Fulfilling the Social Contract through Social Media mediaInfosys
Social media is often seen by most organizations as a means to an end. And its success is considered to be a happy accident – but in reality, it's a product of meticulous planning and strategizing that helps deliver sustainability.
JEGI & IAB Social Media Ecosystem ReportAmir Akhavan
JEGI is pleased to share with you the recently released Social Media Ecosystem Report, developed by Amir Akhavan, who covers Technology, Marketing Services, and Interactive at the firm, and supported by the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB). In the evolving world of technology, change is a constant state, wherein today’s news often becomes instant history. As such, this report is intended to do two things: first, to capture a moment in time, to bring its readers up to date on some of the latest developments, as brands become publishers, as advertisers seek ever more finite detail about their targets, and as users reinforce their role as kings of the hill; and second, to provide some observations about where the social ecosystem is likely to go. For more information, contact Amir Akhavan at amira@jegi.com or 212-754-0710.

This presentation, plus workshop, was shared at the Cleanweb UK Meetup on February 22, 2016 at the Impact Hub Westminster in London. It's a walkthrough the IYWTo platform we are building to map and promote digital projects to act on climate change. And an explanation of why we believe web innovation has a fundamental role to play in driving behavioural changes to tackle climate change. The IYWTo is illustrated by a series of examples. Two exercises close the presentation. We worked as a group to address the issue of speeding up the cleanweb mapping process and of engaging people with the cleanweb on the emotional level.

The objective of this work is to contribute to valorization de Nephelium lappaceum by the characterization of kinetics of drying of seeds of Nephelium lappaceum. The seeds were dehydrated until a constant mass respectively in a drying oven and a microwawe oven. The temperatures and the powers of drying are respectively: 50, 60 and 70°C and 140, 280 and 420 W. The results show that the curves of drying of seeds of Nephelium lappaceum do not present a phase of constant kinetics. The coefficients of diffusion vary between 2.09.10-8 to 2.98. 10-8m-2/s in the interval of 50°C at 70°C and between 4.83×10-07 at 9.04×10-07 m-8/s for the powers going of 140 W with 420 W the relation between Arrhenius and a value of energy of activation of 16.49 kJ. mol-1 expressed the effect of the temperature on effective diffusivity.

and inability of the current top-down environmental governance
to address the issue in a cost-efficient way. More information is

A completely sustainable world, where every person lives an eco-
friendly life, builds his/her own eco-innovations, and thus creates
positive social/environmental impact in a fun way anywhere in the world.

3. PROBLEM / OPPORTUNITY
Social and environmental issue:
Barriers experienced by residents (especially rural unprivileged
communities) in developing countries, such as Moldova, to access and
apply efficient open-source eco-innovations. These communities are in
need for solutions to improve quality of the environment their members
live in and thus enhance social wellbeing and improve their health.
Residents of developing countries suffer from
pollution , low quality of environment, and inability of
current governance to solve this issue.
Example: In Moldova about 95% of groundwater
resources is contaminated by waste pollutants, while
more than 70% of population use groundwater as
drinking water supply. This causes a series of
illnesses and increases morbidity rate in the country.
People usually cannot improve quality of
environment they live in due to high costs of
commercial solutions and lack of environmental and
engineering knowledge to build own ones.
Example: A commercial water purification filter
costs around 200 USD, while the construction of a
no-less-efficient DIY (Do-It-Yourself) one sums up to
about 50 USD.
4. SOLUTION / INNOVATION
MEGA innovation, where YOU play for impact:
MEGA Generation offers the power to learn, innovate, and co-create in
an engaging and fun way. It gives people the possibility to get real
open-source eco-innovations and improve environmental quality and
their wellbeing in a cost-efficient way through community-based
learning and co-creation with skillful young people worldwide.
On-line gamified platform allows people
/organizations in need for eco-innovative solutions to
post their issues, connect with active youth
worldwide, and co-create efficient eco-innovations
together in a cost-efficient and entrepreneurial way.
The platform is unique due to the connection of the
on-line game-like environment with real-world action.
Off-line MEGA Generation community consisting
of people /organizations in need for eco-innovations,
and youth willing to offer their passion and skills to
help them, learn, and have fun at the same time.
The two groups are connected through missions,
quests, e-learning, and networking center within the
platform, but perform necessary action in real world.
5. IMPACT
MEGA change statement by 2020:
MEGA Generation platform is the people’s first choice when it comes
to collaborative development of open-source eco-innovations and
sustainable solutions. By 2020 350 000 registered young makers,
environmentalists, and organizations will have created 30 000 types of
sustainable solutions that 700 000 community members will be using
to improve their environment and well-being in a cost-efficient way.
Key data and metrics:
1. On-line: user traction on the platform, growth rate
of user base, number and content of needs
(missions) posted by people in need or
organizations representing them, missions
completed successfully and eco-innovations
documented, quality of reports of eco-innovations
testing and impact achieved submitted by users.
2. Off-line : observations and measurements on eco-
innovations application and positive social and
environmental change achieved that are done on
site by Mission Providers and MEGA.
Scalability potential:
The 2 key features allow the project to grow virally:
1. Gamification: User engagement is designed in the
form of a game, making it fun and attractive for
people to participate and play more and more. The
system also motivates users to invite their friends.
2. Community: MEGA Generation is designed to
scale up virally by engaging community members
throughout its development and growth. And the
community-based co-creation increases
engagement and trust of users towards the platform
and community, making more individuals and
organizations interested to participate.

and test it with the first 300 users
Accessibility and impact:
How do people interact with the innovation?
Does our platform bring intended value & impact?
Smartphone app and partnerships:
In September 2015 we release the app version and
deliver the platform on TEKEDU computer stations
