The Rolling Stones targets an older demographic of 16-50 interested in rock music. Its front cover is black and white unlike MixMag's colors. It only has text on the left third while MixMag has text on both sides. These magazines differ in styles to suit their audience demographics.

Mixmag contents analysis
- 1. Images The images in Mix mag contents page are conventionally identifying dance music and club culture. They are emphasising the complexity of clubbing and how it sends a thrill of excitement and naive memories to the readers minds. The images being the largest feature on the page really emphasise the importance of a visual perspective. Mixmag correlates how images are more relatable than words due to the immature and non intellectual demographic. Furthermore, the images have been chosen so that all typical readers are featured on the contents page. This shows the readers how they are part of something and have a shared interest with people like them. The pictures on the contents page also include the page numbers for that specific story or article to highlight the importance of that particular piece of information. The image on the left hand side comprehends the realistic appeal of partying and living your youthful years to the maximum. Additionally, this image includes the opportunities of meeting new people and having fun and not having any responsibilities; hence the girls welcoming facial expressions and laid back body language. This entirely labels the magazine and club scene as being unforgettable mesmerising moments. Furthermore, this image is linked to a page in the magazine that lists clubs and local events for young people to go to. This is portraying that the demographic aren’t interested in lengthy articles and are amused by the upcoming events around them and their friends. This automatically highlights how young people are always planning ahead in terms of what party is next. Style The style of Mixmag contents page is basic in terms of colour but has many aspects of originality. This is due to the different sized images, enlarged page numbers and columns to structure their contents pages. Firstly, the background being black extenuates the lively lifestyle typical dance music lovers have. On the contents page, the white font bounces off the page due to the lack of a non-plain layout. Categories have been used to break down the varieties of club culture, (features, fashion, tunes, directory). This is to organize the magazine and to give the reader navigation when it comes to finding what their interested in reading about. Furthermore, the contents will have structure in terms of typography and will have a sense of direction. The categories listed imply that the reader may not necessarily fit into all of them. Mixmag has a understanding characteristic and generally wants to please their demographic. Moving on to the second page, the images continue to engage with the reader and relate with the typical club scene. The picture of Tomorrow Land on the top right, stereotype clubbing as being a magical land which contains bright colours, crowds of people and memories that many people share together. These images all highlight how they characterise Mixmag as a enthralling experience.
- 2. Running Head The running head of Mixmag’s contents page is abstract and engages with the reader as it’s captivating and may be looked at in a extra- terrestrial aspect. The running head isn’t noticeably large but is titling the contents page as a whole successfully. The font of the running head continues on to fascinate and give a theme of magical illusion; a lot like the typical clubbing scene. This highlights the images chosen for the contents page and how they all tie in with the fantasy of club culture. The contents also uses the issue title on the page to state the theme or what popular around that time of year, e.g. October could be popular for darker events and perhaps a teaser for the demographic as summer has ended which includes many clubbing experiences (festivals). This excites the reader as its informing them what's upcoming and how it will affect them. To conclude: The magazine overall gives off moods of carelessness and little responsibilities. Furthermore, the entire demographic will see Mixmag’s contents page as amusingly abstract and gives aspects of non stop partying. Overall, the contents page is diversely creative due to colour, size of images and typography, style, fonts, and running head. These all link in with the demographic and potential readers as the entire magazine never disappoints due to individuality.
