Mercutio Essay. Analyse the importance of Mercutios role in Romeo and Juliet ...
1. Mercutio Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Mercutio" can prove to be a challenging endeavor, requiring a
nuanced understanding of Shakespeare's play, "Romeo and Juliet." Mercutio is a complex
character, full of wit, humor, and a tragic demise that adds layers to the narrative. To delve into
Mercutio's character, one must dissect his role in the play, his relationships with other characters,
and the impact he has on the overall storyline.
One of the challenges lies in capturing the essence of Mercutio's personality, which is marked by
a combination of lighthearted banter and a deeper, more somber side. Analyzing his famous
Queen Mab speech, his interactions with Romeo and Tybalt, and his untimely death requires a
keen literary analysis to uncover the layers of meaning embedded in his character.
Moreover, the essay should explore the thematic significance of Mercutio within the broader
context of the play. His role as a foil to Romeo and the catalyst for the tragic events that unfold
demands a careful examination of Shakespeare's intentions and the societal norms of the time.
In addition to literary analysis, the essay may need to delve into historical and cultural contexts
to provide a well-rounded understanding of Mercutio's character. This adds another layer of
complexity, as it requires the integration of external sources to support arguments and draw
connections between the character and the socio-cultural backdrop of Renaissance-era Verona.
Balancing the analytical depth required for such an essay with the need for clarity and coherence
can be another challenge. Ensuring that the essay presents a cohesive argument while exploring
the multifaceted aspects of Mercutio's character demands meticulous planning and organization.
In conclusion, tackling a "Mercutio Essay" necessitates a comprehensive grasp of Shakespearean
literature, a keen eye for literary analysis, and the ability to navigate the intricate web of
relationships and themes within "Romeo and Juliet." It is a task that demands dedication, critical
thinking, and a commitment to unraveling the complexities of one of literature's most intriguing
characters.

2. The Financial Data Of Publicly Traded Company Essay
An organizational leader, one with familiarity of financial statements and their
impact on the business as a whole, has an opportunity to play a vital role in his or
her position. The purpose of this paper is to collect, sort, and report on the financial
data of publicly traded company. This is much like that which is performed by a
Certified Public Accountant. In the case of this exercise, the information is presented
from the perspective of a student and future business leader. A summary of both the
company s business and financial health is also included in this paper. Without further
ado, let s delve in to the company chosen for this assignment.
Columbia Sportswear Company (Columbia) is a brand well known to and loved by
the author of this paper. Numerous products are found in her closet: fleece wear,
foot wear, rain gear, and clothing. A pair of hiking boots purchased in 2005 for a
trip to the east coast made their debut walking 13 miles in one day on the streets of
New York City. Not only are these boots still worn today, so also is a rain parka
purchased in 1999. An interesting point to consider is that many of these items are
purchased in outlet stores or as seconds . Personal experience with this brand aside, a
glimpse in to Columbia s history may prove that this company s focus on quality
holds high standards.
This Portland, Oregon based company, run by Chairman Gert Boyle, was originally
founded in 1938 by her parents as Columbia Hat Company. Today, this family
3. The French Republic Of France
The French Republic of France is located in Western Europe. It s history dates back
as far as Julius Caesar and the Romans. One could easily write a lengthy paper simply
addressing the history of France. Just looking at the last 5 centuries for France alone,
one could fill books with the information. Between the wars of Religion in the late
15th century, the Enlightenment and Reign of Napoleon during the 18th Century,
and the World Wars of the 19th century, France
has experienced monumental changes
becoming the country that it is today. France as it is known today did not adopt its
current constitution until 1958. The government of France is a unitary semi
presidential constitutional republic. This governmental system is very similar to that
of the United States the only difference being the existence of a Prime Minister and
a Cabinet which both compliment the President. Other parliamentary systems such
as India, Japan merely elects a President as more of ceremonial head of State.
However the French President actually works with some power (Hou, Stephen). The
President is the head of the armed forces and actually has control over France s
nuclear deterrents. The president is also in charge of selecting the nine members of
France s constitutional council, which then decide the constitutionality of some laws
(The Local). The Prime Minister is more so in charge of determining policy and
general direction that the country will take. The official language and most widely
4. Law, Fault Essay (Aqa)
Fault Essay (30 marks) Fault can be defined as legal responsibility or blame for an
offence or misdeed. It also refers to the mental state of the defendant. The basic
principle is that a D should be able to contemplate the harm that his actions may
cause and should therefore aim to avoid such actions. In general, a person cannot
be criminally liable and subjected to criminal sanctions unless it can be proved that
he carried out an illegal act in a blameworthy manner. An act does not make a man
guilty of a crime unless his mind is also guilty. The state of mind of the D is hugely
important in assessing whether or not he is at fault. However, to be found guilty of
most criminal offences (true crimes) both an AR and MR must be proved. The... Show

There are a few absolute liability offences, so convictions like these are rare. There
is no liability for omissions to act, even if the D is morally at fault, for example, no
by stander can be compelled by law to save a drowning child. Exceptions to this
general rule have been created where the law has imposed a duty to act. Pittwood
and Miller. Generally a failure, such as in these cases, will be punished less
severely than where a positive voluntary action has been committed. Causation: in
result of factual and legal causation must be established. In other words there will
be no liability if the D did not cause the result White. The decision on whether the
D is at fault may depend on which test for legal causation is used by the courts; a D
may escape liability if the daftness test in Roberts/Williams is applied, whereas the
harsher thins skull rule in Blaue may result in liability as it involves taking your
victim as you find him however daft or unpredictable they are. The MR is the
mental or fault element of the crime and is of key importance in establishing fault.
All of the non fatal offences require proof of fault for a conviction. For a s.18
offence, direct intention Mohan (highest level of fault as it is deliberate) or oblique
intention (lower level of fault as it was not the D s aim, but the D appreciated the
result was a virtual certainty Woollin) is required. This is because

6. Stereotypes In Sixteen Candles
Sixteen Candles is a movie about how a rich girl does not get to forfeit dreaded
teenage years. For Samantha Baker, the angst of young adulthood is with her
every single day. From her family forgetting her sixteenth birthday, to the geek
freshman wanting her underpants. Despite Samantha dreading every single day of
her life, things turn up for her in the end. In the beginning of Sixteen Candles, you
can see that the Baker family lives in a nice house and the family is getting ready to
go to work for the day. This shows that the Baker family is a prosperous family and
probably apart of the middle class. The textbook defines this class by stating, The
middle class is composed primarily of white collar workers with a broad range of

The Conflict Theory is described as being competition between social classes and
is the reason for all changes in society (Ferris 24). The Conflict Theory could also
be described as being a pyramidal shape. The New World Encyclopedia compares
the Conflict Theory to a pyramid, All major social structures, laws, and traditions
in the society are designed to support those who have traditionally been in power,
or the groups that are perceived to be superior in the society (New World
Encyclopedia). This is prevalent in Sixteen Candles because there are many
differences between classes. An example of this is Jake Ryan s car and his father s
car. Jake Ryan drives a red Porsche and Jake s father drives a Rolls Royce. While Jake
s family has nice cars, Long Duk Dong, a foreign exchange student living with
Samantha s grandparents, crashes a car that is definitely not a Rolls Royce. This
shows that there is definitely a conflict between classes as well as Samantha not
even being in Jake Ryan s social group. Or even close to
7. Who Is Another Brick In The Wall
Released in 1979, The Wall, by progressive rock band Pink Floyd, stands as one of
the most famous album of all time. Highly regarded for its deep lyrical meaning
and concept album storyline, The Wall sold over 19 million copies worldwide.
Exploring the depths of depression and pain, The Wall depicts the story of Pink, a
troubled man separated from the world by a metaphorical brick wall of isolation
and addiction. Thin Ice begins the album with the sheer cries of a wailing baby
depicting the innocence of new life. This innocence and purity, without a worry or
care, takes shape in the blue sky and warm sea of Pink s world. However, as the
song transitions the true reality of Pink s depressive and uncertain world comes
further into view; that life, like thin ice , is unpredictable and unforgiving. Another
Brick In The Wall pt. 2 continues to craft the ongoing struggle between Pink and the
metaphorical wall separating him from the emotional struggles of the world. Citing
his education as another brick in the wall Pink seems to suggest that the physical
and mental abuse he faced in school was like adding bricks to his wall of alienation

that separate him from true reality. Angry and confused Pink feels he needs nothing
from the world anymore, for certainly all that the world possesses leads to further
emotional damage and scars. Leading into Goodbye Cruel World , Pink s emotion
turns from anger to sadness as he places the final bricks onto the wall. At the point of
no return, Pink admits there is nothing the world can say to make me change

8. The Influence of Pressure Groups on the Government Essay
The Influence of Pressure Groups on the Government
This essay will outline the significance to which pressure groups have an influence on
government and explain how they have fared under New Labour governments.
Whilst the term pressure groups may be relatively new, the concept itself dates
back as far as 1787. The Society for Effecting the Abolition of the Slave Trade was
led by William Wilberforce and Thomas Clarkson and successfully campaigned for
the abolition of the slave trade. (Jones, 2004, p233)
Pressure groups are formed by a group of people who share a common interest or
goal. The intention of the group is to raise the profile or the cause and/or advance it.

Insider groups will regularly be consulted by the government. This consultative role
is built up if a group has demonstrated a number of features: Authority the ability of
the group to speak on behalf of all of its members. Information the group has
expertise and information on a specific subject. Compatibility of the objectives with
that of the government. Compatibility of the groups objectives with public
sympathies. Track record of giving good advice. Possession of powerful sanctions if
a group has the ability to seriously affect society through withdrawal of their services
their interests may be viewed more sympathetically. (Jones, 2004, p239)
Governments recognise the usefulness of pressure groups as a valuable source of
information and expertise in helping them formulate policies. Governments will
often consult with insider groups to find out about problems with their current
policies along with suggestions for how this could be improved or to gauge
negative feedback to new policies. By consulting the insider groups, government can
also lend legitimacy to the policy. This is referred to as policy networking. (Jones,
2004 p237)
In complete contrast to insiders groups, outsider groups have no direct access to the
decision makers, as they do not fulfil the criteria laid down previously.
With these distinctions is mind, it
9. Racism During The 19th Century
During the 19th century, racism was an established and widely accepted ideology
throughout the Antebellum South. Both Frederick Law Olmsted and John C.
Calhoun portray typical racist ideology during the 19th century in Antebellum South.
In his travelogue of the South, A Journey in the Seaboard Slave States; With Remarks
on Their Economy , Olmsted advocated for the free soil movement. On the other
hand, Calhoun advocated for slaveryin his 1837 speech, The Positive Good of
Slavery before the United States Senate. The free soil movement was an anti slavery
movement that in fact did not advocate for equal rights among blacks and whites, but
advocated that free men on free soil was a superior system to traditional slavery.
Surprisingly, anti slavery was much different to abolitionism. The goal of
abolitionism was the immediate emancipation of all slaves and the establishment of
equal rights among blacks and whites. The goal of anti slavery was the eventual
emancipation of all slaves with the understanding that blacks were inferior to whites.
Although both advocated for two distinct social standards for the African American
people, both had incorporated within their ideology the racist concept that African
Americans and their ancestors were inferior to white Americans.
Calhoun, during his speech before the Senate, argued the Positive Good of slavery.
Calhoun attempted to sway his audience into believing that slavery was not the evil
or immoral act as portrayed his

the obligations of adults, even if they are not ready. Surely two groups form. One

Problem Identification: The problem identified in the HBR Case Study the Army
Crew Team was Coach P s assumption that choosing the most physically fit rowers
would yield a high performing team. Coach P. failed to understand how team
dynamics, morale, and overall emotional intelligence of the team can inhibit team
success.
Alternative Analysis: Coach P. was baffled why the Varsity team performed poorly as
opposed to the non Varsity team. While he put much thought with selecting the most
physically fit team mates, he failed to understand the importance of recognizing and
working through issues in relation to emotional intelligence. The Varsity group kept
pointing the finger on others, failing to recognize and take accountability for their
overall subpar performance. Rather than work through the negative team dynamics,
they often emailed their complaints to the coach. An emotionally intelligent group
would have worked through their issues together as a group. If someone is acting out
of line, the team members must feel comfortable calling the foul. The team needed to
build positive norms such as responding constructively in emotionally uncomfortable
situations (Amabille, 2013). The team did not share ... Show more content on

need to agree to call eachother out on behaviors that add no group value. Coach P.
would need to lead by example, and call members out if they are not in line with the
agreed upon expectations. The group would need to commit to lead eachother

patient care. The use of utilization management (UM) are yielding financial benefits

Self care and medical consumerism programs are also a part of DM. They provide
member with access to medical information that will assist them in caring for
themselves and knowing when to consult a professional. These programs are now
an accreditation standard for health plans by the National Committee for Quality
Assurance (NCQA) as they promote consumer directed health (CDH). The benefits
of self care programs show $2.50 to $3.50 saved for every $1 invested by health
plans. A HMO study done showed a decrease in outpatient visits as well as a 2:1
return (Kongstvedt, 2007, p.192). Another different study showed a decrease in
pediatric acute care visits also.
Other programs under DM that have shown to be beneficial to both the members and
the health plans are, shared decision making programs and medical informatics.
PPOs, HMOs and CDHPs have preventive services programs being implemented.
Preventive services include services such as: immunizations, mammograms,
physicals, and counseling. An independent study on an indemnity plan that had
prenatal preventive services showed that members who enrolled into this program
had an average of $3200 less per delivery than those who had not (p.194). Health risk
appraisals are a program geared to obtain information from members regarding
activities or behaviors that can affect their health status (Kongstvedt, 2007,p.193).

In Deborah Tannen s essay I ll Explain It to You: Lecturing and Listening , she asserts
the belief that even though men and women speak the same structural language, their
motivations for speech and conversational patterns are very different. In the earlier
years of development, Tannen observes that girls use speech to find confirmation and
establish intimacy, whereas boys use speech to assert their independence and attain
social status. After transitioning to adulthood, women find themselves bored and
constantly nodding as men lecture them. Tannen provides specific observations of
gendercommunication that portrays women as passive reactors in a conversationand
men as the dominant aggressors. For example, Tannen writes that men tend to... Show

He laughed at the obvious icebreaker. I introduced myself and we ended up talking
for a good portion of the night. The conversation was not completely focused on
either one of us. Contrary to Tannen s views, I was first to introduce myself and
make sure the focus of the conversation did not shift solely to one person. When
holding a conversation, it would help to be educated on the topic in order to make
it more intellectually stimulating. If one is educated, one can respond thoughtfully
to the topic, and can therefore engage in, and sometimes lead, the discussion.
Tannen, however, suggests that expertise does not guarantee women center stage
in discussion. She noted that if women were experts on the topic, they were quick
to hide it and in doing so, the non expert male became the dominant force in the
discussion. When I have expertise knowledge on a subject, I tend to draw upon it
as much as possible. I was once involved in a heated debate regarding abortion and
I was arguing pro life. My male opponent said that abortion is necessary because
there are numerous many cases of rape and incest, and because of the
circumstances, abortion must be an option. Since I had expertise knowledge on the
subject, I was able to inform him that less than two percent of all abortions are due
to both rape and incest and that the numbers were clearly over exaggerated in order
to gain empathy. As the debate persisted, it was clear that I had the

In the digital world, the concept of direct marketing (especially direct mail) seems

direct marketing driven sales growth continued to outpace overall economic growth

have more of a chance of kicking the ball straight. The way you position your body
could depend on how you kick. If you are in a slouchy stance, then you won t get a
good kick. But, if you stand in an athletic stance then you can get the most out of
your kick. An athletic stance your knees are slightly bent, your resting on the balls

geometric dimensions. They conveyed that the loading type or condition governs the
state of stress all through the composite structure, which controls the locality and
mode of failure. The suitable failure criteria at any point of the structure accounts for
the biaxiality or triaxiality of the state of stress [38]. A four nodded plate element
based on a sophisticated higher order shear deformation theory can be established
[39] for the investigation of composite plates. This plate theory fulfils the
requirements of inter laminar shear stress continuity and stress free bottom and top
faces of the plate. Besides, the number of independent unknowns is the same as that
in the first order shear deformation concept.
Prediction of failure in composite materials can be done by implementing failure
theories [40 44]. The failure criteria s are not just for

Achievement of the Goals Set Down in the Charter Oath of 1868 by 1895
Soon after the Restoration, the Meiji leaders drafted an Oath for the Emperor to
take. The Charter Oath gave a general guideline for the new government and its
future policy. It was proclaimed on 6 April 1868. The Emperor declared that his
country was to establish assemblies and all policies to be based upon wide
consultation, to allow people to choose their occupation without class restriction, to
abolish the uncivilized customs, to learn useful and practical knowledge and the
national interest would override all other interests. After examining the result of
certain reform items, the goals set down in the Charter Oath were to a ... Show more

This was consistent with the first article of the Charter Oath.
In order to create a modern state and to free labor for a modern economy, the old
class divisions of samurai, peasants, craftsmen and merchants were abolished in
1869. Individuals were free to take up any occupation. However, the aim of this
measure was to build up the state and social improvements were only a by product. In
1876, the government went one step further and ordered the samurai to discard their
swords; the carrying of swords had been a symbol of their status for hundreds of
years. The outward distinction between samurai and commoners thus disappeared.
Judicial reforms were carried out to make past evils a crime. To achieve this, a
French lawyer was employed to head a committee to draft a criminal code for Japan.
After some amendments to bring them in line with the West, a modern legal
procedure was introduced, including the ban on torture and other evil customs.
The Charter Oath stressed that knowledge should be sought throughout the world.
The emphasis on education was thus obvious. One of the measures adopted by Japan
was to send students to Europe and the United States to gain first hand knowledge of
the West and to acquire technical information. The government also employed

Reasoning About an Ethical Issue Do not resuscitate orders should be more widely
accepted by society as a viable right to suffering patients. A DNR order indicates that
a person has decided not to receive cardiopulmonary resuscitation in the event that
their heart stops beating. The patient s relatives and doctors want to know what the
patient intended for their life when they still had the capability of making these
choices without any assistance. This gives the patient and their relatives the
opportunity to discuss their values along with the prognosis in order to come to a
definite decision.
DNR orders are the only order that must have the patient s permission to refuse CPR
from being used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Responsible and coherent decision making between physicians and patients about the
preferences of CPR requires that patients be properly educated on all the procedure s
risks. When doing this, it is also important that the physician conveys concise
probabilities of outcomes and that the resuscitation will be nothing more than an
attempted rather than a guarantee when CPR is used. Documenting the patient s
wishes in verbal and written health care directives will provide support for the
decision to write a DNR order and maintain it through the hospitalization. There is a
time and a place for DNR orders and they should be implemented with sensitivity.
When the order is written, this is the time for the physician to step forward and
provide care and compassion to the patients and their families during their final
moments.

21. The Interface Shear Behavior Of Hdpe And Ccls
In order to design composite liner, the interface shear behavior of HDPE and CCLs
needs to be considered since it causes risk of sliding failure. During landfill
operation, the interface shear behavior can be influenced by many factors. Wastes are
placed in the landfill sites with specific sequences, the landfillfinal cover is gradually
built with these sequences. As a result, parts of the slope liner can be exposed to F T
cycles in landfill located in cold regions. Thus, the temperature change is an
important factor which cannot be ignored. In Canada, there is a difference of
approximately 50в„ѓ between the summer and the winter (South Ontario, 2015). This
drastic temperature difference can form freeze thaw (F T) cycle. These F T cycles
and affect the interface shear behavior of the liner and thus jeopardize the safety of
the landfill.
Previous studies were conducted on the influence of the F T cycles on soil materials
(Starkпј€2001);Robert et al (1991) and Fishman Pal (1994)). However, there is no
investigations performed on the interface shear behavior of compacted Leda clay/
HDPE material, and the influence of F T cycles on this interface. Thus, in order to
understand the behavior and resistance of interface composite liner in cold regions,
particularly in Canada, a series of experiments have been conducted to study the
effects of varying numbers of F T cycles on interface shear behavior and strength of
Leda clay/smooth HDPE. The objective of this paper is to present

Social and Emotional is as important as physical and motor development. Physical

development but it doe not dismiss how important this concept is. It is through
social and emotional development that a child self awareness and their ability to
regulate body and behavior. Transition is very important for the success of a child
in school and social life. When a child is aware that he or she is separate from their
environment than they can began to process and understand the world and
establish meaningful relationships through their work or play. In order to
understand the data and analysis of the children we must keep in mind that each
child is unique in his or her rate of growth and development and there will be major
milestone differences. This paper focuses on the observations of social and emotional
development in children ages 3 years to 8 years old. For my observations I picked
two girls and one boy. My first child is a little boy blonde baby with brown eyes by
the name of Oliver. He was born on January 10th, 2013 and is now 3 years old.
Oliver is very energetic he loves to play outdoors. He is very self reliant and

Zeppelins had a prominent use in World War I by the German army and navy.
They used zeppelins for reconnaissance and later on used for bombing British
cities. They posed a huge threat to Britain as they struggled with the onslaught of

British defenses learnt to pick up their radio messages, so had warning of their

Most people have a book that they truly love to read, whether it s fiction or non
fiction. However, the content behind the book cover of Harry Potter and the
Sorcerer s Stone written by J.K. Rowling, seems to have stirred up quite the
predicament for the schoolboard. Mrs. Anna Davis the mother of Logan Davis,
wants to pull the book and keep it out of the hands of the students. Meanwhile, Mr.
Greg Hartmann an English teacher at the school and the one who assigned Logan
the book assignment in the first place, as well as some of the parents of the other
students want to keep the book accessible to everyone. As a member of the school
board, we need to look at both sides of the case in order to come to an appropriate
conclusion. We will first review Mrs. Anna Davis s claim and discuss why the book
should be pulled from the school s library. Then we will look over to Mr. Greg
Hartmann s side of the case and discuss why he should be allowed to keep the book
not only for the library but for his class assignment s as well. Finally, we will look
at a variety of possible solutions to try and come to an agreement between Mrs.
Davis and Mr. Hartmann sides of the book banning case.
Mrs. Davis initially complained about the homework assignment that was given to
Logan Davis her son. Logan is a student in Mr. Hartmann s English class and was
asked to write about the characters in the fictional story of Harry Potter and the
Sorcerer s Stone. Mrs. Davis has given her reasons as to why the book

This angular frequency is often known as the cyclotron frequency since charged
particles circulate at this frequency in one type of accelerator named a cyclotron.
If a charged particle moves in a uniform magnetic field, with its velocity at some
arbitrary angle to B, its path is a helix. For example, if the field is in the x direction
as in the figure shown below, there will be no component of force in the x direction,
and hence ax=0 and the x component of the velocity vx remains constant. In contrast,
the magnetic force qvГ—B causes the components vy and vz to change with time,
and therefore the resulting motion is a helix having its axis parallel to the magnetic
field.
An even more interesting fact is when charged particles move in a nonuniform
magnetic field. Here the motion is rather complex. For instance, in a magnetic field
that is strong at the ends and weak in the middle, the particles will be fluctuating
back and forth between the ending points, as in the figure shown below. Anyway, this
magnetic field can be generated by two current loops going in the same direction. In
this case, the charged particle will start spiraling along the magnetic field lines
starting from one end till it

In nineteen thirteen, Isak Dinesen and her husband Bror settled in present day
Kenya, and Isak s life changed dramatically (Stanley and Milne 195). A former
Danish aristocrat, Isak became the owner of a coffee farm, the superior squatter
(Dinesen 89) of the Kikuyu tribe that lived and worked on her farm, and a friend to
many different cultures within East Africa. The discovery of the dark races was to
me a magnificent enlargement of all my world (Dinesen 20). It is important to
remember that while Isak was friends with the Kikuyu and Somali people, it is clear
that her European culture ranked superior to theirs. But I felt the silent overshadowed

Many middle and upper class Europeans found this offer very appealing (Schow 48).
They would stand no nonsense from their own country or their own relations, but
they took the drought of the African Highlands, and a case of sun stroke, the
Rinderpest on their cattle, and the incompetency of their Native servants, with
humility and resignation. (Dinesen 20) With colonization comes the natural idea that
the settlers have a right of superiority over the indigenous people. This idea held to
be true in almost all of European colonization in Africa (Stanley and Milne 198), but
Isak Dinesen and her relationships with African people and cultures were special.
Unlike most of her fellow Europeans, Dinesen embraces the differences she finds
between herself and the East Africans and often adopts their customs and attitudes.
Her relationship with them evolves into friendship (Stanley and Milne 198).
Besides Isak and her fellow Europeans, the most important ethnic group and culture
in Out of Africa were the Kikuyu people. By the 1880s, the Kikuyu had moved into
the more or less empty lands in the middle of which Dinesen and her husband
would later have their farm general (Moss and Wilson 291). The Kikuyu were seen
as a stubborn people that would allow settlers to effect their ways in as little amount
as possible. For he will really rather die than change his ways (Dinesen 63). Stanley
and Milne agree, stating on page 201, the only

State X enacted a statute in 2000 that stated, the governor has the sole authority to

regulations, and rights as seem fit without court supervision and/or authorization.
Following a breach of levees in City B located in State X, the governor of State X
ordered that all legal and illegal firearms be confiscated. The governor also ordered
all police and troops to conduct a house to house search and seizure of all such
weapons. In order to determine the constitutionality of the statute under the
circumstances, we must first examine the constitutional authorities prevalent to the
issue at hand. The constitutional authorities that apply to this statute are the 5th and
14th amendments. The 5th amendment states, No person shall be deprived of life,
liberty, or property without due process of law. The 14th amendment states in
pertinent part Nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property

substantive. Procedural due process occurs when an individual who is faced with
deprivation of property or liberty is denied notice and an opportunity to be heard

reasonable basis for enacting a statute that interferes with one s liberty. Under the

The definition of criminal liability is when one does not commit an act of crime
intentionally, but the actions he or she takes result in a crime. An instance of
criminal liability would be if an individual takes medication that makes him or her
drowsy and that person operates large machinery and hurts or kills someone. He or
she did not plan to hurt anyone but were negligent on the actions taken (Lippman,
2010).
Accomplice liability means that under criminal law, any individual may be held
responsible for a crime if he or she intentionally abets, encourages, solicits, advises or
procures the commission of the crime by physical conduct or psychological influence.
Generally, a failure to prevent another from committing a crime will not trigger
accomplice liability. However, that omission could be a factor in determining whether
psychological influences such as actus reus (guilty act) and mens rea (guilty mind) of
accomplice liability existed in the commission of a crime. The requirement of actus
reus accomplice liability involves even the smallest amount of psychological
assistance to the perpetrator of a crime, whereas mens rea involves showing ones
intent to assist in the commission of a crime (Lippman, 2010).

35. The Christian Life
The Christian life is a discussion that the details of its description such as the
definition, ground and power are not easy to explain. The scriptures paint a vast
web of each author s ideals on what the Christian life should be. For example, in I
Corinthians 6: 1 8 we see Paul referring to the different standards that must prevail in
the Christian community and then in Ephesians we see the distinction of Christians
from the nations. (Hessert, 16) Every Christian has this picture of what living the
Christian life should be. Not every picture is the same but certain concepts are
universal. The golden rule do unto others, as you have done unto you is a prime
example. Every sect of Christianityis different yet the golden rule stands throughout
all religionsects. The Christian life is complex because there are so many factors that
play into it. The most vital parts of the life are to understand that we belong to God
and we must follow the guidelines that he has set forth and to follow the path of
progress even in the times that it becomes unclear.
The Christian life is filled with joy, complexity and peace that people can find,
even in their darkest of times. Through faith many feel that we are not our own
masters, but belong to God. (Calvin, 1) The ideals are very straight forward in the
sense that we are to provide our bodies to God as a living sacrifice and live by him.
We must not conform to the fashion of the world, but be transformed by the renewal
of our minds, so

39. A Research Study On Toxic Leadership
Significance of the Study
This dissertation study is an opportunity to explore toxic leadership in nonprofits in
Orange County. Also, to examine the impact of toxic leader s practices on OCB and
turnover intention as two variables that can harm nonprofit organizations
significantly. Moreover, to determine the influence of employee engagement on their
organizational citizenship and turnover intention because of the toxic leadership
behaviors. The gap in the literature about toxic leadership in nonprofits has inspired
me to study this issue as indicators of the ability of leaders to build an innovative and
well functioning organization. The results of this study may become valuable to
those seeking organizational development, and development ... Show more content on

6.What strategies can an individual, team or organization employ to counter the
effects of toxic leadership?
Conceptual Framework
Toxic leadership includes managerial incompetence, threatening, controlling and
unlawful behaviors, and physical and non physical abuse that are intentionally hostile
or detrimental to both individuals and groups (Ashforth, 1994; Kellerman, 2004;
Reed, 2004; Lipman Blumen, 2005a). Whereas, intentionality play a central role in
how the leader can be classified as intentionally toxic or unintentionally toxic leader.
Leaders who are considered intentionally toxic deliberately harm others to strengthen
themselves at the expense of others (Lipman Blumen, 2005a). While unintentionally
toxic leaders act recklessly, including being incompetent, which can have significant
negative effects on followers.
The study of Pelletier (2010) reveals eight dimensions of leader toxicity that
involves leaders breaking down the self esteem of followers, threatening
employees, lack of integrity, intimidating employees physically and mentally, and
being dishonest. In addition, leaders are considered toxic when they promote a
culture of division and fail to listen or act on employee concerns. It is important to
distinguish between bad leaders and toxic leaders where the influence of the leaders
on followers will determine this fact. As toxic leaders, will have a long term
psychological and physical effects on their followers (Pelletier, 2010).

41. The Berlin Wall And The End Of The Wall
The Berlin Wall was a fortification established in 1961 in order to separate East
Berlin from West Berlin. The wall separated people from their work, home, and
family, and the results were devastating. The events that surrounded the destruction
of the wall proved that men seek freedom by nature. Many parallels can be drawn
from the fall of the wall in 1989 to the end of the embargo that the United States had
on Cuba for roughly half a century. Germany was split four ways (see picture to the
left) between the United States, France, Britain, and the Soviet Unionafter World War
II. The United States, France, and Britain controlled West Germany and West Berlin
in a democracy. Whereas, the Soviet Union controlled East Germanyand East Berlin
with communism. About 2.5 million people fled from East to West Germany
between the years of 1949 and 1961. In Germany the U.S.S.R. built a wall that
surrounded West Berlin. The wall was built because they feared that the loss of more
people would threaten their economy. The wall symbolized the difference between
[how] western democrats and eastern communists (C., R., S., 2012) believed that the
country should be run. In Germany the USSR built a wall that surrounded West
Berlin. They built this wall because they feared too many people were fleeing East
Berlin and even East Germany for the freedoms in West Berlin. (History Channel,
n.d.), (History , n.d.).
The building of the Berlin Wall separated people from their work and
42. Misunderstood Culture In Things Fall Apart By Chinua
Achebe
Preconceived ideas about one s culture often arises from stereotypes passed down
from generation to generation. It is those stereotypes which shape one s way of
thinking, without being educated properly. In the novel Things Fall Apart, by
Chinua Achebe, misunderstood culture is what drives the story of a small African
clan called the Umuofia and the life story of Okonkwo, a fearless warrior and
farmer. An in depth look into pre colonial African culture helps the reader discover
and understand an unbiased point of view of a world one may not understand. In
doing so, Achebe uses imagery as well as strong narration to describe the cultural
norms and activities that the Nigerian tribe undergoes in everyday life. Through
this he offers a nonbiased point of view, and communicates and accurate picture of
pre colonial African culture to a western reader. Achebe uses the tribe s spirituality
as a beacon of relation to the western reader. Often times, westerners believe that
African culture and spirituality is riddled with mysticism and voodoo, however,
Achebe describes it differently through the use of imagery. In this quote, Achebe
explains The Feast of the New Yam, and its importance to the Umuofia people. It
was an occasion for giving thanks to Ani, the earth goddess and the source of all
fertility. Ani played a greater part in the life of people than any other deity. (Achebe
36). To the Umuofia, Ani was their explanation of where their vibrant crops and
healthy lives arose

Wireless sensor networks are very important in everyday life. This new technology is

An extension of this approach is in network aggregation which aggregates data
progressively as it is passed through a network. In network data aggregation can
reduce the data packet size, the number of data transmissions and the number of
nodes involved in gathering data from a WSN. Therefore, in the field of WSNs,
privacy preserving data aggregation is becoming a hot issue in WSNs. To address
this issue, some protocols have been proposed. In this, they provide a
comprehensive summary and comparison of the existing privacy preserving data
aggregation protocols for WSNs. WSN is related to privacy preserving data
aggregation protocols (Ping et al 2012). In the authors reviewed privacy preserving
techniques for protecting two types of private information: data oriented and
context oriented privacy. First, authors focuses only on data privacy in order to
provide detailed overviews of the existing privacy preserving data aggregation
protocols for WSNs (Ping et al 2012). Two main security challenges in secure data
aggregation are confidentiality and integrity of data (Sugandhi et al 2013). While
traditionally encryption is used to provide end to end confidentiality in Wireless
Sensor Network (WSN), the aggregators in a secure data aggregation scenario need to
decrypt the encrypted data to perform aggregation. Thus, while data aggregation
improves energy efficiency of a network, it complicates the existing
44. Cultural Conflicts In Nicaragua
Introduction While China, North Korea, Russia, Iran, and immigration have
dominated international news, clashes between the government and protesters have
resulted in 145 dead and thousands injured (Agence France Presse, 2018, para. 5)
during the bloodiest disturbance in Nicaragua since the 1980 s (Associated Press,
2018, para. 11). A missionary evacuated from the region in May succinctly expressed
the frustrations of many over the lack of impetus of other nations to condemn the
rampant violence and human rights violations that have become common place in
this conflict (R. Caiazzo, personal communication, June 5, 2018). Analysis
Addressing cultural conflicts begins by mastering the story behind the problem
(Patterson, Grenny, Maxfield, McMillan, Switzler, 2013). Hauk and Mueller (2015)
suggest three variables common to such stories; the cultural leaders, the cultural
perspectives, and the incentives that compel each group to engage or disengage in
negotiation. Understanding these components offers insights to open potential doors
to negotiate an acceptable resolution. Cultural Leaders The first step in moving
cultural conflicts toward productive negotiation is identifying leaders; influential
individuals which Hauk and Mueller describe as the source of culture.... Show more

John Hughes movies they are based on teenagers and these films impress many. The
Breakfast Club is a comedydrama film, which is remembered to be one of the best
movies of all time and I agree. The acting, theme hidden within the movie, and plot

47. Never Just Rain Analysis
Rain and other types of climate are also forces that Foster conveys as important to a
plot or an entire story. Rain is brought up in chapter 10 of his book and he states that
rain is never just rain . Rain represents more than just rain, it shows life and fertility,
purification, and shows different atmospheres. To represent rainin a greater view,
Foster uses the allusion of Noah and the flood to show how the flood had came
down from the sky and wiped almost everything off the earth and when it ended,
the earth was once again pure. Symbolically, Foster shows how rain can be used as
a sort of baptism that removes sin, like the Noah allusion because those who sinned
were wiped from the earth. However, at the end of it a rainbow appears promising
peace. There is change as the earth is restored to its power it once was before and the
rainbow symbolizes that change. The earth was reborn with that allusion Foster
conveys... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the jail successfully. However, he does this secretly and gains friends to help him

the outside of the prison and he successfully hides his hole with a poster. As soon as
he exits to the real world , it is shown to be actually raining which adds an

this scene it shows happiness and actually purifies Andy. He is reborn as a new
person with a new life as he escapes. The rain really makes Andy reborn within the
new world and he is represented as a new person. After this scene, he is seen in a car
driving on a road like a normal, free person would do. He died as a prisoner and was

Worse Than Death by Christine Mitchell explains to us how people felt after
Charlotte has died. She made this very persuasive due to her taking the side of the
doctors. Through the story the narrator starts with explain how charlotte died from
few brain cells. This caused her to stop breathing and pull away from pain. The next
thing we know is that the doctors where worried about why the parents chose to put
their child and them through pain of the death. The parents asked them to do cruel
stuff to keep their child alive. The doctors refused to do it. They wanted to have a

She explains how they felt after the death of charlotte. For example, she says, We

this baby. Another strength is she explains the problems that charlotte had and how
they tried to resuscitate her. In the beginning of the story Christine Mitchell says,

drugs into her veins, tubes into her trachea and needles into her heart, trying as hard

51. Debt Relief for African Countries
Over the past few decades Africa s overall economic performance has been in
decline especially in the 1980s. There has been little prospect for the future of most
of these developing countries, however during recent years there has been a degree of
optimism considering the development performance of the economyas well as
providing a better long term future. The crisis emerged in 1982 with their debt
rising above $140 billion to over $270 billion in 1990 (World Bank, 2013). There
has been stagnation regarding the growth of their economies but despite periods of
success Africahas been unable to unleash its full potential. In order to fully
understand the effects of the debt crisis further examination into the background and
causes of the crisis is needed, with attention to specific countries. The effect of the
debt on the developmentof the region has to be discussed in detail in order to
understand the difficulties most of these countries face with repaying their debts
and promoting continuous economic growth. By highlighting the degree of
optimism which has been evident in recent years for developing countries to
progress, we can argue that there is a future for most of these countries when they
look past the obstacle that debt presents. Especially in the 21st century where
Africa is seen as one of the leading economies. This raises the possibility that
despite huge overall debt stocks, that Africa may rise on the world economic platform
and over take a few of the world s

Now I would call Clooney a throwback. He is a throwback to what they suppose

the closest thing we have to Clark Gable, a mantle he has accepted to the extent that
he replicated Gable s rhythms and timing for O Brother, Where Art Thou? But there
are a lot of throwbacks in this world. George Clooney is the only throwback who
lives in Clark Gable s house.
He also seems grateful to his family now grateful, in particular, to his father, for being

53. What Doctors Feel, By Hochschild s A Managed Heart
From the top down, emotional labour is necessary in almost every profession. The
way employees interact with customers can directly and indirectly impact sales
and the reputation of a company. While it is very visible in lower class jobs like
waitresses and cashiers, who interact with customers directly every time they do
their job, it is also necessary in higher positions in a corporation. People in
management positions are told they must treat employees with respect because
happy employees can increase productivity. In A Managed Heart, Hochschild
focuses on mid class professions and how workers participate in emotional labour.
Ofri s book, What Doctors Feel, focuses on emotional work in the high class medical
industry. Hochschild s A Managed Heart highlights the dangers of emotional
management where Ofri s What Doctors Feel has a more positive outlook on the
topic, however, both authors would agree that expressing the proper emotionat the
proper time despite some risk is necessary in almost ever career. In The Managed
Heart Hochschild focuses on emotional labour: managing one s emotions in the
work place because it is one s job to do so. While she touches on some benefits of
emotion management, her book focuses on the dangers of losing one s true self
when one s employer can control how one feels. Her main subjects are bill collectors
and flight attendants, both are expected to have extreme (and opposite) emotions on
the job. The bill collector is supposed to

Dogs are cute animals. Even though some people think bringing dogs to
workplaces is not a problem at all, I think it is. I think bringing dog to workplace
could cause distraction for the employees, and disrespectifull for others. First
reason why Im against of bringing dogs to work is because It may cause distraction
for the employees. Dogs are always active, which is mean a lot of energy. They want
to play most of the time, and go everywhere. For example, walking between leggs,
jumbing infront of people and laying down on disks is unconfortable for some
people. Not only that, some dogs bark at the slightest noise, and other chew,

that. Another reason

Angelman Syndrome Prader Willi Syndrome
Introduction
Prader Willi and Angelman Syndrome are two genetic disorders with vastly differing
phenotypes linked by missing genetic imprints on the 15th chromosome s q arm
between regions 11 and 13 . While both orders result in mental deficits, their
symptoms are otherwise segregated from the other in their entirety. The differences in
the disorders are the result of differing DNA methylation patterns present in
maternally and paternally inherited DNA. If the deletion occurs in the mother s DNA,
then Prader Willi Syndrome appears. When the deletion occurs in the father s DNA,
Angelman Syndrome is the result.
The phenotypical differences between the two disorders are drastic. Those with ...

The Nature of the Disease Angelman syndrome is thought to be caused mainly by
the deletion of the maternally inherited copy of UEB3A. A small number of cases
are also caused by failures in imprinting or, very rarely, monosomy 15 in the egg
and disomy 15 in the sperm. The profound mental effects are caused by this gene
due to the fact that, while UEB3A s protein is active in various bodily tissues, only
the mother s copy of the gene is active in the brain. The phenotype of Angelman
Syndrome is not overt enough to be detected unless it is being specifically looked for.
EEG scans are capable of detecting the disease at early ages, before it is otherwise
possible to detect.
Prader Willi
Prader Willi is caused by either deletions, failure in imprinting, or monosomy
/disomy 15 from the father s side. The genes involved are known to include, but are
not known to be limited to SNRPN and NDN. NDN odes for the protein Necdin,
which, in rodents, interacts with neurotrophin receptors in a way that is not
completely understood to promote normal cognitive development. SNRPN codes
for several products, including small nucleolar RNAs, a splicing factor involved in
RNA processing, and a polypeptide known as SNURF. The precise role of this gene
is unknown.
Symptoms. Prader Willi syndrome presents symptoms beginning in utero, where the
fetus is less active than one without the
