Log file analysis showed that 65% of users were remote, 18% browsed databases directly, and 65% of actions used QuickSearch despite changes made to discourage its use.

This history of derivations and interactions can provide a better context for data discovery, debugging, as well as auditing. In this area, others, such as Google and Databricks, have made small steps.
The Hopsworks approach presented provenance information is collected implicitly through the unobtrusive instrumentation of jupyter notebooks and python code - What we call 'implicit provenance'.

And maybe you wonder how would you determine the level of knowledge about Second Life of your students and, if doing that how to design the learning activity because Second Life has to be a tool for teaching not the subject of your learning activity.

This document presents a study on using a custom-built Apriori algorithm for web mining and discovering frequent patterns in web log data. The key steps are: (1) preprocessing a 70MB web log file, (2) developing a custom Apriori algorithm that prunes candidate itemsets of size >2 and only considers transactions of size >=k, (3) identifying frequent patterns using the custom algorithm, (4) analyzing the discovered patterns, and (5) developing a software tool to implement the custom algorithm. Experiments show the custom algorithm takes less time than the classical Apriori algorithm. The study aims to efficiently mine useful knowledge from web data.Tuning ETL's for Better BI
Finding ways to make ETL loads faster is not always obvious. Moreover, there is a difference in how to tune OLAP vs OLTP databases. Some of the techniques learned through years of tuning EBS seem to make no effect on tuning a BI ETL. This presentation will discuss why this is the case, present some techniques on how to find the bottlenecks in your BI ETL jobs and some techniques to tune these slow SQL statements, improving the speed of nightly ETL jobs. Attendees will learn the steps to monitor ETLs, capture Problem SQL and gain knowledge to improve the overall ETL Performance.
Intelligent query converter a domain independent interfacefor conversion
This document describes an "Intelligent Query Converter" (IQC) system that converts natural language queries in English to SQL queries. IQC uses semantic matching techniques and WordNet to match queries to database schema without requiring domain-specific configuration. The system classifies queries based on presence of value keywords and conjunctive clauses. Experiments show IQC correctly answered 64.5-87.9% of queries for different databases, outperforming Microsoft's English Query system which answered correctly 29.0-51.8% of time. IQC provides a domain-independent natural language interface to databases using semantic analysis techniques.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software Fuzzing
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.
