- 4. What is Mesenteric adenitis ? Mesenteric adenitis is a condition that more often affects children and teenagers. It causes inflammation and swelling in the lymph nodes inside the abdomen. Lymph nodes are small, bean-shaped organs that contain white blood cells called lymphocytes. They are part of your body’s lymphatic system. Lymph nodes play an important role in the immune system. They filter out bacteria and other germs from the lymph fluid so your body can remove these harmful substances. Mesenteric adenitis affects lymph nodes in tissue called mesentery. This tissue connects the intestines to the abdominal wall. Another name for mesenteric adenitis is mesenteric lymphadenitis.
- 5. Symptoms Symptoms of mesenteric adenitis can include: A. pain in the lower right part of the abdomen, or in other parts of the belly B. fever C. nausea and vomiting D. diarrhea E. general sick feeling, called malaise F. weight loss G. These symptoms may appear after your child has a cold or other respiratory infection.
- 6. Mesenteric adenitis vs. appendicitis • Mesenteric adenitis has similar symptoms to appendicitis. Appendicitis is inflammation in the appendix. The appendix is the small pouch off the cecum of the colon, in the lower right side of the abdomen. Sometimes the two conditions can be hard to tell apart. • In mesenteric adenitis, the pain may also be in other parts of your child’s belly. The symptoms could start after a cold or other viral infection. Appendicitis typically comes on suddenly, without any other illness before it.
- 7. Causes 1. A bout of the stomach flu or another infection in your abdomen can cause inflamed and swollen lymph nodes in and around the mesentery. Again, this is the tissue that attaches your intestines to the abdominal wall. 2. When you get an infection, bacteria, viruses, or other germs filter through your lymph nodes and cause them to become inflamed and swell up. Lymph nodes are part of the body’s immune response. They capture bacteria, viruses, and other germs, and they clear them out of your system to prevent you from getting sick. That’s why you’ll sometimes feel enlarged, swollen lymph nodes in your neck or other places when you’re sick. 3. Bacteria, viruses, and parasites can cause this condition.
- 8. Risk factors You can get mesenteric adenitis at any age, but it’s most common in children. Children are more likely to get mesenteric adenitis after: 1. a stomach virus 2. a cold virus or other respiratory infection 3. eating pork contaminated with Y. enterocolitica
- 9. Echinacea An herb derived from the Echinacea plant, Echinacea is used in fighting many infections. For treating lymphadenitis, the herb boosts the immune system and eradicates infection causing bacteria or other toxins. This process speeds healing and supports general health.
- 10. Garlic • Similar to other home remedies for swollen lymph nodes, garlic is a helpful ingredient in healing the condition. This is one of the best herbs to get rid of swollen lymph nodes that you can do at home every day. The reason is that garlic is good in anti- inflammatory property that can reduce swelling and pain very well. The way to use garlic is you should eat some cloves of garlic every day to eliminate swollen glands, or you can take some garlic capsules before consulting with your doctor.

Apple Cider Vinegar • One of the simplest and cheapest home remedies for swollen lymph nodes in ear, neck, and other parts of the body is apple cider vinegar, which has anti-bacterial property that can soothe the problem very well. The method is: • Mix a teaspoon of honey, a teaspoon of lemon juice, and a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with a glass of warm water and drink it immediately. You can drink this liquid 2-3 times each day to relieve inflammation and pain. • Also, you can combine a cup of warm water, a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, and a teaspoon of salt, gargle it several times each day
- 12. Lemon Lemon is useful fruit for healing mucus and sore throat. It is also easily found in every market and you totally can use this ingredient to get rid of swollen glands. Here is the instruction. • You combine a teaspoon of honey, a glass of warm water, lemon juice and drink it immediately. • Alternatively, you can mix warm water with lemon juice and gargle it. • You also can use a lemon, shrink with pepper and salt over the lemon and lick it. • Try to do those remedies several times each day until the problem is reduced
- 13. Cleavers • Cleavers is a kind of herb that can encourage functions of every organ, lymphatic system in your body. This ingredient also helps you purify and cleanse the blood effectively. As the result, you should take effectiveness of this herb to get rid of swollen lymph nodes in parts of the body. It also gets rid of underlying diseases as well as lower swelling in lymph nodes. You can drink cleaver tea every day. The instructions are: • You add some teaspoons of the herb in a cup of hot water. • Leave it for 10-15 minutes before drinking the tea. • You can drink 3-4 cups of cleaver herb each day
