recognize the pain of having anger. Cole is banished to a remote island in Alaska after he attacks a boy

Because of his rejection of the medieval ways of thinking, his insistence of using thought and reason

aware of their surroundings on a physical, mental and emotional level, they have the power to fully
immerse themselves in their experience, without hesitation or limitation. In Saidiya Hartman s memoir
Lose Your Mother, the reader is presented with an orator who lacks complete awareness of their
surroundings, which later translates to a lack of self awareness, while in both Jamaica Kincaid s and
Caryl Phillips respective memoirs the reader is presented with authors who are fully aware of their
surroundings and thus self aware as well. Immediately the reader is made aware that Hartman is
physically aware of her surroundings in Ghana, I chose Ghana because it possessed more dungeons,
prisons and slave pens than any other country in West Africa.. (Hartman 7). Hartman is physically
aware of her purpose in Ghana: she is here because it contains the most physical remnants of the slave
trade than most other countries in West Africa. Hartman know where she will travel while in Ghana,

places: slave forts, markets, roads and castles. Hartman finds these physical remains of slavery in
Elmina, the castle that once held slaves before they entered the middle passage, Salaga, the largest

memoir A Small Place and Phillips in his memoir The Atlantic Sound are similar to Hartman in this
way, as both possess intense awareness of their physical surroundings. Kincaids memoir, although

Accounting is used for several purposes. Investors, creditors, and individuals use accounting to see
whether a business is successful or not. Managers and employees use accounting to make decisions on
certain objectives. There are four main statements used in accounting: The balance sheet, income
statement, the statement of retained earnings, and the statement of cash flow. The equation for

Debits and credits do not mean debits decrease an account or credits increase an account. Debit and

balance which will give the balance of all these in a certain amount of time such as monthly, quarterly,

The final process of accounting is producing financial statements. The first statement is the income
statement. The income statement shows a company s profit or loss after revenue and expenses. The
equation for the income statement is revenue minus expenses equal net income. The next statement
produced is the statement of retained earnings. The statement of retained earnings starts out with the
net income retrieved from the income statement, which is added to the beginning retained earnings
from the previous month then subtracts the money paid out. The last document is the balance sheet. A
