MIXTURES
5th Science
MIXTURES:
soluble and insoluble
• We can distinguish between soluble and
insoluble mixtures.
• To make a solution there is a solute substance
and a solvent substance.
• If a substance dissolves it’s a soluble, so we
make a new solution. For example: water+salt
EXAMPLES OF SOLUBLE AND
INSOLUBLE MIXTURES
SOLUBLE
MILK + COCOA POWDER= COCOA DRINK
INSOLUBLE
WATER + OIL
Solutions
• There are things that help solutes to dissolve.
- MIXING
- QUANTITY OF SOLVENT
- HEAT
- TIME
MIXTURES: homogeneous and
heterogeneous
• Anytime you combine two or more different
things, you make a mixture.
• We can distinguish between homogeneous and
heterogeneous mixtures.
What’s the difference?
• In homogeneous mixtures you can not distinguish
everything, you can not separate them. So, they
are ususally irreversible.
• In heterogeneous mixtures you can distinguish
everything, you can separate them. So, they
could be reversibles.

HETEROGENEOUS MIXTURES
