2. Henry 8 was King of England from 21 April 1509 until his death. Henry was born in 1491.
Henry was the second monarch of the house of Tudor, succeeding his father Henry 7.
3. His father and mother, King Henry 7 and Elizabeth of York. His mother was Elizabeth of
York, York`s daughter of King Edward 4.
4. King Henry 8 married six times. The names of his wives were: Catherine of Aragon, Anne
Boleyn, Catherine Parr, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Catherine Howard.
5. Henry was considered, an attractive, educated and accomplished King in his prime and has a
reputation as ,, one of the most charismatic rulers to sit on the English throne” , but according
to the English chronicler Rafael Holinshed the number of executions in his reign amounted
to72000!
6. Late in life Henry became obese and had to be moved about with the help of mechanical
inventions. The last set of armor owned by King Henry 8 showed a waist measurement of
waist of about 140sm which indicated a weight of about 145kg when he was an old man.
Henry`s obesity hastened his death at the age of 55, which occurred on28 January 1547 in the
Palace of Whitehall.
