Why was it created The reason it was sculpted is that  the statue had a political connation  for the city state that had recently  cast of the Medici family. David’s character traits are reminded  as more important than his victory over goliath. (now & before) It was originally erected 1509 in the public plaza of Florence, the Piazza  della Signoria. 1873 the original moved to  the Accademia delle Belle art,  where it is better protect for prostery.
