Transport  Infrastructure
Infrastructure plays a key role in developing and maintaining
economic capacity. National priority has focused on the
development of water, energy, transport and IT infrastructure.
MODE has long recognised the importance of strong
infrastructure systems in delivering sustainable, productive and
liveable communities.
Throughout Australia, MODE have been involved in the
development of rail, port and airport facilities and understand
the immense value these projects deliver to cities and regions.
MODE’s experience also includes the development and upgrading
of defence facilities throughout the country. The scale and
complexity of these projects cannot be underestimated, and the
difficulties working with secure, operational facilities are widely
understood practices at MODE.

Client: Brisbane Airport Corporation
The Common User Terminal is a unique space at the Brisbane Domestic Terminal building in that
it facilitates both passenger arrivals and departures in the one space for low cost carriers. With
space at a premium and passenger flow projections scheduled to grow exponentially, MODE were
commissioned to collaborate with Brisbane Airport Corporation to automate the check in facility
and improve processing time for both check in and arrivals; allowing increased dwell times in the
retail space.

Client: Virgin Australia, Hansen Yuncken  Brisbane Airport Corporation
The satellite infill was designed to facilitate the increased passenger flow; expanding the current
wait space by infilling the satellite garden. With the creation of new floor areas on Levels 1 and 2, the
design optimises the available area for development and greater commuter numbers while upgrading
facilities to accommodate code D/E. This design allows for the expansion of the Virgin workplace.

Client: King Island Council
This design delivered a vibrant, open plan terminal with plenty of lighting and natural ventilation
that blends internal and external elements. The form celebrates the island’s farming heritage and
shed vernacular with juxtaposed pods allowing for various functional requirements. The King Island
Airport Terminal upgrade was designed to optimise efficiencies for critical transport services to
ensure that the provision of high quality airport services was maximised.

Client: Brisbane Airport Corporation
The primary concept of this project focused on creating an arrival identity for Brisbane, improving
the arrival experience, as well as upgrading the operational and performance requirements for the
Arrivals Hall and transition spaces between Immigration and Customs. The theme focused on
creating a welcome mat to Brisbane that left a positive and lasting image on passengers. The concept
included the implementation of digital savvy, diverse language and family friendly wait spaces.

Client: Bombardier  Laing O'Rourke
The design of Queensland Rail’s new $190 million purpose built, state-of-the-art rollingstock facility was
undertaken by MODE within the Bombardier led PPP Consortium, QTECTIC. The facility was awarded
the National Smart Architecture Award for its use of 4D BIM, resulting in construction efficiencies,
reduced costs and early delivery. The design of the facility is based on both operational and construction
efficiencies; safe movement of trains, vehicles and staff around the site, quality and supporting the local
economy. Key features of the facility include a dedicated under floor wheel lathe, cleaning and decanting
facilities, raised rail and in-ground lifting capabilities for improved maintenance operations.

Client: Bombardier  Laing O'Rourke
MODE is currently undertaking the public private partnership (PPP) bid design of the new High Capacity Metro Trains
(HCMT) maintenance facilities in Pakenham East, which includes a train maintenance facility and stabling yard, as part
of the Bombardier Consortium. The PPP also includes a secondary Light Service facility in Calder Park to support
the heavy maintenance of trains at Pakenham. Up to 65 new high capacity trains and a depot will be delivered as an
‘availability based’ PPP, providing a dedicated train fleet for the Cranbourne- Pakenham line. The facilities will have
the flexibility to cater to the future rolling stock maintenance needs of the network. The trains are planned to be able
to carry 1100 passengers, with the ability to be lengthened to carry more than 1600 passengers if needed.

Integrated Development
The art of master planning cities, urban infill, open space networks
and commercial precincts is founded on the dynamics of
understanding communities and people as individuals. MODE's
designers unify the urban form, environment, circulation of
multi-model transport and infrastructure with a sense of the
scale reflective of the individual to create site-responsive designs
that are tailored to the commercial outcomes of clients and the
policies of regulatory authorities.
Trends influencing the development of public works have seen a
recent framework shift in a direction that encourages integrated
development over independent typologies. Mixed use projects
integrating both long-term and short-stay residential facilities
with commercial, entertainment and retail precincts are emerging
on city fringes. These new integrated developments have placed
considerable pressure on aging commercial building stock.
MODE work collaboratively with their clients to be able to
revitalise all existing building stock and urban spaces in a manner
that contribute positively to immediate context, while presenting
a new face to the public. They strive to deliver well integrated
projects that can assist in energising a fringe space. Together,
the renewal of both spaces will enhance the overall public realm,
creating memorable experiences for both users of the city and
the building.

Client: Athol Place Trust
This site comprises of Athol Place, a heritage-listed, two-storey building of considerable significance. The client
was intent on preserving the historical architecture and cultural integrity of the building, while ensuring future
development to the site improves public access, both physically and visually. The proposed re-development of
site, features public occupation on the ground level and lettable tenancies on first level. The rear of the site is
redeveloped to provide additional car, motorbike and bicycle parking and improved servicing with commercial
tenancies above.

The prominence of the Main and Vulture corner site calls for an iconic solution that is not just from
an architectural and urban design response but from the proposition of providing a unique, holistic
experience for the destination visitor, the passer byer, the operator and the resident. The project
brief outlined calls for 300 apartments, 100 hotel suites and a variety of commercial/retail tenure.
MODE’s vision is to intelligently couple this requirement with access to a high level of amenity to
deliver an outcome that is locatable, appealing and sellable.

Client: Sudima Suites
The site at 133 Grey Street is located at the intersection of Grey and Melbourne Street, South Brisbane,
adjacent to the Heritage Listed South Brisbane Train Station. The subject site flanks South Bank
Cultural Precinct and forms an axis with Victoria Bridge providing a direct connection to Brisbane’s
CBD. The new hotel proposal addresses the cultural and heritage significance of the adjacent sites.
Proposing 144 units, bar, cafe restaurant and leisure facilities, the hotel caters for 5 star patronage.

This proposal, in joint venture with Layton Group and BHD, marks a significant phase in the
revitalisation of Shah Alam, Selangor’s capital city, situated in the Petaling district of Malaysia. The
designs reflect iconic, state-of-the-art, sustainable concepts while maximising building and floor
space efficiency. The use of green technology and energy efficiency were an important factor in
the criteria to reflect the heritage and aspirations of the client as a leading property development
company in Malaysia.

Client: City of Gold Coast
MODE partnered with renowned Dutch architects Mecanoo and Davis Langdon to devise a
conceptual response to the brief of Artscape (Landscape), Living (performing) Arts and a new
museum. MODE created three separate and unique buildings, tied together by a distinctive and
classic Gold Coast vernacular and landscape, culminating in a Jewel in the Crown that would be
the new Gold Coast Museum. The resulting design is a critical response to the design brief and a
culturally significant project appropriate to a time and place.

MODE was appointed as the principal consultant in managing the design, documentation and
procurement for both the commercial building fitout and warehouse depot facilities. The project is
heavily geared around delivering on schedule and providing a value-for-money solution. MODE also
focuses on the ESD properties and sustainable design solutions, assisting Energex with operation
and lifecycle costing and strategies to mitigate unnecessary expenses.

Client: Future Skills
The Future Skills fitout is a refurbishment of an existing commercial building, built circa 1970. The building
footprint was completely emptied, ready for the reconfigured workplace that MODE had designed
in collaboration with the client, staff and customers of Future Skills. Due to the changing operational
requirements of the workplace, the new space accommodated the requirements for additional staff and
integrated a new front of house area with better customer engagement. MODE provided full architectural,
interior and landscape design services, as well as acting as project manager for the client.

The Voxson project is a 5000 m² commercial building comprising of three levels of office
accommodation, a ground floor showroom, staff carpark located in the basement and visitors parking
situated at ground level. The site is part of the Queensland Government Priority Development Area,
and the tenure and design for the commercial building adopts a considered approach with a five star
NABRES rating in response to the PDA strategic guidelines.

Client: United Petroleum
MODE led the design and consultancy team from the design approval stage through to tender of
the fuel site and associated retail on this one hectare site; which has been approved to incorporate
600 m² of retail, fuel and medium density residential developments. MODE also led the facilitating
and streamlining of authority approval, standardising documentation and enabling the construction
team to begin work as scheduled.

This integrated commercial and industrial estate sits on a 15,000 m² site in Narangba. The design
intent focuses on delivering a scale of development fundamental to the integrated uses, addressing
wayfinding and the unmarking of zones. Providing warehouse accommodation with interlinking
commercial tenancies, the project provides flexibility and the capacity to accommodate light industrial
and distribution activities. Car parking is centrally located on the flanks of the development to
maximise rigid vehicle circulation and the most efficient use of the site for its intended purpose.

Client: Department of Transport and Main Roads
This is the third project MODE has delivered for the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) as part of the
Queensland Government’s CSC upgrade rollout. Mackay is the most diverse facility, offering an array of services. The
CSC facility is to be upgraded and extended to suit its current customer needs. Daily existing customer numbers
reach 380-450, with projections of up to 600 after public holidays. Back of house facilities have also been upgraded
and expanded to support increased staff numbers. The design intent integrates both transport focused symbolism
with local presence through use of regional story telling in the graphics and screening systems.

Client: Queensland Rail  Brisbane Housing Corporation
Morningside TOD is a project that represents MODE’s Innovations Capitalisation™ concept, by bringing together
clients with underutilised land assets or who need to provide a service but do not have access to the same land bank.
As a test case, the proposal looked to activate Morningside Rail Station by integrating the retail and operational
requirements of the station with childcare facilities, affordable housing and carpark facilities. By maximising the
opportunity of air rights over the station, Queensland Rail and Brisbane Housing Corporation can achieve a mutually
beneficial outcome that enables cost neutral maintenance and improved security surveillance, whilst providing
community support facilities.

yesterday — open-air centres, residential and civic mixes becoming
the norm. Compounded with the reinvention of department stores
and a renewed interest in transit-orientated retail, it is clear that the
industry is ready for some new thinking.
MODE work with a variety of clients to produce exceptional
outcomes in retail projects of all scales to maximise return on
prime retail space through collaboration, experience, knowledge

The design committed itself to providing a high quality, flexible, functional alternative that maximised
the operational services and customer experience. The project was to provide local context to a

Configured over two levels, the Boab tree structure reflects the idealist notion of people playing
amongst the tree canopy. Accentuated use of integrated lighting was incorporated to enhance the

Sukra Restaurant in Lasseters Casino makes exceptional use of its available space to produce a
stunning end result for its clients. Working within the constraints of a 150 m² space, the use of
vibrant reds complimented by warm earthy tones provides a welcoming environment for diners.
A private dining area can be sectioned off with the use of innovative retractable bamboo walls to
offer full flexibility.

Client: Zenous Group
The Ipswich City Centre Core is identified as the most important of all key revitalisation areas in the
Ipswich Regional Centre Strategy (IRCS). MODE’s vision for the IRCS is to remedy the disconnect
between the town centre, its community and the existing urban planning strategies in place to better
address the needs and distribution of the populace. This significant opportunity for the revitalisation
program will reinforce the importance of the city centre as the retail, commercial, entertainment,
cultural and civic heart of the city.

In a view to refresh the Bank of Queensland’s (BOQ) branding and banking model in 2008, MODE
provided a holistic design service for the 130 new business and retail banking branch rollout. The refresh
for the design addressed key items, including operational efficiency, security and client interface as well
as branding and customer awareness and marketability. To ensure brand consistency was maintained
throughout the architecture, interior design and visual graphic components, MODE created a BOQ Design
Manual. The manual acted as a guideline, providing a framework for all future fitouts.

Client: Power  Water
MODE worked closely with Power and Water to achieve specific design requirements for their
customer retail centre in Darwin. The MODE design team created a flexible working environment
that supports the employee working needs and promotes efficiency and job satisfaction. The fitout
incorporates the client’s branding and the design promotes open-plan workstations and offices, and
minimal use of fully-enclosed, private offices for individual employees. The design ensures a safe and
secure work environment.

MODE is the project architect for a number of the locations, in the Department of the Prime
Minister  Cabinet (DPMC) managed Aboriginals Benefits Account (ABA) Stores Infrastructure
Project. This project aims to upgrade and construct new community stores and manager’s housing
in 18 communities across the Northern Territory. MODE have provided architecture, landscape
architecture, interior design and graphic design services.

Workplace
Workplace design has evolved into a highly specialist design
field to support an organisation and its staff to work in their
optimal manner.
MODE's aim is to fully understand clients’ workplace triggers and
processes in order to deliver a space that supports the current, or
desired, workplace ethos. The most important part of the design
briefing process is gaining an innate understanding of the people
within the organisation and typical business activities, enabling
MODE to deliver a design that is adapted to the specific needs
of the business.
A good workplace design is flexible to change and allows for
growth of teams without major structural change. It allows
for churn within the built form, while reflecting the client’s
value system and promotes workplace behaviours that are
representative of the organisation's values.

STW Group are a design based creative studio who provided a project brief for MODE to design
an inspirational and free form workplace environment, enabling its creative team flexibility to think
beyond the boundaries. From the moment the lift doors open, the visitor is drawn into an exciting
and provocative visual and operational journey. The engaging interactive breakout areas are filled
with oversized quirky furniture and lighting, while the work spaces deliver open-plan offices with
flexible workstation systems designed around the 'Activity Based Workplace' consultation process.

Client: Australian Taxation Office  DTZ
The Australian Taxation office and DTZ commissioned MODE to upgrade their 14,000 m² workplace
in Surry Hills, NSW. The upgrade was designed to increase the density of work stations and provide
an office suite for the Commissioner. The design also introduced new training and ICT facilities while
working seamlessly with the existing interiors which follow the existing language of the landmark
building. The selection of materials and design aesthetic was to be a sympathetic yet strong look from
the existing design ethos.

MODE partnered with the Department of Agriculture (DA) to design and deliver a major
refurbishment to the 4,800 m² workplace in Brisbane. The project has been delivered in four
stages to enable the workplace to remain operational. Working closely with 26 stakeholder user
groups, MODE developed a collective design outcome that carefully responds to a brief with high
complexities, both for staffing collocation and operational requirements in a Commonwealth
secure environment.

Client: Open Minds Australia
MODE worked with Open Minds to deliver a workplace and customer-focused rollout that reflected
the organisation’s progressive practices and rebrand across three different sites. Detailed briefs were
worked up with MODE for each project with particular reference to open-plan spaces, pod-type
arrangements and a relaxed and informal reception and waiting area. MODE were responsible for full
design, project management and contract administration for these projects.

Client: Accor Group  Cadwell Construction
MODE was commissioned to carry out the design for the new Accor Advantage Plus call centre in
North Sydney. Providing vibrancy and stimulation in static operational space was a driving factor
for the client. The call centre environment embraces sustainable finishes, ergonomically-tested
furniture, spacious planning and exciting break-out areas that has resulted in achieving a well-
received, modern and collaborative workplace. The simple colour and texture palette of finishes
allowed MODE’s design team to be creative through the selection of vibrantly-coloured furniture,
complementing the new space.

MODE worked with the Australian Red Cross (ARC) to design a space that houses their Homelessness
Team in a manner that was sufficiently flexible to undertake a vast scope of programming for both staff and
clients, provide equal access and importantly, provide a level of aesthetic appeal and interest to encourage
the customer to come through the front door. The fitout is intended as a working canvas that provides a
sound base for the team and the customers; a canvas that is open to further development by its users, to
promote ownership and a sense of self, over time.

The redesign of the entry foyer and the creation of a framed diagonal axis through the workspaces

up and emphasised by the axial concept. Selective use of colour adds impact and excitement to
the diagonal elements. Walls of container plants provide for privacy yet enable light and air flow
to be enhanced. The selection of sustainable materials has also been a key determinant in design
decisions. The fitout was met with a high level of staff satisfaction and client engagement.

National priority has focused on the development of water, energy, transport and IT infrastructure. MODE has long recognised the importance of strong infrastructure systems in delivering sustainable, productive and liveable communities. Throughout Australia, MODE have been involved in the development of rail, port and airport facilities and understand the immense value these projects deliver to cities and regions. MODE’s experience also includes the development and upgrading of defence facilities throughout the country. The scale and complexity of these projects cannot be underestimated, and the difficulties working with secure, operational facilities are widely understood practices at MODE. With space at a premium and passenger flow projections scheduled to grow exponentially, MODE were commissioned to collaborate with Brisbane Airport Corporation to automate the check in facility and improve processing time for both check in and arrivals; allowing increased dwell times in the retail space.     Client: Virgin Australia,Hansen Yuncken Brisbane Airport Corporation The satellite infill was designed to facilitate the increased passenger flow; expanding the current wait space by infilling the satellite garden. With the creation of new floor areas on Levels 1 and 2, the design optimises the available area for development and greater commuter numbers while upgrading facilities to accommodate code D/E. The King Island Airport Terminal upgrade was designed to optimise efficiencies for critical transport services to ensure that the provision of high quality airport services was maximised.     Client: Brisbane AirportCorporation The primary concept of this project focused on creating an arrival identity for Brisbane, improving the arrival experience, as well as upgrading the operational and performance requirements for the Arrivals Hall and transition spaces between Immigration and Customs. The theme focused on creating a welcome mat to Brisbane that left a positive and lasting image on passengers.     modedesigncorp.com Client: Bombardier Laing O'Rourke The design of Queensland Rail’s new $190 million purpose built, state-of-the-art rollingstock facility was undertaken by MODE within the Bombardier led PPP Consortium, QTECTIC. The facility was awarded the National Smart Architecture Award for its use of 4D BIM, resulting in construction efficiencies, reduced costs and early delivery. The design of the facility is based on both operational and construction efficiencies; safe movement of trains, vehicles and staff around the site, quality and supporting the local economy. Key features of the facility include a dedicated under floor wheel lathe, cleaning and decanting facilities, raised rail and in-ground lifting capabilities for improved maintenance operations.     Client: Bombardier Laing O'Rourke MODE is currently undertaking the public private partnership (PPP) bid design of the new High Capacity Metro Trains (HCMT) maintenance facilities in Pakenham East, which includes a train maintenance facility and stabling yard, as part of the Bombardier Consortium. The PPP also includes a secondary Light Service facility in Calder Park to support the heavy maintenance of trains at Pakenham. Up to 65 new high capacity trains and a depot will be delivered as an ‘availability based’ PPP, providing a dedicated train fleet for the Cranbourne- Pakenham line. The facilities will have the flexibility to cater to the future rolling stock maintenance needs of the network. The trains are planned to be able to carry 1100 passengers, with the ability to be lengthened to carry more than 1600 passengers if needed.     Integrated Development The artof master planning cities, urban infill, open space networks and commercial precincts is founded on the dynamics of understanding communities and people as individuals. MODE's designers unify the urban form, environment, circulation of multi-model transport and infrastructure with a sense of the scale reflective of the individual to create site-responsive designs that are tailored to the commercial outcomes of clients and the policies of regulatory authorities. Trends influencing the development of public works have seen a recent framework shift in a direction that encourages integrated development over independent typologies. Mixed use projects integrating both long-term and short-stay residential facilities with commercial, entertainment and retail precincts are emerging on city fringes. These new integrated developments have placed considerable pressure on aging commercial building stock. MODE work collaboratively with their clients to be able to revitalise all existing building stock and urban spaces in a manner that contribute positively to immediate context, while presenting a new face to the public. They strive to deliver well integrated projects that can assist in energising a fringe space. Together, the renewal of both spaces will enhance the overall public realm, creating memorable experiences for both users of the city and the building. The client was intent on preserving the historical architecture and cultural integrity of the building, while ensuring future development to the site improves public access, both physically and visually. The proposed re-development of site, features public occupation on the ground level and lettable tenancies on first level.     Client: Chris Zenonos Theprominence of the Main and Vulture corner site calls for an iconic solution that is not just from an architectural and urban design response but from the proposition of providing a unique, holistic experience for the destination visitor, the passer byer, the operator and the resident. The project brief outlined calls for 300 apartments, 100 hotel suites and a variety of commercial/retail tenure. MODE’s vision is to intelligently couple this requirement with access to a high level of amenity to deliver an outcome that is locatable, appealing and sellable. The subject site flanks South Bank Cultural Precinct and forms an axis with Victoria Bridge providing a direct connection to Brisbane’s CBD. The new hotel proposal addresses the cultural and heritage significance of the adjacent sites. Proposing 144 units, bar, cafe restaurant and leisure facilities, the hotel caters for 5 star patronage.     Client: PKNS Encorp This proposal, in joint venture with Layton Group and BHD, marks a significant phase in the revitalisation of Shah Alam, Selangor’s capital city, situated in the Petaling district of Malaysia. The designs reflect iconic, state-of-the-art, sustainable concepts while maximising building and floor space efficiency. The use of green technology and energy efficiency were an important factor in the criteria to reflect the heritage and aspirations of the client as a leading property development company in Malaysia. MODE created three separate and unique buildings, tied together by a distinctive and classic Gold Coast vernacular and landscape, culminating in a Jewel in the Crown that would be the new Gold Coast Museum. Due to the changing operational requirements of the workplace, the new space accommodated the requirements for additional staff and integrated a new front of house area with better customer engagement. The design intent focuses on delivering a scale of development fundamental to the integrated uses, addressing wayfinding and the unmarking of zones. Providing warehouse accommodation with interlinking commercial tenancies, the project provides flexibility and the capacity to accommodate light industrial and distribution activities. Car parking is centrally located on the flanks of the development to maximise rigid vehicle circulation and the most efficient use of the site for its intended purpose. Mackay is the most diverse facility, offering an array of services. The CSC facility is to be upgraded and extended to suit its current customer needs. Daily existing customer numbers reach 380-450, with projections of up to 600 after public holidays. Back of house facilities have also been upgraded and expanded to support increased staff numbers. The design intent integrates both transport focused symbolism with local presence through use of regional story telling in the graphics and screening systems.     Client: Queensland Rail Brisbane Housing Corporation Morningside TOD is a project that represents MODE’s Innovations Capitalisation™ concept, by bringing together clients with underutilised land assets or who need to provide a service but do not have access to the same land bank. As a test case, the proposal looked to activate Morningside Rail Station by integrating the retail and operational requirements of the station with childcare facilities, affordable housing and carpark facilities. By maximising the opportunity of air rights over the station, Queensland Rail and Brisbane Housing Corporation can achieve a mutually beneficial outcome that enables cost neutral maintenance and improved security surveillance, whilst providing community support facilities. Compounded with the reinvention of department stores and a renewed interest in transit-orientated retail, it is clear that the industry is ready for some new thinking. MODE work with a variety of clients to produce exceptional outcomes in retail projects of all scales to maximise return on prime retail space through collaboration, experience, knowledge and authority. Their objective is to work closely with clients to understand their business and customers to provide solutions that work to reinvent the experience of retail environments.     Client: Bank ofQueensland In a view to refresh the Bank of Queensland’s (BOQ) branding and banking model in 2008, MODE provided a holistic design service for the 130 new business and retail banking branch rollout. The refresh for the design addressed key items, including operational efficiency, security and client interface as well as branding and customer awareness and marketability. To ensure brand consistency was maintained throughout the architecture, interior design and visual graphic components, MODE created a BOQ Design Manual. From the moment the lift doors open, the visitor is drawn into an exciting and provocative visual and operational journey. The engaging interactive breakout areas are filled with oversized quirky furniture and lighting, while the work spaces deliver open-plan offices with flexible workstation systems designed around the 'Activity Based Workplace' consultation process.

    modedesigncorp.com Client: Australian TaxationOffice DTZ The Australian Taxation office and DTZ commissioned MODE to upgrade their 14,000 m² workplace in Surry Hills, NSW. The upgrade was designed to increase the density of work stations and provide an office suite for the Commissioner. The design also introduced new training and ICT facilities while working seamlessly with the existing interiors which follow the existing language of the landmark building.     Client: Department ofAgriculture DTZ MODE partnered with the Department of Agriculture (DA) to design and deliver a major refurbishment to the 4,800 m² workplace in Brisbane. The project has been delivered in four stages to enable the workplace to remain operational. Working closely with 26 stakeholder user groups, MODE developed a collective design outcome that carefully responds to a brief with high complexities, both for staffing collocation and operational requirements in a Commonwealth secure environment. Providing vibrancy and stimulation in static operational space was a driving factor for the client. The call centre environment embraces sustainable finishes, ergonomically-tested furniture, spacious planning and exciting break-out areas that has resulted in achieving a well- received, modern and collaborative workplace. The simple colour and texture palette of finishes allowed MODE’s design team to be creative through the selection of vibrantly-coloured furniture, complementing the new space.     Client: Australian RedCross MODE worked with the Australian Red Cross (ARC) to design a space that houses their Homelessness Team in a manner that was sufficiently flexible to undertake a vast scope of programming for both staff and clients, provide equal access and importantly, provide a level of aesthetic appeal and interest to encourage the customer to come through the front door. The fitout is intended as a working canvas that provides a sound base for the team and the customers; a canvas that is open to further development by its users, to promote ownership and a sense of self, over time. Views to the Shrine of Remembrance are opened up and emphasised by the axial concept. Selective use of colour adds impact and excitement to the diagonal elements. Walls of container plants provide for privacy yet enable light and air flow to be enhanced. The selection of sustainable materials has also been a key determinant in design decisions.
