This document provides a methodology checklist for systematically reviewing and conducting meta-analyses of studies. The checklist consists of 12 questions to assess the internal validity of a review, including whether the research question is clearly defined, a comprehensive literature search was performed, multiple reviewers selected studies and extracted data, publication status was not an inclusion criterion, excluded studies are listed, study characteristics are provided, and study quality was assessed and used appropriately. Reviewers are asked to use the checklist to evaluate the methodological quality of a review, determine if results are applicable to the guideline's patient group, and provide any notes.
