There are several types of governments:
- Unitary governments have power centralized in the central government. Saudi Arabia is an example.
- Federal governments share power between a central government and state/local governments, like Israel.
- Confederation governments give most power to local governments and the central government has limited power, like the UN.
- Democratic governments give citizens a role in government through voting and representation. Israel and Iraq are examples.
- Parliamentary democracies have citizens vote for representatives who then select a prime minister to lead, like Israel.
- Presidential systems have a president as both head of state and head of government, separately elected from legislators.
- Theocracies like Iran base
