WHAT IS MONOSTABLE TIMER?
 555 Timer : It’s a timing circuit that
can produce accurately and highly
stable time delays or oscillation.
 Mode of Operations :
 Monostable operation
 Bistable operation
 Astable Operation
3
MONOSTABLE OPERATION
Monostable Multivibrators
have only ONE stable state and
produce a single output pulse
when it is triggered externally.
Monostable Multivibrators only
return back to their first
original and stable state after a
period of time determined by
the time constant of
the RC coupled circuit.
• Generates a single state.
• Single output pulse
4
INPUT OUTPUT WAVESHAPES
5
APPLICATIONS
 Water-level Fill control.
 Touch Switch
 Frequency Divider
 Missing Pulse Detector
