This document discusses how building information modeling (BIM) can help address challenges in meeting client requirements for building design, construction drawings, and timely delivery at minimal cost. It explains that 3D BIM initially focused only on design information, but 4D, 5D, and 6D BIM add time, cost, and sustainability dimensions. This allows for more productive construction scheduling in 4D, better project cost estimation in 5D, and detailing sustainability attributes in 6D. The document encourages architecture, engineering, and construction professionals to utilize these BIM capabilities.
How to Create a Rock Star BIM Execution Plan (BEP) and MPDT* (Responsibility ...Fabio Roberti
A BIM Execution Plan (BEP) is a valuable and necessary part of any project in the AEC sector. It is essential when the team needs to work in a collaborative process to ensure that everyone on the project is aligned with the project objectives. A correctly implemented BEP will ensure the project goals are clear and agreed by the wide project team. Communication is a key component of all construction projects. To be successful, it requires many different people working together to achieve the client requirements. A well-built BEP requires the project team to work together and communicate from the very beginning to the completion of the project. This class will explain the importance of the BEP and demonstrate how to create an efficient BEP for post-contract-award which will include the Model Production & Delivery Table (MPDT). The post-contract-award BEP sets out how the information required in the Employer's Information Requirements will be provided.

This document provides an introduction to Building Information Modeling (BIM) and its relevance to audiovisual professionals. It discusses that BIM is a digital representation of physical and functional characteristics of a building that can be shared across stakeholders. BIM is becoming more important for AV professionals as buildings consume large resources, and the construction industry wastes over half of its money spent due to issues like change orders. BIM allows for more integrated project delivery to reduce waste. Traditional 2D drawings are insufficient for BIM which provides a data repository and ongoing model for a building's design, construction and maintenance information. Currently, Revit is a predominant BIM platform being adopted by architects and building owners leading BIM implementation.

BIM (Building Information Modeling) is an intelligent 3D model-based process that allows AEC professionals to plan, design, construct, and manage buildings more efficiently. BIM gets people and information working together effectively through defined processes and technology. BIM was brought to wide attention in the UK in 2011 and adoption has increased since, though more development is still needed. BIM reduces rework, improves productivity, reduces conflicts during construction, and allows clash detection to avoid rework. BIM supports collaborative working through shared files and inter-disciplinary access to work-in-progress. Autodesk Revit is a key BIM tool that supports architectural design, MEP, and structural engineering for collaboration across the project team
The document discusses Building Information Modeling (BIM) and its use and benefits in the Middle East. It notes that BIM allows creation of 3D building models using elements like walls, floors, and windows. It highlights benefits like reduced risk, no clashes, reduced waste, and enhanced coordination between disciplines. BIM provides complete information to owners and allows seeing designs like they will be built. It discusses how BIM helped build structures in the Middle East like Burj Khalifa and is more flexible for cost estimation.
The world of architecture, engineering and construction is changing. New ways of working and new tools are transforming the face of industry, allowing architects, designers, engineers and contractors to work more quickly, accurately and more cost affective. New Processes and Technologies are making it easier to collaborate and coordinate projects.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:

Issue we were trying to solve:
• Scope out the project and

Before we get started, I’d like to take a moment to introduce Microdesk and our presenter
Building Information Modeling (BIM) is more than a new approach to design, but a workflow that can encompass and benefit the whole design and construction process. However not everyone is on board to implement and streamline an entire new process and way of design, at least not until they have seen it’s advantages.
Join us on July 12th to hear design & technology expert, Peter Marchese, as he showcases an all BIM workflow that demonstrates the different benefits and aspects of BIM. From preserving data and avoiding re-work, to taking advantage of the big I, information, that allows us to script design and management needs in addition to confirming environmental concerns. Peter will showcase Revit, FormIt, Dynamo and some of the great A360 cloud services!
There are man BIM uses through out a projects life cycle.
No matter the project type there is someone needing a BIM Model for Designing Purposes, Analysis, Clash Detection and Coordination, 4D Simulations in Construction and for Information purposes for Facities Management.
Everyone has a different opinion on what BIM is.
1.misunderstanding, disagreement on the scope
Results - confusion (on what should be modelled, when, by whom) and blame (contractual challenges and huge risk for AECOs)
Text Option 1: Everyone has a different opinion on what BIM is and thus create misunderstanding, disagreement on the scope.
Text Option 2: Everyone has their own BIM Model use. Is this why we can’t get along?

Our industry is similar to many others in that it needs tools for Planning, Authoring, Analysis and Use
We have some fantastic tools for Authoring+Analysis+Use
However unfortunately we are still forced to use these tools for planning our BIM
Not only are they disconnected from each other - they are also completely disconnected from all of our brilliant BIM ecosystem
We believe in an integrated workflow with openBIM standards - that can support connections to other tools
That’s why we created LOD Planner
So for a long time we asked ourselves why this was - why is there so much opportunity for miscommunication when it comes to BIM scoping
LOD Planner is dedicated for BIM, connects the function of all of these tools and provides us the opportunity to connect a contract-to-validation workflow between all parties

Client is Related. Project is 240 acres, 12 million square feet, 25+ buildings, 6 billion dollars, participants…no idea, in the hundreds
We specifically used it for creating LOD Matrix tables for the purpose of informing the owner and all consultants what level of development their BIMs need to be and when.
Issues and problems we ran into:
Issue we were trying to solve using the app: LOD Tables are critical piece of the puzzle when it comes to scoping, bidding, and managing a BIM enabled project. Traditionally, these tables are either not filled out, clunky, back of house users fill it out, and not good looking
We couldn’t have different LOD’s per element within a section (this is a technical problem with the app, not user)
Not enough Project Management involvement in writing and understanding the LOD Scope (user behavioral problem)
Success stories:
Were able to inform and consult the owner in a meaningful way by showing them what they’ll get and when in regards to modelling
Created very clear tables and responsibilities in less time than it would normally have taken.
The tables were sent out with RFP’s so firms bidding on the project have a clear indication of what is required
Microdesk actually got these tables back when sub’s reached out for help with their modelling requirements
I can provide the LOD tables we created for RSC, note these are over 100 pages long.
LOD Tables are critical piece of the puzzle when it comes to scoping, bidding, and managing a BIM enabled project.
back of house users fill it out – IE not the people who will be doing the work, or really understand what it entails
Good looking – informative, clear

Plannerly also includes clearances which is not included in uniformat, but is important for coordination and can be specified for certain phases.
Clearances, Zone of Influence for things like footings
While the alternate option for doing this was excel, it would still track the data, but the clarity you get from this is above and beyond any other options. What is required is clear and who is responsible is color coded.
The all disciplines doc is a 200 page doc.
You can filter this doc in the project to show specific trades or companies too, in the case of the mep and strl doc, it can cut it to 6 pages for a particular company
Its very easy to run through this with an owner and organize and scope out elements to send out for pricing
Gets people to think more strategically about what is necessary and when, why are things important as opposed to just getting into working.
In this project, they have the ability to write the scope, but they don’t have the authority to enforce things. Our client does. So we give them the tools to better manage and track things.
Good comment, its hard to track if you don’t know what you’re tracking
