4. Personal Interest Project
• You will be completing a project on a topic that you are interested in.
• This topic HAS TO RELATE BACK TO SCIENCE.
• There will be four parts to the Project due at different times (as seen
below).
• This project will be completed mainly IN CLASS.
• It is YOUR RESPONISBILITY to use your time wisely.
• You will have today and tomorrow to brainstorm and pick a topic.
YOUR TOPIC MUST BE CHOSEN BY THE END OF CLASS
TOMORROW, MAY 20.
• This project will be worth a 100-point Project Grade. There will be
Check In Points along the way of the project that will count as class
work grades.
• You may work with one other person or by yourself. IF you work with
a partner, EACH PERSON IS REPSONIBLE FOR DOING THEIR
PART OF THE PROJECT. EACH PERSON WILL NEED TO
COMPLETE PARTS 1 AND 2 SEPERATLEY.
5. Part 1:Gathering your Information
Due Wednesday 5/28/14
• Fill out the Gathering Information sheet about your topic.
• This information MUST BE TYPED.
• You will use the information that you gather to complete
Parts 2, 3, and 4 of your project.
6. Part 2: Making your Lesson Plan
Due Monday 6/2/14
• You will create a lesson plan to use to teach the class
about your topic.
• This lesson Plan will be used for your visual that you will
create and your Presentation.
• A lesson Plan template will be provided for you to fill out.
Make sure you include any handouts that you create for
your lesson.
• Copies of handouts will NOT BE MADE AFTER
THURSDAY June 5!!
7. Part 3: Creating a Visual
Due Thursday 6/5/14
• You will create a visual to go along with your lesson
presentation.
• Options are making a PowerPoint presentation, a Prezi
presentation, or a large poster. If you have another idea, please
get it approved before starting.
• Your visual will need to include:
• Topic name
• Presenters
• Interesting facts
• How to…
• Lesson Plan
• Pictures/ videos that relate to your topic
8. Part 4: Presenting your Lesson
6/9-6/13
• You will sign up for a time to present your Personal Interest
Lesson Presentation.
• You presentation should last 12-15 minutes.
• In your presentation you need to make sure you have…
• Topic Name
• Objective for the lesson
• Warm Up (how will you start your lesson?)
• Learning Activity (What will you have the class doing?)
• Reflection/ Exit Ticket
• VISUAL
14. Picking a Topic
• You need to pick a topic to research by the end of today’s
class
• Once you have told me your topic, you will then get a
“Gathering Info” Sheet to start working on
