EFFECTIVE MONETARY POLICY AS A RECIPE FOR MACROECONOMIC STABILITY IN NIGERIApaperpublications3
Abstract: The basic objective of this paper was to investigate effective monetary policy as a recipe for macroeconomic stability in Nigeria, using annual time series data from 1981 to 2014. The paper employs OLS methodology with all the BLUE assumption. The results show that considering the magnitude, 1% increase in RGDP (proxy for economic growth) is brought about by 0.86% increase in narrow money supply (M1), 0.63% increase in broad money supply (M2), 258% decrease in inflation rate (INFLARATE), 1276.3% increase in lending rate (LEDRATE), and 143.9% increase in gross fixed capital formation. This implies that an increase in lending rate and other related variables will lead to a significant increase in real GDP, proxy for economic growth in Nigeria. The estimated value of R2 (goodness of fit) of 0.67 or 67% shows that 67% systematic variation in Real GDP is caused by variation in narrow money supply, broad money supply, inflation rate, lending rate, and gross fixed capital formation. This indicates that indeed, monetary policy has an effect on macroeconomic stability in Nigeria. The study seems to suggest that concerted efforts should be made by the government to focus on increment in narrow and broad money supplies which will aid in the financing of the country’s monetary growth, balancing the price increase, stimulating increased spending, and further enhancing the country’s macroeconomic variables.
Economic Development Indicators, indices and HDIShahzaib Khan
Studying development is about measuring how developed one country is compared to other countries, or to the same country in the past. Development measures how economically, politically, socially, culturally or technologically advanced a country is. There are a few indices and economic development indicators to measure development.
1. The definition of developed countries countries
2. The indicators of classification of developed countries
3. The characteristics of developed countries
4. Some examples of developed countries
5. The impact of developed and developing countries on the Indonesian economy
Financial sector has always been potential ingredient in bringing growth in an economy, the indirect impact of
financial markets and institutions through saving mobilization and credit expansion is of extraordinary importance.
By employing Autoregressive Distributed Lags (ARDL) approach impact of financial sector on economic growth of
Tanzania is examined. The results show that, in both long-run and short-run, financial development exerts significant
but negative effect on economic growth contrary to our expectations. The study employs the ratio of broad money to
GDP (financial depth) as a proxy measure of financial development, along with inflation rate, real interest rate, real
exchange rate, share on of investment to GDP, proportion of development expenditure to total expenditure and
dummy for structural reforms as control variables during our estimations. Results also suggest non-existence of
causality between financial development and economic growth. Thus the study suggests strengthening data
availability on flow of credit from financial institution to the public is necessary to materialize the effect of financial
sector in Tanzania

Foreword
The global mobilization behind the Millennium
Development Goals has produced the most successful
anti-poverty movement in history. The landmark
commitment entered into by world leaders in the year
2000—to “spare no effort to free our fellow men,
women and children from the abject and dehumanizing
conditions of extreme poverty”—was translated into
an inspiring framework of eight goals and, then, into
wide-ranging practical steps that have enabled people
across the world to improve their lives and their future
prospects. The MDGs helped to lift more than one billion
people out of extreme poverty, to make inroads against
hunger, to enable more girls to attend school than ever

The year 2005 marks ten years since the General Assembly adopted the World Programme of Action for Youth in 1995. This report, an official report to the General Assembly, called for a renewed commitment to the goals of the World Programme of Action, since over 200 million youth were living in poverty, 130 million youth were illiterate, 88 million were unemployed and 10 million young people were living with HIV/AIDS. In the World Youth Report 2005, it is argued that too often, youth policy is driven by negative stereotypes of young people, including delinquency, drug abuse and violence. What seems to be forgotten is that young people are a positive force for development, peace, and democracy.
