This is the beginning of my plan for a music magazine I will be creating. I have looked at 'Q' magazines as an example and to get inspiration from.
In my plan so far I have included:
- an analysis of the aspects in one particular edition of Q
which includes the masthead, layout, quality, text style and
content, cover price, cover stories and exclusives
- an analysis of detonation and connotation within that
edition
- the media pack for Q magazines
I will continue with my plan, adding in:
- about the language (vocabulary, linguistics, poetic
features, sentence style and formal or informal)
- about the style and tone of my magazine
- how it will fit alongside existing publications
- who my target audience/market will be, creating a profile for
a potential reader
- how I will appeal to my target audience
- which magazines have the most relevance to my own
and talking about any aspects of their style that I could
borrow or use as inspiration
When my magazine is completed, it will consist of a front cover, contents page and a double page spread.

1. The role of a media institution
The media institution I choose will play a massive part
in the selling of my magazine, they will be the ones
circulating my magazine and therefore decide the
audience the magazine reaches. They will both
advertise and expand the magazine in different ways
depending on which institution I choose, they may be
able to expand it onto radio giving it its own radio
station specifically for rap music. I am going to choose
an institution that is already large and has a successful
background with music magazines and therefore will
have good experience advertising and circulating the
magazine.

• They have music magazines that are
popular however none are from the
rap/Hip-hop genre therefore having
my rap magazine will give them a
bigger fan base.
• They own radio stations for each of
there magazines, therefore they may
make a radio station for my magazine.
