system harnessing this powerful resource gives companies strategic advantages by leveraging information into essential business asset. The technology of the future here today. This is a fact. Businesses making the transition will, and are prospering; however those that do not will most certainly suffer the consequences. One of the most commonly asked questions is, Will the Net help me sell more product? The answer is yes, but in ways you might not expect. The Internet is a communication tool first, not and advertisement medium. A lot of us have experienced first hand or known someone who has had the unfortunate experience of dealing with a close friend or family member who becomes abusive and aggressive because of drug or alcohol related problems. My Papa s waltzis a poem that tells the story of a young boydealing with an abusive father and a broken home. Despite the initial light atmosphere of the poem Theodore Roethke uses strong and powerful language to convey an underlined meaning to their dance. It isn t because the boy is being led, but instead the way the father is leading is what makes the dance not easy. Roethke uses the verb waltz to impose a sense of joy to the poem, because on literal level the waltz should be easy and smooth, but for the boy and his father it isn t because apparently, their lives together aren t easy. Continuing the tone of the first stanza, in the second stanza of the poem the word romped makes their waltz sound carefree, but they romped until the pans/ Slid from the kitchen shelf. Lines 5 and 6 show how their waltz is causing a violent disruption in their home that even the boys mother could not tolerate. Again with something that sounds as care free as dancing with your father Roethke implies an undertone of disturbance and violence that is inevitably taking a toll on their family and home life. Likewise in the third stanza the speaker mentions that the hand that held his wrist was battered on one knuckle. Undoubtedly, a hand holding a wrist is more aggressive and dominant than just a hand holding a hand like in a typical waltz, which is suppose to a smooth and easy glide. The fathers hand holding the speakers wrist shows both the difference in the size of their hands and that the speaker waltzes unwillingly. The fact that Roethke chooses the word battered ... Many people believe that you should not make this contact to your family, you should just leave them alone. I think different. This is the last time they will ever hear your voice or read your message. This small act reflects who you are and is a part of you that will stay with those people forever. For those people that were tragically lost in the twin towers attacks, this a decision they were faced with. Computerized Data Acquisition of a Second Order Reaction Abstract Introduction The rates at which reactions occur depend on the composition and the temperature of the reaction mixture. • 18. The Effects Of Deviance, Micro Level And Macro Level There are several theories, which aim to help explain the causes of deviant behavior, however, not all sociologists agree on the causes. There are two levels to look at when explaining causes of deviance, micro level and macro level, each level has a different focus. I think that all of the theories are helpful in explaining the causes of deviance, but I find the differential association theory to be most insightful. Edwin Sutherland developed the differential association theory in the 1930 s. The differential association theory includes nine different propositions, which explain the causes of deviance. Differential association is defined as, social interactions with deviant as opposed to conventional others (601). This theory basically explains how deviant behavior can be learned from various interactions. In the documentary, The Interrupters, three professional ex criminals from Chicago who work at CeaseFire and became Violence Interrupters are followed. The mission at CeaseFire is to prevent the spread of violence at the source. One ex criminal, Ameena Matthews whose father was a notorious gang leader, Jeff Fort, works to prevent violence in Chicago. Ameena Mathews used to be a drug ring enforcer, but was able to get off the streets. I believe that the main reason why Ameena got caught up in acts of deviance was because of her social interactions with deviant individuals. As a young child, Ameena was exposed to deviant acts and individuals, which caused her to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. Fly By Wire Essay Aircraft Feature; Fly By Wire Technology Fly by wire is a new technology in aircrafts that has replaced the manual flight control with electronic controls. In this technology the flight control signals are converted into electrical signals which are transmitted to the processors through electric wires and the computer determines the movement of the actuators according to the control command (Crane 2002). Moreover, this system sends out certain commands to the computer without any input from the pilot, these commands are mainly transmitted for a more stable flight. The fly by wire system also allows automatic signals sent by the aircraft s computers to perform functions without the pilot s input, as in systems that automatically help stabilize the aircraft. Mechanical and hydro mechanical flight controls system comprise of all heavy steel cables, metallic pipes with hydraulic fluid, cables and pulleys which adds to the air craft total weight thus slowing it down and decreasing its full efficiency. Both systems frequently need unnecessary backup to tackle mechanical failures, which further increases weight. Additionally, both have inadequate capability to adjust to changing aerodynamic conditions. Dangerous maneuverability such as stalling, spinning and pilot induced oscillation (PIO), which is dependent chiefly on the strength and configuration of the aircraft concerned rather than the control system itself, can still occur with these systems (Crane 2002). What ensues is a culture where we constantly act in a way that is not genuine to who we are, to please family, friends and to follow society s pattern. Revered writer William Shakespeare addresses this theme over multiple texts, namely Romeo and Juliet, in which two star cross d lovers challenge their identities with true love, and ultimately forfeit their lives as a result. He completely disregards his status as a Montague and his hate for Capulets to prove his sincerity, by stating, And so, good Capulet which name I tender as dearly as my own be satisfied. It is without question that there would be instances of players betting on various games whether it be on games in their league or others, and would give the leagues another giant problem to monitor of their players. There have already been clear problems with a variety of players in different sports like John Daly in golf, Michael Jordan, and Charles Barkley all infamously having gamblingproblems, which could have been much worse if sports betting were legal in their time. To make it worse, the leagues show a blind eye to the gambling that is going on currently, and has gone on for some time, within the teams and organizations and basically no repercussions being put on the team and players. • 32. Purpose Of Performance Appraisal Performance Literature Review Purpose of Performance Appraisal Performance appraisal aims at clarifying the employees work expectation, improving employee development, linking pay with performance and assessing workforce development (Mathus and Jackson, 1998). It makes employees to become aware of the organizations expectations after performance evaluation which helps them in improving their performance (de Waal, 2004). This is further emphasized by Gabris and Ihrke (2000) who found out that the main aim of performance appraisal is the provision of periodic and formal feedback to individual staff members. According to Wanna, et al (1992), the objective of staff appraisal is to improve planning and service delivery at the general level and also to provide feedback to individual officers. Thus performance appraisal provides information to help manage employees in such a way that employee performance improves (Denisi and Robert, 2006). The ultimate goal of most performance appraisal systems is to increase employee motivation and productivity The evolution of performance Appraisal can be traced back to the reign of second caliph of Islam, Hazrat Umar (634 644 A.D /13 23 AH) who laid the foundations of many State institutions and enunciated several administrative laws that are being followed and adopted by many nations of the world till today as a role model of true administration. A thirst for evil held by Cholly Breedlove forms when he and Blue Jack ate the heart of a watermelon at a Fourth of July picnic, at which Cholly witnesses a demonic scene making Cholly prefer the devil over God. The poem Barbie Doll by Marge Piercy and Suicide Note by Janice Mirikitani are both about how two young women could no long take the pressures society placed upon them. Although the two poems have a very different tone, language, and structure the same underlying theme exists. In both poems the girls struggle to be perfect and to conform to the desires of others. Both women in the poems ultimately commit suicidebecause they can no longer live with the criticism and lack of acceptance that they face. Being told what and how to be from a young age will take its toll on any person especially an impressionable teenager. Being that I have experienced these pressures, although not to the same extent as the girl in Piercy s poem, I can safely say that young adolescents tend to be quite multifaceted and sensitive which explains why criticism about one s appearance can damage their morale. This girl no longer had the will to battle the burdens she was feeling and the lines So she cut off her nose and legs and offered them up make reference to the fact that she committed suicide (Piercy, 867). I get the feeling in the last stanza that the girl may have had some physically altering surgery sometime before she took her life. Ironically, it is only when the young woman is lying dead in a casket that people begin to acknowledge her beauty. The last line is a very powerful one To every woman a happy ending (Piercy, 867). I disagree that the subject of the poem truly had a happy ending, but I do not feel the author meant it literally either. It seems the author means to deject the people in the girl s life who only saw her flaws and not her true beauty and intelligence. • 40. Symbolism Of The Scarlet Letter The Scarlet Letter: Symbolism of the Scarlet A Symbolism has many different meanings, and the Scarlet A in The Scarlet Letter has many different meanings as well. Hester Prynne is the main character who is forced to wear the scarlet letter as remembrance for the crime and the sin that she has committed. This letter completely ruined her reputation in her community. How could a small piece of fabric do so much harm? This letter was a representation of something much greater than the letter A . This letter was originally made to stand for adulteress, as physical reminder of her sins. The vibrant scarlet red is meant to shame Hester, to make her feel sorry for her mistakes. Most importantly it was a symbol for change and an emblem of identity. In short, the scarlet letter meant much more than a letter of shame, it was simply a piece of fabric with meaning that could easily change. The first representation of the A was adulteress. When Hester Prynneslept with Reverend Dimmesdale, as a married woman, she became pregnant. The community thought her a widow, and knew that she could not be pregnant, unless she had committed adultery. The community decided on a punishment for her crimes, Hester was forced to wear the scarlet A at all times as a reminder of the sin she had committed before God. In the puritan era sin was utterly unacceptable, and Hester had committed adultery, a sin punishable by death itself. This brings us to the next symbolic evidence of the letter. ... Following his election, President Trump organized a bill to repeal components of Obamacare. The Freedom Caucus, a group of about three dozen conservatives in Congress, vowed to vote no. Why? The bill did not go far enough to repeal the Affordable Care Act (Collins 1). Without the votes of the Freedom Caucus, the bill had no chance of passing and so it was pulled from consideration. The Freedom Caucus, along with countless Americans, wants more to be done. It is obvious that the Affordable Care Act needs more than just a bit of reform. Why is it so important that the Affordable Care Act be repealed? One reason is that Obamacare has become far too expensive. New health care spending due to Obamacare adds up to an astounding $1.8 trillion (Senger 1). To help pay for this, Obamacare will cut some aid to Medicare, which is health insurance aided by tax dollars for those sixty five and older (Auerbach 2). The cuts from Medicare will be in excess of $700 billion from 2013 to 2022 (Senger 1 2). Unfortunately, this will heavily affect health care for seniors, because the money from the cuts will not be going to Medicare, but will go towards paying for Obamacare as a whole. In this historical account, Calloway addresses what occurred on November 4th, 1791, when an Indian army consisting of a variety of Indian tribes, led by Little Turtle and Blue Jacket, ambushed the first American army near the Wabash River to protect themselves from American expansion of the Northwest Territory. The American army, led by Revolutionary War veteran Arthur St. Clair, was ill equipped with men, horses, and weaponry, and ignorant about Indian whereabouts and tactics. Calloway organizes his argument by describing America s desire for land, the invasion and settlement of Indian land, and the resistance formed by Native Americans. Calloway continues by illustrating the defeat of the American army and the aftermath of the battle between Native Americans and the U.S. By drawing on extensive historical evidence that illustrated the events before, during, and after the battle, Calloway presents a detailed historical narrative that challenges the idea that winners write the history...even when they lose and offers a narrative that shows both the Native American and the U.S. perspective, ultimately giving credit to the Indians for their victory. For example, selenium increases plant resilience within harsh climates. Plant morphology and growth is especially important for crops that are in high demand such as winter wheat grain which has one of the highest worldwide production rates. The effect of the abundance of nutrients on plantmorphology is further investigated in this study. This study entails winter wheatseeds being placed in treatments of different concentrations of nutrients and observed and measured after two weeks have passed. By keeping the environment constant, the effect of each treatment was measured exclusively. The plants in the treatment without nutrients were noticeable shorter than those in the treatments which contained nutrients. The results found suggest that the concentration of nutrients is not as important so long as nutrients are included in the treatment. Nutrients are an essential resource needed for plants to grow and replenish. They can be divided into two main subgroups macronutrients and micronutrients. Most nutrients are absorbed through the root hairs and can be used to repair tissues as well as run important processes such as photosynthesis (Rush et al. 2016).
