Vitruvian Man Essay
Between 1300 1400 The Renaissance was born. During this time period, there was
differnet types of cultures and arts and architecture developed in this time period. The
style of painting, sculpture and decorative arts identified with the Renaissance
emerged in Italy in the late 15th century. It reached Zenith in the late 15th and early
26th centuries, in the work of italian masters. Such as, Leonardo da Vinci,
Michelangelo, Raphael and Donatello.
During the Renaissance, Da Vinci did more than painting, he studied various topics

Jack And Ralph Debate
Above all else, I would like to admit that both Jacks and Ralphs did quite well in their
debate and it is hard for me to decide who is going to be the winner. Even though I
would like to have two groups champion debaters, it is impossible for us to do that
because of odd amount of votes we got.
The debate started from Jack accuse Ralph of ineffectual leadership. Things went on
worse as Ralph accuse Jack of being negligent. Opening statement was hold at first.
Tiger and Alice claimed that Jack has the authority of being a leader which does not

The Nature Of Cyber World
With the overwhelming increase in the number of people of using internet for their
day to day work and run businesses, it has become equally important to understand
the nature of cyber world we are living in.
The internet is currently being used for all sorts of activities such as browsing,
messaging, music, news and on top of it for financial transactions. This is the reason
why many people are getting this opportunity to misuse it for the purposes it not
meant for i.e. for harming others by using internet tools both in financial and personal
terms. There are group of people on internet whose only job is to get involved in such
unlawful activities and make money by using other people s sensitive information.
One such cybercrime which is has gained momentum in the recent years is Phishing.
In Phishing, the hackers tries to obtain both personal as well as financial information
of users by posing as genuine websites/emails. This information is further used to
bring financial and personal losses to victims.
In this assignment, we are focusing on the concept of Phishing, the way it is done, its
impact and how it can be prevented.
Definition and Description of Phishing
With the increase in use of internet for both personal and financial activities, there is
an increase in the crimes related to people trying to steal the sensitive information of
users for their own benefit. One such activity is called Phishing.
Phishing is a process by which a hacker tries to lure people
Advantages Of Humanitarian Aid During Times Of War
Humanitarian Aid during Times of war: The Good and the Bad Humanitarian aid
is care that is given to those that are victims of natural disasters or those that are
located in places where war is occurring or has occurred. This care can include
anything from food and water, to medical supplies and shelter, such as tents. A lot of
people may not be aware of the problems that can arise as a result of humanitarian
aid, since many only hear the positive outcomes of aid. There are both disadvantages
and advantages to humanitarian aid during violent times, and there is a question
about whether or not the negative aspects may actually outweigh the good.
Humanitarian aid during natural disasters is a little different from aid that is given
during times of war. Access to humanitarian aid during times of war can be
difficult due to many complex problems that can arise. The goal of humanitarian
aid is to save lives, alleviate suffering and maintain and protect human dignity
during and in the aftermath of emergencies , but problems arise when it comes to
deciding who to help and where the lines are drawn for impartiality ( Humanitarian
Aid 1). Humanitarian organizations claim to work by the principles of humanity,
neutrality and impartiality , but by doing this they may actually be altering the
outcomes and prolonging the duration of wars, particularly for those in Bosnia and
Rwanda (Wassenhove 4). There are several theories about why aid is thought to
prolong wars, none of which have been studied enough to be proven. Among many
theories on how aid may prolong war, one theory describes how supplying aid
decreases the cost of the war, which can slow down the flow of information between
opponents, and can ultimately keep them from communicating what they are willing
to accept in a settlement, and not knowing the outcomes of war can definitely delay
the end of it (Narang 2). Another theory is that humanitarian aid, although it has good
intentions, it can prolong war by supplying resources to opposing sides, and there
are two ways this can happen. Humanitarian aid can directly supply combatants with
resources such as shelter, medical supplies, and food by not being able to tell the
difference between civilians and

Democratic National headquarters, which was located at the Watergate Hotel. Most
of the Newspapers disregarded the story as just another break in but Two reporters for
the Washington post stuck with the story till the End.
The two reporters named Carl Bernstien and Bob Woodwardrealized that this break
in was some how involved in the up coming election but they did not know how.
Their first move was to follow where the money for the break in came from. The

Woodward and Bernstien would later find there had been political sabotage tracing
back to JFK.
Woodward and Bernstein were then contacted by a reliable source named Deep Throat
. Deep Throat gave them information on who had control of the money in Sloan s

masterminds of the break in and of other CRP actions of political sabotage. Their
names were Bob Hadleman and John Ehrlichman. Deep throat also said the attorney
general John Mitchell was also some how involved. As Woodward and Bernstien
were having there articles published about Watergate the White House was denying
any involvement in the Watergate break in and denying the CRP safe which held

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. And Congressman John Lewis
Essay
There is little debate among historians that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and
Congressman John Lewis are arguably two of the most important men in the Civil
Rights Movement. Both of these men, Dr. Martin Luther King, in context of his
involvement with the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, and John Lewis, in
context of his involvement with the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, left
indelible impacts on the trajectory and success of the civil rights movement writ
large. While it is important to recognize the collective achievement of each of these
men and the organizations in which they served, it is also important to recognize the
reality that both of these men occupied distinct political positions within the
movement which ultimately changed the ways in which they both would foresee the
actions that they thought would be important and essential to the success of the
movement.
Politics, while more often observed in context of institutional power structures like
governmental systems, i.e the federal government of the United States, is an
important and fundamental feature of transgressive social movements as well. In the
Civil Rights Movement, the fundamental differences in political ideology and direct
action are best highlighted between King and Lewis in context of the each of the
initial speeches that both of these men intended to give to attendees of the 1963
March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. Hence, this essay will provide a

Really? Not again. I ve been hijacked. I ve just spent three hours on Pinterest
searching for a new recipe for dinner. I don t know if I should be ashamed or
excited. I did find a pretty amazing recipe for roasted red pepper Alfredo though.
However, I did just lose three hours of my time. I could of finished various tasks in
those three hours. I ll be the first one to admit it: smart technology is making me
dumb. People like me rely on smart technology for too many things: phone books,
directions, new information, etc. Soon people will depend on it for everything. I
believe smart technology will hijack our lives.
Many daily chores are completed by the use of smart technology. For example,
smart technology can be used for: setting an alarm clock, making phone calls,
balancing a bank account, paying bills, checking e mails, doing homework, getting
directions, etc. Many people take advantage of this. They may use their laptop,
iPad, cellphone up to ten times a day to complete these tasks. I ll admit it, I have a
favorite app myself. Pinterest! I ll lose hours on end getting lost in the app. However,
smart technology does have better uses. Henry Ford community college student,
Shandra Dicks, found a useful way to use smart technology. Dicks, loves to spend her
spare time running. She also likes to keep track of her progress from day to day.

Fire Department Pros Analysis
Introduction
After several years of a hiring freeze, the Fire Department(FD) is seeking to expand
its firefighting personnel ranks by recruiting approximately 1000 candidates to be
eventually hired. Currently, the Fire Department is predominantly male Caucasian of
either Irish or Italian descent in a long history of dedicated fire fighters which goes
back generations. Contrastingly, a significant number of minorities have been unable
to meet the expectations of the FD s outdated recruitment practices which lack
standardized procedures hence, few minority (women, African Americans, Hispanics)
firefighters. Now, the city s estimated population is 1 million of which, about 30% are
racial of ethnic minorities (mainly African Americans and... Show more content on

Specifically, neutral policies or practices that unevenly or unfavorably effect any
protected class qualifies as employment discrimination (EEOC, n.d.).
In the past, women outperformed all candidates in exams despite failing the physical
exams. Ultimately, more white candidates dominated the civil service list from
where appointments came for years, the few minority candidates that passed never
made the hiring list and women were have never been hired. Based on the FD s
statistics, there is compelling evidence indicative of both racial and gender
discrimination against racial minorities and women, in recruitment, testing, selection,
hiring and promotion to support the disparate impact theory (Guerin, n.d.).
Therefore, as a representative of the city, it is my recommendation that the FD cease
and desist from sole use of word of mouth recruitment and the continued use of
flawed essay based exams as this would prove a pattern of non compliance with
EEOC along with potential legal recourse (U.S. Department of Justice, 2015, p. 2).
Recruitment campaign improvement recommendations
The essay based questions should be developed by an independent party with
assistance from both city and Fire Commission representatives. Following a literature
review section of an International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) study, it was
concluded that the best recruitment technique for minority recruitment was targeted
recruitment consisting of the following (Fox, Hornick,
Cause And Effect Essay On Head Injury
When athletes experience a head injury a medical professional is required to sign
off before the athlete may renter the game. The Centers for Disease control has
estimated that over 300,000 athletes experience a concussion every year. That is
300,000 students more prone to the negative effects of these head traumas. Athletes a
should be required to wait longer periods of time to give their braina more sustainable
time to heal because some symptoms of a head trauma do not surface right away.
Studies have shown that there is a higher risk of experiencing another concussionand
loosing consciousness after experiencing a previous head trauma. To be more
precise athletes are 9 times more likely to to demonstrate a loss of consciousness
after a pervious injury. After experiencing a trauma to the head everyone is more
likely to experience it again but, girls and women suffer from higher concussion
rates than boys an men due to females having smaller and less muscular head and
necks leaving them more vulnerable to experience a concussion. Protective gear has
been developed to help prevent traumas but there is not one piece of gear that can
guarantee no injury while being used during the game. The most common type of
gear used is a helmet. It helps to reduce shock to the head but it does not eliminate...

Mesoamerica Domestication
Mesoamerica served as one New World cradle for plant domestication. Because of
the abundance of data gathered from the semi arid highlands of Mexico due to the
preservation of macrofossils in dry caves, a hypothesis was formed that stated the
highland region was the center of domestication in Mesoamerica (Pope et al.
2001:1370 1373). Compared to the highlands, not much was known about the role the
lowlands of Mesoamericaplayed in plant domestication. This was because the humid
conditions of the tropical areas of Mesoamerica often led to poor plant preservation.

Larger grains the size of 70 Вµm first appeared 5,000 years B.C. and were common
4,000 years B.C. The size and axis/pore ratio had decreased in size to a size now
typical of domesticated maize. It is important to note that the Zea found in San
Andres were not native to the coastal Tabasco area and was an exotic species that
was introduced to and cultivated by farmers. The appearance of this maize coincides
with forest clearing in this area, probably for the purposes of agriculture, which was
evidenced by charcoal. The settlement here was linked to the beach ridge and the
lagoon which was attractive to maize farmers. Small Zea pollen disappeared after
2,500 years B.C. and around the same time, domesticated sunflowers appeared. The
first sunflower seed found dates back to 2,667 calendar years. B.C., and the first
sunflower fruit dates back to 2,548 calendar year B.C. The earliest date on maize in
Mexico is 4,300 calendar year B.C. which meant that domestication had to have
happened before 4,000 calendar year B.C. This early appearance of maize supports
the supposed origin of agriculture in the New World in a humid, tropical setting and
for early exchanges between Mesoamerica, and Central and South
The Funeral And Mourning Rituals Of Judaism
How are the customary funeral and mourning rituals of Judaism, Protestant
Christianity, Roman Catholicism, and Islam similar and different? Judaism and
Islam have similar funeral practices. Both Islam and Judaism appoint the
responsibilities of the burial of the deceased within their communities. Both
traditions require the dead be buried as promptly as possible. It is for the body to be
buried on the same day of the death. Islam and Judaismforbid embalming and routine
autopsies as desecration of the dead. However, both religions consider organ
donation as permissible. Muslims are strictly forbidden from the process of
cremation, while Jewish rules on cremation can vary depending on the denomination.
Conservative Jews oppose cremation while the process has become an increasingly
more popular and acceptable practice among Reform Jews.
In both religions the body is considered sacred and handled with care. Muslims are
obligated to perform a procedure known as ghusl, or washing, on the body of the
deceased. This procedure should be done by community members of the same
gender. A deceased man should be washed by a male relative and a deceased
woman by a female relative. During the procedure all clothes are removed from
the body leaving the private areas covered. The deceased is then washed three
times with a combination of both water and scented oils. The body is then wrapped
in a plain white cloth called a kafan. The kafan is composed of three pieces of
material for men and a
The Death Penalty Throughout History
This paper explores how society has influenced the development of the death penalty
throughout history. It begins with a brief explanation of the origins of capital
punishment, referencing the first known documentation of actions punishable by
death. The paper goes on to explore different methods of execution and how they
have progressed and changed over the years. Documented cases at different points of
history are referenced to show the relationship of time periods and beliefs to the
implementation of capital punishment. Finally, the development of different laws and
changes to existing laws pertaining to the death penalty are addressed. The History of
the Death Penalty
The death penalty has changed drastically throughout history. Some of the first
known written laws regarding the death penalty date back to the eighteenth century
BCE ( Part I , 2016). It is likely that some form of the death penalty existed long
before written history, with a basis in customs, not legalities. The death penalty has
continued to evolve throughout history, shaping the modern practices used in the
United States and other parts of the world today. The administration of the death
penalty has been shaped by the moral principles of those in authority and the mindset
of the general public at each stage of history. This is shown through the evolution of
different methods of execution, documented cases during critical points in history,
and the laws pertaining to the death penalty at different
Bebop History
Bebop Overview
Bebop is the first stylistic shift the represented the movement away from the current
jazz, the Swing. In this style of music, the chord usage becomes lot more complex
using extensions such as 9th, 11th, and 13ths but also the flatted 5ths. Improvisation
has also been greatly developed. The improvers now used the underlying chords as
their basis of improvisation with combination to virtuosic quick notes in a successful
complex rhythm. Jam session is another important aspect in Bebop as this is where
the young and old musicians informally gather together to play their own ideas of Jazz
, not the standard way of the Swings.

Case Study Of Pneumonia And Chronic Pulmonary Disease
Case Study for Pneumonia Our nose and airway filters germs out of the air that we
breathe in order to prevent our lungs from becoming infected. However, when
germs does enters our lungs, it may cause infections such as Pneumonia which
inflames the air sacs of the lungs, which can range from mild case to severe cases.
The air sac may be filled with fluid or pus causing cough that associates with phlegm,
fever, chills and difficulty breathing. The causes of pneumonia are extrinsic and
intrinsic. The extrinsic factors include exposure to pulmonary irritants or pulmonary
injury such as those who works in construction or agriculture. Inhaling dusk,
chemicals and air pollution or toxic fumes can damage your lungs and make them
more vulnerable for infection. Intrinsic factors are related to the host such as stroke,
endotracheal intubation, diabetes, chronic pulmonary disease, human
immunodeficiency or emphysema. Smoking and alcohol abuse could also be a
factor because it damages the cilia in the lungs that help remove bacteria and germs.
Alcohol abuse can put you at risk of aspiration pneumonia especially when you
vomit and the small particles enter your lungs. In addition, alcohol interferes with
the white blood cell production which us responsible in fighting infection in our
body. Types of Pneumonia and Risk Factors There are several types pneumonia and
each are named on how an individual is infected or for the germs that causes it.
However, in this case study, the focus

J.R.R Tolkien and WWI Influence in The Lord of the Rings War has affected the
lives of people since the beginning of civilization. Even General Sherman, famous for
his March to the Sea in America s Civil War, was known for his saying, War is Hell.
That idea would only prove to be all too true for the soldiers of World War I
. J.R.R
Tolkien was among the young men that struggled for survival in the damp and
deplorable trenches as enemy fire hailed from the sky and bombs decimated the
terrain around them. Many soldiers returned home, physically and mentally
traumatized. J.R.R. Tolkien was no different, and returned home from the war
after losing two of his closest friends, suffering from trench fever, and struggling to
acclimate back into normal civilian life (Wood 7). The war left an imprint on him,
just as it did many other WWI writers, such as Ernest Hemingway and Robert
Graves (Ott 1). Tolkien used his writings as a way to escape his trauma, but the
scars followed him even into his mythopedia of Middle earth as he wrote The Lord
of the Rings. Sam, Frodo, and other characters, like Aragorn, suffered through
similar physical tribulations such as horrid sights of rotting corpses, as well as
emotional struggles, such as feelings of despair, similar to the soldiers of World War
I (Ott 5). The various emotional and physical vicissitudes that Sam and Frodo
encountered were similar to those suffered by

Q 1. Critique the power of organizations from Weberian and Goffmanesque
perspectives in the Stanford Prison This document briefly reviews and critiques the
ideas of Weber and Goffman in applying them to the Standard Prison Experiment.
Weber identified the significance of bureaucracy within organizations. Within the
bureaucratic organization there is a stratification of hierarchy where the legal
legitimate authority is invested in individuals who exercise command on the basis of
rules and not on the basis of personal authority (Morrison, 2006). Legitimate authority
within a bureaucratic organization aims to remove the subjectivity and
unpredictability of human action thus decisions are made and behaviours

The admission process into an institution is routinely followed by guidelines and
procedures (Morrison, 2006) the guards give orders and the prisoners follow them,
however the guards mocked the prisoners through this process thus, removes
impersonal authority. Clearly Weber s theory of a rational system incorporating
impersonal authority is not sufficient to explain the events of Stanford Prison.
Goffman, Power and AuthorityA correlation can be made between Goffman s theory
on mortification of the self when entering some institutions, and the prisoners
entering Stanford Prison. Goffman identifies; names and titles are lost, institutional
uniforms replace personal clothing, personal space is lost or disregarded, personal
information discussed inappropriately and constant humiliation (1959 in Smith). The
men entering Stanford Prison were fingerprinted, photographed, assigned a number,
stripped naked and de loused, personal items removed and issued with prison
clothing, while the men s head were not shaved they had to wear a socking to
illustrate shaved head (Zimbardo, 2009). This was the result of a deliberate policy
from the Superintendent to remove any trace of individual identity (Zimbardo, 2009).
Thus the power of the organization to remove the prisoner s
Frodo Baggins Lord Of The Rings Hero s Life Cycle
The life of a hero fits a certain pattern. Different heroes from different mythologies
all seem to follow the same events in their lives. In the film, Lord of the Rings: The
Fellowship of the Ring, the life of Frodo Baggins follows this pattern. In the film,

The Civil Rights Movement Of America
America has experienced many periods in history that shape the social system we
have today. Many of our adopted attitudes and beliefs have outlined our present
and nearing future into a more liberal society. Following World War II, America
was placed on a pedestal admired by the world around it for success during the post
war period. America had more internal damage that was not reflective of the values
the country was set on. Entering the post War period, a group of college students
advocated for domestic change writing a manifesto popularly known as the Port
Huron Statement on June 15 of 1962. Students desired change and became active in
the Civil RightsMovement in hopes to change the attitudes of the citizens in America.
The Port Huron Statement reflected ideas of these newly conscious middle American
youth, increased Civil right activism, and created the New Left in regards to form a
more democratic society. The conscious youth yearned for a more favorable
democracy. Students were actively striving to create dialogue to urge everyone to
be more aware of the climate that exists. Born again Middle American, were the
words of Tom Hayden, former activist of the New Left, and author of the Port Huron
Statement. Shifting from ideals of a former left society into a new more liberal and
optimistic system changed the perceptions the new left had. In hopes to be the last
generation in the experiment of living, they wanted everyone to be made a part of the
majority
Contraction and Spread of Streptococcus pyogenes
Contraction and Spread of Streptococcus pyogenes
Abstract:
Streptococcus pyogenes is a very common bacteria found in humans. It is very
transmissible and can be caught through the air via coughing or sneezing. This form
of Strep. illness is referred to as Streptococcal pharyngitis, also known as Strep.
throat, which can complicate into Scarlet Fever. It is also possible to be infected
through abrasions of the skin, which can result in cellulitis, impetigo, or even
necrotizing fasciitis. Aside from human to human contact, these bacteria can also be
found in unpasteurized milk. There is no vaccine for Streptococcal infections, though
antibiotics such as penicillin still work very well against them.
Introduction:
S. pyogenes is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is also very transmissible through shaking hands, and handling something that a
person with infected with pyogenes has touched. These are the most common ways to
contract Strep. throat. (2,3)
Also, contraction is very possible through the skin via abrasions both small and
large. This type of infection would be contracted from exposure to other people
harboring the bacteria, bacteria in the air, or bacteria on the injured person. Being
infected this way can rarely result in necrotizing fasciitis. It is also very possible,
albeit very rare, that Streptococcus pyogenes can be transmitted through food, most
notably milk and its products. This form of infection is usually caused by improper
or lack of pasteurization of the milk. The bacteria that are responsible hardly ever
come from an outside source, and are usually present within the cow when infected
milk is produced. However, these two other methods of transmission are far less
likely than the usual human to human respiratory infections. (6,2,1)
After the bacteria are first taken into the body, there is an incubation period of
between one and five days. During incubation the bacteria are very capable of
infected others without the host having any knowledge of an infection. This is
important in the spread of Strep. infections, which will often occur through contact
between children while at school. It is no mistake that the
Different Organizational Structures And Culture Case Study
1.1 Compare and contrast different organizational structures and culture
Organizational structure:
Every organization was established to meet needs or goals, for example, to provide
goods or services. Organizational structures may form in many ways; these were
influenced by factors such as the purpose, size of the company or the complexity of
the tasks it performs, and the external environment and culture. Moreover, the
products, services or the location of the organization will also determine which
structure was the best. The structure chosen will govern the way in which the
organization operates and could occur either positive or negative effects. Below are
some types of organizational structure that usually see.
Functional Structure
The functional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At each stage in the chain, the upper level had a number of subordinate, within their
span of control. A tall hierarchical organization has many levels and a flat
hierarchical organization will only have a few. The chain of command is a typical
pyramid shape.
Matrix organizational structure
The matrix structure organizational was a hybrid of divisional and functional
structure. Typically used in large multinational companies, the matrix structure allows
for the benefits of functional and divisional structures to exist in an organization.
Geographic organizational structure
Geographic organizational structure allows for each business unit or office to
operate as its own entity based on where it s located. Many organizations may
experience more or less business opportunity in different places. This can increase
or decrease financial budgets, revenues, the number of employees at the location
and their salaries. An area s cost of living may also play a factor in the overall
operations at each location.

Charlie Gordon s Ethics In Medicine
Ethics is ,in a nutshell, the knowledge of what the correct and incorrect decisions
to make are. These decisions are made disregarding law, religion, and personal
beliefs. When Charlie Gordon, a man with an IQ of 68 has a procedure done unto
him by a pair of doctors, Dr. Nemur and Dr. Strauss, he had no idea what the risks of
the procedure were. Was the decision the doctors made to let him undergo the
procedure without him knowing what the procedure entailed ethical? Charlie Gordon
s doctors did not act ethically when they performed the surgery to make him smarter.
The doctors did not tell Charlie what will happen when he goes through the operation.
As a result, Charlie wasn t expecting anything bad to happen. In the story, the only
thing told to Charlie about the operation was the fact that the doctors chose to
perform it on him. According to Siegler s Ethics in Medicine document, doctors must

those twin traps of overtreatment and therapeutic nihilism. (Lasagna). The

Charlie s two doctors did to help Charlie. They made him smart and basically said

his knowledge. The doctors didn t do anything to help him. The only person that

The Miller Analogies Test (Mat) Is Utilized For Graduate
The Miller Analogies Test (MAT) is utilized for graduate school admissions by
university programs throughout the United States and it is presently regulated by
Pearson. Dr. W. S. Miller of the University of Minnesota created The MAT in 1926.
Throughout the 1920s and 1930s the test was refined and finally administered to all
incoming graduate students at the University of Minnesota in 1940. In 1947, The
Psychological Corporation took over publication of the test to manage how it was
developed and how it is used on a considerable level (Meagher, Ybarra, etc., 2017).

Percentile ranks acquired prior to January 2017 were based on the performance of the
normative group, which consisted of participants taking the MAT for the first time
from January 1st, 2008 through December 31st, 2011(Meagher, Ybarra, etc., 2017).
It does not cost anything to administer the test because someone cannot choose to
administer the test individually, the MAT is only administered at certain Controlled
Testing Centers (CTC). Controlled Testing Centers are usually colleges and
universities that are testing students that are trying to get into graduate school. The fee
to take the exam varies from CTC to CTC but it averages to around $75. Other fees
include alternative testing site which is $149, the replacement score report fee is
$25 per report, additional transcript fee $25 per transcript, and the score verification
fee is $35 (Fees and Optional Services, 2017).
The MAT has pronounced availability to take the test. The MAT does not have any
fixed national test dates. Every CTC decides when and how often it administers the
test. Participants plan directly with the CTC on when it is most convenient for them
to take the test. The CTCs are set up so that the colleges and universities can test their
own students. All tests administers are provided with a manual of directions to
guarantee adherence to the standardized administration procedures

The song is kind of vengeful, chronicling how good it feels to let go. Hill is crooning

Occurrence of microRNA expressions using various nutrient deficiencies presented to
Arabidopsis thaliana
Introduction
Arabidopsis thaliana is the model organism chosen for investigation of miRNA
expression because its entire genome has been sequenced (Weems 362 369). This
organism also has a short life cycle and grows relatively quick with restricted space
and this also makes it useful for lab research (Weems 362 369). The nutrient
concentrations that were observed in this study included phosphorus and sulfur.
These nutrients are specifically used because they are considered macronutrients that
are required for plant growth (Axtell). Phosphorus is a component of nucleic acids,
phospholipids, ATP and coenzyme. Sulfur is also a component... Show more content

The control in this experiment was the full media plate. The independent variable
manipulated in this study was the media type that the seeds were grown on. The
dependent variable measured was the varying levels of miRNA expression. I did a
full media plate. The plates were then allowed to grow for two weeks. The full
media plate was used in comparison to the low phosphorus and low sulfur plates.
After growth the plants were collected with sterilized tweezers and grinded using a
lysis mix and a pestle. Next, the kit used for isolating the small RNAs was a Sigma
mirPremier microRNA isolation kit following the manufacturer s protocol. The
microRNAs were then run in the thermocycler performing reverse transcription
reactions to convert the RNAs into single stranded complementary DNAs. Reverse
Transcriptase Master Mix was used for the reverse transcription reactions. Lastly,
quantitative real time polymerase chain reaction (qt PCR) was used to analyze the
microRNA levels. Four microRNAs were examined for each media type. Every
media type was analyzed using this procedure and U6 was used as the reference gene
for analysis. A U6 Master mix and miRNA master mix were used for analysis of
each media type. The four primers used for analysis were miR156, miR395, miR398
and miR399. The efficiency values, E, were then obtained from the previous study

Venom
You open your eyes. You re not really sure what just happened. The last thing you

started engulfing your leg with the rest of your body quickly following suit. Looking
down, you see that you re still covered in the strange slime.
That s when you feel another presence in your mind.
It starts communicating with you, explaining that it s an alien organism that was
somehow stranded on earth. lt is a symbiote, and requires a host to bond with to

What you choose to do with these abilities is completely up to you.
Every symbiote is different from each other, and they have different personalities. just

You re not actually Venom s first host. It may already had a very complicated
relationship with the first person it attempted to bond with, and they eventually
rejected and abandoned it. It had some other hosts after that, but nothing that really
stuck for one reason or another. It just wants someone to be with and to actually
want it. A true symbiotic relationship. That being said. it will never forget its first,
and if it ever sees its first host, it will freak out, and you ll freak out along with it.
2. Carnage
The Carnage symbiote is the most unstable of all the symbiotes. It actually seems to
enjoy when you engage in any sort of physical violence. That being said, it forms an
incredibly strong relationship with its host, binding on an almost molecular level,
meaning you can never truly be separated. It will be more than willing to kill to
protect you, and bathe in the blood of your enemies. Because of your strong bond
though, it amplifies your emotions much less than most other symbiotes, but it will

Budget Proposal Cuts
In President Trumps 2018 Budget Proposal cuts, the one that concerns me the most
is the Department Of Housing And Urban Development. It concerns me the most
because it would be devastating to the large number of low income families across
the United States of America that rely solely on subsidize housing programs issued
by the government. Various agency programs help pay a percentage of families or
individuals rent. Without funding these cuts will definitely have a negative impact
on the poor, seniors, individuals with disabilities, low income families and the
working class. Once this change begins to take an effect it will not be good for
families or individuals that receive income benefits from SSI, welfare or wages from
low paying jobs.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The populations that the organization serves are on a fixed income that may suffer
from depression, PTSD or victims of domestic violence and are traumatized. This
cut will eliminate and put a strain on the social services that the organization
provides to their clients. One of the services that the organization offers is designed
as a temporary emergency shelter for women and their children who had to flee
from a bad situation. Without shelter programs it would cause women to become a
part of the statistics of homeless or lead them back in the hands of their abuser. Also,
public housing and rental assistance programs will be hit the hardest because these
types of programs help decrease the number of homeless people.
I do not agree with the 2018 budget proposal because all people need somewhere to
live and housing is one of the key elements to living a healthy lifestyle. Families that
are without housing will lead them to slip below the poverty line which increases
their chances of becoming victims of crime and homelessness. His budget cut will
hurt the ones who are really in need of housing.
I have worked in property management for affordable housing and I have witness
several instances where individuals have abused the system by living in affordable
housing who should of not been living in subsidize housing. Those individuals who
abuse the
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Dual Citizenship
Dual citizenship refers to an individual who is recognised as a national in two
countries concurrently (U.S. Department of State). It exists when one applies for
citizenship in a country other than the one they were born in. There has been much
controversy shrouding the topic because some feel that restricting dual citizenship
violates human rights, while others see it as something that would potentially dilute
national identity. However, Singapore has taken a firm stand, and opposed such laws.
This essay will explore both the advantages and disadvantages of dual citizenship, but
contend that dual citizenship poses more as a threat than a benefit to Singapore s
society. Due to the influx of permanent residences, the demand for the consent...

Therefore, it is to be ensured that Singaporeans are loyal to their home country.
Having Singapore citizens with dual citizenship means that those people have
divided allegiance to two countries. This leads to another question. Do the people
with dual citizenship see themselves as Singaporeans or Americans (for example)?
What happens if Singapore faces a war? Who is to say that they will remain
steadfast and defend Singapore? They might just flee to their second home . Then
does this not serve as a disadvantage to citizens who were born and raised in
Singapore? Albeit unlikely to happen, the safety that we experience in Singapore
must not be taken for granted. Singapore needs unwavering citizens who will not
abandon it when times get tough. It gives other countries the excuse to bully and
look down upon Singapore. Another issue that arises which is also related to
Singapore s defense is the requirement for males with dual citizenship to serve
National Service (NS). Is it still mandatory for them to serve NS even if they are
living abroad? Thus, there are many complexities that need to be ironed out, should
dual citizenship be allowed in
Kyoto Protocol And Global Warming
In December 1997, Kyoto protocol was signed to address global warming
specifically. Global warming is the gradual increase in the average temperature of
the Earth s atmosphere and its oceans due to green house gases emissions. (NRDC,
2005) In the past 100 years, the rate of global warming is unprecedented. In fact,
global warminghas become one of the most challenging environmental problems in
the 21st century. In order to effectively address this issue, international cooperation is
necessary. Through international cooperation, undeveloped countries are able to
overcome financial obstacles in meeting their targets. In addition, it could also
promote worldwide technology sharing, data foundations and public awareness of
climate change.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For starters, modern economy relies heavily on fossil fuels, which is a main
resource that contributes to global warming. Adopting renewable energy might
sharply reduce GHG emissions. However, according to international energy
agency, switching from fossil fuels to low carbon sources of energy will cost $44
trillion between now and 2050 (IEA, 2009). In case 44 trillion is too abstract, 1
trillion dollar can fill up an entire soccer field and stack more than 10 feet high.
This cost could be intimidating for any country. Moreover, the cost also depends on
how long it takes for us to start reducing emissions. The IPCC report showed that
continuing to hold off on reducing emissions could increase costs by 40 percent
(IPCC, 2008) For developing countries, this cost would be a financial burden and a
limiting reagent on GDP growth. Socially, civilian s life quality will be affected by
the GDP reduction. As a result, it becomes more challenging for countries to take
initiative in addressing this problem. The question eventually came down to whom
should bear the astronomical cost? Are we willing to invest in something that might
cost more than its benefits?
Evaluation on its Successfulness
The achievements of Kyoto Protocol have been controversial. Nevertheless, the
agreement has had a mix of success. In order to evaluate its successfulness, we need
data of the emission level of Annex I parties from 1990 to 2012 explicitly. As a
result, the United States did not ratify the

Active Denial System Paper
Active Denial System The Active Denial System (ADS) is an electromagnetic,
directed energy, non lethal weapon designed by the US military and built by
Raytheon (Cumming, 2010). The ADS works by producing 95GHz electromagnetic
radiation that is focused in a beam at a target (Wikipedia, 2014). These 3.2mm
electromagnetic waves work on the same principal as a microwave oven. The waves
excite water and fat molecules instantly heating them through dielectric heating
(Wikipedia, 2014). Due to the extremely high frequency of these waves, the energy
from them is absorbed in within the first 0.4mm of skin, meaning they do not affect
vital organs, blood vessels or nerve endings (Wikipedia, 2014). Due to these
attributes, and the results of numerous studies, in which the worst injury inflicted by
the ADS were pea sized blisters, with a 1 in 1000 chance of this... Show more content

This becomes a major problem when there is a large amount of water in the
environment. In a situation with low humidity, the ADS has an effective operating
range in excess of 500m (Danyalov, 2014). The ADS though is adversely affected
by weather conditions, such as fog, rain, snow, sleet, and dust storms. The rain, fog,
snow and sleet all reduce the range and effectiveness of the beam by absorbing the
radiation it produces. The dust storm reduces the range of the ADS, not by absorbing
the radiation, but by deflecting and dispersing it. Both of these situations mean that
the full power of the ray is no longer reaching its intended target, which may moderate
the ADS s sensation to warm and comfortable (Cumming, 2010). Along with aspects
of the environment blocking the device, it can be countered by very reflective
material such as aluminium foil (Cumming, 2010). Along with aluminium foil, a
defence of sprinklers that produce a fine mist, similar to fire defence systems found
on rural homes, could be used to counter the

War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength, . The following quote
originates from the infamous novel, 1984 by George Orwell. The significance of
this popular quote was to display an example of the action of doublethink.
Doublethink is the act of having two contradictory thoughts at the same time and
believing both are true. Doublethink plays an influential role in the novel, 1984.
The novel takes place in a super state by the name of Oceania which covers the

negative terms such as: honor, justice, morality, science, and religion, and lastly by
torturing non believers to love the government. This is in order to keep citizens such
as the main protagonist, Winston Smith from stepping out of line. Oceania s
government mainly revolves around the use of doublethink in order to weaken their

Total Hip Arthroplasty ( Tha )
Introduction:
Total hip arthroplasty (THA), commonly known as hip replacement, is a
reconstructive orthopedic procedure that involves the surgical excision of the head
and proximal neck of the femur and removal of the acetabular cartilage and
subchondral bone(A). The damaged joint is replaced with an implant that mimics the
motion of the natural joint and is made from combinations of metal, plastic and/or
ceramic components(D).
Joint replacement is one of five priority areas targeted for shorter wait times in
Canada. Ontario s current wait time is 207 day.(F) The number of THAs in Canada
increased 11% between 2006 2007 and 2010 2011. In 2013 2014, there were 49,503
hospitalizations for hip replacements(B). THA has been used to manage conditions
in which the hip joint has responded poorly to less invasive treatments(D). The
most common of which is severe osteoarthritis of the hip joint, which affects more
than 10% of Canadians aged 15 or older(G), and accounts for 70% of cases. The
procedure has proved to be remarkably successful in eliminating pain and restoring
function in hips severely involved with diseases, improving mobility, daily
functioning and quality of life(A,D,G). THA provides pain relief and improves
physical function and quality of life in patients with end stage hip osteoarthritis. The
incidence of THA is expected to increase due to the growing elderly population.
Nevertheless, THA is becoming more common in younger populations because of the

Rhetorical Analysis Of Zeitoun
In his documentative account, Zeitoun, altruistic author Dave Eggers illustrates the
experiences of one muslim man, Abdulrahman Zeitoun, and his struggle to respond
to and cope with the trials facing society and nature following Hurricane Katrina. By
describing the destructive flooding of his home and his neighborhood, Eggers
establishes a desperate tone, as a race against time ensues to save what is left. As the
physical landscape drastically changes, so do the very morals and establishments that
hold society together. Eggers utilizes several rhetorical strategies to highlight the
cruel and destructive stigmatization of Muslim Americans in a post 9 11 society, and
that in times of calm or chaos, the common man is the same despite the labels... Show

As previously established using ethos, Eggers portrays Zeitoun as a reliable
protagonist, a man who shares many of the same morals and ethics with other
human beings alike despite the small label of being of arab descent and of the
muslim fate. Similarly, Eggers relies upon the appeal of pathos to render the reader
sympathetic for Zeitoun, in order to achieve the same effect. When the flood from
the damaged levies reaches Zeitoun s neighborhood, Eggers demonizes the
floodwater, describing it as almost animalistic using verbs such as swallowed and
crawled when referencing the water flooding the property. This use of
personification reveals Eggers motive to bring to light the helplessness felt by
Zeitoun to save what he has left from the damaging waters. In this Man versus Nature
situation, the reader feels the impact of the flood tearing away at what Zeitoun has
built for himself. The stigma that Eggers wishes to make redundant, and the same
that would label Zeitoun a terrorist need not apply here. The response Eggers wishes
to trigger from the audience is that of sympathy and

This consistent routine has embedded itself within the individual with no possible
chance of exodus.
The feud and church goers are similar even in their dress attire, yet another entity
these two have share in. Col. Grangerford is described as a gentleman all over; and
so was his family (Twain, 96). The
Colonel was kind, well mannered, quiet and far from frivolish. The
Colonel dressed well, was clean shaven and his face had not a sign of red in it
anywheres (Twain, 96). These qualities are similar to those that one would find at a
religious service. The person would most probably attend in their best outfit, clean

Grangerford as well, acting like a gentleman at all times during while attending the

Persuasive Essay On Youth Sports
America s baseball diamonds, soccer fields, hockey rinks, and basketball courts have
never been so busy with children. The number of kids involved in an organized sport
is not what is so groundbreaking. It s the way in which children are playing or how
their parents are arranging for them to play that may be cause for concern (Ferguson).
Much controversy surrounds youth sports with the biggest disagreements coming
over parental involvement and the intensity of play. Although there are many benefits
for team participation, there is a growing fear that the negatives are starting to
outweigh the positives.
Sports can be viewed as a learning environment that helps individuals learn life
lessons, foster strong work habits and develop core values all the while learning a
sport skill. Youth sports that truly benefit young athletes should be structured to
emphasize participation more than just competition. Children enjoy a sport more
when they are able to have fun (Humpries). Despite many excesses some sport
programs still manage to promote important virtues like self confidence, teamwork,
personal responsibility, coping skills, and persistence. Through sports kids can learn
to stay organized and learn how to prioritize (Ferguson). Sports enables development
of physical skills and increasing proficiency makes kids feel good about themselves.
It teaches kids that failure is something to overcome and and not to fear (Meyerhoff 8
9). Youth sports has many aspects that are truly benefiting for children, but these
benefits are slowly being clouded by the negatives that are prominent in today s youth
sports.
Youth sports in general is being reshaped because of how competitive americans
are becoming. Every aspect of kids sports has become hypercompetitive hyper
organized, and all consuming. The craziness in the culture of kids sports has led to
the realization the world has changed. An estimated 40 million young adults are

Anna Carstens Research Paper
If I had to make an Instagram bio for Anna Carstens, I would put the flowing
things: Mother of 2 dogs, in love with Orlando Bloom, and #Hailstate. Those are
the simple ways I can sum her up if someone asked me, Who is Anna Carstens? In
all reality though, Anna is just as complex as any human. All though her stature
makes her out to be only 19 and 5 foot and 4 inches, it seems as if she has lived
most lives. I did a profile on Anna, not because she is my bestfriend, but because I
believe this white, Lookout Mountain, Georgia, dog loving girl is quite interesting.
Nancy Carstens and her daughter, Anna Carstens, are spitting images of eachother.
The same head thrown back, loud and boisterous laugh that comes from Anna s body,
comes from her mother also. The look Anna gives when an unparticularly
unattractive guy messages her is the same face Nancy makes when Anna hasn t (and
won t) makeup her bed. Well Donald Trump... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

My parents let me choose. I was going to visit Baylor and GPS, but I was really big
in church I went to LMPC when I was younger and all my friends went to CCS, so
I went there too, Anna says when I asked her about how long she had been at CCS.
She loved high school and all it had to offer. I loved the senior retreat, it was
around the time me and Alex were going to break up. A lot of sh Crap was
happening and we had no service so I was able just take a break from it . My
dream is to travel the world, says Anna when asked her about her hopes and
dreams. She s a learner at heart, but also a busybody. She likes to move, learn, and
understand different culture. While seeming like a slightly childish dream, ANna has
been all over, from Georgia, to Mississippi, all the way to London, England. She does
not just like traveling in the literal sense, but also through books. Anna s aspiration to
travel fuels her dislike of being back in beautiful, but familiar Lookout Mountain,
Similarities And Differences In Cinder And Ella
Although, Cinder and Ella have many similarities such as they both believe
kindness is the answer, they also have many differences, such as where they live or
who their friends are. After watching the movie and analysing the characters I
found that there are more differences than similarities. The main similarities
between Cinder and Ella, are that they both believe kindness is the answer. Also
they both work/slave for their ugly step mothers . In addition they both have very
cruel step siblings and both of their biological parents died . In the end of both book
and movie Cinder and Ella both find out they are the rightful queens to their
kingdoms. Between similarities and differences I feel Cinder and Ella have more
differences.
Theme Of Siegfried Sassoon
The name of Siegfried Sassoon is written down in the Poets Corner in Westminster
Abbey among the greatest authors of the wartime to pay homage to his contribution
to the Universal Literature. Despite of the fact that he is sharing the eternity with
other outstanding authors of the period, his sanity was indeed questioned. When
WWI started he was willing to participate in it, nonetheless, as he became more
aware of the reality of the battlefield, his poetryevolved towards an increasingly
realistic and disenchanted one. As a result of this, he created poems full of levity that
were utterly satirical. His verses reflected the bitterness of his emotions and his rage.
Moreover, the statement he wrote concerning the war triggered the government s...

As Elaene Showalter defends in her book The Female Malady, during World War I
there existed a mass protest against politicians, generals and psychiatrists and when
dismissing shell shock patients as cowards doctors were, in fact, suggesting
effeminacy and homosexuality. However, this was not the case of Siegfried Sassoon
as he was nicknamed as Mad Jack due to his reckless courage in the battlefield.
Once he published A Soldier s Declaration , his friend, Robert Graves, interpreted
this act as a self destructive and futile gesture since Graves foresaw the dangerous
consequences of this declaration. He helped him by testifying on his behalf, not
only to save his life, since if considered mentally ill, he would not be court
martialed, but also because in doing so he would not allow his pacifistic poetry

What Is The Theme Of Father And Son By Bernard
Maclaverty
Father and Son is a short story written by the Irish Bernard MacLaverty in 1978.
The short story takes place in Northern Ireland where we meet a father and his son
and get a glimpse into their life.
The narrator alternates between father and son and is mostly conversations and
thoughts.
The story is basically based on the relationship between the son and the father and
you do not get much told from the past. However there is told, that the son has
been in London, which is clear because the father says he has not heard from his
son for two years, and talks about reading about London in the papers and seeing
scenes from London on the news. We are also told that the father is a widow which
is clear when the father asks the questions Is it my ... Show more content on

The atmosphere is always pressured between the father and son and none of them
sleeps at night. They used to be close to talk, laugh and do a lot of things together
among them, go fishing. Now the son is very stuffy and shares nothing with his
father, he doesn t tell him where he goes, not even when the father asks. The son s
anger and bad relationship with the father is obvious by his way of act, thinking
and talking to his father. He shouts and calls him a nosey old bastard and an old
woman that cries (page 116, line 10) (page 115, line 3 4). The father is calmer he
loves his son very much but he is worried and frustrated about his son. He miss the
time when they could do anything together, he want his son to talk to him the way
he hear him talk to the people in the door, want to laugh with him and know what
he is thinking. One day after an ordinary quarrel the father would go up to
apologize, when he opens the door he sees his son pushing a gun under the pillow
and when he asks what is his son shouts, It s non of your fucking business (page
116, line 13) and slamming the door in the head of his father. The father imagine that
he did not see what he saw, hoping he is

  • 6. Advantages Of Humanitarian Aid During Times Of War Humanitarian Aid during Times of war: The Good and the Bad Humanitarian aid is care that is given to those that are victims of natural disasters or those that are located in places where war is occurring or has occurred. This care can include anything from food and water, to medical supplies and shelter, such as tents. A lot of people may not be aware of the problems that can arise as a result of humanitarian aid, since many only hear the positive outcomes of aid. There are both disadvantages and advantages to humanitarian aid during violent times, and there is a question about whether or not the negative aspects may actually outweigh the good. Humanitarian aid during natural disasters is a little different from aid that is given during times of war. Access to humanitarian aid during times of war can be difficult due to many complex problems that can arise. The goal of humanitarian aid is to save lives, alleviate suffering and maintain and protect human dignity during and in the aftermath of emergencies , but problems arise when it comes to deciding who to help and where the lines are drawn for impartiality ( Humanitarian Aid 1). Humanitarian organizations claim to work by the principles of humanity, neutrality and impartiality , but by doing this they may actually be altering the outcomes and prolonging the duration of wars, particularly for those in Bosnia and Rwanda (Wassenhove 4). There are several theories about why aid is thought to prolong wars, none of which have been studied enough to be proven. Among many theories on how aid may prolong war, one theory describes how supplying aid decreases the cost of the war, which can slow down the flow of information between opponents, and can ultimately keep them from communicating what they are willing to accept in a settlement, and not knowing the outcomes of war can definitely delay the end of it (Narang 2). Another theory is that humanitarian aid, although it has good intentions, it can prolong war by supplying resources to opposing sides, and there are two ways this can happen. Humanitarian aid can directly supply combatants with resources such as shelter, medical supplies, and food by not being able to tell the difference between civilians and

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. And Congressman John Lewis Essay There is little debate among historians that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Congressman John Lewis are arguably two of the most important men in the Civil Rights Movement. Both of these men, Dr. Martin Luther King, in context of his involvement with the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, and John Lewis, in context of his involvement with the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, left indelible impacts on the trajectory and success of the civil rights movement writ large. While it is important to recognize the collective achievement of each of these men and the organizations in which they served, it is also important to recognize the reality that both of these men occupied distinct political positions within the movement which ultimately changed the ways in which they both would foresee the actions that they thought would be important and essential to the success of the movement. Politics, while more often observed in context of institutional power structures like governmental systems, i.e the federal government of the United States, is an important and fundamental feature of transgressive social movements as well. In the Civil Rights Movement, the fundamental differences in political ideology and direct action are best highlighted between King and Lewis in context of the each of the initial speeches that both of these men intended to give to attendees of the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. Based on the FD s statistics, there is compelling evidence indicative of both racial and gender discrimination against racial minorities and women, in recruitment, testing, selection, hiring and promotion to support the disparate impact theory (Guerin, n.d.). Larger grains the size of 70 Вµm first appeared 5,000 years B.C. and were common 4,000 years B.C. The size and axis/pore ratio had decreased in size to a size now typical of domesticated maize. It is important to note that the Zea found in San Andres were not native to the coastal Tabasco area and was an exotic species that was introduced to and cultivated by farmers. The appearance of this maize coincides with forest clearing in this area, probably for the purposes of agriculture, which was evidenced by charcoal. The settlement here was linked to the beach ridge and the lagoon which was attractive to maize farmers. Small Zea pollen disappeared after 2,500 years B.C. and around the same time, domesticated sunflowers appeared. The first sunflower seed found dates back to 2,667 calendar years. B.C., and the first sunflower fruit dates back to 2,548 calendar year B.C. The earliest date on maize in Mexico is 4,300 calendar year B.C. which meant that domestication had to have happened before 4,000 calendar year B.C. This early appearance of maize supports the supposed origin of agriculture in the New World in a humid, tropical setting and for early exchanges between Mesoamerica, and Central and South

Judaism and Islam have similar funeral practices. Both Islam and Judaism appoint the responsibilities of the burial of the deceased within their communities. Both traditions require the dead be buried as promptly as possible. It is for the body to be buried on the same day of the death. Islam and Judaismforbid embalming and routine autopsies as desecration of the dead. However, both religions consider organ donation as permissible. Muslims are strictly forbidden from the process of cremation, while Jewish rules on cremation can vary depending on the denomination. Conservative Jews oppose cremation while the process has become an increasingly more popular and acceptable practice among Reform Jews. In both religions the body is considered sacred and handled with care. Muslims are obligated to perform a procedure known as ghusl, or washing, on the body of the deceased. This procedure should be done by community members of the same gender. A deceased man should be washed by a male relative and a deceased woman by a female relative. During the procedure all clothes are removed from the body leaving the private areas covered. The deceased is then washed three times with a combination of both water and scented oils. The paper goes on to explore different methods of execution and how they have progressed and changed over the years. Documented cases at different points of history are referenced to show the relationship of time periods and beliefs to the implementation of capital punishment. Finally, the development of different laws and changes to existing laws pertaining to the death penalty are addressed. The History of the Death Penalty The death penalty has changed drastically throughout history. Some of the first known written laws regarding the death penalty date back to the eighteenth century BCE ( Part I , 2016). It is likely that some form of the death penalty existed long before written history, with a basis in customs, not legalities. The death penalty has continued to evolve throughout history, shaping the modern practices used in the United States and other parts of the world today. The administration of the death penalty has been shaped by the moral principles of those in authority and the mindset of the general public at each stage of history. This is shown through the evolution of different methods of execution, documented cases during critical points in history, and the laws pertaining to the death penalty at different

Case Study Of Pneumonia And Chronic Pulmonary Disease Case Study for Pneumonia Our nose and airway filters germs out of the air that we breathe in order to prevent our lungs from becoming infected. However, when germs does enters our lungs, it may cause infections such as Pneumonia which inflames the air sacs of the lungs, which can range from mild case to severe cases. The air sac may be filled with fluid or pus causing cough that associates with phlegm, fever, chills and difficulty breathing. The causes of pneumonia are extrinsic and intrinsic. The extrinsic factors include exposure to pulmonary irritants or pulmonary injury such as those who works in construction or agriculture. Inhaling dusk, chemicals and air pollution or toxic fumes can damage your lungs and make them more vulnerable for infection. Intrinsic factors are related to the host such as stroke, endotracheal intubation, diabetes, chronic pulmonary disease, human immunodeficiency or emphysema. Smoking and alcohol abuse could also be a factor because it damages the cilia in the lungs that help remove bacteria and germs. Alcohol abuse can put you at risk of aspiration pneumonia especially when you vomit and the small particles enter your lungs. In addition, alcohol interferes with the white blood cell production which us responsible in fighting infection in our body. Analysis Of The Lord Of The Rings Danielle McDermott Dr. Oldakowski College Writing Research Paper 12/3/14 J.R.R Tolkien and WWI Influence in The Lord of the Rings War has affected the lives of people since the beginning of civilization. Even General Sherman, famous for his March to the Sea in America s Civil War, was known for his saying, War is Hell. That idea would only prove to be all too true for the soldiers of World War I . J.R.R Tolkien was among the young men that struggled for survival in the damp and deplorable trenches as enemy fire hailed from the sky and bombs decimated the terrain around them. Many soldiers returned home, physically and mentally traumatized. J.R.R. Tolkien was no different, and returned home from the war after losing two of his closest friends, suffering from trench fever, and struggling to acclimate back into normal civilian life (Wood 7). The war left an imprint on him, just as it did many other WWI writers, such as Ernest Hemingway and Robert Graves (Ott 1). Tolkien used his writings as a way to escape his trauma, but the scars followed him even into his mythopedia of Middle earth as he wrote The Lord of the Rings. Sam, Frodo, and other characters, like Aragorn, suffered through similar physical tribulations such as horrid sights of rotting corpses, as well as emotional struggles, such as feelings of despair, similar to the soldiers of World War I (Ott 5). The various emotional and physical vicissitudes that Sam and Frodo encountered were similar to those suffered by

This type of infection would be contracted from exposure to other people harboring the bacteria, bacteria in the air, or bacteria on the injured person. The Miller Analogies Test (Mat) Is Utilized For Graduate The Miller Analogies Test (MAT) is utilized for graduate school admissions by university programs throughout the United States and it is presently regulated by Pearson. Dr. W. S. Miller of the University of Minnesota created The MAT in 1926. It does not cost anything to administer the test because someone cannot choose to administer the test individually, the MAT is only administered at certain Controlled Testing Centers (CTC). Controlled Testing Centers are usually colleges and universities that are testing students that are trying to get into graduate school. The fee to take the exam varies from CTC to CTC but it averages to around $75. Other fees include alternative testing site which is $149, the replacement score report fee is $25 per report, additional transcript fee $25 per transcript, and the score verification fee is $35 (Fees and Optional Services, 2017). The MAT has pronounced availability to take the test. The MAT does not have any fixed national test dates. Every CTC decides when and how often it administers the test. All tests administers are provided with a manual of directions to guarantee adherence to the standardized administration procedures

It concerns me the most because it would be devastating to the large number of low income families across the United States of America that rely solely on subsidize housing programs issued by the government. Various agency programs help pay a percentage of families or individuals rent. Without funding these cuts will definitely have a negative impact on the poor, seniors, individuals with disabilities, low income families and the working class. Without shelter programs it would cause women to become a part of the statistics of homeless or lead them back in the hands of their abuser. Also, public housing and rental assistance programs will be hit the hardest because these types of programs help decrease the number of homeless people. I do not agree with the 2018 budget proposal because all people need somewhere to live and housing is one of the key elements to living a healthy lifestyle. Families that are without housing will lead them to slip below the poverty line which increases their chances of becoming victims of crime and homelessness. Who is to say that they will remain steadfast and defend Singapore? They might just flee to their second home . Then does this not serve as a disadvantage to citizens who were born and raised in Singapore? Albeit unlikely to happen, the safety that we experience in Singapore must not be taken for granted. Singapore needs unwavering citizens who will not abandon it when times get tough. It gives other countries the excuse to bully and look down upon Singapore. Another issue that arises which is also related to Singapore s defense is the requirement for males with dual citizenship to serve National Service (NS). Is it still mandatory for them to serve NS even if they are living abroad? Thus, there are many complexities that need to be ironed out, should dual citizenship be allowed in

Global warming is the gradual increase in the average temperature of the Earth s atmosphere and its oceans due to green house gases emissions. (NRDC, 2005) In the past 100 years, the rate of global warming is unprecedented. In fact, global warminghas become one of the most challenging environmental problems in the 21st century. In order to effectively address this issue, international cooperation is necessary. Through international cooperation, undeveloped countries are able to overcome financial obstacles in meeting their targets. In addition, it could also promote worldwide technology sharing, data foundations and public awareness of climate change.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For starters, modern economy relies heavily on fossil fuels, which is a main resource that contributes to global warming. Adopting renewable energy might sharply reduce GHG emissions. However, according to international energy agency, switching from fossil fuels to low carbon sources of energy will cost $44 trillion between now and 2050 (IEA, 2009). In case 44 trillion is too abstract, 1 trillion dollar can fill up an entire soccer field and stack more than 10 feet high. This cost could be intimidating for any country. Moreover, the cost also depends on how long it takes for us to start reducing emissions. The IPCC report showed that continuing to hold off on reducing emissions could increase costs by 40 percent (IPCC, 2008) For developing countries, this cost would be a financial burden and a limiting reagent on GDP growth. Socially, civilian s life quality will be affected by the GDP reduction. As a result, it becomes more challenging for countries to take initiative in addressing this problem. The question eventually came down to whom should bear the astronomical cost? Are we willing to invest in something that might cost more than its benefits? Evaluation on its Successfulness The achievements of Kyoto Protocol have been controversial. Nevertheless, the agreement has had a mix of success. In order to evaluate its successfulness, we need data of the emission level of Annex I parties from 1990 to 2012 explicitly. As a result, the United States did not ratify the

The ADS works by producing 95GHz electromagnetic radiation that is focused in a beam at a target (Wikipedia, 2014). These 3.2mm electromagnetic waves work on the same principal as a microwave oven. The waves excite water and fat molecules instantly heating them through dielectric heating (Wikipedia, 2014). Due to the extremely high frequency of these waves, the energy from them is absorbed in within the first 0.4mm of skin, meaning they do not affect vital organs, blood vessels or nerve endings (Wikipedia, 2014). Due to these attributes, and the results of numerous studies, in which the worst injury inflicted by the ADS were pea sized blisters, with a 1 in 1000 chance of this... In a situation with low humidity, the ADS has an effective operating range in excess of 500m (Danyalov, 2014). The rain, fog, snow and sleet all reduce the range and effectiveness of the beam by absorbing the radiation it produces. The dust storm reduces the range of the ADS, not by absorbing the radiation, but by deflecting and dispersing it. Both of these situations mean that the full power of the ray is no longer reaching its intended target, which may moderate the ADS s sensation to warm and comfortable (Cumming, 2010). Along with aspects of the environment blocking the device, it can be countered by very reflective material such as aluminium foil (Cumming, 2010). As the physical landscape drastically changes, so do the very morals and establishments that hold society together. When the flood from the damaged levies reaches Zeitoun s neighborhood, Eggers demonizes the floodwater, describing it as almost animalistic using verbs such as swallowed and crawled when referencing the water flooding the property. This use of personification reveals Eggers motive to bring to light the helplessness felt by Zeitoun to save what he has left from the damaging waters. In this Man versus Nature situation, the reader feels the impact of the flood tearing away at what Zeitoun has built for himself. • 40. Persuasive Essay On Youth Sports America s baseball diamonds, soccer fields, hockey rinks, and basketball courts have never been so busy with children. The number of kids involved in an organized sport is not what is so groundbreaking. It s the way in which children are playing or how their parents are arranging for them to play that may be cause for concern (Ferguson). Much controversy surrounds youth sports with the biggest disagreements coming over parental involvement and the intensity of play. Although there are many benefits for team participation, there is a growing fear that the negatives are starting to outweigh the positives. Sports can be viewed as a learning environment that helps individuals learn life lessons, foster strong work habits and develop core values all the while learning a sport skill. Youth sports that truly benefit young athletes should be structured to emphasize participation more than just competition. Children enjoy a sport more when they are able to have fun (Humpries). Despite many excesses some sport programs still manage to promote important virtues like self confidence, teamwork, personal responsibility, coping skills, and persistence. Through sports kids can learn to stay organized and learn how to prioritize (Ferguson). Sports enables development of physical skills and increasing proficiency makes kids feel good about themselves. It teaches kids that failure is something to overcome and and not to fear (Meyerhoff 8 9). Youth sports has many aspects that are truly benefiting for children, but these benefits are slowly being clouded by the negatives that are prominent in today s youth sports. Youth sports in general is being reshaped because of how competitive americans are becoming. Every aspect of kids sports has become hypercompetitive hyper organized, and all consuming. The craziness in the culture of kids sports has led to the realization the world has changed.
