Morrison Utility Services designed and built a new £4.2 million 132/11kV substation for Santander UK's two new data centers near Enderby, Leicestershire. The substation included duplicate 11kV switchboards and systems to supply the 39MW connection from Western Power Distribution. Morrison Engineering Services handled the full design of the substation, including civil, electrical, and protection & control aspects. The substation was successfully energized, allowing the data centers to commence commissioning.

OVERVIEW
Santander UK established two new data centres at the Carlton Park site near
Enderby, Leicester, necessitating a dedicated 39MW connection from the host
DNO, Western Power Distribution.
PROJECT DETAILS
The project was competitively tendered and won by Morrison Utility Services,
allowing Morrison Engineering Services to undertake the complete design for the
project.
At Carlton Park, a new 132/11kV Substation was established which was connected
to two discrete 11kV switchboards to supply the customers demand. Due to
enhanced system security requirements, duplicate 11kV switchboards with
duplicate SCADA, 110v DC and 48v DC systems were installed within the switch
room, providing further redundancy.

Al 132kV underground cable circuits supplied a new 132/11kV
Substation on the Carlton Park site from Enderby 400/132kV Substation.
Morrison Engineering Services were responsible for the design, specification and
procurement of the cable, plus joints and accessories.
Following energisation of the transformers and a short period on soak to ensure no
issues arose, the customers outgoing 11kV cabling was connected, allowing them
to commence commissioning of the sites.
