INTRODUCTION ABOUT TELECOM INDUSTRY
 Telecom services have been acknowledged globally as an essential
tool for the socio-economic development of a nation. India is
currently the world’s second-largest telecommunications market and
has registered exceptional growth in the past few years.
 The Indian mobile economy is growing rapidly and will contribute
approximately US$ 400 billion to India’s gross domestic product
(GDP), according to report prepared by GSMA in collaboration with
BCG.
 The rapid strides in the telecom sector have been facilitated by
liberal policies of the Government of India that provide easy market
access for telecom equipment and a fair regulatory framework for
offering telecom services at affordable prices. The deregulation of
foreign direct investment (FDI) norms has made the sector one of
the fastest growing and a top five employment opportunity generator
in the country
OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
 Other main objective of the project was to study the
trends in the International Telecom market.
Need for the Study
 This study is conducted to estimate profit level and
competitive position of the IDEA cellular.
Scope of the Study
 Scope of the survey includes identifying customer
needs and services that they expect from a service
provider so as to take measures to increase the
average revenue per user and increase the market
share of Idea
Limitations of the Study
 Time will be a major constraint.
 The data may be biased.
COMPANY PROFILE OF IDEA
 A US $28 billion corporation, the Aditya Birla Group is in the league of Fortune
500. It is a multinational corporation based in Mumbai, India with operations in
25 countries. The group is a major player in all the industry sectors it operates in.
The Group has been adjudged the best employer in India and among the top 20
in Asia by the Hewitt-Economic Times and Wall Street Journal Study 2007. The
origins of the group lie in the conglomerate once held by one of India's foremost
industrialists Mr. Ghanshyam Das Birla. He bequeathed most of these companies

return on our spend and assets to efficient information systems
supported processes, making its supply chain a benchmark across
industry.

HR STRATEGY
 Idea’s HR operations have all been enabled online
for its over 7,000 employees, to ensure that there is
minimal paper documentation. This has again
helped us save tonnes of paper that would have
been used in day-to-day HR related transactions
and communication.
 We use smart ICT solutions such as
teleconferencing, videoconferencing, web chats etc.
for internal communication amongst employees to
minimize travel.
