King Arthur was a legendary British leader who, according to medieval histories and romances, led the defense of Britain against Saxon invaders in the early 6th century. However, the details of Arthur's story are mainly composed of folklore and literary invention, and his actual existence is debated. In the film The First Knight, the villain Malagant kidnaps Princess Guinevere and Lancelot rescues her, but they are seen kissing, leading to a trial. Malagant then kills King Arthur, after which Lancelot kills Malagant and becomes the new king.
